Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
You haven't derailed it at all, furries is as much a fandom as any other.

Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
Heh, yeah...I guess the...18+ material that people might come across kinda gives them the wrong ideas. On the other hand, you'll find such stuff in any kind of fandom, so it's barely a surprise.I haven't personally experienced any hate
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
I think most of the hate comes from the fact that there is a lot of, shall we say, adult content in some parts of the furry fandom. I've met some fursuiters, though, and they seemed alright. So, yeah, me too-- no problems here.

Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
@AlexN94: [[wow]] that's cool! I don't know why you guys in the furry fandom get so much hate. It's a fandom like any other, I don't see anything wrong with it. I've not seen any furry stuff myself but people keep on getting annoyed
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
Closest experience I've had with that would be from me being a furry...I don't own any kind of fursuit/parts of one though, have never tried wearing any, and the only part I've only really seen was a tail or two...I do plan on getting
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
I've been looking for a figurine of Guenhwyvar as well.

Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
@Aaron I guess that's more reason for me to show up then. There are a lot of cosplays that are similar to this at other conventions (though I don't think I've ever personally seen a Magma Grunt). @ghost rider that sounds doable. The most
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
The closest thing, right now, I do to cosplay is write roleplay. But once I get a chance to go to a convention, I'd like to RP as Drizzt Do'Urden. For that I'd need to body paint myself black, get a long white wig, find a forest green
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
[[wow]], this sounds different to anything I've seen at an event before. It could be interesting.

Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
@Draq: I've only ever made costumes out of fabric, but some people use foam or a heat-sensitive material called Worbla to make armour and weaponry. I haven't been able to mess around with that kind of material yet, but I'd like to. So
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
I'm hoping @dino might be able to provide some info here too, but here's what I think: Some of the costumes are really expensive and are sort of plastic but seem really, really detailed. Some suits, like Predator who is a tall character
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
What I'm mostly interested in is what people make their costumes out of and how similar it is to the original costumes actors wear. Especially for the really good costumes like stormtrooper armor. I know there are professionally made
Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
What sort of uniform do magma grunts have?

Re: Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
I cosplay, and I've done so both at larger conventions and smaller, more focused ones. My first cosplay was as a pokemon trainer, but it wasn't very good since I put it together very quickly. My second was Hawkeye from The Avengers
Fandoms, conventions and the idea of cosplaying
This topic is for those who might be interested in the idea of cosplaying, whether that's meeting cosplayers or even trying your hand at one. It's also about conventions. As an example, there's a massive convention in the US called comic con
