jsymes, thankyou, I am always happy with feedback.  Yes I can see I overlooked the numbpad enter key.  In fact I guess I have overlooked this in every single piece of software I hav released.  I will look at this for future updates.  Technically speaking it must be a different key, smiles.  On the plus side, the numpad numbers work fine and folks are still finding this little game intriguing 6 months after release.  Just as an aside, I beat the game on stressful for the first time 2 weeks ago, may I suggest making hay while the sun shines is a smart move.Anyone who does beat the game on stressful fully deserves a fre copy.

Folks, Quacker, Badger, Sovs, E Z Kill, Tigress, Black Strike.  We have a lot in common and I trust we can agree almost all of the points raised above.  We can agree it is unsporting to disconnect both in forts and on defender missions.  We can agree it is Aprone who is best placed to decide which, if any, is exploiting a loophole and which, if any, needs a modification.  We can agree it is hypocritical to  bang on about one side, but not concede the other.  We can agree that throwing insults both on the game and on this forum, has been the cause of these fort battles.  Black Strike nailed the issue.  If you call someone a coward, be prepared to do slash forts all day.  I also hope, we can agree people play the game in different ways, and its best to respect their choices, after all it's just a game.

Good suggestion Quacker, logging off mid battle is rather unsporting.  On a similar note, you forgot to mention the players who launch defender missions and immediately disconnect, in order to quickly jump maps and avoid food losses in forts.  Perhaps you could check the user agreement for us on this one.

e-z_killer, swamp is good, but I suggest life is the logical first choice.  For example, just this morning, I had a choice to play swamp or get some jobs done.  Very glad indeed I got out into the real world.  I popped to the shops, picking up some ammo in our local KMart, a leftover pizza in the pet shop, and a handy little chainsaw from the church.  Sadly I had to kill a couple of pedestrians and a dog on the way home, but other than that it was a pleasant stroll.

Mata, as I stated - it is insane mode, and it cannot be luck that I always get 3 knights per land and neither is it luck that I win every battle.  If it were luck these things would vary.  I now have 30 lands and recruit 90 knights from the land alone.  Other knights and soldiers come from elsewhere and I can train goblins into soldiers and soldiers into knights.  In this way I have just sold 1000 knights for 250, 000 gold.  No skill required.

Loving this game, but it does have some serious balance issues.  Basically it's far too easy.  Even on insane mode, with just 2 lands I recruit 6 knights and gain 1500 gold from their sale, plus other income of course.  The palisades then go up quickly and I can afford to attack and gain 1 land every turn.  I always succeed in every attack.  In just 5 goes I have 5 lands and I am invincible, by the time I can afford any upgrades I do not need them.  The game then becomes a text adventure, an interesting adventure, but not a challenging one.

Kenshira, would you be willing to try out one of my other programs with sapi support.  Those are the rocky planets, the colour mixer and the bead brains game.  I cannot think that the standard sapi voices you have got are an issue, also I have put a fix in for possible broken sapi anyways.  If you really want to run some tests for me, you could turn off NVDA and see if it runs.  Must also say I have not tested any of my software on XP, for the only reason that none of my testers have XP.  One potential tester did have an issue with a virtual XP run on a Mac, If anyone else still running XP please let me know if this works for you.  And finally,  AudioGamer I have finally recompiled the rocky planets, bead brains and colour mixer with that sapi fix so these should now work on your windows 10 64 bit machine.

I have recently fixed the bug reported with the broken menu item, and the key repeat bug on the player name input.  Neither of these are worth folks downloading the update but just to let you know.  As mentioned earlier escape also leaves a sub menu to return to the main menu.  One thing I am concerned about is a possible intermittent score posting bug.  Has anyone had an issue of posting a score and not seeing it on the scoreboard, if so please let me know.  cheers.

Kenshira, can you tell me what system you are using, any other information such as virus checkers, whether anything on your computer is broken or other problems you have with sounds, soundcard issues, Sapi or other voices.  Are you running cheat engine or speed cheat, and do my other games work for you?  If you want to take this info to a private message please go ahead.  All I can say at the moment is that I have had over a hundred downloads in the 3 days this has been out there and you are the first to report an issue.  If I can find a fix I will.

Well I had a request for multi coloured dragons, and there's sort of white, green, red and black dragons.  Admitedly the request stated dragons you could race, sorry about that, but it is a space game and racing your own dragons is frankly one step too far.  But getting back to the central point, yes heat seaking missiles is definitely a good idea, and would be very useful against those dragon ships.  Any other suggestions for version 3 most welcome.

