Hi.As a user, I don't find it as much as an issue.@Nathan: It would be totally amazing if you would write a Python tutorial including how to output to a screenreader and other accessibility stuff.I never got the basics of BGT. I have tried a lot of times. Python is the only programming language which I have had some success on learning.

@32 Honestly I don't think it will come to that, but I need a very strong communication somewhere saying I want no part of a breach of licensing laws. If anyone comes to me in the future with licensing wrongdoing from someone from this course, I need to be able to point to a communication and say "This is where I said not to do this." and that's what that post is.

I mentioned it twice before but I'll mention it again because I don't want anyone thinking I'm procrastinating on this course - I'm showing Lost and Hound at PAX East in Boston in the end of March.Once that is over, it's full steam ahead with this course. I'll go into a bit more depth just so people know what they're in for. It will be featured on YouTube and I will be giving assignments/homework, usually one or two tasks per video. I will provide *ALL* the audio (wavs) you need. It will all be free to download and free to use in personal and commercial products - either my own work or work that has been released freely to the public, license free. If you do not want to post your work on YouTube I will create a companion thread here. I don't want people to feel like they need to deviate outside of this forum regarding exposure of their development. I do, however, strongly recommend taking part in the interactivity of this course. I haven't created a course for sighted people because there are hundreds but also, they're competition and I don't want to give away my secrets. However, as there are no other accessible courses on sound design that I know of, I'm happy giving all of you my secrets because I want you to succeed and when you get rich and famous as a sound designer, I want you mentioning my name. ***Warning***I take audio licenses very seriously. If I get wind of people passing around audio which they do not have permission to publish or upload on the internet, I will stop the course immediately because I do not want my name and the name of my business associated with an audio piracy ring. Audio license types:CC-0 - the best kind. Creative Commons Zero - you can do ANYTHING with this sound. You can even download these sounds off of freesound.org and sell them as assets. This is the ONLY type of sound you can sell as a sound - every other license type must be a part of some type of project or media. CC-BYThe most common license - Creative Commons - Attribution. You MUST give credit to the creator if you use this in any form. You can copy and redistribute this sound in any form. You can adapt it for any purpose, even commercially. CC-BY-NC Creative Commons - Attribution, NonCommercial.No money must change hands whatsoever when this is used. That being said, rarely do people get in trouble for working with unlicensed audio in a personal capacity. I just thought it needed to be said that I will not risk damaging my livelihood if laws are breached in association with this course.If you're looking to make money in the future with this stuff or with Sable, I urge you, as strongly as possible, to make a library of CC0 sounds you find on freesound. Even if it's a sound you don't know if you're ever going to use, if it is a high quality sound, grab it and it is now YOURS forever without limit.

Pigioto's third form is Pigeot. Also, might I recommend giving pokemon crystal access a spin? The best way to learn a subject is to submerge yourself in that subject, and that would give you more insight than what any of us could tell you and lend your character an air of authenticity.

Drop Terruffalo, as it's dead weight with Grandlan on the team. Replace with Dussoket or Erroir or even Titomaton.Ditch Ghoperto. Nice idea, but it gets virtually no ghost moves. Replace with Bombusect, Fiendour or Mortrex if you can trade.I also prefer Deciced over Arctana, or even submenno over Arctana, but your mileage may vary.

Not quite. NVDA addons are considered derivatives of NVDA and therefore must be open sourced, but there are exceptions. For example, an addon that implements support for a speech synthesizer can use a synthesizer under a proprietary license, but an addon for support for an application must be open sourced. @6, you are misinterpreting the GPL. The GPL states that you can charge for your software, so long as you make the source code available in some way. They do not put a cap on that amount (which is discouraging IMO) so you can charge a dollar or ten million. Also, add-ons can be licensed under different software licenses; they do not need to be licensed under the license that NVDA was licensed under.

NVDA seems to have issues with windows explorer these days, sometimes even crashing it. never once had that problem with jaws. also it's not just me that has an issue on windows explorer, a few others I know do as well.

