Re: Survive the Wild!

Attention everybody, things have officially started happening to battle item inflation on Survive the Wild and to eventually make it a much better, more stable, and far more fun game. To learn more, I strongly recommend you read http://samtupy.com/games/stw/stw_item_deflate.php for all information regarding this project to get rid of unneeded items on the game. If you have a lot of items, this almost certainly effects you. If you have a free account or few items, you likely do not need to concern yourselves with this. And here are my opinion and observation on the above. This donation has cause some players to try and manipulate the top10 spot by actively asking for foods in return of paid items like DFC and Teleporters. One such char is neeraj who in the past days have been pushing hard to trade food items with DFC and TLP.I am glad Sam turn off donation, because not all of us are massive collectors. Those who are rich, either with DFC and TLP are the one who will benefit, and we the players who build up our character slowly automatically lose. The way forward now is for Sam to directly deal with characters which are hording items.

Oh also, did we cover folding vs the aluminum nonfolding cane debate? There is absolutely no reason to use a nonfolding cane. Try that if you're tall, and have a tall cane, and climb into a taxy, or an airplane. And the insistance that anyone with vision loss learn braille, and the overemphasis of it? braille is far far less than it used to be, and definately isn't required if someone sees enough to read print even large print at a reasonable speed.

His combos just come out too damn fast.Come to think of it, same thing happened to me in the MK9 as well, with Shang Tsung.Onaga from the mortal kombat deception, or unchained if you're playing on psp. If you haven't faced him before, then be ready for a beating.Unlimited Hazama from the continuum shift. Okay, I was beaten by you. But why must you act so smug in the meantime?New no 13. from BlazBlue calamity trigger. At least she won't troll you like Hazama.Takemikezuchi from the BlazBlue chronophantasma. Re: frustrated with blindness (read post if you want context)

That is a point though that  it is voluntary. But not everyone will be educated on training center policies to be honest. The issue is, you aren't more likely to lose vision than lose hearing or  have an amputation. If a person has serviceable and stable usable vision, then they should use that and do training that uses that skillset. Waring blindfolds also would be harmful for the brain. If you deprive the brain of input of any kind for a long period of time or regularly, it will start changing. It is known as a processed called neuroplasticity. This is usually helpful for the brain to adapt to new input, like someone having a stroke. But if you cut off senses, the brain loses the ability to process that sense. This is just science and common knowledge. So like if someone has a hearing loss that is substantial and won't treat it, even if you treat it later, the brain perminently loses the ability to process the sounds as well as it used too, same for vision. I would sure hope anyone with vision that is good enough for daily tasks and stable would avoid such training and do research. The ideal training though, is as you said complex to produce, and tailored to each individual. I would think as AI becomes a thing, computers could train you by looking at all of your data, brain acitivity, sensory levels, and other aptitudes. This would produce far more effective training if an AI model  can be trained to process all those variables.

Re: frustrated with blindness (read post if you want context)

Okay, so let's talk really briefly about the whole sleep shades thing. I say "really briefly" here because I'm going to knock your argument into a cocked hat pretty swiftly and then move on.Teaching from blindness, vs. teaching from wildly differing levels of vision, is just straight-up easier on staff. That's point number 1...and it's not even the big one, but it does matter. Another and far more important point? Low vision, even if it's stable, is not always or even largely trustworthy. I mean, if it was stable, usable, good vision, you wouldn't be at a training center in the first place; you're there because your vision is to some extent getting in the way of you doing everyday tasks, and one of those tasks is travel. The reason they take your sight away is because it puts you and all other students at virtually the same baseline. Your vision can't always be trusted and isn't always reliable, and teaching you without the use of your eyes means that unless you, say, get your hands cut off or lose your hearing unexpectedly, you can rely on those skills. Once you leave the NFB, you can use your eyes all you wish, and if that helps broaden your skillset, great! Power to you. Use it all you want. They are there to teach you how to do it blind, to give you a baseline. They are not there to do an in-depth vision test, determine exactly how your brain interfaces with your eyes, and then develop training patterns that will work for every single student.I don't like the NFB's philosophy overall, but I really can't argue with this. I used to be vehemently against sleep shades and whatnot, and I know they will still make some people uncomfortable. But your whole point in going there is to improve your skills. You aren't going to do that if you're constantly wrestling with bad vision, and you aren't going to do it if you're constantly fighting the system. The whole thing is voluntary. Have I said this often enough yet?

