@10In the advanced settings, you can enable UIA for word. It's very definitely beta but I've known people who have found it much more performant.

@3Windows starts something like 100 "programs" just by being installed. They're called services, and entirely invisible to you unless you go digging around in very advanced control panels. Installing other programs-

Yes if it's lower power with an HDD. My laptop was this way. My desktop starts up in like 10 seconds and NVDA comes on and is usable right from then on. But my desktop is decently powerful with an SSD as its OS drive.

HDD? Yep, then its normal. Windows is most likely starting up multiple programs at once, NVDA requires many, many small files which need to be loaded, which is especially slow on HDDs. So yeah, either get a SSD, or stay calm and wait

I have 8GB ddr4 ram and 1tb HDD. I don't have money for an SSD yet. Not a lot of programs are starting up. Its only two and they are not resource heavy.
