If your laptop doesn't have a pause key, you can get out of input mode by activating the sticky keys shortcut, and then quitting sandbox through task manager. The virtual machine erases itself anyway, so there's no harm in doing that.

You could shut down the guest when you're done with it from alt+f4, though that will display an error when the guest closes because you're technically connected to it through Remote Desktop. Also, even though your laptop may not have a specific pause

When a window called input capture appears, press alt+space followed by x to maximize the window. Press alt+control+pause to return input to the host. Technically, keys are actually passed to the sandboxed OS even when the window is not maximized
