BlindJay - yeah, that's pretty much it! And yes, all the main menu options are read out in the MK config, and there are announcements when you or your opponents health is low, when the round timer is half way or close to running out etc.To play DotT or Beneath a Steel Sky you can move the mouse around and as the mouse cursor is on top of an object, like a door or a person or whatever, it will be announced. For DotT you can use a controller to move the mouse cursor and it will 'snap' to objects as you push different directions, however there are some scenes where you have to move your character to the sides of the screen and unfortunately this involves clicking on a blank space. With the help of a walkthrough you could likely find out which rooms / areas need this though because the walkthrough will likely say things like "Move to the right and go up the stairs", so moving to the right will not be announced ('blank space') but when the screen scrolls across to your new location the 'stairs' object will be visible and will be announced on hover because it's something that you can interact with.zkline - I've never played the X3 series, but if the menu text becomes highlighted when it is hovered over then the chances are good that the game contains a memory address with the text of the currently highlighted option which can be found and announced when the text at this address changes.Alternatively, if the text can't be found in memory on highlight sometimes there's a numerical value that can be found that uniquely identifies that menu option, and this can be matched and announced. For example, if there was a menu option that was "Deploy landing gear" (just an example, I don't know the game!) and this menu option always corresponded to some value in memory being 123, then that would be a suitable candidate to be able to announce "Deploy landing gear" when that option was highlighted.

I'm working on building out the XNA engine that implements blind accessibility through automation. It's almost done, just need to add a class for accessible menus, and a few minor bugs, but I came across a problem while testing NVDA.It works fine for the most part, but one of my functions requires it to be able to read while you're pressing down on a key. I think this conflicts with some functionality in NVDA. I'm using the arrow keys (but it should be able to work with any key that can be bound technically). Basically, as you approach a labeled object it should read off the name. But it doesn't. The string is successfully being reached to NVDA (it appears in the text display) but it doesn't read off, I guess it gets stopped shortly after. Threading doesn't work either.If I tap the button it will read it which makes me think this is the case.Is there documentation on how to build a script or something that helps NVDA deal with this problem properly? Thanks. Its mostly just annoying. If I could feed the script which keys to ignore based on a file that contains the keybindings that could do well enough.Thanks

Hy to all. I was on vacation for a week. I'll preface my suggestion here by saying that I have no idea how the AG's forum system works, so this may not even be a doable option, but I'll throw it in here for discussion and maybe for the mods/admins to consider. With the negativity that's clearly become an everyday occurrence not only here, but all over the internet, I think it's a good idea for us users to do what we can to help out the mods,, which is why I make this suggestion. From some of my browsing last night and today, I've come to the conclusion that a number of people often pick fights with each other in thread after thread, requiring the mods to constantly have to step in and calm things down or even issue warnings and bans for personal attacks. Is it possible for a script to be added to the forum for all users to use where a user, if they find themselves in frequent conflict battle with somebody else, can choose to set that person from being able to see their posts and vice versa? On the LotGD system I'm familiar with, and some of you may know what I'm thinking about, similar to the two-way chat ignore feature. Obviously, the less responsible users probably won't use it and will continue to run the mod staff ragged, but at least this way we users can at least take some of the pressure off the staff and deal with conflicts ourselves in a final and constructive way. Obviously, if this sort of system would be possible to code or otherwise plug into the forum system, admins and mods would have to be exempt from having such blocks placed upon them, as it would interfere with their modding duties, and we know the less responsible would abuse it in that way just to continue on their flame wars.  Thoughts?

Wow this looks neat!  I have Ultra SF4 and MK9 on steam, looks easy to run, just select it from config list, press run config button and start game?  In looking at the XML for MK, it appears some menu options are read out?  Also quite a stupid question, with beneath a steel sky and day of the tentacle, how does one control the games if they are mouse controlled?  Move the mouse around until something is spoken?Thanks, very excited to try this!

This should be clearer with a slightly modified example.x = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,3,3,4,5,4,3]y = [item for item in x if item!=3]The list comprehension is only interacting with the original because you told it to (by referencing x directly). All this is doing is repeating the item variable through x. If item is not equal to 3, it adds the number from x to the new list. If item is 3, it just does nothing because the condition if item != 3 is false. The two lists (x and y) are two completely different objects in the same way as two ints are different, even though they may hold the same number as a value. To remove all the 3's from x directly, you'd have to call some method on x, such as x.remove(3) multiple times or do it some other way.The reason the list changed originally in your example was because you set x equal to the new list.

Well, if you want a quick trick/tip I've used countless times, then here you are. Lots of times, when listening to trap or hip hop music, you'll probably hear hats and other percs at various different pitches within the song. For forever, I couldn't figure out how in the world to replicate this, but finally I did. I'm a logic user, and what I'd do is go ahead and activate note repeater and lay down a couple patterns. But here's the thing. I used a sampler instrument which I had loaded one hat sound into at the c3 note, and then I created my pattern on just that. After that had been recorded, I'd jump into the piano roll, (which, for all those who don't know, is a list of every single midi note/event within the selected region) and I'd simply change some of the notes to be different, thus they deviated in pitch from the main sample. I automated some panning, added some percussion, and finally after some trial and error, I got it down.  This should work in any daw, really.

