@Maria, you can find a link under Jyro's name to send him an email via the forum, please do that, or check his website since we don't give out people's email addresses. @Simba, the ice thing sounds fairly freaky. luckily our own issue wasn't that dire. It turns out that the stopcock isn't actually a turn switch like every other stopcock I've seen, it's a lever you need to change from vertical to horizontal . So there was me, turnning this section of pipe with the lever around and around and around and water was still on, then my land lord comes in and just goes "crunk!" and it's done! I can say  felt like a major dingbat for not working that one out .Fortunately, the plummer turned up at 8 am yesterday morning, and thanks to the lone of some very handy fan heaters, we dried up all the water with no damage which was good. Our landlord really is a very nice chap, he even bought us two rather expensive bottles of wine and shared one with us while we chatted waited for the plummer, and I was quite impressed that a 70 year old very straight lased ex antique dealer did know what I was talking about when I told him we wanted our front door bright green like Bilbo Baggins' . One last amusing thing from this debarcle though was the heating. While our land lord is lovely, he does have that tendency which some older people have to  assume he always knows best. So he set the timer on the heating before he left  to turn the heating off between midnight and seven am. We did ask him not to, on the basis that my lady gets cold and frequently one or both of us is awake anyway, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. However, when he was gone guess what? no heating at all? it wasn't until midnight that day that I realized he had actually set the heating to be off! the rest of the time and come on! between midnight and seven. Fortunately, this time my logic skills were up to the task and I was able to turn the timer off entirely, so we now have heating back . @Family mario, I'm jealous, though you'll have to let me know how that retro thing goes. I've never been a big fan of emulation since playing on a keyboard is interesting and emulated games don't tend to work right, one reason I've relied  on original hardware. I have my snes currently hooked up and working, but my gamecube (which also serves to play gba games), is not in quite as good a state since we managed to lose the tv cable while moving. This is very annoying as I used amazon prime to treat myself to something I've been looking for for a long time, a copy of Mega man ii for the original gameboy, now meaning I only have four more mega man games to get to complete my personal "mega man games I can play" list, which encompasses megaman 1-8, Megaman & bass, all five original mega man gb games, megaman x 1-6 plus xtreme and xtreeme 2 and the four mega man zero games. Unfortunately after this the games either got too 3d or moved onto inaccessible consoles like the psp, wii and ds. Actually the Wii I am particularly sad about since it would be a good way to play retro games if I could get through the blasted menus on the thing, not to mention a few remakes like Mega man 9 and 10, though I suspect those would have menu structures too complex for me to handle. In other news, unfortunately I'm going to have to wait on a hero's call because after buying a new Iphone 8 I'm severely short of cash, though hopefully I can transfer some from my savings and be okay in a few days. This evening we're taking my brother and his now fiance out to watch Starwars and have a meal as  celibration of their engagement, (assuming they're both recovered from their colds), which I'm looking forward to. And that's about enough ramblement for me I think, and probably my last monthly chat for 2017 .

Hi.@Dark. I actually got it set up first thing as soon as I got home on Monday. I have two controllers I can use. I can either use my desktop keyboard, or I can use a controller called the NES30, a Bluetooth and USB wired gamepad that looks and feels like the original NES, except with a few more buttons to play SNES titles. I can use it with my PC, Android, the Switch, and through an adapter, I can use it with an original NES, an original SNES, or even Nintendo's NES and SNES Mini consoles. It's a bit on the pricy side, but it gets the job done. The difference with my RetroPie build compared to an NES/SNES mini is that I can play more systems than just NES. I can play systems up to Nintendo 64. Anything like Atari 2600, ColecoVision, ZX Spectrum, even the Virtual Boy and several obscure Japanese systems like the Sharp X68000. Sure, you could hack Nintendo's console to add custom ROMs and even install other emulators in addition to Nintendo's stock emulator, but you're limited to the amount of flash storage. As for your Mega Man thing, you could get the ROMs for the other GB games, but I know that's something that most people are uncomfortable with, so I won't bring that subject up. As for the other Mega Man games, I have Mega Man 1 through 10 on Steam thanks to the Mega Man Legacy Collections, meaning that I can play them on my PC, complete with leaderboards, achievements, and whatnot. Again, I know Steam can be a pain in the arse to set up initially though. I DO have my SNES still hooked up, but it's really starting to get out of shape, so I'm gonna have to get someone to restore it or something so I can use the outer shell for something else.

