I use both, the speech of a screenreader and Braille. When I play games, especially muds, I use speech. It is just easier, and you can react quicker. When it comes to reading books however, I would always read them in Braille. For me, it is easier that way, to grab all the words, instead of having to listen to the voice of my screenreader for hours. Also, especially, when it comes to reading novels, it is much more fun, to read them on my own. A screenreader will never be able to deliver the right atmosphere, the writer had in mind. Most of my friends prefer, having their books read to htem by their screenreaders. That always amazed me, since I just can't imagine, how they can pay atention to the same, monotonous voice all the time.Of course, there are still propper audiobooks. And while the range of titles is already very, very big these days, not everything is available as an audiobook.I think, the biggest problem with Braille, beginning to lose it

Honestly the thing that depresses me most about the blind game community is the utter lack of good content. I think Redspot is a good game in and of itself, but there are a lot of issues that make it a problem. Some of it can be attributed to maturity, some of it can be attributed to the drama that seems to follow Sam around like the plague, some can be attributed to many many other things. I fully agree with the comment that you should vote with what you choose to do with your time though, and until recently I always had this idea that I would only play a bit with friends, then stop. Unfortunately there were always things I wanted to do and even though I disliked a lot of where the game was going in some points, i kept coming back. If you disagree with things that are happening with anything, whether it be Sam's game or quite literally anything else, and if that relies on you and others to play to keep it interesting, your choice to not play is important. Also important thou
 gh is constructive feedback. While I do think a lot of these issues boil down to maturity (Just look at the Redspot changelog for the fuck you cheaters lines), I also think this specific sound and issue stems from sam's problem with said cheaters. I can imagine that when he created this scheme he was going for physical discomfort and intending to punish the cheaters who plague his games. So lets see how long it takes for there to be a change now that he admits it's a bad thing to do, and go from there. Sam has said that he wants to learn and do better, so lets move this from sam's a kid to what can be done better. Maybe that needs to be in another thread, but it's something that can be done. Then, I suggest you judge him on how he handles the constructive feedback and how he grows rather than on his past. You don't have to start playing his games tomorrow, but maybe in 6 months things can change and there will be a difference. It is my hope that his games wi
 ll get better over time, and I plan to give it a shot in a few months to see how that plays out.

I have a quick question about something that hasn't really been mentioned here, at least to my knowledge.When a game ends in Franchise Mode, we have the option to "upgrade" players. OCR doesn't do a great job on this screen, but I did see that on Xbox, pressing y will choose auto upgrade. From there, if I press y, there is another dialog that I think says a auto upgrade. So I press a to auto upgrade, and from using OCR again, it looks like I am put back on the upgrades screen? A bit confusing.All that said, I am now 3-0 with my Raiders franchise. Still in preseason, but it is a start.Jeremy

@OP, that's kinda pandering to stereotypes just a bit eh? I'm from the US. There are friendly people and there are ass holes, I'm more of an ass hole . Some say the further south you go, the friendlyer the people get, but its not like there are no friendly people in the north. People would ignore you if you cried in the street in Britain? Well, maybe, and maybe not, who knows. there's no right and wrong to this, this isn't a test question, its life, and its something you're going to have to figure out for yourself. Sure, those who live in the two countries can help you wigh the decision. Also Sam, you do make mistakes, and the only way you can learn from them is consequences. People will probably stop playing for a bit. I understand that probably makes you feel terrible, but let me put it to you this way. I used to stream games under the name Code Green all the time, and I spent most of my time trying to mimic PG13, thinking that was the only way people would listen. After a while though, people got tired of me and stopped listening. Now, no matter what I try, I can't get anyone to listen to me, and probably never will again. Does it upset me? Sure, but did I learn from it? Yes. Unfortunately, as much as it sucks, people will hate you and hold age against you. But when that happens, just ignore it, because replying to it will just fuel it more. To those of you who don't like his games, as I said previously, don't say things like, "Oh he's a kid, kids are immature." Just stop playing, or say something more constructive.

