Here's a 7Z of the sounds from the commercial Super Liam. Re: Some Python Questions

There's Python 2 to 3 convert script if you really need to feel the difference. However, once you get enough Python coding experience, you'll be able to transition to Python3 easily.Yep, the bad fact is that many libraries are still incompatible with Python3, and that's why many devs stick with 2. For example, NVDA is stil maintained in Python2, because wxPython Phoenix for Py3 is still under development, there's no Scons for Python3 (I believe), and they wanna keep XP compatibility for some time. I think Chicken Nugget and TWBlue are also written in 2 due to wxPython and some other that currently work better with Py2.

Re: python help.

Regarding LibAudioVerse and how hard or easy it is for beginners, you can't make game with 3D sound with no experience in programming at all. You really can't. There's no beginner friendly 3D library. OpenAl for Python as an alternative is even harder to use, as all functions are low-level type. As a beginner, you're best to go with 2D sound and Pygame. Don't use Pyglet, you'll get confused. Use Pygame as it's more beginner friendly, then after you get some experience you can try switching to Pyglet vs. Libaudioverse combination. And, regarding Python3, it certainly has some really nice features that I like, especially some implemented in 3.6, but compatibility with external libraries is still worse than with Python2. Therefore, it's quite normal that some devs don't wanna switch to or even recommend Python3.

@GuirtarmanI don't think its a fear of moving forward, so much as how puerile and arbitrary he finds Python 3 to be. I won't get into it either, but if you feel so inclined do a bit of reading on the subject and decide for yourself. The other option would be PyAL or Pyglet if you want to expand its OpenAL bindings, you'd need to install OpenAL as well though, so maybe just as involved as libaudioverse. I do have some example scripts around though.

Re: Survive the Wild!

a suggestion for stw developer. Could you please add farm animals such as goat, cows, sheep, and horses that if you catch and domesticate them you can then ride them get places faster and have battles on horseback? and also build barns for animals and a shelter nearby so you can then make or craft your own farm? also maybe add a greenhouse on one of the maps so you can get plants for your farm. to make a farm you'd have to clear an area of trees and stuff, craft a barn, collect farm animals that are running wild and bring them back to your farm. and maybe once they are in the barn they become domestic or tamed animals that you can then get milk from to help you survive, or you can kill and eat them such as chickens which you can either kill cook and eat, or get their eggs and eat them but they would not give you as much energy as eating chicken meat itself. also could you make wild turkeys that you have to shoot down with your bow and arrow that once killed you can cook and e
at, or put in your barn which over time the turkeys multiply and you'd have a good store of food. also having a domestic horse or two would let you then be able to craft a plow to add to your field wherever you decide to place your farm. and also other players could attack your farm and kill your domestic animals, come and raid your food supplies, or destroy it in general if they wish. or if you abandon your farm and the animals die the farm is automatically destroyed and turns back to normal forested land. that would be fun. you could use sheep wool for clothing, and you could catch and domesticate birds of prey such as hawks to help you more easily hunt rabbits. also perhaps you could catch and domesticate wolves that when brought to your barn over some time become dogs you can have help you hunt animals and protect the farm and structures you build. the dogs could also fend off other players and cause a certain amount of damage to them if they  get too close like guard
dogs. also to ride horses you would have to craft the equipment for that. you could ride without equipment but it would increase your chance of falling off and hurting yourself at which time you'd have to heal your character in the game.

What are the other options for liaudioverse? I was looking at it earlier and I am not sure I would recommend using that library for a new python programmer. It looks like it is a good library for audio, but the setup is a bit involved for beginners.

Re: python help.

Hi.I did not know about this, I just saw an add on his website that said he was writing learn python 3.6. I don't want to read posts about how python 3 is bad, I will probably use it someday so I don't want to turn against it before I know anything about it. It's strange that he's so against python 3, maybe he's afraid of moving forward.I figure I'll stick with python 2 for now, because most of the programmers I've talked to say python 2 has at least 4 or 5 more years before it's taken out. I think nvda is written in python 2, although they might have upgraded it to python 3 after all this time.

