Re: Fav User Agent Strings
I would like to switch, but I use the Windows favorites too much and there doesn't seem to be any easy way to integrate Firefox into that like IE is.Sure I could set Firefox as the default browser and the favorites would launch it instead of IE, but there's

The Beeb will deliver H.264 HTML5 to you if you pretend to be an iPad, but not if you are a Mac or PC--then they insist on Flash.Safari lets you change the UA string easily enough if you have turned on the Develop menu, which I always do. Lots of useful tools

Re: Fav User Agent Strings
Hmmm... IE has a developers menu option that I have been just ignoring, maybe I'll have to take a look at it to see what's there.I don't think the dividing line between HTML5 or Flash is that cleanly defined, when I was running IE8, which is HTML4, while running

I no longer have Flash installed because the bad vastly outweighs the good in my book. Youtube is now HTML5 so there is no compelling need for me to keep it around. I now simply avoid the BBC content that demands Flash; they only insist on Flash at all for DRM
Re: Fav User Agent Strings
I'm not sure yet because I haven't gotten up enough ambition to look into it, but for IE, I suspect it's one or more system registry entries.

Re: Fav User Agent Strings
Maybe I'm dense, but, is there a point to this? All a user agent string does is tell the web servers that host the web site you are visiting the configuration of your web browsing platform, just in case it matters to the web site's code.Yawn!

Re: Fav User Agent Strings
Ah, now I can see where faking your user agent string could be useful. Thanks! I might have to look into changing my user agent string for IE and Firefox and what to change to force mobile web sites to be presented, while leaving as much of the original agent
