Google search page constantly refreshing in Firefox with NVDA

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I use CTRL-K in Firefox to go to the search field, do a Google search for something, then navigate the results by headings as usual. For the past few months sometimes when I use H to jump headings the page will refresh, which either makes NVDA speak the title of the page and what I'm focused on again, or worse, puts me in the search field, so that H is appended to whatever I was searching for and the search is executed yet again. Don't recall exactly when this started, so can't be sure if it's a Firefox updade, one of my addons, NVDA or something else. It's annoying as hell though.

I wouldn't say it's hate, exactly, so much as "can we minimize the need for it?" / "can we do better?".Speed. Regular Mario has time limits. I don't remember what they are, exactly--60-90 seconds, IIRC? I dropped the time limits in my version because that would have been insane when relying on the cursor and object list. I suspect this is one of Aaron's complaints, too, since The Gate and Psycho Strike are pretty fast-paced all around.Immersiveness, although this isn't quite so big a deal since it's more or less like a cane or extendable hand.Detail. This is sort of twoedged: on the one edge, it enables much more detailed maps than we generally get, with much less audio clutter. On the cutting edge, it puts a limit on resolution, unless we want to devise some complex tile scheme. To be fair, old games (and Windows itself) had to devise complex tile schemes to get around hardware limita
 tions, but I rather suspect that old school 8x8 tiles, even with the much bigger pixels back then, are still smaller than the blocksize in Mario and BK3. Sure, we could use zoom or something, but that makes things even more tedious for the player, and distracts more from the action.I want to play mainstream-quality games! All the above limitations seriously restrain how deep into that style we can get. Notice that I didn't use the Mario cursor for Sonic. How would you even do that? And I think Sonic is actually tile-based under the hood (although no one could ever give me a straight explanation of how the levels are encoded; I assume someone just made a visual editor 20 years ago and all the mods use that.).The most complicated platforming puzzle in BK3 is a no-going-back maze, in which nothing else is happening. Time is not an issue, enemies are not an issue, and the closest thing to traps is the possibility of falling to your death in one spot.
  The most complicated platform puzzle in Sonic2 is a nightmarish climb up a chemical well via at least a dozen boxes that are constantly moving in complex patterns (and that's in 2-2). For things that are less complex than the box-hell, how about those bits in Mario that I replaced with paired lifts--the ones where you have two platforms connected by a pulley, and standing on one causes it to fall while the other rises, and if you let it go too far the lower one will just fall off? I tried to put some of the simpler standard platform puzzles into the Swamp Experiment, but based on the way people have talked about the Warehouse level, I'm not sure anyone even realized there's a way to get to the roof... and even though I eventually gave in and added a cursor to that, I don't think it would help much in that sort of situation. I can think of two maps I made for LC before I even got here in which the point is to reach the top via a series of moving platforms, inters
 persed with things that throw fire at you. I'm starting to worry those won't be viable - and those were originally designed with the engine used in Mario in mind!OK, so in Mario, you can pause the game and look around to try and get a less urgent idea of where moving things are. I have recordings of me playing Mario from early 1995 where I occasionally pause to get a better look at the screen (then die anyway). There are games that restrict the ability to do that sort of thing, sometimes by dimming the screen, sometimes with some sort of pause logo or menu or status message, and in one noticeable case, by making all the sprites disappear (this was not always a disadvantage, mind you). BK3 doesn't let you use the cursor while paused, but it's also carefully designed so that doing so wouldn't make a difference anyway. What do I mean? How many situations are there where you need to worry about enemies and platforms at the same time, or about tim
 e-sensitive platform-hopping? (The answer is the bossfight in 5-4, and the stealth missions... but mostly just the stealth missions.)

