Gents Also found this article (if you want to pursue T.38), talks ata's and asterisk versions and levels of T.38 support.. very interesting!! http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20T.38 Regards Guy On 28/05/2010, at 12:37 AM, Michael Keuter wrote: >>> Slightly OT... >>> >>>

If you are sending the fax out your PRI line then your PAP2T with AstLinux should work just fine, so disregard my earlier response about T.38 and VoIP providers. Use the G.711 codec, echo suppression and echo canceler off. -Tod On May 27, 2010, at 6:35 AM, Tom Chadwin wrote: As always,

If your VoIP provider is setup for T.38 then you may have an issue. For in-bound faxes you are in control: If you don't allow T.38 then it will stay with whatever codec you have negotiated. Which should be g711. For out-bound faxes you are at the mercy of your VoIP provider's setup. The rec

Hi Tom Looks like the berofix supports the T.38 fax protocol, it would be worth investigating ATA T.38 support, I'm no expert but maybe worth investigating more(I know g729 doesn't like to play, and even with the higher bit rate codecs, you can have mixed results :-( ) URL's worth a read http

Probably, because you are then less susceptible to the variables of SIP trunking. Given you have some PAP2T's I would suggest you just test it. Set codec to ulaw or alaw, turn off echo cancel and set jitter buffer to low. Good luck. David On Thu, May 27, 2010 at 9:35 AM, Tom Chadwin wrote: >

As always, I needed to be clearer in my description. Our only trunking is ISDN PRI. We are only using SIP/IAX internally. So, would a PAP2T (various of which I currently use for voice) work well as the bridge between our internal analogue fax and our internal Astlinux box, sending and receiving fax

I should add that the PAP2T I have is one that I got through Nextalarm.com which is customized to support alarm/security system monitoring over the internet (VoIP). The ATA is customized to connect one of the analog lines into their systems, the other line is available to configure for my own use (

The answer is "it depends." I have had success with a fax machine connected to a linksys PAP2T ATA and routing through vitelity as the SIP trunk provider (with Astlinux in-between). I have had complete failure with an older Linksys/Sipura SPA-2002 and the same SIP trunk. I have both a PAP2T and

Slightly OT... With an uncustomized 0.7.2 (1.4) on a net5501 with a berofix PRI, what is the easiest way to attach an analogue fax which currently uses one DDI on the UK PRI? Will an ATA work? Thanks Tom -- __
