Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy
Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy Unfortunately their is really no guide, but I can give you some tips at least...first, remove gam bling tax and subsidize the arena, then bet as much as you can, every single turn. It really helps to check the unit info for each faction so you know more about the power of their warriors VS others, and just don't bet anything if your not sure, such as with the red and blue fights. Plus, even when your on a winning streak, never bet more than 3 quarters or so of what you have, so that you have a buffer if you screw up. you'll get a feel for it soon enough...Remember always to leave some money at the end of the turn for paying your soldiers, otherwise they are more likely to go to the other side.Go to the throne room every turn, because you can get some free soldiers that way. If your popularity is okay than just take the hit rather than paying the higher priced reparations as well.Next, buy any bandits that get put in prison every turn you can, they will help you get some gold back and eventually you'll be making money rather than losing it.Also, enter into a trade agreement with anyone you can as long as you don't need to pay for it, you can travel east early on to find another area to trade with as well...If your able to ally with anyone, do so and ask for military aid, if they can give it, than just keep track of your popularity with them and don't let it get below 0.As soon as you can, build a knight recruitment building (I forget the name) and turn all those knights into recruiters, then ask the peasant militia to get fully involved. Now you have workers as well as fighters. When your able, talk to all the goblin clans and ally with them, sending 500 gold as a gift. Build a barracks and train the tribles you get into soldiers. Explore in the north to find slaves for cheap, and only disallow slavery when vitally useful allies require you to do so.When you can, buy the brawler pit or dragonblood tavern in the north, they pay for them selves quite quickly, and ask for tribute from anyone who will give it your to you until you have enough soldiers to take the mines over, and enough peasants to spare to work them. That's pretty much all I got for now. Reviving Battle Zone, With Your Help Hello guys...For anyone who's new to the audio gaming community and doesn't know what Battle Zone is, I'll explain a little bit.In 2011, Philip released a game engine known as BGT, and his goal for making it was to allow people to code audio games easier without the hassle of having to hunt down a bunch of libraries to make it happen. Throughout BGT's development, Carlos Macintosh, affectionately known as Keywasfull, began work on his new title, Battle Zone. At first this was just a simple side scroller, but it quickly evolved into a huge game that gained wide spread recognition among hundreds if not thousands of blind people in the audio gaming community. Interesting fact, it was also one of three games that gained a tun of reputation at the Governor Morhead school for the blind in Raleigh, North Carolina. The other two were Descent into Madness and The Last Crusade. Eventually, Carlos dropped support for the game some time in 2017, 7 years after the game was developed. Now, I know what you're thinking. "What the hell does this have to do with you. You're just some random guy who posts a lot of stuff on the forum." So, bare with me just a minute while I explain myself.I'm a high school student in North Carolina, and I am a major geek. I will tinker and screw around with just about anything I can get my hands on, which explains why I've broken a lot of things in the past and got into trouble a few times. Just a month or maybe two ago, I was messaging my friend Jack and I said, "You know, Battle Zone was a great game, but Key isn't supporting it any more, and he recently open sourced it, so lets do something with it." So we went to his website and tried to get the game. Unfortunately, we got a 404 error when trying to download it. I talked to him and it seems that he no longer has the latest version of the source , so he gave us the source for version 13.1 which is close enough. I asked him just to clarify if I could do what I want with it as long as he's credited as the original developer, and he said yes. So, off to work we went. Originally we wanted to complete the version that already exists by adding the third boss to it, and then making it bigger. Jack said he wanted to hold off the third boss for now. So I asked Key if I could append the name pro to the end of it, and he said yes again. He also stated that he was pretty much done with the project. So with that, it was called Battle Zone Pro. Now, here's a little tidbit about me. I am extremely ambitious and have really huge ideas for what I want to do with something. Because of this, I wanted to make Battle Zone a platforming game. Jack quickly talked me out of this, informing me that this game, being a hack-n-slash at its core, was never intended to be that way. Now, my new idea is to make it like bzr, with the same story elements and everything that made the original Battle Zone so great. So, that's our story. Lastly, I'd like to tell you how all of you can play into this. One of our goals for BZP is to use sounds that we have the rights to instead of stolen sounds. So far we're doing a good job with that, but one thing that makes it more difficult are the enemies. Our