Yeah Jayde's guide is pretty good. Some of the transformation levels aren't completely accurate but with almost 200 Manamon to keep track of that's to be expected. Usually he's only off by a level or two either way so he does manage to stay pretty much in the ball park.

Post 423. There are lots of other things to kill on many other maps. But, a lot of those maps need a quite high level and high health to effectively kill the creatures on them. There are even other places you can get quests from. In fact, in  Lanshan, there is another task person you can accept quests from. On a lot of the other maps, there are other tasks. This is a very very well thought out game. I really enjoy it so much!!!

Though the audio descriptions in the DECTalk versions helped me understand what was happening a lot more. Re: Help with singing addon for nvda? please

For me, the main issue is how NVDA chooses to send strings. Since NVDA does not send speech as one large string, instead splitting it in to chunks, which could cause a command error if it occurs at the wrong time. If you must compose songs using NVDA, it would be a good idea to read them with say all or the arrow keys, depending on how your song is coded.

Re: 7th plane mud

Two things of note:First, 7th plane isn't really meant to be a traditional mud. The short descs are there mostly because most people use brief when playing a mud anyway. Lyianc's mentality was that there's enough information when you need it, and no fluff otherwise. Not everyone's cup of tea, but that's the idea.Secondly to Dark:if you're looking for a crafting mud, come try coffeemud. It has the most extensive crafting system I know of within the mud genre. For instance, if you kill a deer you can butcher it and will get meat, leather, horns and bones. The meat can be cooked in a variety of ways, the bones scrimshawed into furniture, weapons, and so on, the horns carved, the blood drank or even added to stews, the leather sewed and formed into any number of items. The crafting classes, namely artisan, sailor and gaoler get a pretty extraordinary number of crafting skills, each coming with a large set of items that can be made
. It has everything from blacksmithing to carpentry to Taxidermy to excavation to costuming and so on and so on.

Re: Accessible tools for creating sound fonts?

I didn't even know Polyphone was accessible. Last time I tried it, I couldn't do anything with it. Now I want to give it another look. The numbers and parameter names in sf2comp are a bit confusing, and to be honest a lot of them you don't even need, they're just there because when you decompile an existing sf2, those values are declared in it afaik. Most of the work I do in SF2comp is done by ear by testing stuff in Bassmidi. Tedious, but it works.I'd like to help you further but don't know how I would at this point. If you want we can resume this in PM or Skype or something else or we can continue in this topic. Up to you.

As a thought, or a simpler way of doing it why not have somethhing like..x:\games\warsim\warsim.exe -mod=Where xx is the mod name you want to load, like gameofthronestxt or whatever it is, that way you can load in the mod if you choose, or not. Also, being given the demon king in a vanilla game makes for fun, and crazy, times. I had a perfect unintentional soundtrack to my run earlier, started out as the demon king, Ring of Fire came on as I was mulling over my first turn, then Metallica, and Jerry Lee Lewis. I know for a fact I didn't plan that, ah, the joys of shuffling playlists

I believe I fixed it. I must've put a dot after the 7z portion in the URL. Anyways, this archive has a bunch of speak windows. If you get an error that you can't start any of them up (DECtalk 4.51 and 4.60 are examples), it's because you need GWDEC32.exe running on your computer. Some of the speak windows have been modified to allow you to export to WAV, where as previously you couldn't do it with anything past DECtalk 4.3.Here is the link again, this time I've tested it and it should work.http://grossgang.com/tts/dectalk%20soft … windows.7z

Re: Quests, quests, quests...

