Michael,
The NAT Loopback plugin only apples to internal NAT'ed servers where internal
clients can access those servers by the public IP rather than the local private
IP. Useful for mobile devices that may hop between the public and private side
of the network.

Hi group
I was just looking at the firewall plugins and I noticed NAT Loopback.
I recently set up XMPP for a customer to be used internally and externally. I
set it up using SRV records pointing internal and external which was a good
learning experience but could have I just turned on NAT Loopba
Hi Tom,
IIRC, your original task was to use Remote Desktop (RDP) from a remote location
and access a PC on a LAN whose default gateway was down. You proved NAT
forwarding on the AstLinux would not work since the PC's default gateway was
not the AstLinux box.
The above could be done by enablin

But of course the situation I am trying to handle is when the main gateway
is down. Will clients still e able to route to the VPN subnet

Tom,
You may also need to have your gateway/router device have a route to the
OpenVPN subnet that identifies the Astlinux box as the gateway for the
OpenVPN subnet.

Understood. No, we have no VPNs set up on the Astlinux box - the firewall on
the main line (which was down)

Tom,
I see what you are trying to do, but the source address of your NAT EXT-LAN

Hi Tom,

have one external IP address.
So, something like this would work for RDP

Hello all
Just lost main connection to a remote site, but the Astlinux box (also on

Your web interface is excellent, maybe in a future release you could add
tooltips (with the ability to turn them on/off ) eg explaining how to enter
multiple DNS servers etc etc

I'm embarrassed (sorry for waisting your time)
Enabling masquerading(NAT) via external interface(s): ppp+
Adding (internal) host(s): 10.8.0.0/24
(ppp+) Forwarding(NAT) TCP port(s) 0/0:42377 to 10.8.0.184:42377
Security is ENFORCED for external interface(s) in the FORWARD chain

Guy,
Does the script conclude with: "firewall: ** All firewall rules applied **" ?
If not, the iptables error should be logged.
The NAT EXT->LAN rule should work, unless the input values in the web interface
are not proper.
Clearly, moving any of your special /etc/modprobe.conf to /etc/modpro
Hi List
I recently upgraded from AstLinux 0.6 to 0.7.1 and have have found my static
NAT to LAN routing doesn't seem to be working (as configured in firewall rules
in the web interface). I've upgraded Arno-firewall upgrade via the web
interface. All other routing seems to be working OK