@Firefly, those are the correct lines, but off hand I am not sure why that is happening in the snapshot version.I upgraded to NVDA 2015.4, so at least I'm up to date now.Thanks for being willing to use the 2015 version for now.@CAE_Jones, yes I account for numbers and at least English names.Those all get replaced by number substitutions before I check for it in my database or send the text to google.Then those number substitutions get replaced with their original English characters or numbers before they are sent back to the player.So this means text like:Ian has 5 rice balls.Or:CaeJones has 10 rice balls.Where the obvious words are in Japanese, only get translated once.The number substitutions occasionally cause problems because google gets over zealous and turns the number 1 into the word January when there are numbers that look like a date.This has been a problem for the BK3 load game menu for instan
 ce.In those cases I have been fixing them manually.I had about 3000 translation records before sharing the addon publicly and this problem happened on very few records, so for now it is not a big deal.I'm sure there will be other improvements as time goes on, fortunately I should be able to make them server side so I don't have to rely on people upgrading.

(If so, how do you recognize names, what with it seeming unlikely those could be narrowed down to an obvious regular _expression_?)Asking only because accounting for those no-need-to-translate variables would probably make it way more efficient (and cheaper).

moore2it, are you using NVDA or another screen reader?The addon only works with NVDA.The addon is supposed to download with the nvda-addon file extension.The exact file name is: JGT.nvda-addonNVDA addons are technically just zip files, perhaps your browser noticed that and put the .zip extension on the end.You could change the extension back to .nvda-addon and try the instructions I posted earlier.It is also possible to extract the files yourself and put them in the NVDA addons folder, but the first is probably easier.

When I download the addon, I get a .zip file, and nothing seems to happen when I press enter on it besides the computer saying that it can't open it. I tried unzipping it and pressing enter on the files contained within the folder, but still nothing haha not sure what's up.

Hi firefly, that is possible.To be honest I am still using version 2015.3.I will ensure it works in at least 2015.4.If you press NVDA + F1 it will bring up the NVDA log viewer.You can start at the top and go down until you find some lines that say error at the front.Then send me those lines and a few before and after them so I have a better idea of what the error is.Thanks for your patience, bugs are inevitable in newly released software, and up till now I have been the only one testing this.

Hi Ian! After installing the addon i got the error-sound of NVDA on startup. I cant find any new menus in the NVDA-options. I am using the newest NVDA-Snapshot. Maybe your addon is only working with the regular versions of NVDA?

If you are using an installed version of NVDA, just press enter on the addon after you have downloaded it.Alternatively you can open the NVDA menu with NVDA + N.Then go to tools > manage add ons.Then press the install button and choose the addon in the open file dialog.

hi,With CPUZ, I did a scan and it reported that the nominal voltage of my memory slots was 1.35 volts. So I will need to get modjules rated as 1.35 volts. I have many driver services running in the background, some of which I can't disable. I want to upgrade my ram because frequently I find myself reaching it's limit when opening large documents, webpages etc. Also the added benefits of using dual channel memory.  Additionally, I found out my motherboard can take 1866 mhz ram. Would adding that type of ram by replacing both sticks give a good performance increase?

I use dspeech for most of the speech and sounds, using external programs only for non sapi synths. throughout my serieses, the only external programs I had to use were sp025 and dectalk 4.3, and those were only for 2 voices that made a cameo appearance in an episode of sue and cristal where they attack measure92, wich was a measure being proposed in Origon at the time.

I've just released my Japanese Games Translator addon for NVDA.  JGT for short.See the JGT, the easy way to play ShadowRine and BK3 in English. thread for details.I realize Yukio has been working on a hand written translation, but this is a good option until that is complete, or to use in tandum to fill in the gaps for things that have not yet been translated.JGT provides a better integrated solution than QTranslate, but still uses the automatic translation of the google translate service.

Just got 6dragons a shot! Man I like this mud!:)As for Clok, it seems like vip soundpack contains more sounds than mush one. But I don't think I'll change the client anyway. Just scripted fletching and woodworking sounds to work, haha.If only avalon had sounds...but it's not hard to make triggers. Still though...mud with no sound is like tasty food with no flavour (though I admit i had fine time playing cyber assault with no sound, lol)Hmm, any more muds with sounds out there? would be nice to know about them.

