Re: Nethack Ascension You definitely can rename the symbols on a per-program basis in JAWS. I'm not sure about NVDA or other screen readers. And oh man. good luck playing it on the phone! I imagine all the screen reader interaction commands involved in a roguelike would make it a nightmare

Re: Nethack Ascension I did play ADOM way back in the Windows XP days, when I could still run it as a DOS application. The newest version does seem to be working semi-ok with the cursor again, though only in the free download, not the paid for version which uses NotEye, a completely

Re: Nethack Ascension Same as sterlock, mapping everything in roguelikes is just too much like hard work. The only roguelike I've had any luck with is Angband and that more because of a happy combination of large enough tyles for me to see and text that played very nicely with supernova

Re: Nethack Ascension I actually went through and redefined all my symbols in NetHack so that they use the extended ASCII characters, so I'm using nonstandard symbols for dungeon features. I then use JAWS' dictionary feature to rename all the symbols, so a typical line might sound like

Nethack Ascension

Nethack Ascension Just curious if anyone here has successfully ascended in NetHack. I love this game, and have been playing it since I was about 18 (roughly 18 years), and to this day still haven't done a successful ascension. Granted I'm not a very dedicated player (more of a dabbler