Hi folks, sorry for the wait, Here you go.This version only works if you have Jaws, an NVDA version is hopefully coming soon.This version cannot save your progress once you close the program, a later version will have the ability to save your progress.This version only works if you can use your number pad, ideally you'd have a full desktop keyboard, but I suppose it would work if you know how to use the virtual number pad on a laptop keyboard. I will look at making an option that does not require this.This version works for cubes 2 blocks on a side, up to 100 blocks on a side.Right now the 6 sides of the cube are labelled up, down, front back, left and right, a later version may have options for changing those names to colors, names, sounds, etc.Each position has an x y coordinate, with 0, 0 being on the bottom left corner of each side, and the top right is highest. @Trenton, thanks for the recommendation, but my point here was more that I don't particularly see what Android would do that Ios/windows/alexa wouldn't do, ie, what is unique about the system, feel free to set me straight on it's advantages, since I am genuinely interested in what advantages android gives other than the freedom from the Apple of evil .I would be glad to have a poke around at an Android device for the sake of curiosity as I said, but I'm afraid I don't have a couple of hundred quid to spend on something just to poke around with, if I won the lottery fair enough, though likely I'd still be too busy playing Hero's call, going to  disney or hiering goons to kidnap the president of nintendo and tickle him until he makes accessible games  to bother with one then .

this is exactly the question I also have. recording hours and hours of audio, is not the problem, and, i am willing to do this. as, to my understanding,  the more  phrases, there is in a recorded audio, the better for the enjin, but the question remains, what app can we use that can put this all together, so that we can install and test it. if I can find that, I would be perfectly willing to record as many hours of audio as it needs. I'd even be willing to dissect, cut up,  and do what ever I need to do, with this audio. to make the enjen as good as it could be. the idea that I get, from reading up, is that, the more and more recordings you have, the easier it is for the enjen to provide a natural voice, at the end of the day. so, if only we new what to use, to make this work, I'd be super happy to give this a go.

Moderation! While we don't specifically have a spoiler policy on this board, given that this is a major new release, perhaps members could show a little consideration for each other by indicating there are spoilers" before  going into detail about scenes later in the game or solutions to puzzles. This doesn't have to be formal and major. The practice on many boards of writing the letters s  p o i l e r s p a c e all on separate lines would be rather overkill here since the point of that is to stop spoilers  scrolling onto the page for people reading visually, just the words "beware! spoilers" or something similar so people can stop reading   would be sufficient.Since I have not bought hero's call yet myself (due to financial reasons), I haven't even checked this topic or read posts in it for fear of spoilers, so this would be very much  appreciated by me too :d.Thanks for your consideration.

Can I ask a really, really dumb question? How do you strafe/sidestep? I know how to snap to ninety degrees, but how can you, say, step to the east while facing north? If I have to do grid searches for trickier areas, I'd like to know how to do that.Note to self: Liam's stream is full of spoilers. I personally don't mind them, per se, but I learned a lot. It feels as if he knows the game pretty well though, as nothing really seems to surprise him, and he's blowing through battle text (even with bosses) really quick.Is there a point of reference for what status effects are in the game, and how they work?

I find that most battles with more enemies than you have party members are going to cost you more than they're worth, so I tend to run away, pick enemies off in ones and twos.Whatever spoilers I find, I'll either keep vague or put beyond some sort of barrier so that someone won't stumble on them without at least a bit of warning. So far I have no spoilery questions of spoileriness.

