OK so I have a question for Darrick/Kris,
The howto-ish points one at Darrick's website to download runnix.
Darrick's website has the runnix stuff in the obsolete section. Why? Is
runnix now obsolete? If so how does one install the AstLinux software
onto the CF card?
I'm kinda going round in
Mark,
The 0.6/0.5 branch is based on Runnix for all targets.
Runnix is a new startup methodology allowing for easy upgrades.

obsolete directory when they are not obsolete. I agree with Mark that they
should still be more readily available/visible as you cannot always rely on
the combined runnix/astlinux images that Darrick has. Specifically, I was
Some time back, I attempted to use the image file for the geni586
version and failed. I sent Darrick, off list, what I had done so I
wouldn't clog the list if only I had done something dumb, but he has
been swamped with real money work so hasn't responded.
I was able to do the two step install
Hi Mark
my understanding of this is that it is only obsolete in that you don't
need to go through the pain of installing Runnix as separate step. You
would normally install a whole image which includes both Runnix + Astlinux.
After that, you could if you wished, just upload upgrades of .run
And that would be fine on a PC based image but currently there appears
to be only runix + astlinux based installs rather than combined images
available for the embededd machines.
Are these machines going the way of the way of the dinosaur? Is support
for them waning?
Should I be looking at a
