Re: Steam games that are reasonably accessible

@6 Off topic but I have to point this out. A lot has changed in the few short months since I bought sequence storm. There are now accessible alternatives for many more things. Sounds for opponent's racers that pan relatively, music following where the center of the track is to help with turns, narrations for your standing relative to other racers, a radar to tell you when things are in front of you and lots more. I personally prefer audio cues 2 mode which plays every note one beat before you drive over it. This removes the rhythm rage on steroids aspect another poster referred to and much more closely emulates the default visual experience. I would definitely go give this another try as the developer was and continues to be very active, helpful and open to suggestions on how to make his project accessible.

Re: Steam games that are reasonably accessible

I can see how you'd say that's totally useless, but OCR works fine for me, and when I click on the library or store tabs it drops me in a messy but totally usable html content where OCR is not necessary. Depending on your screen resolution and the size of the window, OCR might not be able to pick up things, so try maximizing the window and trying again or turning up your display resolution if it isn't already as high as it can go, usually is but worth checking. This helps in games as well to increase OCR accuracy and reduce jumbled unreadable text.Re: accessible games, if accessible means totally playable with no workarounds required at all, there's also A Blind Legend, though you won't get much replay value out of that one. That's really all I can think of though. I get that you don't want to have to do a bunch of work to play games, and that's fair, but you're also really putting yourself in a very small and cramped box as far as variety goes, and there are quite a number of games that, with a bit of extra learning, can not only be played but excelled in. *The following is my personal opinion and if you want to disregard it fine by me but I think it's worth reading. I'm also making a general statement that applies to everyone on here and I'm not necessarily speaking directly, or only, to you, so please don't get offended by the following text or take it personally.*. Blind people, by nature, aren't able to do things that people without the disability can do. That's why it's called a disability. It disables us from doing things or requires us to do extra work to be able to do them. So if we want to do things like go to work, shop, basically anything, we have to find workarounds to do them. In rare cases we'll find something in life that's completely accessible to us, ATM machines all talk now for example which is great, but the vast majority of the time we need to bust our asses just to live. It's gotten drastically easier as time has gone on, but that's still the case for the most part. It's not fair, it sucks, but it's the way it is. Now i know what you're thinking, games aren't necessary for life, so if I don't have time to hack my way through them I won't. Yeah that's fine and totally fair. I just want people to be aware that game devs don't owe them the specks of dirt riding on their shoes, and if they want to play the highest quantity and quality of games possible, they'll have to be part of the pioneer group of blind people that helps make them accessible, or at least find a way to play them and still have fun. Lately I've been really curious about what's out there and how much is playable especially now that OCR is a thing, so I've been buying a bunch of titles, trying them, and refunding them if they don't prove to be accessible in the first two hours per steam's refund policy. It's been an enlightening experience, and one i wish more people would join me in. Again nothing personal Lucas, I just wanted to rant about that for a bit.

Below is in my opinion the superior mk information source, and the only one worth mentioning.https://www.ign.com/wikis/mortal-kombat … and_GuidesThis will give you all the stuff, even the ones locked behind things. There are a couple errors, but it's a wiki so that's to be expected. Feel free to help out where you can. I also feel pretty alone over here on pc, so anyone who wants to set up a room or do coop friend redrocket55 on steam.

Re: breaker box games is returning

I don't have much, if any, respect for a company that runs away with preorder proceeds. Fortunately for them I guess, I was so generous with the edge of winter purchase that when I finally wanted to submit a paypal dispute, the window had closed. Your welcome for getting over a year extra to release your game. A system crash is not an excuse for giving the entire community the cold shoulder and running away with a batch of preorder sales. Everything about it screams terrible business practice. I personally won't ever be purchasing from them again until I see some serious changes, namely an automated key generation system/a marked increase in team activity, as well as a complete dismissal of the vague promises/stalling, oh it'll be out in one more week etc. Good luck with the return though I guess and I look forward to seeing improvement.

Control tab should toggle to the notepad plugin where the output is printed.

Re: how accessible is MUSHclient and how can I improve the accessibility

Yes there is. Tyler spivy has created a set of plugins for mushclient that will speak the output as it appears. The easiest way to set this up is to download the following extracter, then just paste it over your existing mushclient installation.http://www.allinaccess.com/mc/mushclient-portable.exe This should work in theory, but let me know if it doesn't for whatever reason.

Re: an up to date guide on how to get started with steam

Re: an up to date guide on how to get started with steam

15: In my experience, just about everything can be used with relatively little effort, and an increasing number of functions in the client are becoming accessible to the point where OCR is not required. Unfortunately as of now, the library and settings screens still require some sort of OCR as of a few months ago when the review cursor seemed to have lost the ability to work with it, but the client absolutely can be used. The only thing I clearly recall not being able to do after fighting with it for a good long while is change my steam library path, but although this was annoying, it was easily solved by just installing the program in the place where I wanted my games. As for whether it's worth the trouble, this is obviously subjective. There are quite a number of games that simply can't be played by us as of now, but there are also a growing number that can, and win 10 OCR is a huge piece of the accessibility puzzle. the difference it made was quite shocking, and in primarily text based games like the yu-gi-oh: legacy of the dualist card game, it turned a title from a zero to a 10 on the playability scale real quick. Of course OCR is just one step on the road to mainstream accessibility, but it's a bit more of a leap in my opinion, as only a few years ago if someone told me i could install a game and read most or all of its text, I would have told them to keep dreaming up rainbows and unicorns. I digress however. IMO, it's definitely worth the trouble if you have access to OCR, as right now that's the only way I know of to click buttons in the library and settings screens. If you're not a win 10 user I admit it won't be possible to use the client at this time, though valve seems to be moving in the right direction with accessibility, so an accessible library is a real possibility in the relatively near future.20: Press control+f, for whatever reason that rescues your focus from the store :d.

Re: steam's browser is now accessible!

Hi. So yeah, steam's browser is accessible. That's a fantastic step in the right direction. What's not so fantastic however is the predicament the new update has landed me in. The store is the only thing that I can use with the steam client now. I can't figure out how to access anything other than the store screen. That's what shows up when I start the app, and that's what i always see. Someone please offer insight into what's up, because I just spent a bunch of money on new stuff for black Friday, and this nasty surprise has me all irritated at valve for the 422nd time.
