The cable that looks/feels like it has a headphone type connector, does it have a very, very thin wire? I think what youve got there is an optical cable. You can get optical splitters, what you would do is put the splitter into the socket

Depends on your set up. Are you using sound through HDMI? You can get audio adapters to give you a pair of phono sockets from the XBox 360s unused AV socket which you can then use a 2 X phono to 3.5mm stereo cable to send it to your sound
