I've just bought the Definitive Edition, and I have to say I'm doing decently... I'm going to have to learn the sounds and such, but that's no different from any other fighting game. Post 46, no dude, I was saying, bombs that are not, near a base should go away after a while. :-)And yeah, your right, hunger isn't really as much of an actual problem as it is an annoyance, the only time it gets to be one is when you go out grabbing for a long time, and food coolers help with that.It's not that big of a deal, I think it just really bugs people seeing it, just a human mind thing. lol

Hey everyone, I'm Benjamin, the developer of Junction Gate. At Skylord's suggestion, I've downloaded NVDA and have been gradually learning how to use it, but I'm far from an expert. I'm trying to make some accessibility improvements to the alpha version of the game and I'm looking for your pain points with playing it.I just pushed some updates with better event notifications and improved text for upgrade pricing (you might need to clear your cache to get them if you've already been playing). I'll be releasing some changes sometime next week with keyboard shortcuts and I'd like to make some additional changes as well based on your feedback. It's a complex game, so I'm especially looking for things that could be considered easy wins - tiny accessibility changes that would make huge difference in your ability to play without having to rewrite the whole alpha version of the game. For a quick explanation, the alpha is
  more like a dirty prototype that allowed me to quickly explore game mechanics without paying much attention to good code. While not 100% complete, it's served its purpose and so lately I've been focusing most of my effort on the beta, which is cleaner, more systems based, and will eventually turn into the completed game. That said, I'd like to improve the accessibility of the alpha where I can. I suspect that there might be some additional wins in regards to some forms and tables, but my inexperience with screen readers is coming up there. So basically, please let me know if there are areas of the game that are completely unusable and I'll see what I can do.This was actually the first time I've used a screen reader and it's been a very informative experience for me as a developer. The beta is most likely to transition into a 3D game from the text version of the alpha, but this experience has me thinking of different approaches and if it m
 ight be possible to make the 3D version accessible as well. Being as I'm still early in the development of the beta, it comes at a good time. While I can't make any promises about the eventual outcome, I'm going to try experimenting with making the beta accessible and your feedback with the alpha will be very helpful as well. I saw a few questions earlier in the thread. There is a tutorial for Junction Gate on the website, but I'd be more than happy to help you out here as well. Regarding mining, the Saladin System isn't mineable, but the rest of the Commonwealth is. You'll first need to send a scout ship and scan it. If the location is uninhabited and has resources, you'll be able to mine. If it is inhabited, you'll need to destroy any ships first before being able to mine.In general, the later game is the least polished and there are some unfinished features and bu
 gs there. Diplomacy and trading are a little wonky. The stock market is somewhat exploitable. I've learned a lot of lessons there that I'm carrying over to the beta version of the game. Well I'd prefer turn based games when it comes to audio games for the possibility (say so far) to perform various types of moves including magic which you won't find in real time audio games. For instance: could we see a real time audio game where you're a fighter who holds a sword, then you can perform combos, launch fire balls, cast magical spells or consume most of your mana on casting a blast that kills or effects most of your surrounding enemies? And so on. Yet we don't witness except keys mashing, and a constant rhythm of woosh, woosh, woosh, no combos, no spells to cast. That's why I prefer turn based games, for being implementing such things in them is easy.

I have now completed the story mode in the game. It's quite a cheasey affair but I consider it a fun romp, and I was actually a little surprised with how it ended and it does make me wonder if more is coming. Also, I feel very happy to say that I helped Sightless complete the final battle as well yesterday. Interestingly, I beat the final battle during my first session with it (I must stress, first session, not first time, it took me several continues to beat it).

To be honest if used properly a blind school is  actually a usefull resource.In the pre mainstream days it was a bit of an institution however all blind people need to go to a blind school as well as mainstream, I think here in new zealand we call it blind resource centres now where you are trained.Its true there are blind schools here but there is a lot of mainstreaming the only reasons that the schools are used as they used to be is if you are far away but there is a main school for the blind and resource centres branching from it.So you may have a few years at blind school for training then you use a resource centre.Even when not in a blind school and mainstreaming you use resources on request or if you needed it but you need to just like a lot of things ask for your things.You get everything done at first for you but you are expected to know what to do when you know the skill.Thats how it works now in my day we were transitioning so it 
 was part of the old and part of the new.Its actually better than it was because the blind schools were better for the blind as the mainstream schools took all supossed funding and resources from disabled as a whole and transfered it to their own funding.Now though the main blind school where the blind go manages all this.Mainstreamed blind people are supported by resource centres as well as the main school which manages everything.We also have a wide ranging education network for the main school and a union which means in short if anyone tries anything we can jump on their balls really hard which evins it a bit.

