Re: Somethinelse games, again and again

As far as I know, there is still no official rule change unfortunately, but after that long discussion in site and forum feedback, the consensus (which included input from multiple mods) ended up being essentially this.We won't worry about copyrighted content until such time as we get a takedown request, and even then unless it becomes a big issue we'll just remove the links or the topic.  No one has the time or law knowledge to go through every link, check every file, and keep checking BT Sync folders for changes just to spot potential issues, particularly when we've never actually had problems yet.The exception to that seems to be (unabandoned) audio game pirating/obvious audio game code and asset steeling.

Re: 0 vs. 1 with bgt arrays

So @1, are you confused by the 0 based indexing in arrays? I have never in all my time using BGT seen the length method of an array fail to do what it is supposed to do. I'm almost certain it can not be confused with 0 and 1 items. If array.length returns 0, there are 0 items. If array.length returns 1, there is 1 item. If it returns 0 and you try accessing array[0], it will crash because that element doesn't exist. If it returns 1 and you try accessing array[1], it will also crash because it thinks you are trying to access the second element in the array. Arrays are indexed starting at 0, so if array.length returns 1, the proper way to access that element is by accessing array[0]. Hopefully this helps.

There are other uses for graphics programming other than for visual displays, it being just one of a number of ways of conveying spacial information. For example, AudiMesh3D displays 3D models as sound, to do this it loads a 3D model and draws it visually to the frame buffer, then it extracts the depth buffer image and reprocesses it into sound, or braille output if preferred. All graphics on a computer consist of geometry and math, arrays of data and information, just like a 2D grid for maps, the only difference is in how that information is conveyed to the user, or how its used for your particular application.@11Which examples do you mean exactly? If you mean the pygame audio example, you can check that out here:import pygame

Re: python, I'm being dumb... again!

@Ethin os.walk is indeed recursive. @1, basically when you loop through output from os.walk, you are getting a list with 3 items in it. This is usually represented by something like for root, dirs, files in os.walk(directory). However you can also execute for i in os.walk(directory) to get the above mensioned list. The first item, or root, is the root of the directory currently being walked. The second element or dirs, is a list of directories in the folder being walked, and the 3rd element, or files, is a list of files in the current directory being walked. So for example if you walk through documents and you have a folder called music within your documents folder, as well as a file called school_report.txt, and in the music folder you have a file called track1.mp3, the first iteration of the loop will give you the list ["documents", ["music"], ["school_report.txt"]]. Then music being the only directory, the next iteration will give you the list ["documents\\music", [], ["track1.mp3"]]. So yes os.wwalk will automatically scan subfolders, just to clear up that confusion. If you wish to scan a directory non recursively, you can use the os.listdir function, which simply returns a list of the files and the directories of the folder you give it. To see whether something is a directory or a file, you will have to call os.path.isdir and os.path.isfile on each item indivisually. Usually os.walk is the way to go!

Re: trying to decide if mechanical keyboards are right for me

Thanks guys for the responses!Yeah, I am probably making a bigger deal of the noise than most people would. I have nothing against hearing it in recordings from other people, especially if you can hear other stuff in their background too. But I've put a decent amount of effort and money into a good mic and cleaning up my own recordings, and I don't like hearing the keyboard in everything. I've got everything sounding pretty much how I like except for that.Can anyone relate to feeling like the keys travel too much for typing? When I listen to quieter switches on Youtube, I can hear how much the keys move and it just doesn't sound like something I'd like typing on. That's another reason I went for clicky switches; the clicks gave me the illusion of low travel amount. Back then I didn't have a solid idea that I liked low travel much for typing, but I think subconsciously I knew it. I feel like I'm kinda odd though.

Re: Three instances of NVDA at the same time causing problems!

I don't think that's multiple at once, Basically if NVDA crashes, it doesn't take it's system tray icons with it, so you get a bunch of dead icons in the system tray. You can click on them and they will die. I have never seen 2 copies of NVDA running at the same time, I don't even know how it would be possible. That would just cause so many issues, for example keyboard hooking, both trying to write to the same logfiles and config files at the same time, etc.

