Heh, nope, my hardware skills go hardly to the point of connecting two contacts with a wire, so designing a lock myself is out of question I guess. That's why I was thinking, if there isn't one already. A solid, fully secured lock with nfc on one side

I'm using openHAB2 on a Raspi 4 right now, works great. openHAB allows you to combine several smart home systems of different brands together and combine rules for them, e.g. I do have a weather station from one brand running and am controlling my smart

@3 I hardily recommend the Home Assistant/Hass.io combo. Aside from some overheating issues caused by me overloading my Pi, and aside from standard HA configuration updates that you're dealing with regardless, it's been a mostly fire-and-forget setup. A Hass.io

@2, good points. I've read up on HA but haven't heard about ZWave or AppDaemon. When I move into my own home that'll definitely be something I'll look into. I've always thought of a nice thermostat that adjusts the temperature of (say) a garage based on outdoor
