Re: Some urgent help needed in audacity

Hi folks, apologies if this is a rather obvious question, but I tried installing Dear VR Micro to be able to simulate 3D audio, and I’m having some trouble with using it. I’ve ran the provided .exe file, installed the thing, cracked open Audacity, and realized that I’ve got no clue how the plugin is meant to work with Audacity. To clarify, I didn’t see the plugin appear in either the enabled effects list, or the menu to enable new plugins. The Manual for the plugin just instructs to run the EXE file, and then you’ll be able to apply VR micro’s effects. Is it a case that the plugin just can’t be used with Audacity, or am I just not getting how this is meant to work?

Firstly, several responses.1. My response was not at all harsh, neither did I say anything bad about your Grandmother. Second, I respect everyon'es beliefs. Third, and this is a clarification, I'm not trying to convert anyone, because it's honestly not my job to do that.GCW I an not a fanatic - we all have the right to our own beliefs so where's the problem? The fact of the matter is we are all going to be tested by Allah whether we like it or not. Whatsoever Allah does is correct because he is perfect in his essence and attributes. Just look at how kind he is to you, he enables you to use your hands to type, your legs to walk, your brain to think. Look at how he provides for the birds and everything in the heavens and the earth. We have to accept that when it comes to the wisdom of Allah, our knowledge is not even as much as a bird dipping its beak into the water. You should always remember that there are people suffering even worse than your Grandmother. I recently lost my Grandfather, but I do feel comfort in the fact that Allah decreed the best for him.  And perhaps your Grandmother might recover, Allah only knows, and she might be a much stronger person! Re: I am affronted by the presence of god

So, oddly enough I had a conversation yesterday with a friend about a similar topic. I wasn't thinking of this thread when this came up btw, but after the conversation my mind did jump back here and made me think of GCW's grandma. The person I was talking to is at least somewhat religious. I don't know her well enough to know exactly how she practices, but I know she feels God is very important and worship is a big part of her life. I didn't outright come out and say I don't believe in such a thing, though I'm sure by the way I have spoken in the past, or how I didn't respond to her comments about worship, she could figure my stance out.Anyway, she told me that she believes life is fair, you just have to understand the purpose of events and adjust your thoughts. Which goes against all of my beliefs. Life had a nasty way of being unpredictable, and i don't believe we as human beings should have our powers of interpretation stretched to such a  degree that we justify anything cruel that is out of our hands, in the name of faith. For me, a death is always cruel, whether committed by murder or by natural cause. Even predictable death has an element of unfairness to it for those who are close to the deceased. An example of my feelings on the matter: A few years ago we had to put down a lovely dog we had. Not because he was dying, but because his back was irreparably out of whack and couldn't be fixed. As a result, he could barely walk. Our vet was surprised he was able to remain on his feet for as long as he had. It would've cost thousands of dollars to attempt major back surgery, and since he was so old, it just wasn't worth it (he was 15 or 16). So, he lived a good life, and we didn't think it was worth having him suffer through the remainder of it.Now, I'm not a big dog person, but I do respect animal lives, and for a while, I couldn't get past the fact that this of all things was what had to kill him. He was healthy otherwise; had his back been better, he would've still been running around, barking way too much at the neighbor's dogs and generally being annoying, but that's what made him who he was. Maybe i'm being optimistic, but until the very end, I feel like he had the desire to be his old self. He still had some drive left. During the last weeks of his life though, he could hardly walk. He'd still bark halfheartedly when he heard other dogs, but he couldn't run and provoke them like he usually did. Therefore I thought the decision to put him down was a bit premature; I didn't think the dog was quite ready yet. But my mom saw more than I did, so maybe she could see he was giving up. I wasn't there when he was put down, but apparently my mom could tell that he somehow knew his death was coming, and he seemed ready for it. So, maybe he had given up after all but was just being a trooper. It wouldn't have surprised me.For a while, I felt like we gave up on the animal more than it gave up on us. I mean in the end it probably doesn't matter, his life would either have been cut short by something else eventually, probably sooner rather than later. And it's very possible that if we had waited a week or two, he would've given up on his own anyway. That in fact was very likely, given how quickly his ability to walk had deteriorated. These facts helped me accept the decision when it was made, but it did bother me that his death was deliberate. The strange part of this is that deliberately inducing death wasn't what bothered me most at the time. That's only part of it. What was hardest for me to take was that his life was cut short by a non-lethal issue. I suppose that's because I have a selfish curiosity. When people or animals die, I want to know the cause of death, because I like medical knowledge, and am a bit morbid sometimes. So, if he died of heart complications, I would've been satisfied. If he had given up and stopped eating, I would've said "Sure, makes sense." But a bad back? That doesn't kill, it doesn't make sense medically. It only makes sense if you put the emotional element in there, the thing that activates our compassion and sympathies. Maybe it's an autism thing, but as much as I'm able to understand the deciion and agree with it, there's still some sort of gap in there I have to step over in order to get firm footing if that makes sense. I haven't quite worded it like that before, but I'm also a little more confident at the keyboard than I am speaking, so yeah. I imagine most people will find me at least a little strange for thinking of it that way, if not heartless. In the case of GCW's grandma, it's different. Not only is she mercilessly left hanging on through pain, but her mind is even caught halfway between being able to or not being able to decide if she's ready for death. The flip side of this, though, is that intervention or not, she will eventually die of her ailments. Dimentia and cancer are both ruthless killers and one will eventually

