Hi.Ah screw Carla, what I did is just speed through the levels on my own and blasted it all to bits before she could get in danger, worked out quite well I have to say.I am now in stage, urm, 13.1 I guess, last level was defeating the battleship, damb that was quite the hard one, I had huge problems avoiding the lasers, but I eventually made it. Now for blasting wals again and finding out what this darn laser is that always kills me.Greetings Moritz.

I think all things considered, this isn't the worst kickstarter offense in the history of kickstarter most certainly. While it is questionable that this happened, I think I must also agree it's worth waiting a few months to see what happens. If nothing else, if this is a big deal for those of you who backed this, take this is a lesson as to why backing crowd funding efforts is risky. Especially if the reputation of the dev in question is unknown. Reputation most certainly is the most important currency. I've definitely heard of more questionable situations when it comes to videogame devs doing crowd funding. Too much can go wrong, and when it does, it's bad for both the dev in question and the backers. Some devs handle the situation well. Others... Well... not so well. Let's see what the dev's next move is.

Hi,Thankee flackers, unfortunately I don't have the super yoyo yet, a bit too much of a hurry to get to 25, woops?I know you can get the yoyo somewhere in stage 15? but never even looked up the super yoyo, as I thought like many weapons it'd require the clear medal which you get after defeating normal mode,if I am not wrong,that is.Oh well, throwing the super shurican will be what I try,then.All this reminds me, there's a UFO catcher or some such minigame in a shop,I think after stage 16? from where you can get random collection items useful for making stuff, however that part isn't translated so you have no clue what if anything at all you get.Grryf

Well look, if form factor is the deciding factor, then I'd love to have a BrailleNote 40. I'm a real sucker for thumb keys. But I like the Focus for its buttons, for sure. When they did away with those god-awful "whiz wheels" I did a little dance of joy.Yeah. This display is for keeps, that's for certain. Works with JAWS and VO, easy switching to iOS, robust, long-lasting battery, a just-about-managing display and keyboard. It'll do, you know. It'll do.

OK, are you internally using OCR to determine where to click in the VSTI window? If that's the case, I guess it works with Reaper as well since the screen drawing is entirely done by plugin side and there is no difference between the host applications.I'm really excited with this because the approach is completely new. People used to create auto hotkey scripts and probably hardcoded the mouse position. Although I've heard that there is some image matching or recognition functionality in Autohotkey, I can't think that every script creator are using such a difficult thing because they have to extract the image data to match before implementing it.

Sort of...I can get through the first few stages of ep 1. But the screen for doing things with network connections on computers/systems is inaccessible with speech as of yet, unless it's user error, which is completely possible. The minigames involving man in the middle attacks and robot evading are also still cut out in ep 0, and I assume these will be needed in further segments of the ep. I like what I see of new characters though, and look forward to playing more. Has anyone actually done much with ep 1? I have gotten to the bit where I'm trying to follow someone through networks, though I may restart when their is more accessibility. Cheers to this team for going through a successful KS, and creating an awesome game!

I completely agree with afrim here.the iOS version of skype is fully accessible, however the program seams a bit slower and you have to double tap and hold on a chat to show additional options like hiding chats, marking it, ETC.as for the voice chat, the latest version now supports voice chatting. to do this, open a contact, and in the bottom after the text box to type a message, there is a button to record a voice message.and in this latest version, now you can change your display name through the my info screen, also in this version you can scroll your chats to the previous date.

Sonar X3 and Platinum are now accessible.   This works with NVDA and we've tested it in Sonar, but we aren't sure if it's fully accessible with other applications   My setup is SOnar X3 with Addictive Drums 2.    We're working to make it standalone, as well.I have another thread that talks about Sonar being acessible, along with several VST's including this one, now,  addictive Keys is in the works, and I also have Guitar Rig, Absynth, and the Session Instruments, and some of the other VST2 applications like Sound Center, Dimension Pro, Session Drummer, and a few others.  All DFX plugins are accessible, and we have also implemented precision tuning of parameters.  ANd it's accessible using Microsoft SAPI5 and any gamepad you own,  or an X Touch Compact controller surface.   So basically, you don't even need a screen reader, technically, to use SOnar X3 or Platinum, since Wi
 ndows 7 and above has SAPI5 installed.  OF course you will have one to help you through dialog boxes, but otherwise see my other thread for that.

