Accessible readable diagrams

Hi everyone, can anyone give me some insight on how to make UML diagrams blind friendly to read?  I've only seen options on how to generate them for sighted people to read. Does anyone know of existing software or options that could be used to get around this? Also, how accessible are diagrams made in power point as components, not as pictures, assuming that each component has alt text or actual text? This info will be helpful in both potentially updating the interview process to be more blind accessible, and also help with better supporting existing totally blind employees. Thanks!Karen StevensEA Sports Accessibility Lead

Accessible readable diagrams

Hi everyone, I'm working with human resources to make EA's interview process more blind friendly. One issue I'm not yet sure how to get around is how to make UML type diagrams that are blind-friendly to read. I've only seen options on how to generate them for sighted people to read. Does anyone know of existing software or options that could be used to get around this? Also, how accessible are diagrams made in power point as components, not as pictures, assuming that each component has alt text or actual text? Thanks!Karen StevensEA Sports Accessibility Lead

Question on how to navigate C++ files with narration

Question on how to navigate C++ files with narration

Hi, I work with a fantastic newly totally blind C++ engineer who needs to be able to quickly navigate between things like functions in a c++ file. Right now he's using Visual Studio with NVDA and is listening to files in their entirety to try to find methods. Can anyone give him tips and tricks, or point us to resources, on how he can navigate files efficiently? We can invest in a different editor if that helps, but Visual Studio is preferred. He has a license to jaws, but his experience is primarily NVDA. Thank you so much for any tips that I can share with him.Karen StevensEA Sports Accessibility Lead

Re: mobile game development

@magurp244 Apologies for the side topic, but I just noticed the image and model viewing software in your signature, and looked at the documentation on their websites. How well do these work for you? Unfortunately I'm nearly deaf, so can't really try it out myself. - Karen Stevens

mobile game development

Hi everyone, I'm interested in learning more about accessible mobile design. I'm reading through info online, but any suggestions, recommendations, examples, best practices, etc that you have links to would be deeply appreciated. My background is mostly pc/console, so I'm still trying to get a feel on how to best deal with touch screens. As always, my research is not a promise that anything will happen. Thanks,Karen StevensEA Sports Accessibility Lead

accessible data tree format

I just had a friend ask me the following. Does anyone here have suggestions?Anyone have thoughts on how to represent search trees in a decently accessible text format? I’ve got a blind student in my data structures class, and we’re starting with tree rotation and balancing.

Re: Identifying possible console audible indicators

Wouldn't it be confusing if the buttons were said in words, and overlap? Also, they are time sensitive, and it takes a bit to say "triangle".Mods, would it be possible to move this thread to general discussion? Ian had a good point offline that this is more of a general topic than a coding topic.

Identifying possible console audible indicators

Identifying possible console audible indicators

Hi, this is a tech tangent to the Madden thread I started http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.p … 91=4I'm trying to figure out how to make console games more accessible, and this would like to discuss options on how to handle sticks and button presses, especially button presses like quick time events.I had a musician coworker suggested using the "rule of 4ths" to make tones that can be distinguished when they overlap. It would be the following notes:C F B-flat E-flat A-flat D-flat G-flat B E A D GThe sequence repeats itself for higher/lower octaves. So, assuming an Xbox controller, and using X Y A B buttons that have icons that appear at different times, each one would be assigned to its own note. Surround sound can be used to indicate which side of the screen the icon appeared. The notes may or may not overlap.Would that work as a way to distinguish multiple overlapping events?