OK, since my unban request was ignored, I'll now post Feedback from the time I was playing.First, I have to agree that if someone sends I-don't-Know-how-many robots after you, you can basically not do anything.You know what I would really like to see? Real vehicles, which have a realistic movement, and with which you can't just magically drive through anything like in TK.Second, I would really like to see some Kind of Robot patrols for the base, who just go around the base in circles and shoot as soon as someone enters their radius.So much about my Feedback.Now, why do you People completely ignore my Posts (or not even read them, which is very likely to me since neither you nor Sam did answer), I would really want an reaction from Sam, because first opening up a Topic for former Players and then ignoring a message about an obviously unfair ban is just unfair.That's it for now.have a nice day.Julian

Hmm. I believe I have an old copy of Adobe Audition lying around. Would it help you if I looked at the soft ne preset you described above, and try to come up with settings for something like Reacomp that you can use in Gold Wave that would accomplish that? I'm almost positive Reacomp could emulate most any digital compressor or limiter, it's just a matter of adjusting settings. I'd be willing to do this but it will take a while since I'll be busy with other things over the next few days.Let me know what you think.

That's why I simply try suspending JAWS for games written in BGT. For most games that don't try to detect my assistive technology and are either self voiced or use SAPI, it works with no problem. But even when suspended this game detects JAWS and assumes it should use it.

Hi. I've just tried this out. Nice to see another developer as people have said. I do have a few suggestions for the game. first, As Orco said the game is called Shoots and ladders in America, and Snakes and ladders in Europe. The boards are also different, in America the boards have shoots or  slides to go down, in Europe and England actualy curling snakes. Since your game is "snakes and ladders" perhaps some snake sounds would be fun since currently it sounds more like you fall down some sort of trap door than encounter a snake. Heck maybe you could give players the choice of whether to have snakes or shoots? You culd also consider different back ground sounds or different piece moving sounds, though obviously sounds are harder to come by.I also do not know if the board is randomized each game or not, though again that might be something to consider adding, along with perhaps the ability to have more computer oppone
 nts to play against. Of course, snakes and ladders (under either name), is a heavily chance based game where there isn't a lot of choice about how to progress or strategy, hopefully with your next game you can give players a few more options to play with. i'll be interested to see what you come up with next.

Will add Sapi in a future update. Though the game should work ok with Jaws enabled. That is all theoretical though as I don't use Jaws. The game tries to bipass jaw's keyhook stuff, but not sure how well that works.

Hello and welcome to the forum. That sounds fantastic, I read over the instructions for   junction   gate myself and  it sounded amazing, though I've not tried the game yet owing to being rather busy moving house at the moment. We have  been looking for an accessible single player  complex space exploration game for a long while, since the majority of accessible browser ones have been very  heavy on the pvp.So it's great your looking  making the game accessible. The junction gate topic can be found  the new releases room, and I'll be glad to try the game myself as well.

That's odd, since you do have a lot to keep up with, it's not all that relaxing, in my opinion. Particularly since The F12 key doesn't work on my Virtual machine, but that's another topic entirely. Hi Merin, Orin,I'm not sure what your aim is, but there are many options to filter destinations under the FTL menu. When you engage at a destination to far away it will provide a "nearest destinations" option which will take you as close to your intended destination as possible, based on your current charge. If you wish to just travel an arbitrary amount you can do this via smart macros. For example if you type FTL followed by a space and then a whole number in the free text box you will travel that many light years. For example typing "FTL 1" will move you one light year to the right, typing "FTL -1" will move you one light year to the left. You can use any amount you wish, so to travel your full charge of 20 you could type "FTL -20".You can also use waypoints in a similar manner, typing "waypoint 1" will engage straight to waypoint 1 in your computer without any preamble.In terms of the transfer m
 issions, these are meant to be done by large ships that have long ranges, the missions will filter based on your hold size with a very large range of acceptance - but it should state the distance involved in the mission summary.I hope this helps.
