Greetings -
I have this working on other boxes, and I had it working specifically with these versions as recently as this week, but a redo effort has me stumped. (why am I redoing ? I screwed up the genunion/keydisk creation, and was starting over.) I've created a runnix image on a CF card, (V 0.2.1, circa Jan '08). I've placed the astlinux 0.6.1.run* in the os directory. For some reason the attempt to mount fails with no reason listed. Configuring eth0 with DHCP... ueth0: link up, 10Mbps, half-duplex, lpa 0x0021 dhcpc (v1.4.1) started Sending discover... Sending discover... Sending discover... No lease, failing Verifying astlinux-0.6.1.run... astlinux-0.6.1.run verified mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on /mnt/root failed Error mounting astlinux-0.6.1.run root fs Ironically, I can perform the mount from the runnix command line right after this fails. $ mount /dev/loop0 /mnt/root /mnt/base $ df Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/ram0 4030 1835 2195 46% / none 258044 0 258044 0% /tmp /dev/hda1 125704 37212 88492 30% /mnt/base /dev/loop0 34112 34112 0 100% /mnt/root Fdisk shows: /mnt/base $ fdisk /dev/hda The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 1985. There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024, and could in certain setups cause problems with: 1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO) 2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs (e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK) Command (m for help): p Disk /dev/hda: 2048 MB, 2048901120 bytes 32 heads, 63 sectors/track, 1985 cylinders Units = cylinders of 2016 * 512 = 1032192 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 * 1 125 125968+ 6 FAT16 Any thoughts would be appreciated. Knowing why the mount failed would sure help. Thanks, rb Ron Byer Jr. NetWeave Integrated Solutions, Inc. +1.732.786.8830 x120