Re: orbit reader 20 now on sale

and just in time for Easter, orbit had come up with yet another upgrade to their firmware. I normally do not announce them here as its a bit irrelevant and the information can be publicly browsed, but this time it was a big surprise. I normally was just fine reading the way I was doing it, and then I upgraded just today that I had time (life does really get in the way of reading, sadly) and was delighted to find out that they now have done autoScrolling in stand-alone reading mode! (the screen reader handles this automatically when the display is connected to whatever device)yeah, for the fancy expensive displays/notetakers this is probably a no brainer, and probably laughable at best, but I took it for a spin and it went really well. The only minor downside (that I could change myself but I am lazy lol) is the really poor translation they used in the displayed Spanish messages for naming the feature.But, OK. Here is the quick review on it.When you are reading a document and press space bar to start or stop auto scrolling, you have a default time of 10 seconds per line which I found to be way too slow, but its sensible if the readers are beginners. Pressing space to start will advance the display right away, as well. I had to shorten it to about 4 dot something seconds and it still gave me time to really double check what I had read (I say this because grade 2 in Spanish is still a bit difficult for me as we normally used grade one during pretty much all of our lives but I am enjoying it a lot)so I think in terms of speed I can do pretty decently. I would really congratulate a person who could read with auto scrolling using the max speed which is every second, that would be amazing!Setting the speed is a bit counter intuitive, at least for me, because if you think in number terms, pressing space bar plus up arrow should increase the number, not decrease it, but then.. well, it would increase the speed, so there is that. I really liked that you can actually use every command that is listed in the manual for the reading mode without interrupting the braille pacer feature as they call it. Which means that if you were reading something and were not quite finished yet but the display scrolled, you can scroll it back, and then either wait for the next 4 seconds to go by to scroll again, or scroll it forward again, and the timer gets reset each time you issue a command, so its pretty flexible.As for checking the current speed besides the number you get when changing it,  you can do so from the menu too, but you cannot modify it from there, and it is better if you change it with auto scroll disabled because if you change the speed when auto scroll is on, you will not get any numbers telling you the new value. Lastly, the value is saved every time it is modified, and it should be that way until you change it again or restore the display to the defaults.So, I now will enjoy reading even more!

Which courses are available for download from CAVI?

2019-05-12 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Green Gables Fan via Audiogames-reflector

Which courses are available for download from CAVI?

Well, this was definitely sad news to hear that CAVI had to shut down because they ran out of funds.I didn't hear of this until after I had told one of my blind friends about it, and they had received an E-mail in response to their enquiry about courses offered.So, obesides the audio essentials, GoldWave and Reaper courses, are there any other courses available for people to download? If so, where can they be found?Thanks!

Re: an accessible game called Dragon Ball Z, Budokai Tenkaichi 3! BT sync

No no, sorry. I get what you were looking for, the conversation just got sidetracked... I know the music in the US version was replaced. What I meant to say more succinctly is that I don't know if only the US version has dual audio, though that probably is the case. If the Japanese version also by some coincidence of an exception also has english voices, all you would need is a copy of the Japanese version of the game. Sorry I made things too convoluted.

Re: an accessible game called Dragon Ball Z, Budokai Tenkaichi 3! BT sync

Assault, the thing is, the music in the US version was replaced. The japanese version used actual music from the show, we got generic rock music instead. That's why I want a mod. You either get english voices with the replaced music, the japanese voices are there. But I want english voices with the actual good music, the way it was intended to be experienced. The game is meant to be a simulation of the show itself, which is why they use music from the show in the japanese version.

Gotta agree with 25 here. The TI84+ is most likely the most well-known graphing calculator in the country. They're bullshitting you, definitely. I'd call your testing board and file a complaint, and if that doesn't work, I'd push it all the way up to the state and file a complaint with your state government siting an ADA violation (because that is exactly what this is).

Probably a better idea. If you don't want to spend more than $80, I'd go with a regular hdd. I would be mindful of cheap ssd's (minus the ones that go on discount from trusted brands) as so-called budget ones are probably knockoffs that could become corrupted or have slow read/write speeds.

Re: are there any exercises that is based off the python documentation?