One proverb which  I've seen the truth of proved again and again   evil shouts, good whispers. Especially in a small community like this one, and especially when people have a lot of ignorance, stupidity and yes even down right evil to deal with on a dayly basis, it becomes truer than ever. of course, in the case of unfulfilled dev  we're not so much dealing with evil as sloppy planning but the same holds true. Have there been a lot of occasions  unfulfilled dev promises? Yes most certainly, going right back to max shrapnel, final defender and castle quest back in 2006, this is why several devs then stopped offering any sort of assurances  announcements at all until something was good and ready (david greenwood is a primary example).There are however plenty of other examples of games that have come out, or received promised access changes no problem. Adventure to fate (in both respects), a dark room and its sequel,
  zero site extended operations, the bockerano daibuken 3 translation project etc etc.And yet what is it that people remember? I'll say for myself on the occasions I've financially backed projects, if those projects did! go belly up in terms of access (star traders anyone), I got my money returned no trouble. So, yes, you will always get devs who announce something and make good on it, however you equally get devs who produce good things, or indeed add accessibility to existing games after promising they will do so.I did not personally back code7, but this was because I was getting married at the time and trying to save money, however I might well be buying the games in the future, so to this one I say hurrah, and urge anyone who wishes to buy it! Also, where is the topic in new releases if indeed one just needs to hit alt in the game to get speech?

Hopefully this will go through. For whatever reason a few of my replies did not make it on here. I was using the latest build of Safari on my MacBook Air at the time, and I was marked a spammer. But I'm using the latest build of Google Chrome now on the same computer, so we'll see what happens. But anyway, Dark Defender is a great game. I am able to play it in Chrome, and the downloadable Mac version also works well on my end. I tried out CyclePath, only the downloadable version because I can't find where to play online. I wasn't able to set up WebTTS using the downloadable version on my Mac. But it looks like another great game.

I don't think we'd be using text chat. How is it for voice chatting, adding contacts etc?I confess one reason I don't use skype myself is I've always found it, and to a lesser extent computer mikes in general a pain in the arse! It took me about three days of fiddling back in 2009 to get the dam thing to even produce any sound or recognise the mike after which first my mike broke, then the skype interface broke (or rather was updated but it amounted to the same thing). A few weeks ago I did buy a stand mike for windows which guess what, doesn't work at all (windows recorder,  Cortana etc do nothing despite my changing various sound card and setting type things), so I've not even attempted skype on windows again yet, hence wondering if the IPhone is a better option.It's a shame so many people use skype, it just seems like a badly supported and fidly program (even when I've started it by accident I've had to end 
 it with the task manager), and when you combine that with Microsoft's crappy mike support your not exactly in for an easy time.

I spent a month with the Focus 40 Blue and was impressed with its battery life.  That was about it.  The form factor rivaled VarioUltra's, but certain hardware features were more appealing to me.  I'm not a fan of devices with buttons.  I'd prefer a switch, personally.  I was fortunate enough to have sent in a unit given to me to have it fixed under warranty due to a jammed power button.  A friend of mine didn't use it, so I thought I'd make a deal with her to get it.  The keyboard was fine, and the extraneous buttons made navigation and performing other operations, especially in iOS, much easier or at least smoother in my opinion.  Of course, it was fully integrated with Jaws, but I don't use Braille displays on desktop OS's.  I'd rather use a traditional qwerty keyboard with a screenreader.  Not sure why, that's just how I am.  The rocker bars and navkeys were a little too loud fo
 r my taste.  Having it charge via Micro-USB was nice.  You could charge it with an external battery pack (I'm sure you can do that with most devices today).  I heard the Braille cells were junk, but I didn't work with it nearly long enough to notice any deterioration or worn dots.  Overall, it was a good display.  I'd have kept it if it were my only choice, but I had other options, so I went with Baum.Enjoy your new toy.Luke

I just selected a braille display for me, and it was the Focus 40 Blue.Why? It's not that I particularly like it as a display. It is simply that it's robust and is entirely software-controlled. That's it. I'd've taken up one of these note-taking thingies (Baum VarioUltra, HIMS BrailleEdge) if they actually embodied operating systems other than Windows and did what they did well. These "smart" displays need to be at least as simple and as robust and as stable as something like the old Blazie Engineering devices again before I can go there. As I describe in this topic, I'm just not convinced that things are getting better while we're stuck having to choose Windows-powered devices, and I don't think soon-to-be-obsoleted Android versions is much better.Just my thoughts.

