Navigation for the blind (algorithm of redirection) Hello guys,I guess some of you remember me. I developed an app (actually web app) to help blind users to navigate. After doing so I got an advices to make it as a native app, because web interface, impossibility to make app as a service and other glinches that creaped out, so I finally decided to make an native Android app as a navigation for the blind.About 6 years ago I developed an app called Walk helper for blind as well and got no less than 10k downloads which is pritty impressive I can say, especially when it wasn't very good. It didn't have turn by turn features and could be used only for custome routes and since I lost it's sourcecode, I dropped that as well.Now I intent to do it on my freetime so it could be a bit slow, but I already began to experiment with Mapquest, Open street maps, Google maps APIs. I don't know yet which way will I decide to go, however for example with Mapquest, I get turn-by-turn steps and already got lucky extracting / parsing them. So I have lat/ lon, names, distances... I already made calculations for cardinal directions (east, southwest etc.), clock directions, as well as by degrees of-course, so you would no the way you're heading to (relative directions) in your prefered manner. I guess just simple as turn right, or turn sharp left / slight left will be implemented as well, because there is almost same algorithm for all of them.Now my biggest challenge:I do have calculations of a distance from the current location to the next point that I need to approach, absolute direction in a glance of a true north, relative directions as well as I said, accuracy, movement speed, but I have no good algorithm of detecting when to asume that user reached the point so I should show him / her the next step. In the past that is what I was doing:I calculated the distance between current location and the current step / point and threshold as for instance 10 meters, so if your distance to the current point is less than 10m, you got redirected to the next point. Also if your relative direction to the current point shows that point is behind you (something in range of 135 and 225 degrees) and now you're heading to the next step (in range of for instance 315 and 45 degrees), then you got redirected as well. I don't like this algorithm, because streets aren't always straight and routing services aren't always that friendly to add extra steps during the slight turns of a street when it does so. I can check an accuracy and modify threshold of a distance in terms of it, but I don't like that as well, because sometimes routing services give points that are in a middle of a street and actually you can not locate there and got redirected a lot later than that, or might not be redirected as well due to not straight streets.I thaught of a bounding boxes which would help in termps of a shape of street, but routing services do not give that information for a single step, only for a wide of all route. Now I consider about the formula which calculates lat / lon by giving coordinates of a point, bearing and the distance to get where point would be. So my point is to add points each 10 meters from the current step towards next point and always mesure distance from current location to the virtually made points and mark them as user crosses by. Although it looks better than algorithms I mentioned before, but it still the distance which creeps especially near toll buildings or so.I just need some thaughts when should I redirect user to the next step / point and how to check properly if user follows the route or not? Re: tau station is live Pvp is a thing, but if you stay in your hotel room while not doing anything important and if you regularly put your money into the bank, you should be safe. Most players that do pvp are on higher level stations most of the time anyway, so in the Sol system at least you should be safe almost all the time. Tau station doesn't allow pvp at all. Just remember to buy a clone if you're going to a station with no sick bay on it and plan to spend a lot of time there.There's PVE opportunities in the ruins, you can either look for trouble which can give you one enemy to fight, or a sewer campagne that makes you fight 6 of them for rewards. And syndicates have their campagnes of course. You might also want to check what's happening with Junction gate these days, actually I need to look that one up myself.Then there are some of the interactive fiction titles such as the two worldsmith games, and possibly more as well, although worldsmith is highly worth just for the worldsmithing, not to mention the ccg tournament. Planet life is highly worth a play, though if you want some light relief and silly fun try cript shyfter. Btw, last I checked the crypt shyfter games were being sold by the maker of erotic fantasy titles, and though the crypt shyfter games have some erotic elements they're more silly adventuring fun with some rpg elements. Speaking of silly adventuring fun, just checking, I've found that apparently the eamon remastered games have a github page with the source code, so it's entirely possible these are playable offline too, and if you want awesome single player games Eamon is one of the best, Go to the source code link on the eamon remastered website.I also wonder if some of the quest games could be downloadable? These tend to be hit and miss access wise, but I do recall someone mentioning a pretty awesome quest based space rpg recently, and I'd love to download avast yee maties, not the least because that is one game which really needs the ability to save and the quest website is silly. It was brought back in a much more limited form because every screen reader but NVDA broke, if I recall. Probably for some other apps, too. But it was tried and it was apocalyptic.As for hardware and licensing, yes, that used to be true. How true? I probably still have a free dongle somewhere from when I had an alienware that would disable the discrete