Finding album information when ripping a cd

Hi. I got several cds for christmas which  are fairly newly released. I stuck on windows media player preparing to rip them, however they are all listed as "unknown album"  Usually Windows mediaplayer  retrieves info automatically, but this time it didn't. I  noticed an option called "find album information" in the context menu, however when I activated it I was lead to a page which read very slowly indeed with nvda, with options to m, buy the cd? Which seems stupid given that the cd was in the drive. There was also an "update album information" in the context menu, but no go with that. In fairness neither vlc mediaplayer nor winamp seems to recognize the cd either, so it is entirely probable that album information in whatever online database these various programs use just hasn't been added for these yet. Is there a way to check? and if I do go ahead and rip the cd, is there a way to get track info added later other than adding them   having someone read the cd case (or looking up the track list online), and renaming the files myself. I don't tend to use all the artest/genre type of crap, so don't mind missing the full id tags (as long as the folder and files have the right names that's enough for me), fut if there is an easier way of doing this than having to do it manually I'd like to know, likewise, I'd appreciate knowing if indeed I do! need to add the information myself or if it is likely it'll be added soon, given these are all comparatively recent releases.

As for the other Mega Man games, I have Mega Man 1 through 10 on Steam thanks to the Mega Man Legacy Collections, meaning that I can play them on my PC, complete with leaderboards, achievements, and whatnot. I DO have my SNES still hooked up, but it's really starting to get out of shape, so I'm gonna have to get someone to restore it or something so I can use the outer shell for something else.

Slight spoilers ahead. Did anyone manage to complete the wolf pelt collecting quest for Madeline? It seems it is bugged, i have more than 20 pelts and can't hand them in. If you want them now, you'll probably have to do the folder and file renaming your self, but if you are willing to wait a short while, set the aside for a couple of weeks to a month, then try again, by then the album and track information should be in the databases. Beyond that, I'm sorry I can't help much, I've never tried accessing any of the disc databases outside the ripping program that uses them.

Have you tried CDex?  It's a pretty straightforward program, though you should configure everything first.In terms of ripping information, you can retrieve album information for a cd from a remote database and, though you might think you have to use an email address, there is a workaround which essentially consists of using "invalid[at]invalid.invalid" instead, using the actual at symbol of course.If you need any further info on CDex I'd be happy to try and help if I can.

I'm going back to doing screen capturing, and for this I used OBS Studios before, but now, it seems like the new version of the software is not as accessible in some edegrees.    I can add my scene and everything, but I cannot select or add a source anymore.  Unless they changed up the whole layout.    Any other solutions out there?    This is kinda driving me nuts.Unless I am just not understanding, that integrated game/screen capturing software in WIndows is not accessible, so I'm ruling that out unless there's an NVDA scrit for it.

Screen capturing

I've decided to start with screen capturing for some tutorials I do from time to time, plus I wanted to do some videos of my speed runs of some small games I play.  I used to use OBS for this, but the software is not the same, and thee were changes made that caused the software to be somewhat inaccessible.FOr the most part the software is accessible, but adding sources is not visible unless there's a source already added.  I had to go to scenes, then move the cursor over manually, and click in the sources window, which is spoken when I did so.  Not too trouble some, but not what I was expecting.Anyways, I heard the windows integrated game capturing software is not accessible, or at least I was unable to work with it.  ANy other ideas out there for capturing?Edit: Edited to explain how I found sources in OBS

Not sure if someone brought this up, but I think I founda  game ending bug.  If one updates the "A hero's call quest" without turning in the last quest, let's say completing the graveyard arc, but then completeing the mine section, the game overrides the last objective and won't let you  turn in the last one.  My savefile is essentially broken as I have no way to turn in the graveyard quest, and I wasn't aware of this until I updated all my save files and went through a dozen more hours of work.  I'm fine restarting, but this is a bit of a warning for people not to do the same thing, and to report this bug.