I don't see why something with the functionality of a BrailleNote or BrailleEdge can't be Linux-based, though, because you only need to build your own applications. So, text editor, simple email client, calculator, clock and alarms, stopwatch and timer, calendar and address book supporting CalDAV/CardDAV, maybe a chat client--nothing that's intrinsically complex or likely to be obsoleted in a short amount of time without minimal changes. The key is for it to do what it does well, not to do everything or mirror your iPhone. Because that is what your iPhone (or Droid) is for. In the end, the key functionality will always be the text editor and a few other essentials that are usually offline. Anything else, like SSH or telnet, would be a nice bonus, and the subject of an SDK.

I don't see why something with the functionality of a BrailleNote or BrailleEdge can't be Linux-based, though, because you only need to build your own applications. So, text editor, simple email client, maybe a chat client--nothing that's intrinsically complex or likely to be obsoleted in a short amount of time without minimal changes. The key is for it to do what it does well, not to do everything or mirror your iPhone. Because that is what your iPhone (or Droid) is for.

Not to dispute what you've said, because there was an update recently, but I'd hardly call a version 3.2 to 3.3 a major update, now if they'd released version 4.0, then I'd call it a major update.Now that you mention it I do believe the new game is a fantasy role playing game and those things don't happen overnight. Just look at what happened to Entombed, for the longest time there was rumor of a version 2 and there was even an alpha floating around for a while, but the web site has had version 1.20j as the official release for about five years now. Personally I think that development on Entombed died out long ago.Check your PM

I downgraded to 8.1 it is way better then 10! no annoying  notifications  telling me to install something or telling me to rate the OS. it is way faster. And it does not come with as much  bloat.  It even activated  it self.

please tell me this will be usable with reaper and osara. People don't really use sonar anymore, and as far as I know it only works with JAWS with a payed script which means payed JAWS. Reaper has an option to pass all keyboard input to the plugin, but once I do that, I don't know how to get back out of it. Maybe this could be a feature to add so it would disable the keyboard pass if I press a certain keyboard shortcut.

danny, I still am having an issue with the game that apparently can only be fixed on the source code end. I get fatal error! Failed to execute script whatever, if it's compiled with pyinstaller. Apparently there are some flags in pyinstaller's compilation to try and fix that error, you'll have to do that research yourself. All I know is there's nothing I can do.

Your supposed to get 20. Your database has 20 columns, so you should be getting 20 values. I'm curious what the set_name column is for though. If it's not being used for anything, remove it, and remove it in the tuple. Then try reexecuting the statement again.Another way to debug this is to open sqlite3's console and execute the statements one at a time. It's slower, for sure, but it will allow you to see what goes wrong where. So, back-up the current code you have, then change your python code to something like:import sqlite3

The only thing that was released today was some sort of intro, none of the four episode that make up the main body of the game have been released, but you can preorder those.Me? No thanks, I'll wait for it to be released and there is actually a product to deliver. While I'll miss out on any preorder discounts that may be offered, I'll still have my money when for whatever reason the game never gets past the intro or episode 1. Just like Blindside, Chillingham, Time Adventures, and etc.

Hmmm.[[wow]], so these guys are sighted guys who I think wanted this to come out, the blind version takes a bit more work, probably more things to do.And guys there are no shortcuts, no synths, its all audio.On that note from working with sonnar, which is still working, not always notifying me on releases on whats going on, etc, do any of you realise how much actually goes in behind the sceens.Now I can understand your frustrations having been on the user end, hell I was a pirate once in the early 90s when it was cool, I understand user pains as well as players.But if you want broken promises look at bavisoft, look at james north, and look at all the other companies bar one that is that failed because life got in the way.When I was 20 I thought I had a lot of time.I am now 35 years old.And gaming and such rocks.Life doesn't, in fact sometimes life can fill up a lot.One thing the general user thinks is that we guys do
  this for our jobs.And while some do the majority don't, we have lives and jobs and other such things offline.Or we are trying to keep cash coming in and the like for the future.Thats why audiogamehub has subscriptions and that sort of things.Fact is this company is barely starting out.Now look at breakerbox, eventually they come through maybe a bit sloppy with their releases and the like but most of the time the stuff is top notch.Point is, if you want things to be quick, then expect a quickish game.Most of this new stuff is experimental, if it wasn't it would be another game clone or clone of ultrapower or something.Now I do realise some devs and some have shown that their communications skills can be less to be desired and thats a problem but otherwise, most are generally good.Oh and does anyone go on at draconis or gma to see where their next release is and they hardly communicate.If anyone should be going on 
 at anyone its valve and steam so we can use it fully without mucking about I don't have time to play steam games not even time to fiddle.

