Hi!As far as I am aware, nobody is being "screwed out of their money," as it was so elegantly phrased. There's a trial period after all.There is another kind of danger, however. Out of the spectrum of all available games, Apple has selected a subset which is not accessible. Now, if Joe Blow had made such a selection it wouldn't amount to much, but when Apple does so, they are invoking the normative power of the factual. Implicitly, they have now defined the field of computer games as one to which accessibility does not apply to the same degree as to other fields. For us gamers with disabilities, this is tragic.

The great news is that this game is already so close to being playable. What we need is an eyes-free mode that does the following, in that order of priority:1. Announce when the player avatar is near enough to something that can be interacted with.2. Reward successful movement with a footstep sound, or alternatively, respond to failed movement with a bump sound. This way we know if our arrowing actually does something.3. Have a "look" feature which takes a direction as parameter and announces type and distance of closest object in that direction, such as "wall in five steps."4. Announce the result of interaction.That's probably enough to make things possible for us without frustration, except of course for the kind of frustration which is part of learning to code. To make them really delightful, we'll need some more syntactic sugar, so to speak, but that's the second step.

Wow! This looks extremely promising!I'm running into the same navigation problem though. I'm told I need to find pods on the right side of the screen but I can't seem to find my way to them. The only object I keep running into is the navigation system, which is still offline.Twilio seems to be specializing in communication APIs, and they are producing TwilioQuest as a gamified learning platform for programming in general, and especially for using their interfaces. I love the idea.

Hi Targor,nice nickname, sort of otherlandish.I know exactly what you're talking about. It's the minimalism born out of severe memory constraints that became the hallmark of Scott's classic adventures.His more contemporary titles, namely Return To Pirate's Island II and The Inheritance, do not suffer from these constraints, and the parser does rank up there with Infocom's although it takes a completely different approach, being based on liberal pattern matching rather than strict formal grammar rules. You just can't compare them directly, except maybe to mention that Scott's is more error-tolerant and slightly less predictable. Here's the good news: He's still around, and he's still making games.His most recent release, produced by his new company Clopas LLC, is a Conversational Adventure™ game named Escape The Gloomer. The action takes place in the Redwall universe, and the Alexa version, currently only available in the US, is fully accessible for blind players.Right now, the Clopas team is working on a remake of the classic Adventureland, which was the first commercial adventure game authored by Scott. Don't be fooled by the word "remake" however: While the locations and objects of Adventureland are serving as inspiration, the experience will be vastly different from, and technologically far superior to, the venerable original from the late seventies. I am using Windows 10, so this might be why I am running into problems. It's a pity, as I like the atmosphere a lot.It's confusing to me why Windows 10 compatibility could not be achieved for this title. Gameplay is so simplistic that it should impose no constraints upon the technologies used, and for a commercial title, compatibility with contemporary platforms is mandatory.Don't get me wrong, I do not mean simplistic in a negative sense. Hi Staindaddict,maybe your virtual machine, guest, doesn't see the cd at all. Maybe you are indeed feeding it only to your real, host, version of Windows.I know next to nothing about Virtual Box, but for your idea to work it must be configured so that when you insert a cd into your drive, it is presented to the guest as a cd. In other words, the virtual machine must have access to your real cd drive.Also, for you to be able to interact with the virtual machine, it must be running its own screen reader. That's how perfect the simulation is. It's indeed another pc, even though its hardware is mapped to, and realized by, your host's hardware. Have you taken that into account?For example, I have a virtual Windows XP machine here which runs NVDA. I use it to run programs which won't run on my Windows 10, which runs its own NVDA. Hi!@Jyro why not just tell everyone that some bugs have been unexpectedly found, you don't know how long it will take to fix them, and kindly ask for everyone's patience. This community is grown up enough to then have understanding, and when the game in the end is worth the waiting, everyone will live happily everafter.Going on as right now will only make people upset, and it has other consequences as well. For example, it's the only reason I haven't pre-ordered yet. And there are about twenty people I know who would love to play this game and would probably order it but I haven't told them about it because I don't want them to get upset and blame me for recommending it.You see, these things do have consequences, and they directly translate to fewer purchases. Not because anyone out there is evil but because that's the way humans work and think and play.End of preaching.

In fact, the source of most anxiety in this world is the thought pattern that something absolutely must, or must not, happen. This world is more complex than that.Second, if the game's quality and scope are as announced, is it really not worth waiting for another week, or even another month?And third, yes, missed estimated release dates may drive away a few customers, but too many complaints and judgments, especially name calling, can also drive away developers. We have seen it happen, and I think we'd all be sad to see it happen again.If I were a game developer in the final stages of releasing something big, and people would start publicly stating that maybe there isn't a game at all, my motivation would be zero, yes, zero. Hi,playing in groups is so much an integral part of [[wow]] that this project definitely has its place and can provide a lot of fun to a lot of people. Combat is pretty much determined by where you stand in relation to the group formation and what spells you cast at what time, so a blind player can be a valuable resource to a group and enjoy every bit of the ride. The help relation is mutual here.
