Great tutorial. Lots of helpful information. Just wanted to ask  a question or two. The tutorial warns that the steps outlined would only work on aabb's but that the general idea still applies when it comes to other shapes. (particularly one's that rotate) Is it basically the same except for the actual collision checking? What phrases m I looking for when it comes to learning more about a process that supports these other shapes? Also, finding the pairs of objects that are colliding makes sense, but what about determining what to do as a result of the collision? Would it be practical for objects to contain the code for collision with other types of objects? How do you avoid having to define what happens when Object A collides with Object B and the reverse case of Object B colliding with Object A if they should both result in the same behavior?

Sadly I think the only way is to use chrome. I had exactly the same problem in brave and decided to switch back to chrome. As regarding adds, I use ublock origin, an app which completely erases adds from the pages you visit, even frames can be turned off if you wish.

@147My understanding of the UEB situation is that the English part of it isn't really that much more inefficient.  The primary rationale I've seen for it, though this may not be all of it, is that it's about making it easier for automated translation to be a thing.  Normal old grade 2 has a lot of special cases that make it difficult for everyone, honestly including humans, but especially software (for example to, ff, and ! being the same symbol).  I don't personally know UEB, but I did look into it in detail and my understanding is that a grade 2 braille reader can pick it up and be going in a day or two at most.The specific problem with higher level math in general is really more the point that you can either be one of the blind people who's actually done higher level math, or one of the blind people working in accessibility who hasn't or if they have they're thinking about how to make it work for the 90%.  A lot of the problem with modern accessibility stuff is that if you make it work for the 90% over and over, the 10% that you keep leaving off at the high end starts adding up pretty damn quickly.  Unfortunately, Nemeth is actually absurdly complicated in a way because it's not what you think it is.  They teach it as "this means square root", but it's actually "this means bar above" and you have to learn sighted math formatting before it makes sense.  But at the high levels of mathematics where authors are just like "let notation I invented juste for this paper mean" that's a valuable characteristic.But for English, let's be honest.  Becoming 5% less efficient isn't that big a deal for the sake of less weird snowflake special cases and we all end up leaving braille anyway because it's not practical after college.  We'd probably leave it for math too if someone could crack the math to speech problem.But we do need to get all the people doing accessibility to stop developing for the people who have trouble learning it first.  We can't without changing literally all of society, so it's not going to happen. But in another 10 years when we look back and everyone is like "we've made such strides in accessibility, but blind people haven't been making nearly as much money as they did in the 2010s" or whatever--well, there's why.I'd hesitate to say it's worse though.  It's worse than maybe 10 years ago, in my opinion.  When I first learned the computer you could pick up most software and it'd at least kind of work.  But it's definitely not worse than 30 years ago back in the era of you couldn't do office paperwork at all, and we've only really been able to have a good cellphone experience at all for well under 10 years as well.  I see a lot of really discouraging downward trends, where things like academia are eating what used to be a bunch of blind hackers hacking on Jaws or whatever and turning it into "but that's too complicated" and shit, but it's fortunately only just starting.

as for being blindfolded while playing sports, that makes alot of sense, so you don't represent an unfair advantage to your teammates, as those sports are supposed to be played without sight.And that type of blindfolding is extremely brief, during matches, so it is extremely unlikely to result in a change.

Ok  everyone says how   hard nemeth and grade 2 is. Honestly what is hard about grade 2 or nemeth? The number of contractions is childs play compared to Turkish braille. Turkish has a grand total of 832! contractions. And the affix contractions' meaning changes based on what word they are appended to. Turkish braille is so hard it takes at least like grade 2-3 to master all the contractions and start reading fully contracted braille. Only third grade books were written fully contracted.

This is just my opinion, but I feel like UEB was pushed on us by sighted braille readers because learning grade 2 contracted and nemeth is too difficult to keep straight if they transition from one to the other. I guess, context is becoming a foreign concept. Grade 2 rocks, and while I can read UEB, I can't stand it and, without some compelling reasons why it is better, ever endorse it as something worth teaching as a primary method of braille.As far as being blindfolded, if you play goal ball or beep-baseball, you will also be blindfolded and have to function. I know totals who can't navigate their own houses without getting lost, and I know partials who can function perfectly fine without sight. Even still, one thing I think that is overlooked in the argument about neuroplasticity, is that the more you exercise the brain in making new connections, the longer neuroplasticity remains flexible. No training center is ever going to be long enough to completely irreversibly restructure the brain, and by the nature of learning new skills will increase the adaptability once the blindfold is removed.I have relatively useful light perception, I can see different shades of contrast, but no color, so for instance I can see the difference between sidewalks and grass, or sidewalks and the street, although grass and the street look the same to me. I also function perfectly fine with a blindfold. What I can't do very well is honestly wearing a mask, sunglasses, or a hat. They create both a shadow makes it constantly look like I'm about to run into something, and they change the way I hear things in my surroundings.I do think access has gone down over the last fifteen years or so. With my first guidedog, throughout her working life I got denied twice. With my current guidedog, I get denied about once a month or so. Then with the prevalence of most electronics moving to touch screens, money in the U.s. still is not accessible despite several rulings by the supreme court, Then with jobs being generally harder for us to get and much less be competitive with a sighted counterpart, blindness does suck especially once you have bills and a mortgage.