i'm extremely impressed. I've played for about an hour and a half now.just a few quick questions:1. how do I turn on the translating thing? I want to tell this to my friend but he does not speak English. does the translating thing work? And does it translate the voices or just the text?2. The game isn't all self-voicing? Or am I missing something? Most things besides character dialogue still seem to be spoken by sapi. are those supposed to be human voices too? Especially your character's dialogue is not voiced. Reminds me of shadow rine in that way.

one more question, and it has to do with monsters scaling to level? It seems that as I level monsters in the open world are getting stronger by comparison. I'm on the roads and regular monsters that are easy to beat are showing up in much larger groups and I'm starting to see guy I normally had to stray a good deal from the beaten path to find. So do the monsters you encounter scale with the total level of your party?also, if they do, does this also happen in dungeons? I've encountered some pretty easy dungeons that didn't seem to get harder as I leveled up, as animal dens of 1000 gold piece bounties often still have almost laughable small groups of giant rats in them frequently, but my strategy was to avoid doing any really high-price bounties until I leveled some more, but I might take the plunge if the enemies in these dungeons are getting stronger as I get stronger.  I tried a 2000 gold dungeon yesterday and it had woolly rhinos in it. If I were to have tried that at a higher or lower level, would the monsters be of stronger or weaker varieties? or perhaps be in smaller or larger numbers?

A few features I wonder if we could get

So, I was wondering if we could get a few things other forums have. The first would be spoiler tags, inside these tags, you put all your juicy secrets, then when you submit, it turns that into an expandable thing that you click on, so you don't see the spoilers unless you choose to expand that area. The second is the same thing, but for code snippets. We do have a developers' room after all, so it would be nice to have code tags. What we have now when you use the [ code ] is only for demonstrating BB code without it being executed.

thrilled! I got access to the city now! can't wait to play it. also, was thinking of a special adventure game board "The Chaos" this is a board that would instead of having a solid set of games, would actually simply select random games from throughout the other worlds and put them in, thus you get a different set of challenges each time.I also thought of a survival mode, well stole it from a couple versions of MarioParty actually. In this mode all the games you have unlocked will be thrown at you endlessly. You play ones that are randomly selected for you until you get a negative score on one, at which point you are done and the game is over. The goal is to see how many you can consequitively win without getting a negative score, perhaps getting a gem as a reward for every 5 or 10 you manage to finish. before losing, and maybe it would switch into hardcore mode after a certain point or otherwise maybe make the scoring requirements harder, possibly the rules could be you have to beat a -10 for the first 5 games, then -5 for the next 10 then 0, then 5 and eventually if you don't get 10 you lose.

A Hero's Call, all the way, no other choice really.I tried Audio Strike but when the installer came up in a language I didn't understand, I aborted it, then deleted it. Doesn't really matter though, for a space invaders like game I have Judgement Day and Space Encounter, so I don't really need another one.

You can complete the quests in any order you like.Jade, to sidestep, simply use left and right arrow keys. This game is designed for you not to face any direction unless you snap using shift and your arrow keys. Pressing them without shift will make you side step in whichever direction. If you're facing north and hit a wall, for example, side step left or right and you may find other paths to go down.SPOILERS AHEAD!For the runestones, look in the various mausoleums. There are three of them, and five mausoleums if I remember. Until you get acces to others, only one is available... so it shouldn't be hard to find. Flack is great if your media player supports it, unfortunately I don't think any of the Victor Reader series does, so ripping to flack would be rather pointless and useless. I myself use MP3Ripper, it's simple, effective, and rips to a format the Victor Reader series supports.

thankfully i was able to get this title for free for the time they had it at the time.  its a fair time passer i guess but because i have ran across many text based titles, i do sadly get bord with it rather quickly.  for there is no sound.  like others, this has its place to pass time by but gets boring for me quickly.  if it had the ability to add sounds and or have one have them or mute them then it would be better.   then i could get in to it.