Re: nitpicky about how smoothly speech synths can speed up

I think efficiency is important in different ways to different people. For instance, I think some people want to be as efficient as possible all the time, no exceptions. So they'll routinely use speech rates which would kill me to listen to for any extended period. For me, I only care about efficiency when dealing with very verbose text. Like multi-column lists where I can't find an easy way to isolate what I want, or if I'm playing a game where messages go by very quickly.Say you're in a download manager and are downloading several files. The list of downloads has 5 columns: name, date, size, ETA and status, and you primarily care about status. That happens to me often. In those situations, I crank Eloquence to 50 percent with rate boost on. I know that's slow for some, but yeah. At that point, I can only make out bits and pieces, for example I can track what column I'm on, I can make out the first part of the file name, and I can look for specific text i.e. the status I care about. It requires concentration, but it's quicker than using a normal speaking rate and slogging through 5-10 seconds of text on each list item to get that status. I suppose there are better ways, such as messing with the navigator object, but remembering how to do that takes longer for me than just speeding the speech up. I know how, it just isn't something I do every day.As for why I would even complain about how choppy the speech is... For me, it's less a matter of choppiness and more a matter of whether the synth can speed up with ease.A good analogy might be this: Many people are impressed when they hear someone play a piece of music at an insanely fast speed. I admit I'm guilty of being overly impressed with such party tricks myself, and I'm far too adept musically to let those things impress me, but I still do. Even so, I am doubly or tripply impressed with fast playing if the speed doesn't seem to present a problem i.e. the rhythms are freakishly spot on, the tone doesn't suffer, the articulation is smooth and I can hear each note. In other words, I don't find speed offensive at all as some musicians might, (well I might if the song is not meant to be sped up). But I can't deal with a "struggling for speed" sound. I can appreciate the effort if you're just barreling through it to set a new world record, even at the expense of a good controlled performance. But I can't tolerate that on a synth I use every day. And I think I'm more picky than most about what is acceptable and what is not. Or maybe this pickiness is normal to an extent... that's why I made this topic to see what people thought.Eloquence seems to actually be meant for fast rates in my opinion. It doesn't do anything to suggest to me that it's struggling to attain that speed, apart from the occasional clicking which does annoy me, but I think it's gotten less prevalent over time. It creates choppy speech yes, but syllables/individual sounds aren't missing, slurred or distorted, and the basic voice quality isn't mangled.I suppose it's kind of an alien concept though if you're not accustomed to it.Come to think of it, the old Speech player add-on also sped up pretty well if I recall, but I'd prefer an American dialect. And it also sounded really... stiff. Not to mention, I'm not sure if there's a version of it for new NVDA or not. If there is, it could be another fast synth contender I believe.Hell I wish I had the skills to make my own speech synth, but I'm barely past writing simple programs in BGT so it ain't gonna happen any time soon, if at all. Given the speed at which I'm learning to code or lack thereof, I wouldn't get my hopes up lol