Just to needlessly repeat what's already been said, I think the caution was a bit heavy handed as the result of a misunderstanding. Should the post have been made, probably not. The purpose wasn't to mock the dev though. It was just a comment on how topics centered around this developer have the tendency to turn dramatic. I guess it wasn't clear from the post alone, but later posts add clerity. (like post 16)

Re: code 7

1. As seb2314 already mentioned, you can't. I tried NVSAPI with it, that add-on that allows you to use NVDA in programs that use SAPI, but the experience was terrible.2. Hopefully, Seb's method worked. There is no ReadMe, true, but you can at least find the instructions in one of the files of my tips folder (in the signature), which also has a link to an article explaining how to modify the registry to make some more SAPI voices available. For some reason, Windows makes a difference between 32-bit and 64-bit ones, so for example eSpeak is not available for Code 7 by default. RH Voice is, if that helps.3. Wait, it tells you to press return? It should tell you to press tab. Press tab to move between available options, return to confirm. You can also type in the first letter, and it should autocomplete it for you.4. The Code 7 Discord server has spoiler channels for discussing the story, as well as a gameplay one for people that are stuck and need hints. It isn't extremely active, as only so much can be said about the game. But every so often, a lively discussion starts; especially in Episode 3's spoiler channel. If you mean you are worried people there will be like "Nah, we aren't telling you, try harder!", that won't be the case. The developers and community are pretty friendly. And ... let's be honest, I'll probably catch any questions myself before they can get to them ... sorry for the inconvenience! 5. Yes, it does. All the Man In The Middle attacks, all the stealth sections, and something else you'll be able to do later on (spoilers!). They definitely remove from the feel of the game a bit, and especially in later episodes, they mean some optional dialog is skipped. The developers promised to work on the accessibility after Episode 4 was released, but given their recent blog post about how the development was (or wasn't) going, I'm not sure how much energy/desire they will have for that. But the reason I had to make a tips folder in the first place is because there are, especially in later episodes, still some puzzles in the game that can be pretty tough. If you find the game too easy now, wait for the Muffin levels; trust me, you'll love them!6. The game autosaves. Generally it does so whenever you move rooms, whenever you move to a different computer in the network, and before an important scene begins. If you listen carefully enough after moving, you might be able to hear a quiet voice saying "game saved". So if you close the game and continue later, your progress should still be there.Oh, and since you're here already, I sent you a PM. It isn't super important admittedly, but just an FYI.

Maybe you weren't meaning to mock someone. But, to be honest, I kind of thought the same when I read the first post. The difference is that I didn't *say* it. You don't need to post every thought you have into some random internet forum--at least, not without thinking it through first. And, FWIW, I'm glad to see this topic headed in the right direction as well. If you don't like the game, a brief explanation why is sufficient. Let's not turn this into another "let's psychoanalyze someone through their games" thread, OK? I'm sick of seeing those, and feel like I've already commented similarly in several of the last few. This is a great way to cut bad behavior off at the pass.

Re: I'd like to work with loops in Logic/GB but my eyes are broken

I typically place my play head where I want my loop, region, or audio to start and just paste it right there with command V. You can copy audio from finder, loops from the loops browser (accessed by pressing o) and midi and audio regions within tracks. When you copy and paste audio loops garageband or logic should create a new track for them and you should be able to work with it just as you would any other.

Re: Good, easy to use, blog software recommendations?