Yes @shotgunshell, that was clearly one of my more immature decisions. And if that's what people think, then that is perfectly acceptable. But lately I've scene a lot of Sam is an immature kid. I want to respond to the post made by @raygrote.I realize and fully admit my handling of comments on this thread was worse than it needed to be. I love software development and it's something I'm admittedly pretty good at. I also really respect people like Sam, who want to learn, want to get better and have this strive to do so. It doesn't mean I agree with everything he does--as a matter of fact I'd probably say Sam doesn't like me much at the moment, and that's perfectly fine. I have issue with people who just make things up to try to make someone look bad, in this case Sam. Those who don't develop will look at it because it falls in line with their preconceived notions that sam is just stupid for choosing BGT or any other idea; this in essence is how issues get started that are hard to stamp out. Ask me to explain something programming related and I'm game, but ask me to politely refute bad information that keeps building, and I
 39;m clearly not your guy.I am a professional developer with lots of experience in a few different fields and I can tell you that BGT is limited in many ways, but speedhack detection is not one, at least in terms of clamping on upper bounds like we already suggested. I don't know why speedhack detection is enabled in the main menu, and I can't really defend that. Every programmer has multiple ways to write something, and one implementation of speedhack detection is not always going to be as good as another. Just because Sam does something different, wrong, right or great doesn't mean that everyone will do the same, nor does it reflect on the language at hand. There are many issues with BGT, but unfortunately in a discussion of the limits of BGT we didn't touch on most of them.

Aaron: Thank you so much. You have no idea how much that means. At the end of the day, our motivation is you guys. We want to make something that people will enjoy—we want to create the sort of experience that so many gamers have never had, or like me, once had and now have lost. Sure, we want the game to be commercially successful, and would be thrilled if it played a part in changing the conversation surrounding game accessibility, and we really have no idea how far it'll go—but ultimately, we just want to make something special for players. Knowing our hard work is appreciated, and makes it a lot easier to put in the effort.Dragomier: Story and quests are my department, and I'm always happy to chat about the process—such as it is...but I'll be honest, I don't know how much light I can shed. i just kinda write, and see what happens. Sometimes I look at a quest, or even at the game's whole storyline, and think, "Ugh, I should go back and redo the whole thing!" So the GMs dont' really care if you write out ritch, detailed emotes.  As long as you try, it'll be more fun for you and everyone involved.If you're "terrible," at RP (or you think you are), avoid monk/templar/rook/sharr/thief/mummer.The tse gaiyan is a middle ground.  artisan/mercenary/wyrvardn/snowpine/elemancer are good intro guilds for those new to RP/feel like they suck.Just give it a try.  there's really no pressureworst you can do is not have fun.

1. I've never heard complaints about the logo until now. It was not made loud to be obnoxious, I don't even find it particularly loud. I should probably make a new logo anyway, this one is just flat out old. 2. The speedhack sound may be changed, when it was made that way I didn't really envision so many false positives and then when they happened it just always drifted to the back of my mind. 3. I do *not promote admins because they are my friends. In fact, some of the admins became my friend after I promoted them for being good players, willing, etc. Either way I don't see much need to reply to threads where everything is because I'm an immature kid. Yeah, I am still growing. I'm still a teenager. But constructive criticism starts to cross the insulting line once the only reason this happened is because I'm immature. Think what you will, but I will no longer be replying to posts like that. Thank you.

Let me just clear a few things up.1. You can only control one player out of 11 players on the field at a time. Thus, the automated steering is normal and was not a result of the accessibility update. It's always been there.2. Some think the menu rumbles are a result of the accessibility update. They aren't, that's always been there.@Simba, you must've been pretty close to the end zone and/or wide open if a defender didn't sack you if you just let your runningback go. In other words, that was a lucky touchdown.

its loud for no other reason but to be obnoxiously loud, and if you're listening to the game at a comfortable volume and that happens, especially if you didn't even do anything, yeah. I don't agree with cheating in multiplayer games, singleplayer, sure, hack the crap out of it, use cheat engine to scan the memory addresses and give yourself unlimited ammo, regenerating health, whatever you want just go nuts. That being said, this isn't the answer, but what do you expect from an immature kid though.

yeah, I agree, UEB is pretty terrible.Another thing I don't like about braille is braille music. Its so different that its not even wurth learning in my opinion. however, I have a pretty good ear, so I imagine i'd feel different if I tried to learn music much later in life than I did.As for the spelling debate, I agree that, although  braille may improve our spelling some what, we have a lot! Of contractions. Using screen readers may not actively improve our spelling, but I don't believe that it makes it any worse, either.  We could, if we don't know the spelling of a word, use the character by character command to look at the spelling of words, where as with braille, a lot of the time, looking at spelling isn't quite the same because of all the contractions we have. I mean yeah, we should know what letters/words the contractions contract, but still, that's not quite the same in my opinion.

Eh, while all your facts are accurate, I knda feel like laying off braille means you're missing an entire two out of the 3 rs, which just feels irresponsible, IMO.But yeah, I don't like UEB, either. And no, not because it's change. Because of several other reasons which are beyond the scope of this post. The reason most relevant to this discussion, though? Every single braille book made before the 21st century (so most of them) does not use it, locking new readers out. UEB was in the works since 1990, yet there was 0 attempt, so far as I know, to make a smooth transition in education. If you didn't follow organizations and such, you wouldn't even have known until the day you got a letter from the government using it. And invalidating most of the physical books out there just weakens braille overall.