Dark, your point of view is absolutely valid, but only in games, which are planned, and functioning the way you described.I was referring to those games, which are planned to function totally differently, games, which feature large variety of creatures/monsters, with totally mixed skill-levels, who are sharing the same map region or area.(check the last part of my previous post)For such games, where one is initially supposed to be granted a totally free movement, all over the game-map, it is a literal sabotage to implement any type of movement restrictions or limitations, due any made out reason!I don'tknow your exact age, but I do hope you still remeber the old, initial Elite game, followed by its sequel Frontier, then by several, more-or-less successful remakes, clones, copies, all the way to the newest, online version of it, called Elite Dangerous.Or you cna also take Eve Online for an example. All those games featured, or still feature
hundreds of star-system where pilots can venture into, right from the very start of the game.True, we startt with a crappy ship, low skills or stats, and there are many weaker or stronger NPC enemies, meaning mostly pirates or even other players, all of them of different strength, and at different skill level, and we can run into them, or even into a group of them in any star system we visit, but we are still initially allowed to fly anywhere we desire, depending on our plans, strategy, mood, or gameplay-style we pick. Now what's the situation in the space-based browser-MMO called Core Exiles, which I am currently playing?Initially it also features hundreds of star-systems and planets, and many of those are still unexplored, just waiting for explorer-type pilots to be found and visited, but one is not allowed to leave even his/her starting system until he/she reaches level 10 or so, and achieving that requires accepting, and completing dozens of quite boring
quests, since that is the only efficient enough way, how new players can progress in the starting phase of the game...

Question regarding Purchasing a Windows license.

Hi all,For the longest time, I said I'd never consider using Windows or paying Microsoft a cent if their built-in accessibility didn't improve. Sooner than I expected, this took a complete 180 and I'm now playing with Windows 10 on my MacBook Air. However, there are a few things in the personalization sectionI can't configure and test unless I purchase a product key and activate Windows. If I purchase a license for Windows 10 Home from the Windows Store application, do I receive a product key that can be moved from computer to computer? I don't want to spend $120 only to have the license forever tied to my Mac hardware. If I'm paying $120, I need to know that the investment will last me a while. I know most computers come with an OEM copy of WIndows, but what if I buy more Macs in the future or build my own computer? I know the license can't officially be used on more than one computer at a time and that's fine, but I need to know tha
t I won't be out $120 if my Mac breaks down and I'm forced to move to another machine.

Well I'm now not sure which to train, though I just got my plasabot from the arcade wooo! lots of simon! .I do want the autosan though as well, btw, yes I know you can catch that later but I don't think I can rely on jimmina as an electric type constantly. Still my party isn't finalized yet as I have  possibilities of which manamon to take with me, though I'm getting on better than last time. one thing I do wish is that there could be a guide listing just the manamon, their evolutions and where they appear, since while Jayde's guide is great I don't always want to be told about areas, but I do want to check I get all the manamon throughout the game, which unfortunately will mean online trading sooner or later which is a bit irritating since I don't know if I want the hacky complications and shenanigans of extra
games of self trading and I'm not sure whether I can host on this machine or not.