Jekyll, Nikola, Hugo are all fine.  You might have to switch the themes around to find an accessible one.  My blog is nickola but if I did it again I'd go with Jekyll probably.  All CLI tools, you run a command then upload the files somewhere however you want to upload the files.Advertising VI accessibility doesn't matter.  Most static site generators are accessible enough because it's a static site and uses a minimum of JS.  You almost always get headings etc.Only thing you don't get easily is comments.  Search, RSS, all that are out of the box.  Comments require a proper backend though.  There's usually options but it'll mean running another piece.

If you’re interested, riviera is also a game based on norse mithology. The game’s navigation is simple, because you basically moving from one screen to another instead of walking around dungeons and towns. The only problem for us is the battle system.Unlike other turn-based RPG’s, the battle system uses an item durability system, which if you use an item a certain number of time, the item in question is gone. I recommend you to use an emulator and an OCR to make gameplay a lot easier

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

I believe this question was already asked once or twice, and the answer was no?  And I could see why,  you would not only have to keep up with transformations from the previous game, but transformations from this one as well. Also, there are the new items, But I am sure we can just put the item guide into that slot.  Maybe I will make a guide of what transforms into what and how to get it, but mostly for the new manamon, if you want to look for transformations for old ones, I’m pretty sure the guide could cover you there.  Also, gunk element, chlorophyll element, I wonder who those work on? You would think a plant type  would work with chlorophyll.  And gunk would be poison, but who knows. And from the other new transformations, giving some of these creatures equipments pretty interesting. Reminds me of the Pokémon games were you give something in item and then you level it up.  Anyway, I think that is all I’m going to put for now.

Evening all, firstly, thank you Jade for your manamon One guide, don’t think I would’ve gotten through the main story without you. My team was actually very good used a combination of steel fighting plant earth water dragon holy shadow and ice. The holy type was originally part sound but I traded it for the holy fighting one later on.  Reason for that was because the holy and sound type was getting whacked by and dead. I hear it’s better in this version, but I’m not going to use it because I want new man I’m on to shine. So now I am using a team of stone dragon, water holy, flame earth, going to go bug steel for my fourth, and undead ice or air ice for my fifth.  And the final team slot is a electric/fighting type, the evolution of electrist, the final stage of it, walking transformation? I wanted a face from the old game, but I didn’t want any of my manamon from the last game. If that makes any sense.  Only reason why this one made it into the game, and none of the other faces from the original Manamon are returning, is because of that new walking transformation.  Oh, I forgot, the last member on my team in the first game was the electric magic type.  Actually pretty happy with the fighting and steel type and the electric magic type, because both of those creatures took down the shadow dragon God form, and those two were the only survivors of that.  So I wonder which members of my new team would survive last resort protocol. :-) I can only imagine how it will be this time.  Oh, and some other cool stuff behind the electric fighting type, it was imported as a baby from the first game, and then trade it over to my current save file, thanks to a friend.  Pretty happy with it so far, it was actually the child of one that I caught in the tower place that explodes in the first game.  I will not go into the stats on it, but it is satisfactory to me. Which means it is very good, I have high standards whenever it comes to my team.  Anyway, I guess it is off to struggle cave, wish me luck. LOL.

LOL.

Also, if you've never messed with UART before, just don't. Do, not. You will probably connect the wrong wires and fry the board, or the router, or the, something.

Re: code 7

I'm bringing this topic back up, since it seems to be one place where people ask questions about this game.I played episode 0 a few years back, watched pieces of Liam's stream and decided to take the plunge and get into this game, since the snips of the story I saw were very intriguing. However, I have several questions.1. Dear god, is there any way to use NVDA over SAPI? SAPI is infamous, absolutely infamous, for mangling the living hell out of in-game text. It's readable, but it's annoying. Would much rather hear NVDA/eloquence do this. I can live with it if I must, mind you.2. Pursuant to point 1, is there any way to speed up the speech? It's very, very slow, and there appears to be no readme or documentation on this.3. Can someone clarify how you're supposed to access stored information? For instance, I'm trying to log onto Compt, I have a list of usernames, yet hitting return (the way the game tells you to) seems to dump me back a screen without doing anything. I've been monkeying with this game for half an hour, and already I am starting to grow frustrated at the interface. Once I get used to it - since I know it does work - I'm sure I'll be fine, but right now I'm really regretting my thirty bucks.4. If there is a place where hints/general game talk is encouraged, is it worth going there for further questions? I am the "explore everything, try everything" sort of player, so I don't expect to ever get completely stonewalled, but still.5. Does this game still have several puzzles where if you're playing in blind-friendly mode, the game will just take over and solve them? If so, how much of the gameplay do they actually make up?6. Again, because there is no documentation, how the heck do you save and resume? I really don't want to have to do the same parts of the game over and over successfully just because I get frustrated and drop it.I appreciate any help I might receive for these questions. This game really grabbed me with its atmosphere, but I'm hoping the hiccups I've experienced don't end up being reflective of the overall gameplay for me.

