Thanks for your advice on my HP T5700 issue -- I added a rootdelay=10
in the .run.conf file on my USB stick and the result was:

Brian,
I'm assuming sda is the usb stick? Some hardware requires a delay at
boot time for the usb to become ready. You can try adding rootdelay=10
to you KCMD line in the astlinux-xx.run.conf file.
May be faster/better to use an internal drive. They make some nice
direct plugin flash device