I'm not sure what tips you're looking for, but so far, the only accessibility feature I know of on the host front is getting the room code read out loud. Here are some of mine:The lich (Entombed: tell me bout it. All the unholy light and that stupid destruction spell...and if you have the crystal that can restore left, you're screwed. Thankfully though, the crystals are easy enough to destroy.Irrodium (Manamon): Getting to it is a pain. Fighting it is a pain...but what dreads me the most is the cutscene before it.Search and Destruct robot 2.0 (BK2): not just because you have two rounds of massive hords of enemies to die on while getting to this thing itself. Once you find it, you can't ever get close to it or else you'll be spammed with something like 5 bombs or a super destructive missile. By saying you can't get close means you don't even know whether what you release hoping to hit it will actually hit. Any long range weapon is a must, unless you have something to dare it up close. I freak out every bloody time I have to fight this darn bot.Yokotank (BK1): guys, this behemoth rocks...rocks the hell out of you. He can even use his reflex as shield in his second form...as if the first wasn't bad enough. The machine he releases and the timer is also ugh as well. And if you die trying to fend off his second form, bye. See you on first again.Hades (The Gate): he's only beatable by the dev's intention to make us spam lives. Imagine fighting him in real life with only one life left...ergh, I cringe. Every of his hit has the potential to kill. And once he opens the black hole, yar, you're ten times more in a disvantage.Rudolph (Shadow Line): he's not terrifying when you're on something like normal mode. But if you go on hard and once you reach the final battle with that form that can block you, bye arms. Good luck spamming Rurai's arrows. Thankfully though, at least you get some health lying around...but it's still hard as hell. The moment you go no no no no don't hit me! is also epically thrilling and creepy at the same time. The thingy at the end of Alternative Magic: I can't remember how this goes now, but when you're on the top mode of the game while everything's at 99, you have reasons to dread everything especially the moon spawn super hard to pronounce creature. I really need to finish the walkthrough of that game. It's well designed though when it comes to creatures, like jewels specifically for exp. But thing is...is...is...it's not as dreadful as level 99 final boss. If you've been through brainwash/curse/black curse, you know how much of a nightmare and how you sink your heart seeing your well buffed character hit by black curse and end up having to blow them up with melt potion and rebuff again. If you master the demon, however, this becomes a bit less of a pain. Doesn't make it any easier, however. This asshole has everything.@2 Holy shit now that's too interesting to past. Not sure if my computer can handle all those videogames you mentioned though. Who's the final boss in sfxtk? I think I know how to defeat if I know who...cause those series aren't new to me in general. Gameplay wise though, not sure.bk2 19? Isn't it the bitch you need to kill with the hammer? I can't remember what it is for certain. Needa check it out again.@3 Oh, those stupid bears...Yar, the first encounter with it was a pain, though not so much if you're very careful. I'm afraid of the lamp 3 levels later when I have to get the rope more than that thing at low level. The bear is a perfect place to grind small levels though, like 2-3 at least.@4 Unfortunate. Don't think my computer can handle that, or else I wouldn't have missed.@5 I knew the rat king would be in the list somewhere. Hell, if only I had ps4. Needa watch a playthrough vs that specific boss at some point.@6 Oo, which platform are those on? I wonder if I can try.@7 You mean the second copter that can spawn generator and superbot too? Meh, I hate that. Or wait no, it's the first. Don't think the second does that...unless I'm mistaken. It's been a while.Wait what? Bosses in Uoss? My god which one!? I don't think I've seen that. It's been quite a good while since I was on though. But meh, reminds me of the ghost train quest. I love it though. Can you play black ops as a vi? I wanna try it actually.

Yeah it's a Dropbox folder. But you could still contribute guides if you want. Some of the guides in there are just copy/paste Game FAQs documents, which isn't bad, but complete guide from blindness perspective never hurt. I know I would appreciate it.And good for those who have the patience, but we're not all the same!

iPhone and Braille Bible

Hey everyone. So I upgraded my iPhone from a 6+ to a 12 regular. Talk about a big jump. I have a Bluetooth Braille Display that works wonderfully with the phone and Voice Over. The problem is that I have been looking for a Braille Bible app. I have a couple of Bible apps on my phone. I have the Word of Promise, and Bible.is. Bible.is used to be somewhat good but there recent updates to the app has made the text formatting very very funky. If anyone has any Ideas on this topic, please let me know.

In no particular order:The Helicopter (I think it is, anyway)? from bk2. The one that breaks the ground around you the longer the fight goes.Probably more of a mini boss than anything, but the dog rounds in Black Ops 4 zombies (especially when they're electrified)various bosses in uoss mud (particularly the ones that zap you down to 1 hp in 1 hit).