Re: Accessible games dealing with norse mythology

The whole game is based on Norse mythology. The first one is just the most obvious because the main character is a valkyrie. But everyone has a bit of norse mythology in their story somewhere. I definitely recommend it if you want a rich story that's in a game that's not fighting. It's a remake of an older game, and the accessibility isn't as good as 13 Sentinels. But it's good enough that it's a very fitting candidate for playable games outside of the fighting game genre that have a decent story.

Re: Console opinion

All fair points, and it's up to the individual. There just aren't enough exclusives on xbox right now to catch my attention, and there weren't on the xbox1 either. The only one that seriously caught my attention was Killer Instinct, which is now on PC. And as of yet, I don't know of any game that's used the screen readers on either consoles as their main means of accessibility. But I personally won't get both until such time as I see a good reason to.As for Nintendo, I'm in complete agreement here, but it seems like they just haven't seen the need to care yet and never really have. So until they do, they won't be geting any of my money which is, I know, kind of circular since that won't be any encouragement to pay more attention, either. But I've always been happy with one console anyway, and now that I have a gaming PC that can handle most odern games, I don't really have a particular reason to get an xbox. My ps4 library, however, definitely gives me reason to buy a ps5. lol

I looked at the game abit and only the first story seams to have a nordic touch to it.Greetings Moritz.

Re: Android emulator

I don't think there are any "accessible" android emulators perse, but that may partially be due to the fact they don't come with the Android Accessibility Suite pre-installed, which could be due to copyright issues. What you'd need to do is download your emulator of choice, then load in the Accessibility Suite APK file manually, you can find it [here], among other places.

Re: Console opinion

I personally will get both consoles in the future, because some games will inevitably be XBox or PS exclusive, and that way I'll be able to play them no matter which exclusive console they're for.  While I agree that the games might be also available on PC in the future, you run the risk that accessibility features built into the console versions of games won't be added to the PC version.  (Madden is a prime example of this).  Add to that the fact that with Windows there are multiple screen readers that approach accessibility in different ways, and it makes it much messier for developers to add support, whereas with the consoles, they can add support for the screen reader built into the operating system. I've got a PC that can handle games, and if one comes out that's playable on PC, great.  But I like the freedom that having both consoles affords me.As for the switch, I don't have a problem using a console without a screen reader.  I did it as a child, owning the NES, SNES, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, an Atari, a Genesis, and a couple of others as a young adult.   but by the same token, having screen reader access is a huge help, and I also feel that Nintendo should catch up with their competitors that have actually begun to view accessibility in a better light.  The mentality of, "fuck you and fuck accessibility" just doesn't fly anymore, and I'm not particularly interested in rewarding that attitude, especially because that attitude will inevitably trickle down to the developers of games for that platform.  If companies like MS and Sony embrace accessibility, then it stands to reason that over time, developers of games for those platforms will begin to as well.  We're starting to see that in titles for Xbox and PS now.  Just to name a couple, Madden, TLU2, and from what I understand, Ubisoft has begun to look at accessibility seriously.  I can't help but feel that Nintendo's refusal to even consider accessibility makes it much less likely that developers for their platform will ever consider it in their games, especially since they don't have any type of foundation to work from the way that MS and Sony game developers do.  That mindset is not one that I am willing to foster.

The mentality of, "fuck you and fuck accessibility" just doesn't fly anymore, and I'm not particularly interested in rewarding that attitude, especially because that attitude will trickle down to the developers of games for that platform.  If a company like MS and Sony embrace accessibility, then it stands to reason that over time, developers of games for those platforms will begin to as well.  We're starting to see that in titles for Xbox and PS now.  Just to name a couple, Madden, TLU2, and from what I understand, Ubisoft has begun to look at accessibility seriously.  I can't help but feel that Nintendo's refusal to even consider accessibility makes it much less likely that developers for their platform will consider it in their games.  That mindset is not one that I am willing to foster.

