need help figuring out how to mount microphone to a stand

Hi all,I currently am facing a bit of a problem. I'm trying to work out what to do with two technically functional mics which I am unable to use because I can no longer get them on a mic stand. I'm very much an amateur/hobbiest when recording, I mostly use these mics for Teamtalk/random game recordings, nothing really studio-oriented. I don't even use a pop filter or shock mount. So I'm going very minimalist for the time being.So here's the story. A number of years ago, I bought the Audio Technica ATR2500 USb microphone. It's a large diaphragm cartioid microphone, which came with something which I think is called a ring mount. It's the part you use to attach the microphone to a stand. One end screws around the bottom of the mic, and the other is I think a 5/8 inch threaded thing you screw into your mic stand.About two years after I got the mic, I noticed the microphone was starting to wobble a bit and there was a bit of a crack/seem in the left hand side of the mount. Within minutes, the mount cracked and split apart in my hands. I stored the microphone away for safe keeping and, thinking that I couldn't get a replacement mount without getting a new mic, decided to take the opportunity to see what other mics were out there. The ATR2500 is good for what it is, and I might use it again one day, but I had always heard good stuff about Rode. Even though it's more expensive, I decided to go with the Rode NT-USB. At first I didn't like it, but it has really grown a lot on me.Well, it's served me well for four years, which is probably the longest time I have gone with a microphone I think. However, the dreaded wobble started showing itself recently, and sure enough, a few hours ago its mount snapped in half as well. So now I have two perfectly good mics, the ATR2500 and the NT-USb which are practically useless to me because I can't get them on a stand.For the longest time, I assumed that these mounts were OEM parts so I could not get replacements. I vowed that if something ever did happen to my NT-USB, I would swear off USb microphones for good, and instead just use my audio interface, maybe get a Rode NT1A and use that. My thought was that surely if I start using standard microphones, then I can use standard mounts too, and just replace them if they break. Besides it would get me out of my amateur way of doing things and would, hopefully, make me tackle my fear of phantom power lol. But a friend of mine told me he doesn't think that'll actually help the stand issue; he told me when he saw the Nt1A, it looked very much like the NT-USB. Him and I both aren't very experienced with this though, so we're going largely on educated guessing which isn't really an option when trying to find compatible parts.Compounding this issue is that my ATR2500 and my NT-USB actually have different end shapes where the mount screws in. On the ATR, it's rounded but with flat top and bottom, on the NT-USb, it's completely round, so the two mounts wouldn't even be interchangeable. So, I'm tentatively concluding that you need a Rode mount for a Rode mic and an Audio Technica mount for an Audio Technica mic. I"d like to get confirmation on this, to make sure I"m not missing some kind of stnadard, but I'm not really finding anything conclusive. In fact, Google has directed me to a few so-called universal mounts, but I can't see how these two different shapes can be represented in one universal part and how it could be secure. In short, I guess I should be asking how do people who use large mics in studios handle this? Do they have standard mounts which Is hould know about or do they have to get the manufacturer-specific one?Then I have to decide if I want a shock mount or not. I saw a shock mount twice, and both times I had no idea what I was looking at, so when I see "shock mount" I'm drawn away because I'm afraid I won't be able to use it properly. It's probably very simple, I just never had the time or opportunity to work out how to use that web to hold/suspend the mic. Maybe now would be a good time to get one and try it, but I don't think that would solve my mounting problem... So not sure if it's worth it.The good news is that Rode does seem to have replacement mounts I can get. I found a cheap one for $15 which is probably the one that came with the NT-USb, and they also have a shock mount which is supposed to be compatible with the NT-USb as well. So I do have Rhode options if I need them. I just don't know what exactly to think at this point.And now I can't help but think about the cheap mics I used to have, I think they were dynamics. They were the long skinny ones you can just put into a universal stand clip and it'll hold the mic in pretty nicely. No hassle really. But I'm getting waaay in over my head with these larger condensers. So any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated!Thanks in advance.

For none nicotine vapes, just purchase the none nicotine flavours. and regarding the vapes, i had a smok alien vape. you could install software upgrades via a USB cable, though i never tried that part before. i didn't know how to at that time i was still vaping. but that vape was smart. i think it could go up to 120 wat if i am not mistaken...

