The API is good and they don't force you to use the studio. They focus on it, since its primarily how you'd design a game in the mainstream these days, just as Wwise would do. But the API docs are really good, and unlike Wwise, you actually can use the FMOD

O, not accessibility as in screen readers, accessibility as in the licenses. I see.I had always avoided it because afaik it's one of the ones that really wants to force you to use the studio. Haven't evaluated it in years, but could have sworn it didn't

From what I can tell the licence change applies to FMOD Studio and FMOD Studio Engine, i'm not sure how that may apply to the FMOD API as opposed to the studio design application.

Interesting, what do we mean by "the accessibility may be mixed"?Last I checked they had a lame hrtf so I'll probably just keep doing what I'm doing, I guess. But they do have a reputation for a reason.

As reported by [gamasutra]:The FMOD developers have changed the term's of their licensing to benefit indie developers, now using FMOD Studio or FMOD Studio Engine is free for any developer whose yearly revenue is less than 200k, or whose budget is less than 500k