There's historically been little attention paid to accessibility, and by extention no documentation or guides of any kind for graphics programming for the blind, because reasons, I guess. Generally speaking though, all graphics on a computer consist of geometry and math, you could draw an entire scene in code and never see a single pixel. On the surface it may be hard to see a reason for it, but those same scenes can be used for spacial geometry, collision, environmental and object design, etc. A 3D game needs 3D geometry for proper collision, visually seeing it is more a matter of presentation, but its function and purpose in the larger program remains the same. A good example for this would be tools like OpenSCAD which uses scripting to create 3D models, and using AudiMesh3D for visualizing the models with sound. Same underlying data, different ways of viewing it.@11Which examples do you mean exactly? If you mean the pygame audio example, you can check that out here:import pygame
from pygame import mixer
import sys

def Example():
#initialize pygame
pygame.init()
#initialize sound mixer
mixer.init()
#create display
window = pygame.display.set_mode([640,480])
#load sound
sound = mixer.Sound('tone5.wav')

#main update loop
while True:
for event in pygame.event.get():
if event.type == pygame.KEYDOWN:
#if space is pressed, play sound
if event.key == pygame.K_SPACE:
sound.play()
#if escape is pressed, quit
if event.key == pygame.K_ESCAPE:
pygame.quit()
sys.exit(0)

#update window

Example()I've also mentioned my OpenAL examples elsewhere which you can get [here] for advanced audio, I can also provide an example with pygame using OpenAL.

The TI84+ was said to be approved at launch, and considering the original ti84+ has been around for who knows how long, the fact that they would disapprove it for you means that they were definitely bullshitting you. Hypothetically, Even if it did vary from state-to-state, what the hell kind of technophobic state would refuse an Orion TI84+? Lol!

You can have several instances showing in the system tray, portable vers is my guess.The only way that i know of to launch two NVDA processes at the same time is portable vers, and that may even exit the current copy.

I see. The lack of a numpad is something I'm personally not willing to compromise on. That's not a problem for me, there are plenty of other models I could look into, but my friend told me that he would only consider a mechanical if it was wireless or bluetooth, and, as I said, he doesn't want a model without a numpad either. Ah well. I'm sure the choices for such models will expand over time.

Re: Version 6.5! Rhythm Rage Level Creator Official Thread

A new version.Version 6.5.The main reason for this update.Fail=, early=, late=, had the space after the = and before your sound name, so the sound name and the next attribute were together.That definitely gave Rhythm Rage some errors! So it is fixed now.The other notable change is the music and volume files having an exclamation mark in front now instead of a semicolon. So make sure you replace the semicolon in all of your levels.The manual has been updated of course, and this time it is named Manual.html. I forgot to rename manual (v6).html, so just delete that one.https://www.dropbox.com/s/cqeop5di7pztf … 5.zip?dl=1

Yeah, the k63 has no numpad unfortunately. You could get a usb numpad, but that sort of defeats the purpose. Unless you bought a k70 lux, it has usb ports and you plug a numpad in, that's a low-powered device so it could power the thing just fine.

The most random concept idea I have ever had

2019-05-12 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : an idiot via Audiogames-reflector

The most random concept idea I have ever had

First they took control of our old computers, the ones that just sat there unused until the fateful day that an individual decided to turn them on. Next they spread to our new computers, quickly bypassing are anti-virus protection systems, and entangling themselves within them making themselves immune. Then, they migrated to mobile devices, taking over cellular connections, Bluetooth,  wi-Fi connections, and any other way that devices are  interconnected.  The thing is, 20 years in the future, phones are a lot more advanced.  They can send  electrical signals, Pulses, and much more. The thing is, they won’t stop at controlling electronics. Soon, they will use electronics to take control of us.  And since they have access to the World Wide Web, they know everything there is to know about us. This came out of nowhere. It took me a grand total about 10 seconds to finish the idea. These things whatever they are invade devices, and those devices can generate signals that can affect our brains, turning us into slaves. I want to do something with this idea but I don't know what

After you break the planet at z59, your breed speed all goes down to a tenth of what it was previously. Nurseries still give you an extra %1 on your breed speed, but obviously with the hole speed decreasing that effect is smaller, though to be honest without that the game would be a little too easy.Geneticists actually have the opposite effect to nurseries, they decrease breed speed by a factor of %2 each, but add an extra %1 to your trimps' health. According to the wiki there is a perk which has something to do with your trimps breed time and for which its necessary to have a certain balance of geneticists and nurseries, but since I've not got that yet myself, the best way I've found around it is to pick a round number of nurseries, say 500 or 600 then balance out each geneticist purchase with two nurseries on top of that.

I don't know how that's work either. That's part not accessible.