Google search page constantly refreshing in Firefox with NVDA

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. I use CTRL-K in Firefox to go to the search field, do a Google search for something, then navigate the results by headings as usual. For the past few months sometimes when I use H to jump headings the page will refresh, which either makes NVDA speak the title of the page and what I'm focused on again, or worse, puts me in the search field, so that H is appended to whatever I was searching for and the search is executed yet again. Don't recall exactly when this started, so can't be sure if it's a Firefox updage, one of my addons, NVDA or something else. It's annoying as hell though.

I've just released my Japanese Games Translator addon for NVDA.  JGT for short.The JGT addon lets you translate text while playing Japanese audio games. It focuses on 2 things:First, to give newcomers to Japanese games the simplest experience possible to get started playing and enjoying them. Meaning, it requires less software to install and things to configure than other solutions, and gives you step by step instructions to get started.Second, to provide a more automatic and seamless translation experience than is currently supported by other sets of tools. Not really anything I can say that hasn't already been said, but I'm also terribly sorry this happened. I live in an area of the US with large forest fires every summer since I've moved here. While my family and I have never been in any direct danger, it's definitely unnerving; the air is smoky for a long time, and in many places you don't want to stay outside for too long, so the possibility we could lose the house has been real. Hello,Blindgamer95 is my channel. I use Gold Wave in a virtual machine on my Macbook Air. I also have a 2006 Mac Mini that runs Leopard and Tiger. All I do is create individual audio files from both systems and mix them together. If I need sounds, I mix the sounds with the speech clips or just play them. However, I'm starting to lose interest in producing these videos. This is mainly because Youtube makes so difficult to upload audio only videos. I'm also just not as interested as I used to be. I need to finish my current TTS series about Alex and the NSA.

Hi everyone,So I really want to start one of these TTS series that, well, it's not really hyped but it certainly has it's community. Thunderbirds101, AT88TV, etc channels on Youtube.I'm not sure who blindgamer95 is on Youtube, but I'm curious to know how they got Windows and Mac voices together. With my series, I want to put a whole bunch of voices together--I have a feeling I've got the Mac voices covered, but hell, not only do I want the Microsoft voices which I can use Speakonia for that, I'd like to add Dectalk in there as well.As for BGM I could use Amadeus for that I suppose. Unlike Blindgamer95, though, I'm on Bootcamp, so I might have to do a Mac exclusive series.

I'd love sounds in clok next time I play if they will work with vip.Six dragons is fairly good fun, though I seemed to get a little stuck at finding quests, the soundpack is good though. I don't really get the jaws avalon thing though, sinse it never seemd overly spammy to me, maybe ask on the avalon forum sinse I know there are some other high ranking vi players who use Jaws. In the mean time hope you like six dragons. My character is an angel called lyradel say hi if I'm on there, though currently as I said I'm a little otherwise occupied.

Hmm, I'd probably give 6th dragon a go. Just got the soundpack yesterday and it sounds quite nice. As for avalon, I stopped playing it (despite the urge) because my stupid jaws spammed the crap out of me, and i couldn't follow the screen well enough because it kept repeating certain lines. I may give it a go another time, and really hope there's a soundpack for that. (for now i'm glad i have fully function clokpack with lots of customized stuff. Can't give it yet since most of my added triggers aren't scripted)