It's a problem with crowdfunding in general. Remember that you are paying for a product that doesn't exist, and if something happens to it and your money is not refunded, you're fucked. that doesn't mean crowdfunding is bad (the Pebble Smartwatch was funded on Kickstarter, for instance) but it is a risk you are taking. If you mean the universal keyhook manager, that would be free, of course. Now that I mention it, I am attempting that myself. Sure, it would be an extra window in your alt+tab list, but I'd say it worth it, far less annoying than constantly killing your screenreader to play games.

Well, just coded this thing, and looks like it won't do us any good. Looks like the keyhook only applies to the active window, just as I thought. So the answer is no, unfortunately a universal keyhook is not an option, unless we can get it to apply system-wide. The solution would be for Hartgen to add the keyhook into their games.

I think attempting to make a mirror for the Blind Mice Movie Vault is a waste of time anyway. There are at least two other sites that I know of that has pretty much all the content the Vault has and then some.They may not be as well organized or have descriptions and other information about the movies they have, but they are there.Lastly it's my understanding that if they see somebody downloading everything, which is not a normal usage pattern of somebody who's actually listening to what they're downloading, they will consider blocking that user's access to the Vault.The Vault costs the Blind Mice Mall money to operate, besides providing a service to the vision impaired community, by requiring that you receive their daily cheese newsletter, which actually only comes out two or three times a month, if that, it also brings business to the mall, so they're not going to just let someone grab their content with the idea of mirroring it.

I don't mind having to switch to NVDA to play a game that won't play nice with JAWS. For self voiced games or games that can use SAPI, I just configure JAWS to go into suspend mode and all is fine.For those games that need a screen reader to provide their voice, if they won't work with JAWS, then I just switch to NVDA while playing the game.So the only real problems are the Hartgen specific games written in BGT and using the JAWS specific API to provide their voice.From my own discussions with them,Hartgen's view is that since the keyboard hook conflict doesn't affect them, there's nothing to fix. And they'd only entertain having the games rewritten to use the universal text to speech APIs that use SAPI or work with any screen reader would only occur if they decided to release the games module as a stand alone package that doesn't rely on JAWS or Leasey, and frankly with their attitude towards the keyboard hook problem,

Updating the Braille Plus's firmware is technically possible, but one thing these hardware manufacturers must give serious thought to is the mainstream tech world. Hardly any mainstream pda's were running Linux at the time. Guess what they all ran? Windows ce. Windows Ce contained all the portable applications for productivity such as Word, IE, Inbox for email, you name it. The same thing can be said about Android. Linux has a long way to go before it will become a mainstream os, hell it may never fully become! mainstream, at least not in this decade. The reason for this is simple. People this day and age want something that just works. Linux is not one of those operating systems meant for everyone from the smallest child to the eldes
 t grandparent. It takes time to learn. Which is fine for you and me, but you have to look at your audience. Android is a mainstream os. So, Aph decided to scrap the original Braille Plus sourcecode, and port it to Android. Now I will agree, a Linux notetaker would really be what we're after at this point. Manuel is doing this with the mk speech, which is hopefully soon to come.

Well, looks like the keyhook only applies to the active window, just as I thought. So the answer is no, unfortunately a universal keyhook is not an option, unless we can get it to apply system-wide. The solution would be for Hartgen to add the keyhook into their games.