idea is, if we can get people to make enough enemy sounds for us, then it'll make our job easier. That's where you guys come in. We don't have a planned release date for this revamp, so there are no time constraints. All you guys have to do is submit your voice clips here in this topic, or send them to me via email or pm. Here's the list of sounds that we need for the enemies. We need at least one of each, but you can have more if you want.Death soundFalling down a pit soundLight pain grunt.Heavy pain grunt.Swing grunt sound, i.e., when the enemy swings a Millay weapon.TauntYou can record them however you want. If you want to send a single file with all the clips you can do that, or you can send them in a zip. You also don't have to make it human, if you want to make it a chipmunk on steroids or a behemoth with sunglasses, you can do that. All we ask is that you don't steal sounds from anyone else, and try to use a mic that doesn't have tuns of background noise or buzzing or anything like that.Thank you to anyone who decided to sit through this post. If you have any questions, complaints, insults, diatribes, or anything of the sort, let us know. All kidding aside, we do ask you to try to keep your criticism constructive. Thanks for reading and go crazy, or something.(Posted by Garrett, edited by Jack) URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=357069#p357069 -- Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

The bases seem cool for people who want to go full out, but the game honestly seems to be more of a grind fest than anything else and it kinda kills any real excitement when you've just respawned and someone with like 3000 shields and 20k hp comes and wrecks your day. Re: Questions about game in C#. Game window, 3D and menu
Re: Questions about game in C#. Game window, 3D and menu I agree with you on this. I think DirectX itself gives you much more control and I like how it handles multimedia a lot better than other things, even better than XNA. But MonoGame is the worst of them all, which is why even though I used it for education, I never ported TDV over to it and always preferred to use SlimDX and later on SharpDX. Maybe it's because I never bothered to learn multimedia handling in MonoGame more than I had to (I was more interested in the AI portion of the class, since multimedia to me by then was old news,) so it could very well be that I didn't give MonoGame a chance, but my thoughts are the same in that it over complicates things.kianoosh wrote:yes but i think deeling with sounds takes so much time/It's not hard but it needs a long code for a sound to play URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=357052#p357052 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector

Re: Some Questions about 2D Fighters Your character always faces the opponent. When holding back your character walks backward while blocking. Holding down+back causes your character to crouch and block. Your character will always turn and face the opponent unless they are doing a move. If Ryu does a hurricane kick and the opponent jumps over it, he will not turn around until the move finishes. This also means that you must hold the other direction to continue blocking if the opponent jumps over you while you're blocking. As for charge moves, it's about 2 seconds or a bit less. There's no indication of when you're charged, so it's a matter of practice. As for controls, either D-pad or arcade stick, your choice. The analog stick is not really used in fighting games as it doesn't give enough tactile feedback. Re: Questions about game in C#. Game window, 3D and menu Ethin Of course i can wrap the functions it's right that was just something that i wanted to mention. Or maybe It's not that long you know, I was working with IrrKlan so far and it was using a wrapper like sound pool in bgt so that's why i think most of these things are hard to implement. I even can write the wrapping functions myself i was just mentionning it that it takes a bit. Speaking of fmod, It's a long time that i want to ask someone that how do I use fmod in C#? Fmod studio itself is completely inaccessible and I got a dot net fmod wrapper or something like that from sourcefordge but that thing wasn't built to the library and when i trye to build it it was missing some stuff which i cannot remember at the moment and thus couldn't compile. Some Questions about 2D Fighters
Some Questions about 2D Fighters Hello,I've been playing fighting games for a little while now, and while I'm doing relatively well, I could be doing a lot better. I'm hoping that these basic (or at least what I think as basic) questions can be answered, but these questions may be too visual. Question 1. Am I always facing my opponent? For example, in Super Street Fighter 4, if my opponent was on the right side of the screen, and I am on the left, and if I clicked left, would I turn around, or would I block?2. Blocking. It's been difficult for me to know if I am successfuly blocking attacks in games like Marvel vs. Capcom infinite and super street fighter 4. Am i correct in assuming that holding away from the ofponent blocks? 3. Charge characters. How long do I need to hold back or down when prepping an attack like a Sonic Boom or Kikoken?Last question: I've had issues inputting my inputs, and I'm considering moving to an arcade stick. Is it worth the switch, or should I stick with the D-Pad or analog stick? Thanks for your answers! Re: Is the HomePod really worth it?