Re: lack of the development in Survive the Wild and other issues

Ok Whoa whoa whoa, whoa, whoa. I think it's high time I step in here. This topic has gotten rediculis. I've been watching it for a while, and finally decided to post here my self. I won't go responding to peoples individual arguments or give names or... nothing like that, I'll just write about a couple random things I remember and put in a word of my own. I did not even come close to reading all of these posts, but just some random things. I remember a mension of unless it's more than a few lines of BGT I can't fix it so I'm not fit for developing games. And I guess apple is also not fit for developing phones because they have no voice over dictionaries, something many people have wanted for a while. seems so easy to code... Samsung is no longer fit for developing phones either because the note 7 exploded. It clearly proves with out a doubt that unless it's a couple pieces of plastic and a memory chip, Samsung has no idea what there do
ing. Etc etc. Disasters... disasters... It keeps coming up. People are furious for some reason that admins spawn disasters and the game doesn't do it on it's own. As plenty of people have said, the game does not need to spawn disasters on maps that have no people, there needs to be people to stop random people from going offline... I already hear the screams of code a fix code a fix! Code a safeguard system! My simple answer is this. My game is only as good as the humans who create it, watch over it, and administrate it. Any amount of code me, or bill gates, or you guys arguing this point could make, can be cracked, and will be cracked. I hope you guys post your annoyance to microsoft's forums for the simple fact that there operating system will always have exploits. I hope you will go tell all of the windows developers that they have no write to be coding operating systems because they can always be hacked. Seriously, that kind of stuff is just... S
orry but for me it doesn't make sense. You guys are frustrated that I have not updated the game in a while, and that there are some long standing bugs, like the look bug. Let me show you something. stw.bgt, 5060 lines. server.bgt, 9458 lines. That is exploding all includes, etc. Here, lets prove this even better. So I coded a simple script that goes threw the entire folder and accumulates the size of all the BGT scripts, and all of the lines. STW returned this. There are 30199 lines of code, and this project is 797 KB of code. This is all code managed by only me, and that does not include redspot or any other project that I may be working on. Hell, for all you know, I have not been working well on stw because I am working on another big game for you guys. Or possibly I am attempting to learn another language, so that I can use 3D audio libraries, proper GUI's... Who knows. Also, adding animals, doing this, doing that, this that what ever is n
ot very hard to code. OK, please, if you may, I'd like an exact description of how my animal code works, and how a new animal is added. Please include detail. Having a hard time providing that? That's what I thought. Please, try stating what is fact, and opinion. I'd appreciate that. You have no idea what is hard or what is easy to code, because it's not your game, It's not code you have looked at. Either way, the plain truth is that I can not please everyone. There are going to always be some people who don't like the way I am doing things. There will always be people with something bad to say about me for a reason that the rest of us are not gonna understand. I urge my supporters who enjoy my games to let these people have there reasons. If someone has a problem, just get my attention directly. I know I suck at responding to messages, but if you try you'll reach me. I don't mind talking about peoples issues, but 20 people s
aying there issues with the game at the same time and 20 + other people refuting what the haters are saying, is not the way to say it. The people saying bad things may have some very valid points, however this massive argument on the forum is not the way to properly be understood. Heard yes, but no one can understand you threw the uproar, even if it is only text. If I am unwilling to fix the thing you don't like, just go ahead and find another game. If you hate the iPhone, you switch to android and this is the same thing. I am a completely single person with several things to do. These games I make, there not my overriding passion. I do it as just another thing. Yes, one thing I enjoy doing, but also not something I will allow to take over my life. If I don't feel like coding my game for a week I won't code it. If you guys have a problem with that, I look forward to several new titles from several people with perfect tech support, administration systems, all around pe
rfect game play. Because the people who complain about my games, when you make your own game fixing all the issues with mine,

You know that the server is in china, and because that the lag issue will be more often and anoying that othergames 2. your current connection. To play smootly, you must have a good connection. minimum of 10 mb. With less is possible play but maive have connection drops.3. the curent loads of the server. If the server have mutch players connected the lag will be more. The most common problems with the lag are:disconnect after minutes of play, if the game can't stablish a good connection with the server. The enemies can attack you when are far to you.You can't dettect any player or enemy because the game can't load it because can't ask to the server if some player or enemy are in the area that you are walki

Re: Quests, quests, quests...

@Caccio on a purely aesthetic level I prefer it if I can enter a higher level area but get a warning than to literally have the area impossible to enter, though practically speaking they are the same thing, it's just one way I get jumped on by a huge hairy beasty if I wander off the path, the other I don't . I will agree if there is only one area for each level then things can become tedius, indeed this is one of my design problems with manamon since generally there are only a few manamon types of a given level in a given area and so if the type your using is weak to that area's type it can make progression rather troublesome, especially with the fact you don't get party xp and don't even get an item to share xp until rather later in the game.Btw, as regards quotes, just quoting text when you directly want to reference another's word
s rather than just what they said their generally is probably a good idea for board tidiness.

Re: Quests, quests, quests...

You are right Dark, I am aware of not using the "quote" function efficiently enough, and I apologize for that.My only "excuse" for doing that is, that it is much easier, and faster to me, to just quote the full post, by using the "quote" command here, than manually searching for, finding, selecting, then copy/paste certain targeted parts of, often pretty long, forum-posts or replies.(after all, I myself am a screen-reader user too you know...) But yes, I perfectly understand your point, so I shall rather avoid using the "quote" function in the future, unless I will consider it for inevitably necessary. As for skill-level adjusted areas, I probably disapprove them primarily due my, obviously enormous explorer-spirit, which cannot feel satisfied if it is let to venture, for example, initially only into the forest, and can visit the, for example, swamp or mountains, only after reaching a certain level, since I wish to be
able to explore them all, meaning all possible, existing map-regions and sites, (depending on my current mood), right from the very start of the game!

Re: Quests, quests, quests...