Hi there. Yesterday That i was trying to do some simple stuff with libaudioverse, I found out if I use the += operater, Handling key presses will faile. I used pyglet to handle them and make the window. Sadly, that's the issue with kickstarter in general. It's pretty impressive that they made the game. Kickstarter is starting to become for empty promises, so finding this thread doesn't surprise me. It's been an issue of broken kickstarter promises in one regard or another. I agree with the posts saying that it has only been a day and just wait it out, but I also understand that if you put something like that out, and people pay money for something, you do have to deliver.

I've seen something like this too many times to count. The promises made weren't accessibility oriented, but after a while it becomes clear that the promises were made as a tactic to garner any funding they can with no real intention to keep those promises. The up and down side of this is that a developer can only pull this deception only once because after that people begin to become wise to the lie and won't support them anymore.Case in point is Steam Punk Neverland and Watch Tower Chronicles, how many of you prepaid or reserved your copies before it was released and are still waiting for them after more than a year? At this point do you really expect to get the games you paid for?And how about all those unfinished stories out there? Games where you only got the first chapter with promises of the rest of the story to come later, and then the developer quits the audio game market leaving us with just the first chapter. Examples include, Chillingham, T
 ime Adventures, Blindside, etc.The feeling is that developers think that we are such a small part of the over all market that even if we all raised our voices in protest, nobody would hear us. So they get away with it.I myself avoid the whole question by not funding any kickstarter or go fund me campains or anything along those lines and don't preorder anything. I just wait patiently for the product to become available, then buy it if I decide I want it.

That leaves me out, I won't use game clients like EA's Origin or Valve's Steam, or even the one Guide Dog Games uses, if they are still around.From prior experience, when there are problems with games that use those clients, it's usually the client causing the problem.

Hi all,To answer a few questions:1. The game is not available outside Steam, other than for the PS4.2. The sound design is not groundbreaking, but it is brilliant for the game. You can hear the enemies in stereo, your attacks have unique sounds, etc. The only thing we need is sound clues for objects that we can pick up, plus the menus and the scrolling text to speak. But even without those, the game is playable.3. The game has English narration, which happens as you advance on the stage.Hope this helps.

It's actually really simple. If you launch something, and have pre-order financing through it, then make it accessible to the backers that made it possible. The reason I'm mad is that I paid real money on this understanding, and it did not come to fruition. It's like saying "OK, you can preorder this computer, but it has no CPU when it launches, only for you and a few other people, even though you preordered it on the understanding that it would have a CPU. It'll have one "later"."

Probably isn't universal. True, you could keep AAC running to keep the keyhook going, but that would be sacrificing more cpu power if you plan to play other games. What there needs to be is a bgt script/executable that, when launched, will install the keyhook universally. When the game is done being played, you can simply quit that executable via task manager. Better yet, assign a system-wide keyboard command to install/uninstall the keyhook that you can execute right before and after launching and exiting the program respectively. That could then make the Leasey games play just fine.

I'd love a site specific _javascript_ disabler, something like that could be set up to use the noscript part of the page and might make inaccessible or difficult to access pages a lot more accessible. Unfortunately, something like that would have to be written as a browser add on which means every page you look at is going to have to be processed by at least a small part of the add on which would just slow things down.While a single add on like this might not produce a noticeable slow down, after you add it, an ad blocker, and a few other add ons you want and you start significantly adding to the code that has to process each page you look at and it begins to add up.

It'd be nice if there was a way to disable _javascript_, but only for specific websites. That'd probably solve the crashing problem.

One of IE's more useful features, to be sure. You could configure "zones". Each "zone" would then have parameters specific to it, such as whether or not scripting was in use, and it would apply to some list of domains and its subdomains. It really was very valuable because you could essentially configure a very lightweight web browsing experience in the typical case, only permitting exceptions for the stuff you needed to use. This took effort, but it was always worth it.But there are still useful scripts on the forum pages you wouldn't want to block. For example the banner at the top of the page when an action is complete--that's _javascript_. And the drop-down at the foot of every page to jump you to a room. And so on. You can live without them though.MODERATION:I am moving this to Site Feedback because that's really the proper place for it.

I just use the MVPS hosts file from MVPS.org, and I get no ads, and the nice thing about it is that it works with all browsers because it blocks the ads  at the TCP/IIP protocol driver. No additional software to slow down your browser is needed, assuming the software even supports your choice of browser in the first place. It simply uses a feature that's been built into the protocol driver since Windows 95 and probably earlier.