Hmm, so I just paid Markus to join me, but I can't find him now.My party was full at the time, so I assumed he would be in the large southern bedroom with the others, but nope. He's not in his own room either, nor outside the tavern.I left the city walls and came back, but no luck with that either. Other people are talking as if they've played along side his character so it must be working for someone right?But I've also heard mention that he abandons you? so maybe I'm far enough along to where he just left at the same time as I paid him, lol.

Are we required to do the main quests in a certain order? I've been going to the woods, the graveyard etc getting various sidequests. I went to the Graveyard and found the Barrior, but I couldn't get any hints on how to use alexia to get more information regarding what to do about it.I see Liam started with the Darkwood and Forest first but is that necessary?

ok, so Scrolling battles your world is deffenetly my favorite. Not just because from interesting maps to who can complete x map in y minutes and z seconds, but simply the people who play that game are cool. Sure there are some party brakers from time to time, but they get banned pretty quickly, and over all that's one of my favorite online games.I cant say anything about AHC, though from what I have heard it sounds pretty awesome.Cyclopath is one of those games whitch I had problems starting, then when I managed to run it, found out to my shock that I just sucked at it. I did manage to get to some level, but after some time I have decided that I wasn't clearly a type of a guy for that game, though maybe I could try it some other time and who knows, maybe I would really manage to get somewhere .Audiostrike is a game whitch I quite like, though I didn't play it much so I cant give a ferr review about it.I didn't play dark defender and Echo quadrant so I cant say anything about them.and as regards games not listed on that list.one of the games whitch I really enjoyed was scrolling battles rewrite. when I first downloaded, that day and the day after I have almost spent 100% free time on it. I think I reached the level 50 by then. sure after about level 140 it was really boring, taking that almost all weapons would kill an average enemy in one hit, but because you can expand it with everything from enemies and weapons to pits and characters, it's always fun to play. Humans vs robots was one of the games that I really liked, though when I have reached level 130 od it got boring.all in all, I think that my end vote on this is going to be SBYW.

@samy, I don't mean to destroy your hopes or anything, but the victor reader stream/trek firmware is not a normal Linux OS. Added to that is the fact that the libraries are statically linked and the kernel is heavily modified and developing a firmware then becomes most likely impossible without the libraries Humanware used, and the likelihood of you getting access to that is nil.

Can someone help me with the heart of the deepwood area? Someone told me I needed to find a ranger's journal on the south side of the rings (I assume it appears in a random location in any part of the area, but I can't find it) but I just do not see it anywhere. I also can't find any way to progress forward because vines are blocking me. I found one lever but I'm not entirely sure what it did, I guess it opened ring 2?

