All these questions are valid, though I want first to see that the DID does
not work then I will go and try to resolve it.

We've helped clients setup monitoring scripts for this type of situation - 2
different ways. One is a ping script, the other monitors the asterisk peer
status

Well sometimes I have a situation that the trunk is registered but there is
no communication coming in.
So ping
Occasionally, DIDs from different providers stop working for some reason.
I would like to be able to monitor situations like that and react before any
of my clients start going ballistic on me.
Any ideas? Scripts you know of or wrote and willing to share?