You disappoint me, good sir.As for reproducing the link bug, I actually used this forum to test it, with the links at the ends of people's posts, profiles, etc. It worked *some* of the time, other times it would actually give me a forum message page, which is usually what happens if there's an error, other times I'd either get nothing, or the dreaded mot a link.

Computergamer, same here about Jessie & Tifa and I'm curious to see where it leads.  It's funny how miserable Cloud can be at times with them, but it does seem like he's getting more open with Tifa.  That's awesome to hear that you listened to all of Brothers.  How you described it, was pretty much how I approached it as well, start to finish.  It had a charm like no other game I've played, and the twists hit me hard.  It didn't overstay it's welcome, and it told that whole story without any words.  What a game.

Hi.Libby and OverDrive are from the same company, and OverDrive can still be downloaded. If you have the Windows client, you can download the audio files from the book. I unfortunately have never tried it so not sure what the steps are

About the wii u, it is not accessible at all. The system uses a lot of images for the options and there are no sound for selecting a option. You can use the gamepad to select things like games, but you have to figure out yourself where to press on the screen. I used to play games on my wii u, but have not used the console for a while.

@2: do you mean you didn't find what the gesture is, or that it is not working?@3, what app are you using it in? are You sure you are actually focused on the link? if Automatically set system focus to focusable elements is off, you might need to actually tab to the link instead of arrowing to it. I tested it in chrome, firefox  and uniGram.

Well, the reasons you likely get these capchas is that you might be using an ISP with a virtual IP address. That will cause it to come up far more than normal.Maybe try requesting a real IP, and that should remove it.

Got it, thanks. I had an older Olympus, so I was able to navigate their non-intuitive file delete interface OK.Now, is it possible to adjust the volume of the voice guide? I could see that being at a good/bad level based on what's going on around me. Poking random buttons didn't seem to get it, and I thought my older model had volume buttons.Thanks.

Commenting on someone else's blindness skills, when you have niether the info or training to actually evaluate them is insulting.As for ueb?  How does that hold anyway? What was the point of it. I know NLS magazines use UEB, but it did away with several contractions. What point does this have other than to make braille bigger?As for neuroplasticity, if a change happens, and like the visual cortex thing, and you don't want it to happen, it is bad. Because neuroplasticity of that area when blindfolded causes the connections of the eye to weaken, and connections to the touch or hearing centers to strengthen. So suddenly your vision would be even more bad and less useful than it used to be.As for braille, I physically wrote it in the beginning of 2019.

@Vazbol, I am not sure how many alternatives are in the game, since yeah, I chose etiquette too, though also you do need to get friendly with a certain person to have things work out in your favour, since this is one game where combat is usually the wrong choice, although that sort of does go with how the story is if you think about it .It's also one  where saving is necessary at points, or at least speeds things up, since while not as impossible as something like hellfire or some of the rwgb games, this one is probably on the harder end, though when you look at it on the site I don't think it's been assigned a difficulty.

What's wrong with COG forum?

Hi,So I don't really know whether it is because of the browser which I use (mozilla firefox,) or maybe it is genuinely not so friendly for VI people, but the choice of games forum where I could get tips on one game that is the most complex and difficult I have ever played, and I'm saying this after like 30 replays of it in my life, is very hard to follow.Either way, I was trying to read some tips and general opinions about this game, and it just seems to jump all over the place.Once I am reading about Isabelle Rochester for example, then as soon as i press up arrow or something else, it jumps to some random post about Primrose. I wasn't done learning grade 2 Braille until I could spell the contractions in different words. I guess I had a good vision teacher, because to me that basically overrides the issues with contractions people are saying. Braille is much to slow to avoid the contractions entirely. I'm not a fan of  Unified English Braille Code either, because of math and space reasons as well.

