Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Hello Guitarman,Yeah, that sounds about right. If I can make a little region right before a turn that makes a sound, it should be doable. The only thing Id be concerned with is when you need to turn left or right to continue up or

Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Er.95% of us, including myself, are blind. As a direct consequence, it follows that I can not converse with you about images that you post. Also, keep this in mind. If you can play it without seeing the screen, and if someone besides
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Hi,Lol posting images to a forum that says, AudioGames.net. Clues in the title. but anyways...I think all the suggestions posted here are valid. However, as camlorn said, if i had just sounds in my ears telling me where to go, id
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
I believe Ive left a handprint on my face due to facepalming. That was a very silly mistake! Sorry about that.Anyway, I think I understand... This will be rather difficult to balance. I think Ill take the suggestions, then create one
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
I can see your drawing. My suggestion is to turn it all around. Make it so that the sound indicates the presence of an obstacle and not the edge of it. If we look at the first grey arrow the player would hear a sound in his right ear
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Hmm... Sounds something like proximity based echolocation, according to your description. I was thinking of a similar idea sometime earlier, but then it reminded me of the guiding path idea too, to a certain extent. I worry that it
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
I can see your drawing. Yes, that would probably work as you described it but let me make an alternative suggestion in order to give you options. Make it so that the sound indicates the presence of an obstacle and not the edge of it.
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Also, Android accessibility is the far side of suck, and Android phones are uncommon among the blind. If you want blind people to actually really play this, youre going to want to use the iPhone; whether its just the iPhone or both
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Yeah, I figured something like that would be the case. Thankfully, Unity3D can deploy to both Android and iPhones (Windows phones too, but considering you didnt even mention them, I guess that speaks volumes for its popularity,
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Yeah. The windows phone accessibility situation is can be summarized in two words: it isnt. Technically, theres some sort of thing like the old eyes-free shell with blind-specific apps, but you cant--as far as Im aware--have

Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Hello everyone,Im currently on the final year of my game programming course of my university, and decided to attempt make a known real life game (Labyrinth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labyrinth_(game) ) accessible for blind
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Well, first, this should almost certainly be in general game discussion.Regardless. You seem to be on to something, but theres two points. Youre likely going to have to allow only one path, youre going to need a method to indicate
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Ah, I wasnt completely sure of whether this was supposed to be there, so I posted it here to be safe. I suppose it would be good to have this moved.Ah yes, I was only planning on using one path to avoid confusion, but you have a very
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Its not about how many sounds you have, its about how many sounds you are perceived to have. I dont know how to explain this, so Ill do my best. If you add a path sound, try to get it meshed with the wall sound so that it feels like
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Hmm... I believe I understand what you mean with the sounds. But yeah, I suppose it wouldnt make much sense to have a guiding path for this kind of game. Ill see if I can figure something out to indicate turns. Your input is really
Re: Final year game project in progress, looking for feedback
Hi Saikobooru.Well you could go on a path and when you reach turns you have a small beep that plays in your left or right ear that tells you which direction to go. This way your moving around and once you reach a turn the beep plays