Perhaps I misunderstood, since I am not a programmer, but there are a couple things which I believe are worth addressing.The speedhacks can be detected by seeing how much a player moves in a certain timeframe. Or, the server can monitor a player's movements and detect if one of them is cheating. (posts 8 and 11)However valid or invalid these arguments may be, this is simply not how STW works. I managed to trigger a speedhack detection while sitting in menus so no movement was occurring in-game, with no Internet connection so it couldn't connect to a server to check for a speedhack. With no account created, with no history of log-in. I used Cheat Engine to actually set up the speedhack, so yes it was intentionally done, I did not have a false positive. I also wasn't on the latest version of the game, but I am not that far behind, I downloaded the game at the end of last year. The reason I did this test was to see if a speedhack could be detected only thro
 ugh in-game actions or if it was some clever algorithm that tried to detect speedhacks even when everything was still. I also wanted to hear the sound. AS documented proof, here is a recording of me with no Internet connection setting up a speedhack while in the main menu, and showing you the awful sound it makes. Please, for your own safety, turn that volume way down! For this recording, the game was turned down to 40 percent in the volume mixer with NVDA at full volume. Even though the game was objectively much quieter than NVDA in the volume mixer, I found the alarm unbearable. This is simply uncalled for, especially if, as has been complained about time and time again, these things aren't intentionally triggered. If I get bored enough I'll try the game on a VM and see if I get a false positive.Another thing that I cannot get past is that things like Windows version or sapi

Enes... I have no idea where you're getting your figures, but I don't know of a print reader, ever, who can read 1000 words per minute. I can read 240 words per minute in braille. All of your facts that you just posted are a matter of personal opinion, as are most of mine.  I think, though, you're focusing to much on one point. You may only be able to read 50-60 words a minute, which is fine, but again, a lot of this is personal preference. I could explain myself more but it would just be me saying the same thing over and over.

I know people who can read braille at around 300wpm, and I talked to a teacher who said he use to teach grade 3 to students who could read at least 200wpm. This is still a far cry from 500-1000, though.I kinda feel like, if someone doesn't know the letters that contractions stand for, they were taught wrong. But maybe that's just me.The horrible lack of innovation in Braille tech continues to frustrate me. ... Come to think of it, I got business cards from the Orbit Reader exhibit at NFB2016. Maybe I should ask what's taking so long, instead of complaining so much.

Because we were getting half a tonne of spambots registering but now the spam is cut to nothing. The only current problem with the system is that only myself, Sander or Richard can remove the restriction from new accounts, which has meant some people have had more of a wait than I would have liked.

hi,Yes, braille is dieing, like it or not. Anyone who claims otherwise is seriously out of touch with reality.  Tell me this, why would I read a research paper in braille at around 50-60 words a minute, when I can easily read it a few thousand words a minute with elequence? Additionally, I noticed that many people have resorted  to comparing print to braille, which is an incorrect comparason for several reasons. First, and most importantly, is speed. An average sighted person can easily read  between 500-1000 words per minute. While The fastest braille readers I heard of top out at around 150 words per minute. Second, print allows people to skim and scan text. A sighted person can take one look at a paper, and flip through the pages of a book, and decide if he should read it or not. Finally, print is easier to produce and store, while braille takes up at least 200% more space. Also, writing print does not require the use of a 12 pound device, or a device that 
 will make your hands sore and give you blisters.Finally, one claim often made here in this topic is that braille significantly improves  spelling. I would argue for the opposit. The use of contractions has harmed blind people's spelling more than computers ever could. It wasn't until I started using a computer that I started figuring out the actual, uncontracted spelling of words. Also, the apparent massive ammount of typos on blind people's work is only a sign of how seriously take the work. Anyone who is writing an important document, e.g a statement of purpose, a thesis,  or a job application should check his spelling. The lack of this just shows the person's carelessness with important work. Also, sited people also don't bother to check their spelling much, and complain about the grades they receive from typos on papers. On the other hand, how I choose to write in nonacademic settings is noone's business but my own.Having said 
 all this, does braille have it's uses? Of course. For instance learning a foreign language, studying linguistics,  or some other tasks can greatly benefit from braille. However, I believe that  learning braille isn't as important as it previously was, though it is still a useful skill to have.

Hello, Joseph, I've remembered my question. Do you possibly have sheet music for the tracks? Because I'd love to propose these to my band teacher for one of our two concerts, or he could have orchestra do some. If not, I understand, as it was done digitally, but maybe you had some for the composer to look at when creating things? Also if it's a copyright thing, I understand that too.  I also think it would be cool to do after the graphical release, because we always, if playing game or movie themes, have images on the screen behind us. I could imagine how cool it would be to have A Hero's Call graphics behind us while playing the theme. Which, for the record, I can't stop humming.

