Hi!@Crashmaster did you choose yes when the game asked whether or not you would like to enable screen reader compatible mode? If not, you can still adjust this setting in the configuration dialog.With NVDA, you can use numpad 7 and numpad 9 to read the game text one paragraph at a time. Technically, what you're doing is moving the review cursor. The review cursor will usually retain its position in the text as long as you stay in the game window, but in those cases where it ends up back at the beginning, you can press shift+numpad 9 to move it all the way to the end, where the newest > prompt is.After typing your command, hit enter, and don't worry if you get no automatic feedback: you will need to use numpad 9 to advance the review cursor and read the new text. It's not at all tedious but is a great way to absorb the text in chunks.Commands are generally simple imperative sentences referring specifically to the situation at hand. Movement commands can be abbreviated though, so n corresponds to "go north" and u corresponds to "go up" etc. There are many other abbreviations: type "abbreviations" to get them listed.The game tries to make it easy to get into the format. Hi!@Dark, I'd like to point out that the Kickstarter goal of music for Thaumistry was not reached, so the game is text-only. Having completed it, I can highly recommend it to oldschool Infocom fans as well as anyone who thinks they could enjoy a gentle, high quality introduction to text adventures, also known as interactive fiction. Think of a single-player, highly quest-driven mud without stats, and with an extremely rich implementation of objects and rooms. If that sounds great then this game is for you.For Infocom fans: this is like Enchanter gone 21st century Manhattan. Sounds weird? It is. That's what's fun about it.Also, to clear up any confusion regarding screen reader compatibility: Thaumistry is NVDA-compatible already. JAWS compatibility is being worked on.Greetings,E G

Hi!It's so weird. I'm trying to like it but in this untested desolate state and with this price tag attached I can't help but feel ripped off.Why, then, am I trying to like it? Because something in the atmosphere works for me, some part of me slips into that role of being a gladiator in ancient Rome. I want to let go, enjoy full immersion, forget about the iPhone in my hands and just be that gladiator, moritorus or not, and then it crashes again and I'm just that blind guy with the cell phone who just spent $15 for what he now thinks of as way to little in return. I want it to be worth it but it isn't.Sorry.Then again, there's potential in there. You guys at IV Production could make this one really rock if you put some love into it, really became passionate about the game as a game, not just as a source of money. What an amazing depth of _expression_ and wild vividness throughout the ups and downs of it. Please tell that person she's worldclass and really had me want to protect that character.The only thing I don't like about it is the self-voicing aspect. Nonvisual access to text is associated so strongly with screen readers that this seems off. Why force new toolsets on people who spent a lot of time and effort learning their perfectly good toolsets, configuring their voices, setting pitch and speed just right, setting their shortcuts just the way they like them? My definition may be superstrict but I define an accessible application as one that works with my existing screen reader.This is my only

Hi!Just finished this one, and I must say it was a great gaming experience. Solid work of hack and slash with well-developed background story. Pity we don't get to learn more about the protagonist's crimes. The boss, in my opinion, is slightly unpredictable in an unfair way as some of his attack grunts are so short I find it practically impossible to react in time, so at some point I always end up swinging wildly in the hopes of blocking him and getting one in on him, which usually works. Maybe this is intentional. In this case it's a nice design decision as it conveys how desperate Blake is by that time.Strange how people think this boss is easy when I found him quite challenging, while on the other hand I had absolutely no trouble with the rowboat sequence and getting past the dungeon guards. It stopped being frustrating for me when I realized that losing a few lives along the way is not a sign of me making stupid mistakes but just part of the process, sometimes even part of tactics. I find myself using lives as just one more resource, sometimes deliberately sacrificing one to separate some enemies if I get overwhelmed.Also I see some levels as puzzles to solve, so I often deliberately reload to go back and find a better jumping sequence to change the distribution of enemies around me in my favor.I guess I'm just a geek.From what I can tell, almost nothing in this game is random. It's just lots and lots of interwoven patterns. O one more spoiler question folks if you don't mind:In the phase where he summons ghosts, could anyone point me in the direction of what the trick is to prevent jumping into a ghost when trying to jump over the boss? I often find myself wanting to jump over him but there are one or two ghosts right behind him. This happens when he's nearly down from what I can tell, and I am running out of arrows, so I cannot meaningfully lose a life there if his health would then reset.

This game is amazing beyond description, diabolical beyond belief, and one of its kind beyond doubt. Hi!As for Morgana, don't even try jumping over the spells. That's impossible by design. My strategy is to hit the cauldron rapidly with the knife, and when she releases a spell I jump left until I'm in front of the correct switch. I press shift+enter, wait for the spell to exhaust itself against the barrier, then quickly jump back toward the cauldron and go back to step 1.Note the spell remains effective, that is, deadly, until it hits the barrier, so don't jump too early.

Noticed the exact same thing. However, after a few seconds, it announced the game had been saved, then it continued on the next level as if I hadn't actually died.I'm now trying to get past the wind sequence without losing an extraordinary number of lives. If only I still had to face easy stuff like the Gray Lady. Thought I'd never see it that way.

There's a lot of subtle elegance in this game, such as the way the lady's voice reverberates and echoes off the walls. Defeating her made me feel really proud, by the way. For a first boss she's amazingly hard.By the way I think I found a bug. It is possible to get past the gremlin archer without defeating him, by taking the stairs when he is very far away. Then again, what he drops is pretty awesome in terms of quantity, without giving away too much. Killing him really, really pays off.My only reservation about buying it is if I'll be able to complete it if it gets even harder. For what it's worth: Just defeated the Lady on normal without losing a life. I'm so pro. lol.I should mention the ambushes on lvl 2 are fun, especially with the music going crazy. The organ is a masterpiece. The ghost ambushes, however, are downright diabolical.Having so much fun with this, think I'll buy it. One less inner conflict to resolve.

Hi!Sounds interesting. Makes me wonder, though, if we could maybe get some specs which would help us decide whether or not to buy.Here are some questions that come to mind:1. Will there be a demo at some point?2. How long does a playthrough take? I know this may be modified by skill but some average would be great.3. Is there any replay value?4. You write that it is implemented via a conversation tree. Does that mean one could brute-force his or her way through, or are there real puzzles that go beyond mechanically trying every option? It is supposed to emulate the feel of oldschool text adventures. Well in those it was possible to get stuck and the experience certainly transcended traversing conversation trees. So Im excited to know how the puzzle part factors in.5. Can progress be saved?Thanks and kind regards,EG
