I thought of doing the same thing with bgt but then I improved my sound editing skills instead. My job is a lot easier now.

While I do not believe that this was exactly what you were looking for, there is a entire language revolving around this, called csound.Of course I haven't used it, but I have read good things about it.

sound design with program
I have recently taking to writing pure basic programs that play sounds rather than audio editing. I find it allows me to be much more precise and also I think it's easier. does anyone else make sound mixes this way?