All i just wish to  understand is how does the communication between the client and the server work in online games. I know you make use of sending and receiving packets between the client and server, from server to client and then you also get the channels. i think if i am not understanding it wrong, the channel is the link to the machine or client connected to the server... but yeah. that's about all i could manage to understand. perhaps if any one could please explain to me how this works? like let's say i am for example coding server side movement: just the basic, like a side scroller. when the user presses right arrow key, he/she moves one step to the right. when the user presses the left arrow key, he or she moves one step to the left. that's it for the moving. now for the server: could it be that when the right key is pressed, the client sends "right" and the server sends to the client that it's alwrite to move right? and based on the feedback from the server, you make the code work to move the player to the right? the same for the left key... thanx and best regards.

Its weird on my end too. I can launch STS via mod launcher, click Play via OCR, but after doing that, the screen, even with OCR, stays blank, no matter what I do, I cannot find anything about daily climb or embark, even though I want to try this .

You can only upgrade Solo with its own firmware, as long as you don't get a hacker version, which is basically unlocked so you can really play with it, but the normal, secure version only supports upgrading with newer and signed versions of the official solo firmware, nothing else, approved by several security experts by reading and understanding the code as well as testing it themselves, which you can do yourself if you so desire, getting a Solo key to play around with is not that expensive too. BTW, not even Solo themselves is able to read the internal encryption key of the Solo keys with invalid or valid new firmwares alike, so no chance, even for hackers, to get this key out of the controller on purpose.I don't want to say that Yubekeys are bad at all. They are working fine and they are out on the market much longer than Solo, which is one of the reasons why they are so popular, but I personally don't like the idea of not being able to upgrade my hardware with new features when necessary. I just wanted to say that Solo is much cheaper than the Yubikeys and comes with the same feature set, plus its open source in hardware and software, and due to its popularity, all kind of experts validated both and are happy with the results, trusting in Solo each day.After all, there are many more U2F key distributors out there and all of them have their pros and cons, if you want to use one of those yourself, its probably best to inform about multiple of them and decide for the one you want to stick around with, but for people who don't have the money for a Yubikey right from the start and want to see how U2F actually works, getting a cheaper alternative like Solo might be the better option.Best Regards.Hijacker

I imagine the robo-dog would be immensely useful for them to safely do remote inspections or repairs on Starship prototypes, such as when SN4 had a methane leak and they decided to wait until it ran out of fuel.In terms of accessibility, Spot has 360 degree depth cameras, so it could theoretically walk ahead of someone and transmit environmental data via bluetooth to a pair of headphones, like a sonified depthmap, OCR, LIDAR, etc. essentially a mobile sensor platform. Something like a museum or other exhibit could potentially have it as a guide to direct people from point to point. Given the limited battery life though, it would probably be best used for inspecting dangerous areas, unstable buildings, bomb inspection, gathering intel on areas where enemy combatants could be, etc. Or it could maybe be used in heathcare settings to ferry test samples from around the facility to the lab, carry things like linens to the laundry, gather and deposit fresh linens in the rooms for staff, as some other robot models have been designed to do.

Yes, even I have a 2 in 1, and even though NVDA supports touch interactions, the experiance isn't that pollished. I could realy appreciate scrolling screen with some gesture, also things like start menu, desktop, going back should be assigned to a gesture. Narrator works far better with touch.

Hi all.I'm creating this topic to discuss The last of us part ii, which has been released for Playstation 4 the 19th of June 2020 at midtnight in your own timezone.I'm creating this topic in the new releases, because the game is fully accessible to blind gamers.This topic will be full of spoilers, so now you have been warned.How to start the game for those outside the US:1. You can easily find the game on the home screen. If you press the down arrow on the game, the games music will play. This is a great way of knowing that you have the right game selected.2. The TTS and the games menu support most languages.I look very much forward to play the game later today. I have never been that much excited for any game before. Is there a way to select another object because sometimes it can be a problem.Small example: there is a brick on the ground. Hi, Nick.TubeSim was and continues to be a neat audiogame. Great challenge, great learning curve, great sound design and very nice controls. Only one question: How do I go back to main menu from inside the game? Pressing Escape calls to review last 10 messages, and the game window won't respond even to Control+F4. Sometimes, for example, I miss a station for a couple meters and then I really want to start it over in order to try a perfect run, right now I'm having to end application through task manager.Thanks and congratulations.

