Tom,
You can already view /var/log/messages (which includes
dmesg/asterisk/syslog logs) in the GUI, as well as a plethora of other
log and configuration files. Under the System Tab there is a 'View
System Files' section where you can select the file you want to view.

Asterisk logs, and so on (perhaps even configurable for other logs).