Well, I can and have attempted to cook on some occasions, but usually I require sighted help because I keep running into some issues. For instance, just tonight I was trying to fix some good ohl mac and cheese, and the recipe called for 8 ounces of cheese. I got out the block of velveeta, but had no idea where to cut it at because the markings were just printed on the side of the package. For now, most of the meals I can prepare revolve around frozen, pre-processed foods, such as chicken nuggets and tater tots, which I usually throw in the air fryer for a while. But after I start living on my own here pretty soon, I'm predicting that I'll get tired of eating that sort of thing pretty quickly, so I am actually trying to learn how to fix things like eggs over easy or pancakes, and also meats, like prime rib or pork chops.

you use [a for item instead of [item for item. Think of it like a for loop, the variable being referred to has to be the one looping through the list. Also keep in mind that you aren't removing anything from the list when using a list comprehension. In this case you're building a copy of the old list that does not contain 3.

Suppose we have the following code.x=[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,3,3,4,5,4,3]
x=[item for item in x if item!=3]Simple enough, right? We are removing an element from the list if it is equal to 3. However, this code will produce a traceback:x=[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,3,3,4,5,4,3]
x=[a for item in x if item!=3]Running this will yield the following bit:Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in 
  File "", line 1, in 
NameError: name 'a' is not definedThe same will happen if I run the code that looks like this:x=[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,3,3,4,5,4,3]
x=[a for item in x if a!=3]The code will only work if I keep the same naming throughout the line, that is, [item for item in x if item!=3].So, why? What happened however, is that negative Karma was more common than positive Karma. Within a few days,  most people were at minus levels of karma, one person even at minus 200 or so, whilst the person with the actual highest karma was on about five! I don't know why, but the karma system seemed to bring out the worst in people, so  after a comparatively short time the  hole thing was disabled entirely. When I became Admin in 2012, I really liked the idea of the Karma system for a positive thing, just as a way for people to say "hay! I liked that post", or "wow that was some helpful advice!" The Core exiles forum has a very similar system, only there its called "give a gift", and its as I said, a nice way for people to show and receive appreciation.So, when I saw it was possible in the admin settings  to allow the Karma system but specifically turn off the "thumbs down" button, that was what I did.I personally would not be in favour of bringing the thumbs down back, since  if it brought out the worst in people in 2010, goodness knows what would happen now given that the atmosphere on the forum, and indeed the internet generally is over all far more negative, I wonder if anyone would have any positive karma left at all. Plus of course, it would make it far harder for thumbs ups to actually mean anything either, since if some troll is going through thumbing down every post of someone she/he doesn't like, how will that person actually gather they've received a thumbs up, or how will that thumbs up mean anything when set against several hundred thumbs downs.

The program that allows you to add sound fonts is the configuration program. After adding the sound fonts, you need to close the configuration program and restart your computer. See if that fixes anything, unless you've already done it. The installer says that it's required for the computer to be restarted.

I don't know about Hatchy, but there are some browser based animal care games kicking around such as Animal acres and eliyo (check in new releases), Furry paws and possibly puppet nightmares (depending upon your definition). Grail lords lets you farm and take care of various animals as part of the game's other activities, and I believe some muds such as Clok also have an animal care aspect though don't quote me on that.There were also some browser games mentioned over on whitestick.co.uk such as show dog, show horse and show cat, but what those are like for access I'm not sure. Sadly Psy pets has since become inaccessible, and I'm not sure about others. hth.

what is that game called!

It was an audio game that I had on my system. You had control of an airplane and it moved around the screen, it made awesome psst psst sounds every time you pressed the arrow keys to move the airplane. It also had an aircraft which autotargeted others with bullets that would follow the target. I think it was japanese? It was being translated in to english.

In agreement with SLJ. The workarounds for emus and software isn't a concern -- game and other copyrighted materials are. As I mentioned previously, you can search for whatever you like on Google with hardly any issues, but you do risk the legalities of these things when you download, distribute, and use these materials (ISO's, bios, etc). It is ultimately your decision, though.

Moritz,Energy cells, and all other cargo,  are bought one at a time by default. Container class has to do with the kinds of ships that can carry them, some smaller ships can't carry larger cargo, like oar. Your mercury is rated for cargo up to XL, extra large class, so can cary those reliably.On another note, I just discovered a project called Sonifight, which looks as though it might be very helpful for us. I might be able to make X3 voice its own menus, or at least have this program help us do so. THis is still a ways away, as I"m still getting familiar with how it works, but it's quite promising.

If you added the SF2 file using the configuration program and their's no change, then I don't know what to say about that. It works for me fine.