Ok, I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I'm putting it out anyway. I'll also say that I have had some experiences where a person I've met online dooped me into believing she was one person, when in reality she was playing a character and a sick game, married with three kids the whole timeYou say that you can see yourself holding her, kissing her. How is this possible only via text, and seeing as you've never met in person. From looking at both your and her twitter accounts, that's all I see is textual things, or RP. Granted there could be things not posted and I'm missing things because of this. I've also been in the situation where strict parents played a part, both on my end and the girl's end. I have also had successful relationships that just in the end didn't work out, but had good times with the person. What I'm seeing from my point of view here is all RP, and no real face-to-face interaction. If you do
 n't get help with that, you'll only draw yourself deeper into sadness and depression.As I said, I could be wrong on all this, and you could have a great relationship, and your parents are just being the ones in your way. But I think they could also have valid points and are trying to make you not fall into the same trap I fell into. Either way, you need to make something happen to either show your family she's real and the fact you have a great thing going, or go along with your parents, and get the help you may need. But only having a relationship based on role play is not good because it puts you in situations that you're in now. If you both agree to talk to each others families, then you can take the steps to meet in person. But until you do that, or find out the truth, you're going to keep falling into this trap and depression.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't expect too much. Even the best fighting game stories tend to be badly written... MK X had a good presentation, but the plot was full of holes, as are all the blazblue and Guilty Gear games. lol I will probably play the main story mode once or twice and spend the rest of the time just beating the AI and fighting online.

The Accessible *BSD Effort

Hi guys. I am here to gauge interest on a project I might undertake in a couple of months in relation to the BSD family of operating systems. This project would increase the number of accessible operating systems for blind people, as well as give them a broader taste of the UNIX working system (something other than Linux, in other words). So, if I did undertake this effort, would anyone here actually use it? Do you know of anyone in the market that could benefit from my efforts? If anyone has taken on a similar effort, can you share tips and pointers? Thanks for your help and feedback!

I really don't understand this though. I really love the camera system in those plattforming games. Sure you can use echos and stuff to signalize plattform stuff, but one problem I have with ps and the gate is that they are sidescrolers, which don't offer anything really youneaque. Plattforms have, untill now only been seen in 2 games, really. From what I know, the 2d swamp thing you made was intended to be a prototype. Now folows a list of things, any of which aaron could imploment in his current sidescrolers or future ones.1: imploment something that makes this better than, say super liam. Just do something that ither hasn't been seen before, has been seen very rarely, or at the very least make a plot for the game that motivates you to continue. Not just the prospect of unlocking weapons, make more unlockables, and make the missions more interesting by adding things like dynamic ambience, as i aproached in this game a number of times (plattforming), and/or o
 ther random factors to make the missions a bit more unpredictable.2: change the entire movement system to first person or top down, which would at least be an excuse to not add the plattforming elements other than "I hate the camera thing and I'm too lazy to think of any other way to present plattforms to the player.2or 3: lower the price. Sorry to say this but... the games are just... not worth the 25 and 35 bucks respectivly. Its just... the content you'd expect for that amount of money these days is not there. Audio game developpers can make far better things and sell them for more than they could do 10 years ago. A game like troopanum or judgmentday souled so good when it first came out because:a: It was new, and never seen in the audio game industry before.b: They all had something that greatly encreesed their worth and replay value. Troopanum had the many combinations that could be done with difficulty and missions combined, also with the
  lengthening of the gameboard and other things ingame. Judgmentday had audio clips, games, trofies with audio describing them in a very humerous way, 2 different ending cutseens and a fourth difficulty level.

I wish I could say management actually cared, but as I hinted in post 7, they've only been concerned with the bare minimum.  To reenforce this statement, their PR lady basically told us that they were planning to simply let the walls dry out and only replace sections o the carpet if necessary.  Since she doesn't agree with this move, she has already stated she would help us with the paper work and the process for closing on this lease.Insurance?  Can't say I had any.  Paying 800 dollars in rent was hard enough on top of every other bill we had to tackle on low income.  They are not going to bother to try and replace anything whatsoever.  We'll sell what we can and trash what we can't.  All we know is taht we can't live there anymore, even with the half hearted atempts they are making to try and make that place livable.  At any rate, the water remains off, the mold is starting to grow, the ceiling is slowly
  but surely falling through, pieces of it right over our now useless and ruined matress, and we're just happy the fire department acted as quickly as they did, placing tarps over anything and everything they could to try and keep some things salvageable.I can't say donations wouldn't be absolutely and entirely apreciated; every single cent would pave every step of the way, but I'm not asking for anything, nor will I hodl any member of this community to it by any means.  Right now, I'm just ever so thankful for all of the kind and supportive, affirmative words I've received.  One can argue that actions speak louder than words, but I don't generally find that any person who has taken time out of their day to even so much as think about one in distress is doing wrong by doing so, since they could just as easily concentrate on their own life.  I thank each and every one of you for your time and atention as well as your kindness.