I use NVDA at school and at home and I don't have issues with it. In fact, Word support is getting some major overhauling from what I've heard, and you can turn on UIA support for Office to speed things up if you wish. I've not noticed any issues with Word sluggishness on version 2018.4.1, although I've seen it on earlier versions.Also, the argument that nvda is a security risk is laughable. Is the autoupdate feature broken or is it Wine? I was playing and was suddenly disconnected. When I tried to connect, it said the server was unreachable. When I logged into my VPS and tried to start the SBPServer.exe file from my screen session using Wine, I got a message saying wrong .exe type for SBPServer.exe and it wouldn't load. I had to manually download another copy of the server and load it. Everything seems to be working now, but I wonder if it's Wine or the update process itself?Speaking of the server, you should consider lowering the maximum number of items to 100 or 50. Currently, way too many can accumulate and the game slows down.

The addon is in the game's folder, press enter on japanese game fix, found in the folder ware you see the files data1 through 7, play, sound and evrything else. The instructions I gave you in the previous post explain how to lower the BGM. Press and hold f6 from anyware in the game, as long as it's not the main menu, the first one you find with play, load and close. If that doesn't work, go to settings by pressing Windows and I, then search for adjust system volume. Press alt tab until you find volume control, then tab until you hear your screen reader say volume for play or something. Press left to turn it up, or rite to turn it down. I think this just lowers the music. If you want to only lower the midi files and have Cool Soft Vertual Midi Synth, press control alt m from anyware in the game and press and hold down arrow once the adjust volume program opens. I know this lowers just the music.

I've actually played this one, and it was better than I thought it would be. I honestly didn't put much effort into the writing that's required, and my char still got approved. I found the whole fusion concept wierd and did my best to ignore it, but it's not intrusive and the game has intertaining battle and capture systems if you can get used to all the commands. The towns are described pretty nicely as well when you're traveling from place to place. This one could be amazing if a soundpack were to be created, in my oppinion, but I don't have the time to try and make one.

What it eventually comes down to is support. I’m a student- I need access to the ability to quickly and efficiently format text in very specific ways including color and very specific spacing for cover pages and the like. I can’t be doing this in notepad- you cannot reasonably submit academic papers in notepad, and Jaws is just better at office support than NVDA, there’s no denying it. On top of that, Jaws has technical support during normal business hours, so if something goes wrong during an exam, or I need to prove that Jaws doesn’t support a particular application I’m being asked to work with (I had a teacher who wouldn’t let me just use a different, actually accessible stats package without a lot of back and forth), there’s a number I can provide to be like, here, talk to them, it’s not just me making things up here.And as previous posters mentioned, NVDA’s addons are a security risk. In the age of what sometimes feels like daily data breaches, are you seriously surprised that any company is worried about letting someone accidentally  leak confidential info? The problem isn’t the open sourceness of NVDA, it’s that you could write an addon that on the surface checks the weather, but secretly logs every keystroke and thereby collect a password or other confidential info.Honestly though, for me it’s a bit irrelevant. As long as I am either a student, actively seeking a job or employed, I get Jaws for free, at which point why not just use it? It’s faster and snappier in most cases. I have NVDA installed mainly for games, if I’m being honest though.

Hello guysSo here's my thing about the hole switch switchy thing.Do note that the text below is what I personally think.Well. Yeah, so a bunch of devs have been throwing the same comment around for days, months, I don't know how long now. But here's the thing. I understand that python, or whatever everyone's using as a development tool nowadays is the "stuff", but the thing is, that people who are extremely good at using them just say oh yeah switch. But have you guys ever thought that some of us aren't willing to switch because we may not get  the hole new language. BGT is easy to use, so some of us, including me, are going  to use it, until someone actually helps out. Because I personally think that saying oh yeah let's go tell everybody to switch, while throwing a bunch of links to things that are just wo and wierd is just not cool. It personally discourages me. Like if someone could sit down and maybe go through creating a game in python while recording a tutorial thing like nathan did for his bgt tutorial, fun fact, that  thing helped a load, would be quite helpful. But yeah. Throwing a bunch of links to a bunch of books to do with development, which no offense it does work, but it just looks all strange. So yeah. I feel like if someone helped narrow down python, do tutorials, make example games with it like bgt had, you know? Maybe then some of us could be like oh cool, let's try this ourselves and actually think, about switching, etc etc.And with that, these are my personal thoughts. Feel free to rage or whatever you want at me, just stating clearly and loudly what I think so others can agree, disagree, etc.