Re: trying to decide if mechanical keyboards are right for me

The only time its been a problem is in conference environments so I'd keep a cheap unit about for those.However, one thing that got me switching to a mechanical was gaming.Gaming on a membrane never felt right for me, I didn't have the liquid feel of the board expecially when mashing it.It sounds like an arcade and while you don't need to bash the keys it takes a bit of effort to get to press the keys in the way you should to get the best performance out of them.I used to game on laptop boards.I went through 3 laptop keyboards so tried going on normal board, and I just didn't get the feel.One thing I have noticed without using my laptop board, the unit doesn't get as hot, in fact my older system used to crash in the summer.Now I use a board that I don't need to use the internal then it works.Another thing is while at home I can use it anywhere in the house.People that see my setup with the cooling desk fan and the board says it looks all kinds of cool with its fancy lighting and the like.

Re: New computer

To be honest, I wouldn't go for this.Lenovo do offer customisation of units, so if you go for those, a thinkpad t485 or t480 or 585-580 is fine.For me, the hp system I have the db0149au is good.Amd rysen 5 2500 quad 4 physical 8 logical cores, 16gb 2600mhz ram, a 256gb toshiba ssd and a 1tb seagate drive and it cost me 1100 andis usually round 1370 bucks.Vega graphics and all that.There are a few issues, but you may never or seldom hit them.Under high load say if you transfer 60 +gb over drives either for backups and or something it will flake.I have issues when doing transfers when I first got it and when I was updating collections of synced material.However I don't do this all the time so it just does it.It may not be able to run 2 usb drives hdds at the same time without performance going down and windows flaking out but again, you can get round it.It will also freez at times when processing large data sets.These freezes are 1 second ones and don't really matter as such it fixes itself.Its a good unit and I can use standard amd drivers.The only thing is that I had to download the entire driver package from free-codecs but its really good.I had to also change the overlay keys in the drivers to something which isn't alt r but thats it.The speakers are good and sound is fine.Enhancements suck and there are still a few filters on afterward, however I wouldn't recommend stopping drivers or anything to kill those else sound will be weird.Also running on default driver for ms just blows the speakers, the power of the card is well its powerfull.The only thing you won't have is a graphics card, and for this I would go for the pavilian 2000cx series.One thing right now you will encounter is usb c ports all over the place.This one has 3.1 but not usb c just a ports.A lot of devices are going c but not enough c devices exist for me to bother with c right now, and becides you will need a hub to get ports back.I have a hub for a devices but still.What I am waiting for is the newer usb ssds which are small and cost a lot right now but once those go down a bit that may be enough for usb c.The unit is quiet and I would highly recommend it.

Re: Rhythm Rage Level Creator Official Thread, (version 6.5!)

A new version.Version 6.5.The main reason for this update.Fail=, early=, late=, had the space after the = and before your sound name, so the sound name and the next attribute were together.That definitely gave Rhythm Rage some errors! So it is fixed now.The manual has been updated of course, and this time it is named Manual.html. I forgot to rename manual (v6).html, so just delete that one.https://www.dropbox.com/s/t354k715jb1j7 … 5.zip?dl=1

Re: Good mechanical keyboards?

Well I have an asus strix pro tactic blue cherry switch.Its a heavy beast, but I have used it for the last 4 or so years now and apart from a few non working issues with keys from time to time a firmware refresh always fixes it.Keep meaning to clean the board since I havn't done that ever but I have never got round to it.It is quite noisy, for a board, especially in business calls but since I am at home by myself its nice.The thing is good and I like it a lot.Its nice, and I find my typing speed generally is quite fast.One thing to note though, apart from the inaccessible software for it that is which is not a problem is the media controls.Now I don't need to be concerned with muting audio, I can hit that button and it mutes.If I want to change the volume, I just role the roler and it does.One thing to note though is that it does bring out some sound, when plugged into a usb hub.Plugging it directly can help but if you like me want to hub it, you may want either an mbeat or similar charging station or m beat 7 port usb2-3 hybrid combo gaming hub.The modle of unit I have cost me 60 bucks, but the newer modle I got a friend last year was 40.It doesn't have the power port switches which means I can adjust what ports are active but its still ok.For a good feel or backup, the logitech kb120d while is as old as god still sells and is fine enough.If you really need something quiet, I would recommend as a backup the microsoft wired 600 board with multimedia controls.I havn't used the controls but its a nice board.I havn't noticed much issues with my board though a few people say its noisy and I guess it can be a bit loud at times.Of course being a self employed contracter, the fact my board sounds like a typewriter actually is nice.The engine is fast and well its good.However firmware in this model hasn't been updated since 2017 so its probably no longer about.It cost me 250 and I was conciddering corsair vengence.For a backup, genius have good boards to.