Street Fighter v story mode details!The game will ship with individual character stories, in the same style as the tutorials already seen in the beta. Images and still animated scenes, plus voice work, is the rumour. A more cinematic expansion will follow in the summer as a free update, though there's no word about the format, whether it will be actually like MK X's story mode or Guilty gear XRD's. Final beta running this weekend Saturday and Sunday, and then two weeks until release!

Hi [[wow]] thats really tough.I have had drives fail, on me and barely escaped with my teeth I havn't had it crashing down.Insurance will probably cover a lot of this stuff.Your apartment landlord will most certainly have some sort of insurance or manager or something.My dad rents houses quite a few of them with a manager and repair person and  complains about the cost from time to time.It all depends if the plumming was an avoidable issue if it was put in poorly which can happen or if it was a failier.The dishwasher in our house gets left on all the time, its automatic so it always turns off as does the washer but they can fail.Only once were we home when the dishwasher just kept going on and on, there was an error on screen and we were able to get it fixed so the washer being failing could just be the fact that it chose that moment to die.Saying that my aunt keeps her washing machines and stuff off while not in use and I 
 mean off at the wall.I know my grandpa now he is getting into his 90th year has had to modify his life due to hearing, so vertually everything from the dishwasher and washing machine  to unused electronics is always off unless needed and while many in the family could call it overkill its probably why he does that.Saying that we have just had a problem with an indian family in one of our houses and we had another issue with a chinese family in another.To put it bluntly they don't treat equipment as we ourselves would normally do so.So a 10 year bit of equipment may last 6 months or something like that.They fry stuff, they don't open the windows, and in one case there is a person affraid of going outside so she never gets the mail because of bugs.The health hazzards and repairs are huge!We get a lot of issues with inspections, failing and dieing equipment etc.In the end we have had to install cheap equipment with shorter
  lifespans just to be able to afford replacements so its a hard one.The thing is these people pay the rent on time and have never been late.They don't do drugs, they follow the rules so we are stuck.I mean you can't evict people for being messy or closing their houses from day to day even though they get mouldy as heck or at least not that easily.Some of these people can't afford more expensive places, and we have rents to put up and try to delay things.Then again I know some building owners can be really bad.My mum works in a building owned by someone that just mas produces them and does it cheap the quality is not good and from what I have heard they are not interested in fixing anything.So if your landlord won't fix things or insurance won't pay out because of something or whatever then it will be hard.We have a similar issue country wide.in early 2002 through 2006 a cheaper building material was found
 , plasterboard.It looks like brick but at the fraction of the cost.Not surprisingly every man and his dog jumped on the band waggon.However it turned out that the material was a great holder of water and it leaked.There were also questional builders and others.Everyone that used it and there was a lot that did was in trouble.Builders were sued, councils and suppliers were sued, it was a full on mess.The only way to replace things is to take the outside off the house and replace all the material or simply bole the house and start again.Any house that is plaster even if it does not leak now has a hard time selling.Inspections have gone up, my uncle has had to have a lot of strengthening work done on the house to meet inspection and the costs and fines for doing this are huge.The leaky building crisis has largly passed but even so its not good.There are still cases where concrete is not good to and in one case my uncle h
 ad to get an entire wall replaced.One thing, if all went to pot  I think I will be able to pack my charger, laptop, hdds flashes etc into one bag I think.The keyboard is a mechanical one and is spill rated I am not sure about flood rated but it will probably survive.Books well I have a few, if they go then well they go.Cds I have quite a lot, but who knows about that.My clothes well losing those will suck as will my bed.The rest of the stuff, my stereo bar the cd player, drawers etc are stuff I have had in the family for years, most of it is quite cheap and scratched.I won't moan over those going.My shelves and desk I may be sad for a little bit but I have been thinking of replacing some of this anyway.Hopefully you can dry everything out and it will work.your flash stuff will probably be ok.As well as anything in plastic  cases like hdds.I am not sure about laptops/ computers but if you can pull 
 it all apart and dry it all then maybe.I havn't been in that situation not yet and I hope I never do.Saying that  if you put it another way you could put all this down to training for the apocolipse which is coming but the date keeps changing.

