Re: The Death of Thomas Ward

I'm so shocked and so sad.  He was one of those amazing people I never knew but wished I had.  38 is cruelly young to be taken.  Rest in peace, Tom.  In the words of a song: "Go on and show all those stars what it means to shine."  And today my thoughts are with his family and those close to him who have to find the strength to go forward.

@Sebby no problem.  @Aaron that's what we call them at the moment so the name is at least known by some.  I want to get the new fantasy game we're about to do well in development, then I will start having a very serious look into this.Have a great day everyone.

Re: jaws leesey games

Hi.  Some very interesting posts here since I last looked.  @pitermach I like this idea and I see its potential, also we could get the infrastructure to make it work.  There are huge, huge hurdles, the NVDA question not the least of them.  If not us, then someone could certainly do something of this kind.@aaron, thanks for what you said in your latest.  @Jack, you talk a heck of a lot of sense from the little I've seen of you. The only other thing to say is that I don't have a closed mind or think I'm always right.  I'm not that arrogant.  Some of these posts have been hard to read but it's made me think.  There will always be people who think we're "Bad for the audiogames market".  There will, I hope, always be people who love our games.  There will be those who want the envelope p
ushed.  And if it's pushable, we'll push it.Peace, out.

Re: jaws leesey games

In the best of all possible worlds, developers would not put months of time, sweat, effort and money into developing a game only to see it thoroughly trashed and freely cracked, and to see so little return for their work in some cases that they give up audio game development altogether. As you say, not a perfect world, but that is a whole other story.  As I said, the games market as a whole, from what I know of it, is what the present decision was based on and also, prior to this discussion we were completely unaware of any interest outside our customer base.To further explain, the Leasey Games module started as one small part of a product which has many components.  We obtained licensed permission for the owners to run games as part of the module which are available elsewhere for the convenience of Leasey owners.  Added to this we put in a single simple a
rcade game, just to see how it would go down. We then received many requests from customers to develop further games for the module, the kind of games which cannot be found elsewhere, together with suggestions as to what people wanted to play. We got asked for more games, we were able, fortunately, to make them.  We hope to go on doing so.  If, taking everything I put into my previous post into consideration, a stand alone module of our exclusive games would make enough sales to be doable, then one would be made available.Have a great day everyone.

Re: jaws leesey games

Hi to all.Having kept a weather eye on this thread over the last couple of days there are a few points which I think need clearing up.  First, I am not unsympathetic to those who feel frustrated at not being able to get their hands on games they want to play.  In the past I've often been in a similar position, watching my sighted siblings and friends play games I haven't a hope of ever being able to play, or even blind friends playing on video game consoles I could not afford or master. But we are a tiny company, doing the best we can to make good quality, salable products so that we can, as @nocturnus said, live our life.  If our products don't sell  then we fold, and there won't be any Leasey games for anyone at all because I design them, I don't code, the work has to be paid for. No one would win.  What you think of our products or our prices is a matter of your personal choice, I totally respect everyone's right to
their own opinion, but please believe me when I repeat that being unfair to anyone or ripping people off is the last thing we'd want to do.Having that said, to deal with the matter of a stand alone games module.  Apart from an extremely unpleasant Email which you know about, and this forum thread, the matter of a stand alone games module has not been mentioned to us by anyone at all.  To provide one would, as someone has shrewdly stated, be no small undertaking.  The module would have to make enough money to compensate for the loss of exclusivity which means we would have to charge a reasonable price, then the people who seem to hate everything we do purely on principal will still scream about our products being too expensive.I'm certainly not saying that a stand alone Leasey Games module will never happen.  Our list of exclusive games is growing all the time, in fact our most ambitious project yet has just been put into development.
I am saying we really need to be sure the market for it is there, and right now it doesn't seem that way to us.  If you want to prove me wrong then please do get in touch. Finally, I've seen some great and very fair-minded posts on this thread.  Thanks so much for those. Have a great rest of the day everyone.

Re: jaws leesey games

Hi to all.I'm head of game design at Hartgen Consultancy.  I'm very sorry if anyone feels it is unfair that we are making a product more salable by adding exclusive features that cannot be found anywhere else as this is a common practice found in many other programs and indeed products the world over.  It has certainly never been our intention to "Gouge prices" or to "Rip off" anyone.I would like to clarify two points which have been raised on this forum. First, karate25, the Leasey games module comes as a part of your Leasey purchase, there is no more to pay, this is applicable whether you choose to purchase a full licence or whether you go with the Leasey plan.Secondly, it is inaccurate to say that Leasey costs more than 600 dollars.  The price of Leasey total package is $209, and for Leasey advanced, which is the one most advanced Jaws users would need,  it is $139.  Either of these products is availabl
e on a timed licence for as little as $14 a month.  I am not trying to be pushy about our products here, just giving you accurate facts. Have a great day everyone.