You'll need a mixer. Alternatively, you could use WASAPI in Audacity or Gold Wave to record your system audio including Team Talk. To set it up, select WASAPI as your recording source. I think Gold Wave calls this loop back. You'll next want to select your default playback device. When you record, your system audio will be recorded.If you wish to send your microphone through, you'll need to set it to play through your default playback device. Navigate to the recording tab of Sound settings under the Control Panel and select the properties button next to your microphone. In the properties dialog box, select the listen tab and check the "listen to this device" checkbox and make sure it's set to go through your default playback device. This should be the same device you're recording from using WASAPI in Audacity or Gold Wave. You'll have to listen to yourself, but I don't know of a better way of doing it in Windows.

@53, yeah, I get ya. init_pton() can be ported ridiculously easily. I can post the code here if you like -- I managed to port it with almost no changes to it. And yeah, I don't get why the *_s functions are not enabled for most compilers. It doesn't make sense but it is what it is, and C11 is different from C++ and no C++ standard will be compatible with C11 (strange as that is). I so wish you could compile with two or more standards, but that would ridiculously overcomplicate things.

This is more than an opinion and a question if anything. Why is the new releases room filled with topics that are game discussions.   Of course, new releases are fine, with a few post discussing the game. That’s to be expected. Or those that have received a new update.Not enormous beasts of topics like STW. It was a new release when it started, but of course, unless it’s an update, it’s not anymore. I think a topic like that, with 2000 posts discussing the game should be in general game discussion. These are just my thoughts. The same goes for topics like swamp, and crazy party.

Hi. while it makes sense to cell donation gear through congrigate, I personally would be happy to donate to a game like Trimps. I've already spent longer with the game than I have many a commercial title (aside from the time I spend doing other things and just checking back on my trimps in another window), and since I don't mind donating I wouldn't mind helping my progress along either (that business with the four imp orts and 100 bones is pretty tempting. One thing which might be nice might be a togglable log message about enemy condition when your trimps die, since it would save the need to constantly check enemy hp, and also give you an idea your doing progressive damage even if you need to wait to breed a new army. I mean something like "x number of trimps just fell over, snimp is bleeding"with condition messages being a rough indicator of the enemy's percentage of hp (the standard ones in may dicu based muds are scuffed, scratched, bleeding, wounded, near death for %80, %60 %$0 of health etc, though It'd be good to come  with unique ones for Trimps since the combat messages are quite amusing"  That way it would be possible to roughly track how your attack is doing from the log as well especially when your in a very tough zone, and when its best to bail out.I've also seen the wiki mention "first strike" as an ability of enemies, and when I checked the "imps" page it said those enmies were marked with a double arrow. Either I haven't run into anything with first strike yet, or because I have my screen reader not set to read punctuation (which gets irritating), I haven't noticed them, or the double arrow is a graphic. Perhaps these abilities could [ please be added to the enemy stats display in text? Btw, the wiki also mentioned Tirkimps had a special ability to add an increased production timer  a basic resource, I probably am missing this, indeed I didn't realise tirkimps did anything special until I ran across something about it on the wikii, which likely means I've been missing out slightly since I usually tend to be researching.speaking of tough zones, one thing I've not quite worked out yet, is whether the bonus damage you get from completing side maps is added to the  trimp/enemy stats display or not, or if it is just something left for you to work out yourself.When you get around to LOOKING AT the map chamber, it would also be nice to  list your total fragments next to the cost of a new map once you'd set the sliders, for example 482/28, since that would save the need to go right back up to the top of the screen and check your total when sliding the slider only a bit one way or the other. Again, really loving the game, now on zone 35 and hoping to get to zone 43, though prices of prestiege upgrades are getting a bit crazy at this stage so I might end up bailing out early and cashing in my helium for more perks instead (especially since I've just completed the metal challenge).