@haily_merry,To be honest, as far as writing a blog, Wordpress may be your best bet.You could try something like GatsbyJS, but you would probably want to find a blog specific starter, if you plan to use that option. Drupal, I guess, could be an option, but seeming as they toutbeing primarily for forums, that may not work too well.As far as getting rid of bloat in Wordpress, here is an artical on how to do so,https://www.dgtlnk.com/blog/wordpress-bloat/And another, from a different place I trust for info like this, hopefully including title as a heading. Why bloated WordPress themes are a serious problem for youThe link is,https://www.roughpixels.com/quick-tips/ … ss-themes/Gatsby JS Link:https://www.gatsbyjs.com/Hugo site generator, though they don't advertise accessibility for the VI community like Gatsby doesLink:https://gohugo.io/I know my post is long and probably looks a mess, but I hope it helps nonetheless,

Re: The Adventure to Fate trilogy thread

So, how weapons and equipment works in the adventure to fate games is based on weight. In the equipment stats screen, where you can read the stats of the gear, it says light, medium or heavy. As a general rule, magic classes, wizards, clerics and illusionists use light equipment. Anything that says type rec light is usable by them. They can't use medium or heavy gear. Rogues, monks and druids can use medium gear. And knights, and paladins can use heavy gear. as a side note, Knights and paladins can use all types of gear but only heavy gear provides the most benifit. For adventure to fate 3, cultists, and priestesses can use light gear, rangers, assassins, mutants and arcane archers can all use medium gear, while mercenaries and time guardians can use heavy gear.

Actually, Glorantha borrows from a number of mythologies, Norse being only one. There are quite a few games influenced by Norse mythology, just not a lot of accessible ones.

Odin Sphere: Liefthrasir, which mr.brunete has completed totally blind. God of War is also about Greek mythology. Odin Sphere is more of a fantacy world inspired by Norse Mythology, not exactly about it. But it borrows very heavily.

Re: I am affronted by the presence of god

@145For what it's worth I don't "accept science" in that way, nor do most other actual atheists.  Science doesn't have the answers yet.  It probably will eventually, but until then I don't go seek religious explanations because every time religion has come into contact with science, science has won.  For the really big questions--do we have a soul--there's very compelling concrete evidence otherwise.  But for all the stuff we don't know, reputable scientists will just say "we don't know yet".  To use your language, "believing science" is merely requiring actual proof for things rather than just taking whoever's word for it, not making up answers from nowhere to fill holes, and producing experimental results that can be reliably reproduced.Don't lump scientists and people who understand science in with the covid-19 zealot crowd.  Most of us hate Fauci for deciding to play politics with the science for the sake of getting people to comply with things like mask mandates, for one thing.  He could have told the truth and still had people complying, and all the back and forth wouldn't have eroded the credibility of everyone involved.  And don't even get me started on how we could have had vaccines in 2 months if people had bothered to get out of the way and stop riding the ethics high horse (I will scream challenge trials until the end of time at this point, but no one will ever listen). But to circle back to my "you're probably born an atheist" point: you just treated science like a religion.  Atheism is a lack of belief, not a belief in something else.  Almost no one is able to understand how someone can just not believe in things.  It's very easy to say "some people don't believe in things unless there's evidence" and know that to be true, but quite another thing to understand it when you say it.What we miss out on is false comfort.  It's false comfort that's as good as true comfort because if you make up reasons you have to have a soul and all these other capacities that are somehow unique to humans because humans are special and you have the ability to maintain that belief, then you get to have a higher purpose and stuff like that, and death isn't the end and so on.  But to the atheist, to the scientists, it matters that the things we believe actually be true and not just pulled out of the air.  Once you care about truth--not "we all have different truths" truth but actual "someone has to be right because it's either yes or no to these questions" truth--you can no longer maintain those constructs.  It's a really strong placebo effect: like if you could believe in the fire when you're cold, and somehow that keeps you warm, but only until you notice that the fire doesn't exist, at which point you can't ever un-notice that the fire doesn't exist anymore.

Most gaming mice have a dedicated DPI button. I have a Logitech G700s, and it has one that allows you to cycle through 5 different DPI settings.  The G-Hub software really sucks honestly. I'm just lucky enough to have the G700s mouse with that DPI button, and the G710 keyboard, which allows me to set macros with out actually going into the G-Hub software.