Hi,@Thork: if you believe me or not, exactly text games based on choices of user wrote by text commands leaded me into Ride's il based navigation.About 27 years ago, there was computer developed specially for blind users called Eureka a4. It had a simple surface - text editor, notes editor, alarms manager, calendar and few other functions, including... programming interface!Exactly for this, Eureka a4 becomed very popular in Czechoslovakia, after division Czech and Slovak republic. Eureka basic, as was this programming, or better sayd scripting language called, was very simple and straightforward, what made many people able to write programs and share them with others. It is possible, that this is well known history, I don't know history of this computer in other countries, but as I sayd, it was very popular. Czech and Slovak blind community organized programming courses to teach people Eureka basic, and they created then many textual games, enthusiastic they can use computer.20 years after, in 2013, I was very interested with  this computer too. Marek Susčík, Czech programmer, developed a convertor for programs wrote with Eureka basic, using original recorded sounds which Eureka produced, so games converted by it to modern Windows systems were highly authentic. Sometimes I wasn't able to finish some text games. It was not always my mistake, I played for example a game, where author did have little chaos in world directions, for example there was a scene, where a big abyss was on your east, and stable ground on your west. But when you vent west, you falled to the abyss and when east, you returned to ground.For this situations, I read source codes. And it was very simple in most cases. I not mean by it only that I was able to understand what will code do, but I was also able to very quickly search what I wanted, avoiding unvanted options. For example, if I wasn't able to find how to continue in game from one position, I found according part in source code. And then options which I already tried weren't interesting for me, I searched just for those I haven't tried yet, and which allowed me to continue.For that, just referring to lines, instead of writing them directly under conditions speed up searching a lot.Later, I tried to write some text games in Windows. I used many programming languages for this, but none from them was that effective like Eureka basic. The reason was simple: there was no longer possibility to refer lines, so there were just 2 methods, how to write text games. A. make codeblock for every possibility in every situation, b. create method for every possibility.If I choosed method A, problem was, that code get messy quickly, because there were many possibilities in each scene, including combinations of factors, I have get lost in many block levels soon. Solution B was less messy, but for other hand inpractical to write and read, declaring of methods is not that simple like referring lines, you must use minimally 3 lines to get sensible result, and when you onetime navigate somewhere, navigation back is not very simple.And here I started thinking: "Is there a way to simplify all these messy blocks?"Result you already know, Ride was developed, and I found all its other advantages gradually, many other things have simplified and cleared for me.So if you are asking: "Can Ride help me develop choice based text games?" My answer is yes.If you are asking: "Will Ride help me developing games in Choice script?" My answer is I don't know.I browsed link you posted, I saw examples of Choicescript in action, but I can't say if Ride will or will not help until I actually try it. In other languages I am sure about answer, because I am writing from my experience.But anyway, actual decision what you will or will not use is on you. Hi,@Dragonlee: thumbs up for a great description. Ladders for example are already included in Blindcraft, I used them a lot when climbing high mountains, now I modified terrain bit, so gradient is smaller and can be climbed easier.I was thinking about automjumping, but during concrete play it would be rather disadvantage than advantage, from what I know already. Jumping is not problem in places like forest, where are now many hillocks and similar stuffs, but is harder on mountains, where it however is required I think to climb be not that easy. Just curious.Spoilers ahead, of course.Has anybody managed to complete the quest to mark the bandit ambush spots? I honestly can't tell if I'm doing it right, I've been through what seems like the entirety of deepwood adding beacons to places that seem like they'd be right, but I get no confirmation whatsoever, and nothing ever pops up when I enter any specific areas.Any help would be muchly apreciated.Thanks.

It makes more sense to do as the developer has asked and send your bugs in an enamel or whatnot.As far as the game-breaking bugs though, thanks for the warning. I'll be on the lookout for those.Also, thanks for answering my semi-spoilery questions.Asan aside, folks, there are a great lot of you lately who are just going ahead and spraying your questions with no spoiler tags. You're doing this even after Dark has kindly asked you not to do so. All you need do is put the word spoiler on a line by itself, or some such thing. Give people a little consideration so they don't get spoiled by reading, like, the first seventeen words of your text and suddenly finding out that x is related to y, or whatnot. I'm not going to give any specific examples. Just please have a little more concern for others. You know who you are. I'm not naming names.As far as my issue with navigation...look, I get it. The sound reference helps hugely. All I mean is that a lot of the paths are really fiddly. There are bits of rubble, hedges, thickets, fences, walls and other obstructions all over. In some areas it feels like items are put in your way just to make it a challenge to get from point a to point b. I am struggling more with that navigation than I think I should be. In real life I don't struggle with navigation anywhere near this much, and in an RPG in particular it seems a little incongruous. But that's just my opinion. This is by no means a game-breaker of an issue. It's a preference thing. I am getting used to moving around - I have my whole party now, after all - but I confess that when looking for more specific things, it can be a bit like the proverbial needle in a haystack, and sometimes it takes me out of the world and back into the head of someone who's trying to fiddle with a program.