Actually for the record, the custom rank at ten k was more because we ran out of rank name ideas at that point than any specific planned reward system, and even with that, people who get to ten K would still need to tell admins their custom rank and have it set I believe.this board has more in built ranks than most on the internet, usually ranks are just something like newby below 25 posts, junior member below 500 and senior member above 500 and there people stay forever. 5k would be fair enough I think, plus as I said, I still like the idea of more custom rank competitions.I don't like the idea of rank as a karma reward though.

You could also implement a navigation system like  in redspot, where you had to press the spacebar to jump, while you could use the arrow keys only for walking in a specific direction. You could press the ALT key to run, while you could use controll to shooed The game could also announce in witch direction you facing, whehn you press CTRL with the arrow keys.

Yes. I'm deliberately making the game harder by having all one type on my team. Of course, I'm going to have moves of other types, and I've got a mix of physical and special attacks...but yeah, this is definitely supposed to be a challenge down the road. Right now, it's cake. There actually aren't too many types that resist holy. When and if I do a poison run, that might be even harder.As for the chrono cores? You can get one per playthrough. Well, I've beaten the game an ungodly amount of times now, and for the last several runs I've been dumping chrono cores on traded manamon. So here's the process.1. Get to the point in the game where you can get a chrono core. Alternatively, beat the game and make sure you got the core.2. Breed a new team of manamon, and shove the chrono core on one of those.3. Trade those bred manamon away, including the one holding the chrono core. The intention is to use that bred team on your next playthrough.4. Start a new playthrough, and get your bred team back.5. Play through the game till you get a chrono core...and now you have two.I've done that several times now, so I have four chrono cores already and will gain a fifth when I hit the requisite part of the story. It's time-intensive, but it's completely legal and doesn't involve cheating, just a lot of trading.

Oral surgery sucks. My sympathies.To be fair, I think people's tolerances re: number of manamon and moves and such are different. I have no trouble keeping track of Pokémon, which is mainstream and far, far more complicated in this regard than manamon has ever dreamt of being yet. Yes, I'd like to see better moves and designs and even names in some places (Dageetle gets right up my nose, seriously)...but I don't think that improvements there should mean a sacrifice in other areas. Put bluntly, if I can design something like 140-ish manamon in a four-hour plane flight, and could probably balance their stats, moves, abilities and the like in the space of, say, two weeks of solid development, shortcomings on that front shouldn't really be excused by all the moves and manamon introduced with this game.

I don't believe any part of scripthook can reach the menu or the phone so we're out of luck on that one. Also correct me if I'm wrong, the  mod has a lot of the features of the simp trainer. I mean the only thing it doesn't have is npc spawning witch wood be neat I admit. So basically we can do a lot of things that the simple trainer can do. These are just my thoughts however.

A lot of folks who have specific goals in mind and tend to fall into the trap of thinking they require a CS degree to build a website.Don't get me wrong, you don't need a CS degree to build a kick ass website front to back with layers in between. In fact, that can be super advantageous for portfolio purposes.Where expectations need to be set is what computer science actually is, why undergraduate students in the major are required to take the courses they're required to, and what to do to prepare for and where to go post-graduation.That being said, I encourage anyone to take as many classes, gain exposure to different concepts, both on the theoretical and practical sides, and just do whatever they can to experience different aspects of the field.

@18Probably worth another thread but game AI is, well, stupid.  Final Fantasy XII is a videogame that is interesting in two respects: it has every mechanic most audiogames have, and one of the main game mechanics is you got to give party members a set of triggers of the form condition, action, target.  And that was enough to get them playing like humans.  Not great humans, but good enough.Everyone always expects a big epic thing with neural networks or minimax. No. You can get ridiculously far with some if trees and a pathfinder.  Literally:for m in mobs:

I recommend creating an offline game first with AI as your other players. You'll learn a lot about algorithms and improve your coding skills at the same time. I should do this too, to be honest, create a game with AI, I'd love to sit down and finally make a breakthrough in that area. Artificial intelligence has always been a fascination of mine. Trouble is, well, I already have a project on my plate. No details here, let's just say it's happening and taking a lot of my time. The chunks that I have left are taken up by AP reading and or just plane relaxing because I'm a human, too.I've been learning Python for three years. I say learning because there is stuff I don't yet understand. Networking makes my head hurt at a low level, and all the libraries like pyenet have interesting breaks which cause endless frustrations on my end. What I am attempting to transmit here is that while it's difficult to downgrade your ideas, sometimes you must take a step backward in order to advance closer to your goal. Biting off more than you could chew leads to endless amounts of pain, I may be speaking from experience here, see Escape Room. That code was pretty much equivalent to your second BGT version with mixes of the first one thrown in when it comes to saving. I didn't know about a lot of built in Python parsers and rolled my own, which was a terrible idea to say the least.