a@23Whether it matters depends on what you're doing, but yes it can matter.  Consider client-side interpolation for online games for instance--if you're off by 2 percent then that's not so great for a spell that lasts, say, 2 minutes: the client could say that it stopped anywhere from a couple seconds early to a couple seconds late.  Usually late.Again, the difficulty isn't the limiting.  Limiting is fine, but you end up potentially limiting *too much* without some extra calls.  Practically, is 1-2 ms accuracy either way going to matter?  Maybe, maybe not.  But if you tick 60 times a second and you haven't set up a very high resolution timer, your ticks are 16 ms vs. a sleep that's 20ms late or more sometimes, which is an entire frame.If you're already incorporating a delta you just measure the duration from the start of the last tick and use that instead, so it's really not that hard to fix.Consider rhythm games.  If you're doing a rhythm game 20ms is significant.  If you're doing SoundRTS it doesn't matter and you could even update as slow as 5-10 times a second before audiogame players would notice (though if it had graphics that wouldn't be true).  You have to pick where you are along the continuum.The issue is that Chris is writing a library.  In a library, you have to choose the most suitable trade-off for your users.  I don't know what that looks like because I'm a more advanced programmer than most people here and actually fixing this the right way is pretty easy for me.  *maybe* the right answer is "we don't care".  Maybe BGT did that, say, and we all got away with it.  I don't know.  But the trade-off has to be decided on and whatever it is gets enshrined in the library forever.

They don't show you the file itself. I think your referring to the send to kindle part? If that's what you mean, you just sign into your amazon account and hit send to kindle. Amazon supports library books. and since the audiobooks are right in the app, you never interact with the file itself.

It's slightly cheaper than the Anker, which is what I was considering, though Anker also has a cheaper speaker that's probably the same sort of idea. I know Anker's supposed to be really good electronics, assuming they're the same people who do the power adapters and stuff.The 360 degree sound is interesting, assuming it actually works, then you don't have to worry about orientation. But really I could see either of the Anker speakers working too.

If the list talked about toughest boss to fight, Rudolph should have been added, as well as Byakuya in Bleach ds: the blade of fate. You gotta try that game yo. But since it's not then...Master Daias should be instead.The hazard of getting to him is cringe-worthy enough, being thrown right in a spider's nest, then fall into a ghost lion's pit...not to say finding rats and stuff before you find the key to where he is. And he just pops outa nowhere out of the dark blue. I don't like the sound design though. How can a ghost sound like that anyway.Have anyone mentioned Daias? I think this guy deserves a spot here. The atmosphere in that castle is nerve wracking enough. The disturbing event leading up to him just...somewhat realistically depicts what could happen when you try to infiltrate ancient Roman castle I guess. But at least you encounter that more forgiving ghost instead of a gladiator.

You then get a combination of these letters (3 of them, I think?) when trying to log in, and succeed if you choose the password that has the numbers that match those letters behind it.The letters of the passwords themselves are irrelevant. What you need to do is check the Authenticator List where their number values are stored. On first turn they will be fairly meaningless, but whenever you choose the wrong password, the right password for that turn will be invalidated, and you can check the Authenticator List again to see which one it is. So if the second letter code contains one of the same letters, you can look for one of the same numbers. For example:You try to log in, and hear that the code is ARB. You check the auth list to get a list of passwords, choose one at random, and it turns out to be the wrong one. So you check the auth list again, and see that the password that got invalidated has the numbers 174.So what does this mean? It means that ARB =174. A =1, R =7, B =4.Now, imagine the next log in code you got was RED. You don't know the values for the other two letters, but you know R =7. So you can check the authenticator list for passwords with values that start in 7, and choose one from between those passwords. And if you're lucky, it will be the right one. hey,Gotta start the new year in good shape, isn't it?Here goes my latest new release. It's a little addon, but I thought someone might find it useful and/or improve it. If not... I guess I know where to find it if my ssd crashes )DetaLink  speaks the title of the page a link goes to, without actually opening it. Remember those bit.ly links? Just press nvda+alt+q on them, and you'll find out what they actually link to, therefore  you'll be able to decide if they are worth opening. The same with youTube clips.Also, if the link is an mp4 or aac audio, it plays it without opening a player. To stop the audio, just focus a non-link element and press nnvda+alt+q again. It is not possible to restart the playback from where you stopped, this was designed only for small files. If I'm not mistaken, PySDL2 expects you to already have SDL2.dll lying around somewhere and doesn't provide the DLL its self unless you pip install pysdl2-dll, I think this only works on windows. I know there's a way to bundle DLLs with PyInstaller because Pygame does it, I don't know how though.

Agree with 20. Though there's a few timers I know of that would work, none of them are directly accessible, and the overhead of priorities plus  scheduler plus interrupts equals inaccuracies. The real time clock for example can tick at up to 122ns per tick, but you run into the problem of "Well this isn't something I can exactly measure". The APIC has microsecond-level granularity, which is wonderful... Until you realize that by the time your program gets woken up from sleeping your interval is long gone. So when you sleep you generally have to just do your best.