@Marta, six dragons pack is an msp pack, it's not for mush or like the alter pack it's the same way sounds in materiamagica work, people have run it with mush and there is some help in the game on how. As I said it's not like the alteraeon pack, but there's definitely a lot of extra stuff to listen to. As to reward units, as I said, mm should be quite playable without, and nobody will think less of you. Avalon doesn't so much have paid and unpaid status as it is a paid game which you can play for free (as many people do), by being a frequent player and contributing to the experience. The payment thing has put some people off, but wen it says in the game the community is good and will freely accept players whether they pay a subscription or not it's not lying. If your interested I'd highly recommend avalon.

Yes, I also get the background reading to me, but I am not sure if it is intended. It's in the menu screen while crafting. It often shows me my current equipment mixed directly in with what I can craft often confusing me as I swipe through what I can craft.The map however doesn't show to me like it did in Battle Arena and I haven't seen it anywhere else thus far.

I know because I've had to use them before, and for those that haven't had to do so and feel shame at the idea, well, it gets allot easier once you realize how much stuff these places get and literally have to give away or throw away, and the more they give the more funding they get, generally, since they have to document everything carefully and that all gets submitted when it comes time to dole out.Plus you can meet some really nice people and volunteer for even an hour or two a day if you want, for something to do to keep your mind off your situation and give back a bit at the same time.  You don't even have to do the normal stuff like sorting cans or moving bags of clothing in from the donation area; which, as a blind person, can sometimes feel like your actually slowing things down, and instead you can do stuff like speed up their computers with some registry cleaning, disk defragmentation, malware removal
 , and temp file deletion, all from a 10 dollar flash drive with portable NVDA and some free apps, using the NVDA remote Add-on so that you don't even have to deal with a  weird keyboard or anything.At least your daughter is unlikely to remember any of this, and at her age she's probably just happy to have a colorful spinning toy, a soft stuffed animal to sleep with, some mashed pees, a clean diaper, and parents that love her. It should say the exact voltage somewhere...Either way if your upgrading, just check your motherboard's specifications online using the model number.You can also disable allot of useless programs that run on startup and leech your RAM, instead of paying for more.Try "msconfig" and "services.msc" just don't disable anything you don't understand without making a system restore point before hand, and make sure to check the "black viper" website for the safest services to disable in your version of Windows.It can really help allot!

So I'm very sure this game will never ever not even in a quadrillion years and 2 hours be updated, but I still suggest to make more kinds of animals spawn on the farm, so that you can kill things like chickens, pigs, cows etc It would certainly add a bit of variaty to the game. Aaron, in the interview with the grenade arcade you said something I wanna bring up. I know that this has to do more with the gate than ps, but it could still be used here. You said the reason you didn't add plattforming and full 2d support was because you didn't like the camera system from games like bk3 and 2dp. Well, what didn't you like about it? And to the things you didn't like, how do you think you could improve them? The next step would be, could I add those into the game? And if you could, then the last step would be to add them. You don't need to reuse the same systems, just invent a new one for displaying plattforms, stairs and ladders with audio.