Good for you.  Eventually that turns into just cleaning up code without the full rewrite, followed by a weird nonlinear take-off where you suddenly can handle projects where every project is twice as big as the last one.  Once you've made the breakthroughs into the land of understanding modules and how to split things up it becomes possible to only work on a piece at a time and then you can contemplate 1 line projects that are 1 lines because they need to be as opposed to because it could have been done better.  SO give it a little bit of time and effort and that'll happen for you.

When doing the daily climbs, does anyone else have to launch a vanilla sts, click play, click daily, and click embardk, then quit, and launch mts-launcher?  That's what I have to do to get into the dailies.  Once that's done, I can launch my mods and start playing, but I have to have a vanilla STS first to click the options.  I wonder if my options got changed with something I did?

agree with the score adjustment with obstacles, but if that doesn't end up working it's fine either way. Would love for you to be able to manually speed up or slow down the horse  though. Would just add a bit more controle I think. Also prefer to jump with up arrow, although that's not the biggest deal. Really great game as usual. Thanks for sharing.

no offense taken. The only thing you know about me thus far is I am a teen who has a lot to learn in programming. But for laughs and well, not so much laughs, I can explain the rewrites.First bgt version, november 2018 to january 2019.I was a nut case, and I mean that I was the worst of the worst. No player class. Each player had their own variables. Each player had their own random spin the wheel function, and game menu function. So let's sum this up. At least 30 variables, copied 4 times. Game menu, copied 4 times. The wheel function for random events, copied 4 times. Oh no, this gets worse. The music player in the worst possible condition, takes up about 2 characters, copied 4 times. You thought that was all right? No it gets worse. Each player had a different receiving block of code. This block of code was literally just a copy of the wheel but of course with a different player's variables. So each player had 3 huge blocks of receive code, making a total of 12 receive blocks. Any time I wanted to edit or add an action, I had to edit or add it 16 times, changing variable names each time. Worst game ever. You can see why I stopped working on this after 2 monts. Also one more thing, there were 4 different menus. One for offline, 2 player, 3 player, and 4 player. And in each menu, you had to choose which player you wer joining as. So host had to host from the right menu, and each player had to choose their player join menu item in the right menu or the game was screwed. Oh you bet I still have this code to laugh my ass off. That is the worst mess in coding history. Over 500 thousand characters.Second version in bgt, summer of 2019 to I think october of 2019 or something.One menu, with host and join and offline, as it should be. Player class player class player class! I finally added one! The game was still a mess but hey the player class um, helped more than I can speak.Third final version of bgt version, January or february of 2020 I believe.Cleaned up the music player, and a few more functions. Make send and receive work in the same function so I wasn't copying the function. Added pronouns automatically fixing grammar and perspective whehter you were sending or receiving events. Better handling of multi step events.That last version was actually a good version. But I didn't want peer to peer anymore. I wanted a central server that could host multiple tables at once. Of course this was a big dream that I didn't see happening any time soon. I also thought of maybe rewriting it in python.Fourth version, this first python rewrite.I just recently started this, but due to the helpful conversations we have had, I have not owrked on it uch because I am unsure of what babysteps I should take, which ones I should skip. This goes for both habits like globals and online verses offline. I think right now, I shouldn't skip any steps. Just finish an offline draft. Even if a lot of improvements should be made, at least it is a start, and I have something rather than nothing. Afterall this is a new language and new start for this game, so I should take it slowly. In terms of cleaner code, I have found many many places from my bgt version that I could clean up. So in this version I have taken that opportunity to clean it even more. The music player has gone from 15000 characters down to 4000. The next function has been split into 5 different cleaner functions. I am proud of the amount of cleaning I have done with every rewrite, I have found more and more ways to clean and make my code easier. Shorter and more powerful at the same time.