Registry? Via active sync and a registry editor for CE/Mobile devices. Command prompt? By running cmd.exe off the utilities menu, and typing an argument at the command line prompt that Keysoft provides. There is no possibility to retreive output, so you can only do one command at a time.

another point I should touch upon. Its stated here what the harms  of  shooting high if it were, or having extremely high expectations of someone attending a training center are. This approach is indeed harmful and bad. While placing unusual and  extreme conditions on a person make them believe that those unreasonable conditions are indeed reasonable. The purpose of any training program, not just the NFB programs should be to train people for the most common things they will encounter  in daily life. Not the biggest baddest, most unlikely and unreasonable situations, like preparing extremely large meals, or using a manual tool to cut stone because  nuclear war knocked out power type of thing. The problem with shit like this is if we face it, they are unlikely to happen, and second,  if someone doesn't achieve that level of performance, that would make that person feel lazy or inadequate because they would believe what they are doing is reasonable. I know because I had people put pressure on me with very unreasonable demands and requests. Basicly while  doing stuff like this may have an advantage of confidence if that person were to succeed and perform at that level, I don't think it is worth it and the disadvantages are more than the advantages.

Hi ALl,I just grabbed a copy of 13 Sentinels, thanks to some folks here and on Twitter recommending it. I'm looking forward to exploring it, though anime isn't really my thing. I appreciate the work of SLJ and everyone on the guide in the articles room.I'm currently mid-way through the prologue, though have no real idea what's going on. One thing I'm a little confused about is the square button, which hasn't been addressed in the guide yet, as far as I can tell. Am I going to need to use it for the prologue or is it optional?I hope I can get PS4 remote play working so I can use OCR, as it seems like it will help quite a bit.Any advice folks have would be very much appreciated. I'm excited but don't really know what to expect yet.

Messing around with jackbox on a PC

2020-12-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : randomuser via Audiogames-reflector

Messing around with jackbox on a PC

Greetings and a happy new year to everyone. So I just randomly got the jackbox party pack 7 as a new years' gift for myself I guess? Who knows. Anyway, I've been playing around with it a bit and I've managed to create games of quiplash and blather round and have the roomcodes read out to me. I haven't done much else because my screen reader doesn't read any of the options but I do seem able to go up and down the menus with the arrows and activate with enter. I know that this pack has some great accessibility stuff going for it browser-wise, meaning when you're actually playing the game, but I was wondering whether someone has any tips for the hosting part of them. I've tried NVDA's OCR to read the options but all it would ever come up with was a blank result. I don't know if getting the game for a PC was a bad idea or if it only works with screen readers on certain platforms or whatever, but a windows 10 PC was what I had. Thanks in advance and I hope yall are having a good one.

Hey all,So I'm having an issue writing TTS to files with balabolka. Perhaps it's just the amount of text I'm trying to convert, but it gets to somewhere around 14 / 20%, then locks up. What's more, if I stop or cancel it, it crashes, taking NVDA with it.Any idea how to fix this?

Re: Commentary Screenreader now in the Play Store!

@26I'll let others share prices for the One Year, Two year, or Three year licenses, but for when it comes to getting the premium version up and going at least, do the following:1. Visit the User Center section to create a free account, leaving the last field blank.2. Once the above is done, copy or write down the ID that was generated. 3. Visit the Help And Feedback section and choose the PayPal option.4. Paste/Enter in your generated user ID into the notes box, and the amount of money in the dollar box, depending on which license ya picked. You may need to use the EMail listed in the Help and Feedback section, just to make sure your payment went through.Others will chime in here to feel in the gaps.

@Minionslayer, thanks for this. I have previously downloaded stuff just after purchasing, since previously amazon music was still a miner pain to use, rather than being entirely unusable as it is now, but the "download" dialogue never showed up on my recent orders, I wasn't aware you could still get it from the "your orders", page." good to know for future reference, since as I said the fact that one can! still download music from amazon has been the chief reason I've used it to buy stuff, and it has come in handy for that.

