It is technically possible to give a net5501 setup 'surgery' to look like an
'alix' setup such that the latest 'alix' firmware could then be 'upgraded'.
Not recommended, though. I don't have a checklist off the top of my head.
The most straightforward is to save a basic configuration via

/oldroot/cdrom/os/astlinx-*.