Re: Is the HomePod really worth it? @Hadi I agree with you about laziness, though it is a shame. With spottify I was put off by the price, particularly since I doubt very much my university would see it as essential, plus of course as I said I do actually like owning music myself since then I can put it on whatever device I want. For example, I still have both the cds and the ripped copy of the first ever cd I bought, the final fantasy 7 soundtrack, and that was back in 1996, had I paid a yearly subscription service since then to still have access for it, well you can see how much it'd cost . with the more general debate over companies, one thing I will say for the Iphone is that Android still hasn't got there over games, aps, accessibility etc. That was why I bought an Iphonee, despite really! not liking Itunes, and why I bought a new Iphone 8 last christmas. This to me is the interesting part about peripherals and other devices, not how they can do the same thing as an existing device, but what they can do that is different or unique to them, and new to the customer and their life style. For example, up until Ios the only way a blind person could have a satnav was pay for a very expensive custom device, which of course had the magic word "accessibility" on it so cost the earth . not anymore. With Android again I don't have enough experience to comment on the platform, though I will say there hasn't as yet been enough uniquely android things that Android can do which say an Iphone couldn't to make it worth my while investigating, the past issues concerning so many different varients of operating system and the need to configure heavily for accessibility haven't exactly improved the case either. As to the topic at hand, since I have no interest in Apple music or in Itunes the homepod isn't for me at all. Re: I finally found a Dropbox alternative, and it's even more accessible!
Re: I finally found a Dropbox alternative, and it's even more accessible! So a couple updates.I've learned some new things after testing them my self and with someone else as well.Firstly, it turns out that asking for a new link for the same file doesn't invalidate the old one after all. Someone said they got an error to that effect when trying to download my Sonniss 2015 archive, but apparently it worked fine a few minutes later, so not sure what happened their... Because I've never gotten anything like it.Second, it turns out that you can in fact upload files to a link if you don't have a sync account, just like with send space drop box, but only in the payed version, and it's not well advertised for what ever reason. Unfortunately I don't have the cash to test it my self right now though, so if anyone has purchased a plan than I'd love to hear from them.Third, Apparently you can add a label to a link through the manage link dialog? But it's never changed anything for me so maybe it's a visual thing, and I'm not even sure what they mean by label in the first place... At least password protection works fine.fourth, their is this thing called an enhanced privacy link which you can ask for in place of the normal one, and after some research what it seems to do is essentially skip running decryption through sync's own server like normal, and instead does it on your local machine, but it's limited to 25GB files on chrome, 500MB files on other browsers, and isn't supported at all on Safari or most mobile browsers.Apparently it's run through an encrypted tunnel with private keys both ways anyway though? So I feel like this is just for the ultra paranoid people out their, and I'm guessing it would be allot easier to compromise your local machine than the Sync server anyway...fifth, It may be helpful to note that, when changing link settings via the manage link option (at least on FF with NVDA) if you hit the save button it won't actually exit the dialog or give you any update, you should hit the unlabeled button at the top of the page to do that instead. One of the few accessibility annoyances I've found so far, and the lack of any save confirmation is much more annoying to me than the unlabeled button... Re: Questions about Java Post 2 raises a good question. Also, you are wrong about the amount of programming languages for android. C++ is definitely (not) one of them unless your making low-level system drivers or Linux kernel modules. No one would ever write an android app in C++, period. (C++ is also used for creating native java libraries, but that's not the question your asking.) The three (if not more, since this is Java, and you have access to pretty much all the JVM's languages) programming languages are Java, Scala, and Kotlin (Google has started using Kotlin for app development). Questions about Java
Questions about Java Hello.Earlier, I made my choice in the direction of C#, and now I do not regret it. C# is a very good tool for developing games on Windows. But now I'm interested in the development of Android. In Android, there are basically 2 programming languages. C++ and Java.I have no desire to learn C++, for this reason Java. Here are a few questions about Java:What kind of literature can you recommend about Java? How well should I know Java for application development? If I study Java. Will I be able to develop games on Windows using Java? I want to develop cross-platform games, but I do not want to write different code in different programming languages.About accessibility. I've heard that Java has availability issues. I heard that you should not install jdk and Eclips x64, x86 only. I've heard that Java 9 has availability issues. On how much is it true? Thanks in advance! Re: Grand Theft Auto V so, please note, if you want to suggest a mod for us to add to the server, you must make sure it is 5M compatible. The trainer, technically isn't supported by 5M, but it works, and has it's issues. For instance, in Devin's version, he had to disable all his keystrokes, because it kept spawning tons of a certain car. Another issue is AI that you spawn. If you try to spawn an AI driver, the driver will push you out of your car, because 5M doesn't allow the trainer to move you to the passenger seat as it should, in offline, with out you exiting the car, so, since you don't move, the driver pushes you out and drives off. Also, please don't spawn bodyguards or attacking peds as it will screw everyone up, and the server will need to be restarted. So, yes, it does have it's differences and issues, but it works. For some reason, my game crashing after a big explosion bug was magically gone after 5M got updated. Re: Looking for a Manamon complete save data