Ha no, that'd be pretty amazing if a printed score exists, but to the best of my knowledge, none does. Everything I gave Steven was in the form of midi stems, and even if I was to make sheet music from those original compositions, it wouldn't sound anything like what you hear on the score because of how much orchestration Steven did. I would like to say to the whole Madden team a very special thanks for adding the rumble feature for the blind.Last night I was able to do the punting, field goal and even the point after.I never thought that I would ever be playing a video game after losing my sight nine years ago.I can't wait until they add support for the screen reader for the xBox.When they do this they will be the first main stream company to do this.

Actually, MarinaBreak has been on the db since July, it's just that with moving house etc  not had time to do enough updates to make it worth writing a news item about things. I also want to write up a separate page for the English version of Bokurano Daiboukenn 3 with links to the translation, but I thought it'd be best to get the news out asap. I also have to apologise retrospectively to Freeman69, since I said I'd get the entry for Echo Quadrant done months ago and didn't. As usual the db is very much a work in progress and there is still lads to add, though hopefully now I can be a little more regular about doing stuff.

Gotta agree with posts 39-42. Developing games is fun and all, and I get that you should devote a lot of time to it, but unless you know that you have that time, and will have that time all the time, don't try and put all your time into it. And there is a point between developing games and organizing, administering and securing them. Believe me -- if he had made his games mainstream and had made sounds so loud they caused physical discomfort or ear damage, he'd be sued all the way up his ass, if not further. And I'm not kidding about that. I'd say "go ahead with the suing" aspect if it caused ear damage to myself, I'm telling you -- fixing that is nearly, if not completely, impossible once the damage is done.

I agree, Dragomier. I myself am moving on to screen reader because it's so much easier and simpler. and the Uni I am currently in doesn't have facility and accessibility for the blind, so I am completely learn on my own, trying to keep up with my classmates around me. often I ask to the lecturer about my problem, and luckily they are willing to cooperate with whatever they can. however, braille in Indonesia is not fully integrated yet, in fact, audio book and other stuff too. many soft file of the books aren't available, much less the braille, so I have to buy the hard copy and find sighted people to aid me. that being said, the fact that people just want the easy way without thinking further of the consequences makes me sad. indeed braille can't keep up with those all inconveniences, but I definitely can't forget it, unless if I want to spell all of the millions characters in the novel I read, which I don't want to.

Show errors? Does that mean you still don't have a set of compiling environment? If that's the case, I recommend using MinGW compiler collection. You can just type "gcc filename.c " on the command prompt. We can of course use Visual Studio, but MinGW is much smaller and easier while you are testing basic C programs that don't heavily rely on the latest Win32 API or VC/VC++ specific macros.Also, if you are sure you are writing in C, the code Ethin pasted above doesn't work because it's written for C++. I'm not sure if the testing library itself is actually providing C API's, so it may work with some tweeks though.

Hi.Don't worry, I haven't forgot about you jerry and your awesome guide.I was a bit busy on the carier mode, I did the first three fights and I am now in the final fight, oops, was I a bit to fast xD?What I did for training is the drill of movement and blocking, I have an a on that one xD, heavy bag hands and feet.I also tryed out the clinch take down drill, and I think I got it down, move through the ring, block your oponents punches and try taking him down.BTW, I hope the comentators improove you knowing what's going on, because I am running into real trouble sometimes.I also need really big help when I am on the ground and my oponent is pummeling my face like there is no tomorrow.Keep up the good work man.Greetings Moritz.

Well, we appreciate your patience. I know the AG community has gotten burned plenty of times in the past, and we didn't want to start talking about the game too early for fear of people thinking the same thing was happening again. The last leg of development has definitely taken us longer than we expected, and I'm sure some people have thought, "Oh no, not this again." But I just can't say enough about the commitment of this team...there really have been so many times that we could've just said it's not worth the effort, and having been through the process myself, I can definitely understand why so many devs make big promises and then fall through. But we promised ourselves we wouldn't go public until we were 100% committed to releasing the game, and that commitment still stands.

You are right that the first question asks what your primary screen reader is, but the second question didn't ask what other screen reader you use but instead asked for all the screen readers you use giving the impression that everything you check would be given equal weight, which would have been incorrect in my case.I could go look at it again, but I don't recall a comments section in that survey.Anyway, based on my interpretation of what they were asking, checking only JAWS, rather than both JAWS and NVDA, was the more accurate answer, which is, I believe, what they would have prefered.