@Minionslayer, thanks I have used that in the past since even previously the music ap was time consuming to use. However I don't think it's giving this option anymore. When I bought the soundtrack, the page closed and I was back to the standard listing on the amazon site with the "buy now", button, the popup asking if I wanted the instant download never appeared, and I'd rather not risking throwing more cash at buying the same sountrack again just on the off chance that I might hit the right popup. right now I'm hoping whoever programmed this, along with all of Amazon's share holders get severely bad stomach ulcers as a new years present, the money grabbing bastards!

Hi all,For those who believe in the 0-9 perspective, I.E. That the decade starts with a number ending in 0 and ends with another in 9, happy new year. For those who believe in the 1-0 perspective, I.E. that the decade starts with 1 and ends with 0, as me, Happy New Decade! As this is the last day of the decade, can you remember what you've done all those 10 years? In my case, those 10 years were phenomenal. I just was studying in 3 schools. Then I was partisipating in many concerts and such, and finally I'm studying as an engineer and translator! Ah, and I remember those days when I was playing Battle zone and some other old audio games I eaven cannot remember, ass all that information acquired for those 10 years apparently makes my hard drive space full, but I'm still liberating information from it. Plus this computer taht I have will be a decade old! Inspite I have Windows 10 installed on it, it keeps working as new.

Re: frustrated with blindness (read post if you want context)

Jayde, you wanted examples, here is one. The use of blindfolds for training, and the exclusive teaching of nonvisual techniques in all training is something I would say is objectionable. The argument here is what if your vision goes? But thisn't always the case. What if someone has stable vision? Good training should maximize all sensory experience you have available, not teach exclusively blind modalities. Then, I guess you could make the argument that such people shouldn't attend such training in the first place. You don't need woodworking to develop coordination though. You can do so with regular household chores at a young age, taking apart apliences/gadgets, using large hammers, hammering nails,  using axes etc.  Camlorn, I do understand about the type of people who would go in  to a center, and as you said I am one of those people who stepped outside their comfort zone when needed, and figured things out on their own. Such people wouldn't go to a center anyway. As for rock climbing, with all due respect, why would I try it? There two groups of skills. Skills that are essential for independant living, like cooking, cleaning, mobility etc,  and interest skills, like for example playing an instrument, etc. Rock climbing isn't an essential skill by any defenition, nor is it something I am particularly interested in at the moment. If I was interested however, I would figure it out like everything else.  Mass generalisation like this though is the problem imho. But I guess the good thing is that everyone going to a center knows what they are getting themselves into so.On a note, its important to state that  the US is the only country I know of that has blindness centers. Most of the rest of the world blindness skills are taught at a person's home, in their own environment, not indoctrinating them or isolating them from family or friends, which is believe it or not, a perfect environment for indoctrination. And everyone seems to do fine with that model of training.

Re: frustrated with blindness (read post if you want context)