@2, if you want to just learn more of web programming, I would probably recommend following something like FreeCodeCamp or TheOdinProject.These curricula teach you things like _javascript_, HTML/CSS, databases, React, and so on. But if you want to really dig deeper into computer theory itself, then I recommend the TeachYourselfCS outline.

@2Web development, programming, and computer science are different.  The key part of the phrase computer science is science.  i've heard of this resource (or maybe one like it by the same name on GitHub). It's going to cover lots and lots of things, various forms of math, formal descriptions of algorithms, etc etc etc.  If you just want to do JS or something, it's probably overkill.

Hey! So, I was going through HackerNews posts, and I found something called Teach Yourself Computer Science. I know there are a lot of you who are enthusiastic about programming, and some of you are probably in college getting a CS degree, or already obtained a CS degree.I just wanted to point you guys to this resource in case you haven't heard of it. It's an opinionated outline of the path you can take to teach yourself CS using mostly free resources, almost to the level of what an undergraduate college student might take to earn a Bachelor's Degree (as it is known in the US).Slight warning: 1 or 2 textbooks might need to be purchased if this outline is strictly followed. But as far as the videos are concerned, they are free courses you can find on YouTube or Coursera.A couple notes: Computer Science is not just programming. Programming is a major part, but CS is a broad field consisting of Math, Physics, even Chemistry, and some basic electrical engineering. Therefore, don't expect to just learn to program. CS is generally a rigorous academic program consisting of theory and filled with, in my opinion, many interesting critical thinking problems.I'll tell you what, supplement this with FreeCodeCamp or TheOdinProject curricula, and you'll master programming and/or CS in due time! Well, that's not completely true. Things like this are never truly mastered.I really enjoy procuring resources like this. So let me know if you guys find these things helpful.Even though I already have a background in all of this stuff, I am of the opinion that there is always something to learn, even from beginner content. Not to say I spend a lot of time going through every such resource, but I think it's nice to just browse through these things to see if anything is worth learning or brushing up on.

You do not need Linux to use Git. There is a ported version for Windows, downloadablehere. The book on the same site is availablehere, which goes into great detail about how to use Git.Using a version-control system is pretty important for collaborative work, so it's a smart idea to learn it.

I was successful with all rewrites before this. I just made it better each time. Except now it is in python. I have coded other things in bgt, including the rhythm rage level creator. But right now that one project has my attention. If another idea comes into my head, I will do that too. This is the only project I care enough to rewrite in python

I recently got an email by some mrs, thanks to my iphone deleting my spam folder so i can't see the email anymore (btw does any one know how i can get rid of that? It's anoying because sometimes useful stuff like from webhosters that i have accounts on comes in and gets deleted without me seeing it), and she told me "in tears" that her man just died. And now she wants to give me his 3100 dollars.

I'm asking you as a user at this point, but I don't want to put my staff hat on.You're trying to argue that you're not transphobic, yet you're talking about how transgender people want to be king or queen or whatnot...actually, what the hell are you even talking about? Haily grumbled about a title she didn't like because it misgendered her. How in any way does this make her anything but a disgruntled user? You'll see, too, that she apologized later if she came across the wrong way; I really don't think she did, in a big-picture sense, but still.Please don't think of this, as I've said before, as something where a person made a complaint and got a bonus. Haily's rank change lasts only until she reaches the next one, at which point she goes back to forum default. And it's really small; playroom playgirl instead of playroom playboy. Are you seriously going to tell me that you have a problem with that? If you do, then -you, in fact, are the problem, not Haily.If nothing else, I see this as a way to be more inclusive going forward. When the ranks were created, no harm at all was intended, and there was no thought to misgendering or racial slurs or anything like that. It was generally not something anyone seemed to worry much about. But Haily has brought to our attention that this is an area which might necessitate tweaks here and there. And you know what? That's a freaking good thing. Being willing to adapt is not a bad thing. Haily isn't asking for special treatment regarding rules or any extra privileges, and she wouldn't get them even if she did ask. No one else will get them either. This is literally a matter of perhaps reducing uncomfortable content. It's a slippery slope only if you want to make it one.

I know there are some people on the forums who have been sceptical - and not unjustifiably sceptical - on the possibility of fully equitable mainstream blind gaming experiences.