Re: Looking for a Manamon complete save data I actually have a question/concern of my own, and figured this might be a decent thread to ask it in.So okay. Your save file is data.dat, correct?Because if so, I've run into a snag. Here's my scenario. On my old laptop, I have a manamon save that's beaten the game and has a bunch of stuff collected. On my new laptop, I have a save file that's about twenty-two minutes old.I want to have the completed save file - the one on my old machine - on both copies of the game.So here's what I did:1. I copied data.dat from my old laptop onto a portable USB hard drive2. I moved data.dat on my new laptop out of its folder; I got an "access denied" message, but clicked the button marked "continue with automatic administrator rights", and the file was moved away successfully3. I slapped data.dat from my USB hard drive - I checked which one it was, don't worry - into the empty space in the Manamon folder on my new laptop, figuring now I'd have the better save on both machinesNope. It still somehow recognizes my 22-minute-old save file, and I have no idea how or why.Help? Re: Opinions on The Gate It'd take at least 30 sells to come close to breaking even on the cheaper-developed VGStorm titles, given their prices, assuming I didn't misplace a 0 somewhere. In a bigger market, where 1000 sales could be relied upon, that'd be an excuse to put more resources into development, or reduce the price. In this market? We're hitting the same barrier as everything disability-related, which is, we cannot benefit from economy of scale, like, at all.No, no, no, don't say good quality can be gotten for cheap. A mainstream game that can compete—ok, a low-budget-but-high-quality indie game that can compete at the top of its league—is still going to have a development pricetag in the low millions, barring some downright exceptional luck and dedication—the kind you find in emergency relief volunteers more than game developers, for what I hope are obvious reasons. Even if you are the master of networking and charm and finding the most hard-workingest people for cheap, the time that goes into that is going to cost money on travel, food, and whatever witchcraft you're using to amass such a team. For an audio game, we can cut out a lot of that, because we don't need graphics or super realistic physics engines (for some reason), or a marketing budget. So let's be kind and go for half the minimum big indie budget, then cut that down to a quarter because of all the parts we don't need. That's still 250 times the cost of audio games on this tier. I didn't catch the total cost of AHC, but it's well over an order of magnitude greater. Is it possible to get high quality games for cheap? Sure. It's also possible to fund the next summer blockbuster for less than a college education in the US, but in practice those are usually a thousand times more expensive, at least. So, while I agree that The Gate is overpriced, I can't fault Aaron for going with that price, given the economic reality of audio games.[edit]And you should say, then, "what about Swamp and the Japanese games?" Puting aside that I really have no idea what the financial situation for Japanese developers is like, let's recall that Aprone focused on game design first and foremost, and it wasn't until castaways that people started volunteering commercial class resources to the cause—after people begged for a way to pay for it, I might add. The Aprone method is probably the ideal way to go for this sort of thing, but it's not as easy as it appears (I mean, has anyone else pulled it off?). By all means, more Aprones would be wonderful. Even though the community has always demanded more of the expensive stuff.[/edit] URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=356348#p356348 ___ Audiogames-reflector mailing list Audiogames-reflector@sabahattin-gucukoglu.com https://sabahattin-gucukoglu.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/audiogames-reflector
Re: Update from Out of Sight Games
Re: Update from Out of Sight Games I think it may be a little shortsighted to characterize Ian as "not fully motivated". As Joseph has said, his reasons are his own, and there may very well be personal troubles in his life which simply preclude him being able to devote as much time to AHC as it would merit. Without knowing the details, we are simply in no position to judge, one way or the other.Joseph, I'm sorry to hear about the slowdown of expected goals and whatnot, but I also have a ton of respect both for your transparency and for the fact that you got here in the first place. The good part is that AHC seems relatively stable now, at least, and even if graphics aren't forthcoming in the immediate future, I think most will agree that AHC, as a game, is awfully good despite that as-yet-unrealized objective. Re: TW Blue Won't Open
Re: TW Blue Won't Open Glad to hear. To Ironcross: This does not actually only happen when you edit the file manually and it can happen due to some bugs as well. For example, there used to be a bug where TW blue would not start if Serbian was set as Windows language due to it trying to auto detect the language and load it. In this case the only way to successfully use TW blue was actually to edit the file manually and change the language option to English. I agree that when you edit sensitive files like these you should have a backup first, but yeah just wanted to point out that it can be a bug too. Re: Good quality SAPI5 voice to replace Eloquence for Windows
Re: Good quality SAPI5 voice to replace Eloquence for Windows The problem I tend to find on Windows 10 is that most Sapi applications are 32 bit, and Windows 10 won't accept any changes to the 32 bit sapi voice. Even when i get up the 32 bit sapi voice control pannel and change it manually, one reset and Windows 10 defaults back to Microsoft Hazel. its actually slightly frustrating. Hazel is okay, but there are definitely voices I prefer, still for 32 bit applications it seems I'm stuck with her.