I mean, that's not my point exactly.  The chances of the average blind person going and cooking a meal for 50 people or what have you are really small.  And yeah, being prepared for the worst situations out there makes the rest easier.  But I don't support that kind of training for that reason, I support it because absolutely everyone who's blind starts from a place of being well behind the sighted person for the same skills.  Plan and cook a meal for 50 people isn't the point to me, and is exactly the kind of training I'd look to offer if I was setting this up.  Why?  because it's a very good planning exercise.  It's a very good multitasking exercise.  It's a very good coordination exercise.  A lot of skills go into that that are generally applicable that it's a great way to practice, and instead of just being busywork it even combines them into something that is in itself a valuable skill that's more than the sum of the parts. Before saying "I don't need rock climbing", well, have you tried it?  Again, not supporting the almost militaristic thing the NFB has going on, but if I was in the typical NFB clientele demographic and someone said "after you leave, you'll be able to do all these things and you got to try rock climbing away from your overprotective carers who would never even let you go outside", that's kind of an amazing deal honestly.  But the other thing is, while I don't support the militaristic aspect of it, at the same time a lot of blind people won't step even an inch beyond their comfort zone unless pushed.  Those of us who will do that on our own don't usually need "I went to independent living camp" levels of training, because we already went off and figured it all out ourselves.  being blatantly pushed/forced into situations is kind of sucky and stressful, but the sort of person who seeks them out probably needs that sort of heavy-handed "you're doing this or going home" behavior, because otherwise they just won't.I've already said I don't like the NFB.  But even the people I know who don't like the NFB have never said anything bad about their training.  And the funny thing is, older isn't always worse.  What everyone here forgets is that there's like 100 years or more of blind people being independent without even cellphones.  The modern tools are very useful.  But the NFB isn't really wrong about training you to not use them.  You're actually capable of not using them.  Not using them gives you a bunch of skills that younger blind people--hell, even blind people my age, even me--don't have anymore. And yes, the NFB has a lot of experience with this stuff.  It's only the last 15-20 years that they've been putting their heads in the sand or whatever it is that's caused them to go so downhill.  It wasn't that long ago that they were one of the huge blindness advocacy juggernauts.  If they make a claim about mobility training, I'll at least listen.I attended one of their science things when I was young.  It was a meh experience, because camping outside and stuff was just not me.  But you know what?  The only sighted person I remember being involved in the entire thing that wasn't like a guest lecturer just drove the vans.  Everything, everything was blind people.  The chefs, you name it.  Everyone running the building, everyone responsible for us kids, all of them.  And they didn't even really make a point about it.Let me just close with this point.  The biggest criticism about them is that they're way too much about never asking for help.  But isn't the sort of organization who treats asking for help as some sort of cardinal sin exactly the sort of organization that has all the O expertise?  What they want you to do takes a lot of joy out of life, but they're not hypocritical in the sense that the people espousing their beliefs do generally actually live like that.  Being cultish is creepy, but that doesn't mean they don't have answers on this specific topic.

Top 20 most terrifying game bosses, blind edition

Inspired by this:https://www.watchmojo.com/video/id/34039I'd like to see this list, blind edition based on your opinions guys. Doesn't have to always be audiogames. Any videogames you've played should do just as much. Can also be from the same games since some of us don't have access or haven't yet tried many titles. Only what you play though, not what you watch. And these are what you find "gutt wrenching" rather than having hard time fighting/getting through.I'm trying to compile mine. Feel free to add yours.:)

Re: frustrated with blindness (read post if you want context)

So, can you provide examples of this so-called "rigid training" that are universally bad? Because I can't.Structured discovery and the "no asking for help on your final test" rule might seem silly to you, but clearly they work, and far more often than they don't. Even if you may never use the exact methodologies yourself, going to a school like this, knowing what it teaches, implies that you're interested in following through with what the school is teaching and how it is teaching it, since, as I pointed out before, attendance is strictly noncompulsory.Woodworking and rock-climbing may seem silly to you, but teaching body coordination is extremely important to some people. It may not be important to you, and again, that's cool, but clearly there is data to suggest that a need is there in a general sense, else why fill that need at all? Again, I'm not saying I especially want to be taught carpentry or rock-climbing, but that isn't really the point.Preparing a larger meal may again seem silly to you, but as Canlorn pointed out, it's sometimes better to shoot high and have those skills than to shoot mid-low and then be hamstrung when you're asked to do more. I would personally have trouble rationalizing this one, but I can see the argument, and it's valid, and if other factors were strong enough, I'd stomach this requirement because I know what I'd be getting out of it (vs. what they hope I'd be getting out of it).In fact, the entire overarching point here is that NFB training centers appear to be setting you up for the worst, the biggest, the baddest scenarios you might encounter. That way, since most of what you encounter probably won't be nearly so bad, you'll be better armed. I don't see this as a problem in itself. It rubs me the wrong way a bit, but I get the point.I'm pretty sure the NFB didn't just arbitrarily sit down for an hour, decide a curriculum with no data, and then enforce it. In fact, I'm pretty sure they did their research on this. If their indoctrinations re: "toxic dependence" are repugnant - and they definitely are - their methodologies have solid logical underpinnings. And I think your continued insistence to the contrary is proof that Canlorn is correct about you. You are ascribing to these skills at large the designation of irrelevancy because you yourself are not interested/would not get much out of such training. And look, as someone who has no real interest in making a meal for fifty people, ever, I get it. But the reality is just this simple. It would be nigh on impossible to make individualized curriculums for every student to ensure that they get the best tailor-made skills for their individual situation. Of course, multiple disabilities do enter into how things are done - they have to, for very obvious reasons - but just as you don't get to simply opt out of complex fractions in grade nine math because you think you'll never use them, you don't get to opt out of body-coordination exercises just because you already do well at them, or just because you struggle. If you do well, then spend the time making or doing something interesting, and rock the hell out of it. And if you don't do well, maybe there's a way to improve, in such a manner that it makes you more useful to yourself down the road of life.I'm totally in favour of being exempt from classes that have virtually no value to you. For instance, I didn't have to do art class, because seriously? Totally blind here, and most of what they did was paint and draw. But I am not in favour of having people decide that this somewhat useful skill is overall un-useful, and so it's silly that blindness organizations teach it. Not to put too fine a point on it, but when it comes to this specific thing, I'm going to take an organization's word for it over an individual, pretty much every time. If I decide there's too much arbitrary bullshit in that organization, that's fine; I don't have to go there. But if I do decide to go there, then it behooves me to try hard at everything in front of me because it is likely to ameliorate my skills in a whole host of areas. And trust me on this. That's never, ever, ever a bad thing.