Even if the founders of NV Access closed their doors tomorrow, the project would continue. If the few folks at Freedom Scientific decided they were done, it's game over. 16, while you brought up the topic of accessibility, am I the only person who feels accessibility is going downhill rather than getting better?  This excludes most microsoft apps though. So many websites,  apps, with each version seem to be braking accessibility. We need some type of regulation, and we need it now.  Another thing,  for NVDA development, I know of a very successful sighted python programmer who loves to code. I  think I could ask him if he would like fixing afew  of the thousands of  issues on gitub.

As reported by [Space.com]:After spending a week hob-knobing with the ISS Crew, the Dragon Capsules set to bit a fond farewell, the hatch is closed and undocking will take place Friday March 8th starting approximately 2:00 am EST, with coverage of detaching to reenter the earths atmosphere starting at 7:30 am EST. These events will be covered by NASA TV which you can watch [here], no word on whether SpaceX will feature their own broadcast.

A few things:@post 4, I fail to understand what you are saying about piracy and free software. @post 12, quickbooks is a widely used accounting program. While I can't say I've ever used it, I have seen it in action at severall local businesses and it seems to be an easy solution for most places to keep records.And while I also can't say I've ever used jaws, I can't get my head around this whole open source = bad thing. It doesn't make sense at all. I mean, NVDA is just a screenreader. And while it is open source, allowing you to install addon solutions written in python, that doesn't mean that by using it, you're computer's security will be brieched. This may not be true, but it seems to me that if you don't install an addon, there just doesn't seem to be much of a way anyone could do anything fishy.

Wow, thank you so much for all of the support everyone! It's absolutely my pleasure to make Trimps more accessible, I'm seriously thrilled that you all are enjoying it so much!Regarding getting in-game stuff for donations, I currently only have a shop set up on Kongregate, since they handle all of the credit card processing and chargebacks and tax forms and all of the grief that comes with that for me. I really wanted to keep the GitHub version free of a microtransaction shop from the beginning, as I personally never liked feeling constantly compelled to buy things from idle games. So while you can buy some Bones on Kongregate, the game is not balanced around needing to spend money!@dragonlee I hadn't even considered that automatically moving focus around was an option, that's an awesome idea! I can think of lots of places where that would be helpful for setting the cursor at the right spot when opening menus and such. I'm still pretty deep into work on the 4.11.0 content patch, but I'll try to get a few new accessibility features up within the next few days. Once I've finished 4.11.0, I'll have the Screen Reader version on a more permanent link and will be able to more regularly add new things!Keep the feedback and ideas coming if you have any! And thank you all for helping test this stuff out!

Question about VLC and folders

Hi,So I've been using VLC Media Player for a long time now, but the one thing I miss about Winamp that I haven't found a solution for is the fact that, when you're playing a folder full of files, if you're at the last track in the folder, it will wrap around and play the first track again. Is there a way to disable that? I've looked through the settings, and nothing has jumped out at me, but the advanced settings can be hard to navigate with screen readers. So is there a way to do this?

@Cody_91  you cannot escape the lure of the trimptress . The game is a tonne of fun and one of the most addictive I've played for quite some time. What I particularly like is the way ascentions work. i remember when playing space company and being damn  that I got literally no ascension benefits at all, since even to unlock dark matter, the ascention currency you had to complete the game once, which gave you no advantage second time round thus meaning you'd spend as much time on the lower  upgrades as before, however Trimps is intended that you get further each go around, in addition it has challenge mechanics which change the game even in the first few zones you've previously seen.I also like the way that purchasing upgrades work, and the way the game combines continuous battle with needing to constantly manage diferent resources and workers, though I've still not exactly got what the best strategy for equipment vs  upgrade purchase is (I think that's one thing which mousoever fixes will help I think, since when its quicker and easier to compare two sets of stats vs prices it'll be easier to know where is the optimum place to spend resources). Right now I'm trying to get through another special map, which is proving quite tough, but again I think it'll be easier second time around, and at least after finishing I should be in a good position to get back to the world and press on.

No apps, that I know of, anyway. However, there's always quizlet. It's a website where you can do pretty much what you're wanting to do, except it also contains every quiz ever created by anyone who made a test with it. Which also means that there's probably a test that has content super close to what you're trying to study.