Dark wrote:@Mata I agree that manamon could have used to some improvements on the grinding, especially when experimenting with different manamon to see which can work. @Caccio, I can definitely agree with you about how good exploring is, however for me quests give me a reason! to explore and something to do whilst exploring rather than just wandering around and seeing character stats increase. A perfect example of this is alteraeon. This is an online game with full scale interesting combat. There are no doors or restrictions or locks on what areas you can go to, though of course walking into a higher level area before you've got tough enough to survive is not advisable. The game even rewards you for exploring areas directly with exploration points. However if all there was to do in the game was just combat and progress watch your character improve as you slay things there is no reason! to go exploring. I
've always found myself that simply going down into the goblin caves to slay goblins for no reason or just to grind stats holds little fascination, but being told to go and get something or kill the goblin king or given a task to do is a different matter entirely. It seems you got my concept of "exploring" wrong.By that term, I don't mean merely wandering around, without any plans or goal set for myselfs, but right the opposite of that:My aim while exploring is finding new, so far unseen areas, meet, and engage new, so far unknown NPC creatures or human players, loot some cool stuff from those I kill on my way, or even just find them randomly lying on the ground, visiting so far unvisited places, towns, sites, talk to so far unknown NPCs, and yes, accepting their offered quests as well, after all, if I happem to complete some of those during wandering around, even if unplanned, they will still mean unexpected rewards for my cha
racter...So no, exploration-centric gameplay doesn't have to automatically exclude accepting and completing quests, those 2 elements can be combined just fine...UNTIL those quests won't restrict our movement over the game-map in any way.And yes, I do also dislike when games have their areas adjusted to player's skill-levels, since that results in actual limitations of lower level players again, after all it wuld be quite foolish for them, to venture into realms with let's say 50 level higher/stronger monsters, so they would in matter fact still be restricted to areas adjusted for their current level. The kind of games I like the most feature areas with totally mixed types of creatures/monsters, of totally different level, plus NPC characters offering quests to players of various races and levels, so that it is worth to any player, at any current skill level, to venture into any of those areas, since everyone of them will, or at least can find
something suitable for himself, meaning things to do,like sites to visit and explore,  actions to perform, new monsters to encounter and fight, NPCs to talk to, quests to complete, stuff to loot or find, etc. From this aspect Gothador would be a perfect game for me, if only there would be not that many quest-dependent elements in it, which I already mentioned before...

Re: Inform7 questions

Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't try most of this, since inform is refusing to let me make a list. Clearly it's me doing something wrong, but I've tried defining it in what feels like forty nine different ways, and nothing works -- either I get an error saying inform doesn't see a verb it recognizes, or:Problem. The sentence 'X is a list of numbers with entries 1, 2, 3'  story.ni#line121 reads to me as if 'X' refers to something I should create as brand new - a list of numbers. But that can't be right, because this is a kind of value where I can't simply invent new values.I've tried writing it out like that, I've tried putting braces around the numbers, I've tried putting no punctuation, a semicolon, a period, I've tried "let x be" rather than "x is" (that usually gets me the no verb it knows how to deal with" error), I've tried writing entries in different ways (
t;contains the numbers", "are entries in x", "x contains the entries", "entries in x are"). I've even tried adding numbers individually, like "x is a list of numbers. Add 1 to x. Add 2 to x. Add 3 to x", and "x is a list of numbers. 1 is an entry in x..." etc. So then I wondered if I was being to verbose about it, and tried stuff like {1, 2, 3" are in x, or {1, 2, 3" is x. I got this error:Problem. The sentence '{1, 2,, 3} is numlist'  story.ni#line121 seems to say that '{1, 2,, 3}', which I think is a list of values, and 'x', which I think is an object, are the same. That can't be right, so I must have misunderstood. Perhaps you intended to make something new, but it accidentally had the same name as something already existing? So I thought OK, sure, x is just one letter, maybe that's too short or something. So I tried different words, like numlist. S
till didn't work. I went out to find some examples, and copied and pasted them. When that didn't work, I wrote them in character for character. Still didn't work.I don't blame inform; I blame myself for not knowing what syntax to use. But I've spent I don't know how many hours on this getting the same useless errors over and over, and have no idea what to try next.Help?
