RE: [Asterisk-Users] re: Linksys PAP2-NA

2004-10-28 Thread Dooz Owings
Brian,

I would like to know what approach you took? Im working on the software
hack approach but that 8k flash chip on the back is starting to look
tempting to me just for kicks. Did you literally toast the pap2?

Good luck.. I made a PAP2 and RT31P2 smoke when I was trying to unlock
them.. It didn't work. I gave up and bought 2 Sipura's..

If it indeed is Sipura, I may be able to give a try to reset the box, if
you can put it on a public IP.

I know how to unlock VoicePulse, which is SIPURA so this may not be
difficult.

This is technically incorrect as there IS a way to unlock it. All you
need is the password. There might even be other ways to get around it.
Google on PAP2 and unlock to see about 100 pages on the subject.

What you said was true. I was trying to keep it simple. We are going to be
doing all our own support and are not dealing with the dist companies you
mentioned.
Right now we are happy to be able to offer the low cost product.

Brandon

This is part of the Vonage deal. Vonage gets to deal with the unwashed
hordes and has a financial incentive for helping them to get the ATA
going. The reduced support costs are worth something to Linksys. They
want to do the same thing with the unlocked version. If the reseller has
an incentive (and the know-how) to provide first-level support, the box
 costs less.