graphics card in the bios if you turned it in while it wasn't plugged in. Jaws would deauthorize every time it switched to and/or from battery unless I was stupidly careful to make sure it was always plugged in at boot. As far as I know it still does shit like this, but some of the newer subscription licensing stuff may make it much less of an issue. The official party line when I went through that was "you didn't buy a laptop from this preapproved list that isn't anywhere? Grumble grumble escalate the call a bunch of times haha we removed the old fix for this have a free dongle but we are really mad about this, valued customer". It was one of the last straws for me switching to NVDA. Remember Captcha Be Gone? Remember how that was a subscription service and how it just stopped working and there were no plans to fix it or any notification whatsoever? I bought a Chicken Nugget license, and soon after the developer just abandoned it because he didn't feel like supporting it anymore. Again well within his rights, but it screwed me and others over. Then he has the nerve to leave it up on his site for anyone to buy and be unable to use. Hell no. Fortunately there's TwBlue and now I use that. I also had a Captcha Be Gone plan, and then that just stopped working without notice too. I wonder if I'm better off following a walkthrough or something, at least initially, or if I can find one of sufficient detail. 2D mode is nice, I get obstacle bump noises, but it's still kind of disorienting.IF anyone has tips for how to navigate in this kind of environment i'd appreciate them. Here we had, in the first day or two, a group break off from the majority of the protestors that caused a bunch of damage. They were denounced by the rest of the protestors and protestors would show up the next day to help clean up.We had protests for weeks and they were pretty much all peaceful, except for the incidents in the first couple of days. But our local news would lead ads mentioning protest coverage off with a cop car on fire. Again, that happened three weeks to a month before. It happened once. But for the news, that shit was forever.I think for me the big difference is this. Yes, rioting, indeed violence period, is IMO never the answer. But for BLM, here's the situation. They've been saying for years black people have been getting screwed over and killed by the police. Everybody mostly shrugged and went, "nah, the police are here to help"! Then we started seeing cellphone footage. Unarmed dudes getting shot in the back while running away, a guy informing the cops he had a legally permitted gun and getting killed, a 12 year old kid getting killed for having a toy gun like five seconds after the cops showed up, and so on. We're literally seeing people get murdered on national TV. And still, we, by which I mean white people, are still kind of like "yeah but that cop had a really hard day". I'm not saying I condone rioting, I'm just saying, I sort of understand being pissed off that now you have direct evidence, and you're still going "eh, whatevs".Contrast this with the idiots storming the capitol last week. They all think VP Pence should have done something he literally couldn't have done. If you don't know anything about QAnon, feel free to look into them, and good holy gods get ready to be shot in the face by a fire hose of batshit insanity. I mean some of them believe that VP Pence and Nancy Pelosi are dead, and any media appearances are deep fake CGI constructs. There's aliens involved somewhere. Cannibalism of babies. I mean, it's just complete and utter lunacy because it pretty much takes every conspiracy theory you've ever heard of and crams them into a big giant ball of dumbness. I mean it's just based on absolutely nothing whatsoever except the idiotic fever dreams these people are coming up with in their own heads.I said that they all believed Pence should have done something he literally couldn't do, in other words throw out the electors and send it back to the states to get new ones, because not everybody who stormed the capitol last week was QAnon. But there were a *lot* of Q people there.So for me, while I don't agree with the rioting, what I will say is that when you get angry, you sometimes do irrational things. The difference is that BLM has something to actually be angry about. The Q people, and the other assorted dumbasses who stormed the capitol last week, are literally angry about a bunch of completely made-up bullshit that's entirely divorced from anything remotely connected with reality. Also, BLM didn't try to take over the national government or threaten to murder the officials of said government. That doesn't make the violent stuff they did right. I'm just saying, it's kind of on a different level from what happened last week, which was the attempted subversion of our entire republic because some dipshits think that Nancy Pelosi kills babies for their brain chemicals so she can become or remain immortal, I'm honestly not clear on exactly what's supposed to be happening there. The fact is though, above rank 100-200 that's the only kind activity there is, and it feels more like you're doing an actual RL job than playing a game. When all there is to do is RP, type the same commands over and over in between long periods of waiting or building a factory maybe? I can also see why you like the game, because honestly I did for quite a while as well. He keeps making changes so I sometimes like to pop back in to see what's new, but that's about it. Turkey has manditory 2 year logs policies, so congrats, all your texts, and phone calls etc are in a server easily accessible to the government and can be used against you in court. Also heard of it copieing data on phone, and uploading to those servers too. At least Whatsapp and facebook don't usually easily share the data with Turkey, they use the data for their own purposes. I believe data stored abroad can do you alot less harm than data stored in the country you live in.