Re: Olympus LS-P4 accessibility review/guide?

So, basically, you have your arrow buttons. Up / down to cycle through options, left / right to increase / decrease values / change other settings in menus where applicable. You can also use left / right to cycle back and forth between menus if in a menu with multiple submenus. Enter is in the middle of those arrows, kind of like old stile keypad phones. Above those you have the stop recording button on the far left and the start / pause recording button on the far right. You will need to press this price after powering on the Olympus, once to go into recording mode, again to start recording. Above those buttons you have three button / switch thingies. The left 1, I think, takes you to the home folder from where ever you might be. The 1 in the centre takes you to the preferences menu from which you can do a bunch of things, this is where the left / right arrow to go back and forth between menus can be useful. I'm not sure what the right button does, I think it might display the date / time, though that isn't accessible with voice guidance. You also have 2 buttons on the bottom left / right, though again I'm not exactly sure what they do.Inserting the battery is pretty simple, you'll need to do this after removing the device from it's packaging, unless they include the battery inside units now. It's a standard tripple A, so nothing special. You'll notice you have a switch on the bottom, it should be fairly easy to find. Just pull it back, then you should be able to just take the cover of the battery compartment off. From there it's just a simple matter of fiddling with the battery until it clicks into place, then pressing down the cover until it, too, clicks into place. Hold down the switch on the top left side for a few seconds and it should turn on. The rest should be self explanatory, but feel free to let me know if you need any more help.

Yep, agreed with 2 and 4. Graphics with SDL really isn't that hard; SDL pretty much only requires a few function calls and then you can either retrieve an OpenGL context or create a Vulkan one.

Olympus LS-P4 accessibility review/guide?

2020-12-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : nolan via Audiogames-reflector

Olympus LS-P4 accessibility review/guide?

Just got one of these for Christmas, and am wondering if anyone knows a good accessibility review/guide for this thing? I don't need hand-holding--a button guide might be all I need--but some accessibility tips would be nice too. I'll have my girlfriend give me a button rundown, but if anyone has done this work already then I'm happy to benefit from it. Also, recommendations for a good and easy field recording setup? I imagine the built-in mics aren't bad, but holding it plus a cane, or running behind my girlfriend's wheelchair and trying to record something, is gonna get old and dicey quick. Any good, easy-to-wear binaural or stereo mic recommendations that don't block my hearing? Planning on doing a mix of capturing things for memories plus recording any cool ambiences or sounds I find for use in games, so I'd like decent quality if possible. I think I found the tripod mount--are there any other more portable uses for that? I'm not likely to have a tripod on me when I find something interesting to capture, but if there's some other way to keep the mics exposed while not tying up a hand, that'd be nice.Thanks.