I used pygame, for the visuals and also for the sounds.  Pygame has some very good on line docs and tutorials.  For the screen reader support I used Accessible Output 2, however the docs for this are pretty much non existent.  I am told Piglet is a good alternative to Pygame but I have not tried it out at all.  Hope that helps in some way.

Stewie, targeting can be difficult.  I tried to balance out the need to get across the screen quickly with a small enough step to aim well.  I find a good technique is to get ahead of an alien and let it drift into the centre of your field of fire.  The sound volumes are adjusted 60 times per second, instead of once per second as in VadersV1.  Having said all that, it is still tricky when there are several ships to aim at.  My own way of dealing with this is to try to get a high accuracy with the singles and to blast away and try to survive the multiple waves.  It could be possible at some point to add a smaller increment for a single key tap or slower ship speed, perhaps on different keys.

[[wow]] Dark.  That game entry is awesome, very awesome.  Makes me want to play.  Not entirely sure I have done the ending justice.  I should point out that everyone will die at some point, the game just gets harder and harder, if you make it to the so called "death wave" you can consider you have completed the game, but then you die.  If there is ever a version3 then a story mode might be possible and an unlockable arcade mode, for those wanting a faster or longer blast on the rapid fire.  I am still very much learning the trade here, my central idea was that survival is a player's first priority, but replay value comes from getting better accuracy.  To balance out the audio gamer and the sighted gamer, I have introduced a number of invisible or black ships.  Ramble over, cheers Dark.

Firstly a big thankyou Crash, nice recording.  Heard you turn on the rapid fire and get those missiles going when it got rather hot.  Perhaps its not clear at the end of the game that you need to return to the main menu in order to post your score on line.

Another question:  Do I assume correct when d is pressed that the car travels through the square on the right and then the square in the next row, and not the other way round as in forward then to the right?  Secondly there may be a bug, sometimes I crash twice, or at least get the report twice.  Pressing w at the right point seems to jump the car over the first obstacle.

Key, nice job.  My little python script using time.sleep() only gets me up to 104.  That function is clearly not an accurate way of measuring time, even a response time of 0.02 - or 20 milliseconds is not consistent.  Perhaps I'll go back and push it further with a better way of measuring time, but it does go to show how awesome a human score of 50 is, did not think we were going to see that.

Brilliant and thank you for your patience.  this will help other folks with slightly dodgy sapi.  I am told some issues with sapi are caused with installing other voices, and sometimes the only fix is to reinstall windows, but I can neither confirm this or recommend such drastic action.  Maybe simply switching your preferred voice could work for other software that requires sapi.  I am now in the happy position of auto detecting peoples screen reader, then using sapi if no screen reader, allowing screen reader changes for folks with both, and not blowing a fuse if anything is broken.  Again, thank you.

AudioGamer, I hope this fix works, if it does by the way your Sapi is broken but your screen reader is good.  If it does not, then both are broken at your end.  I am not really fixing your issues, just working around them.  However there is much good news here, firstly this may well help other folks, secondly it will enable you to play my games and thirdly you will know why other software using sapi blows a fuse, and lastly you get to play the latest beta version of spacey vaders, with better sound panning and 5 waves of aliens.  Let me know if it works, then I can get round to updating my other releases, cheers.https://www.dropbox.com/s/8fschm6g83irr … 4.zip?dl=0

IronCross, I believe you are on the right trail.  I am working on the assumption that there was a unclean exit.  Possibly python closed without pygame closing first, which would happen if another module had the error, hence working through.  It has been suggested to me that sapi creates a good number of issues, I am hence looking at this first.  On the up side, spacey Vaders version 2 is coming along nicely.

AudioGamer is your SAPI working ok, I'm fishing here,  but I do initialise Sapi, even for folks with a screen reader.  Game of floods is text only, but perhaps try the colour mixer or bead brains or spacey vaders, all having Sapi.  If it's Sapi, I can try a fix at my end.  It may well not be Sapi of course, so if there is anything else that behaves badly on your computer, let me know, it might give me a pointer.

This program is a model of our solar system.  Primarily an educational tool, it is also fun to use.  It has low vision graphics, music, and audio output, including an audio description of the working model.  The program has screen reader support, with auto detection of an active screen reader.  The model is scientifically accurate, in that the sizes of planets, speeds of planets, and distance of orbits are all accurately scaled  relative to Earth.  As the 4 outer gas planets are much more distant and go slower than the 4 inner rocky  planets, there is a zoom out and speed up feature.  There is also an orbit tracer to track the motion of each planet.  The program comes with much information about geology, atmosphere, temperatures, moons  and myths and legends for each planet.  The music is the planet suite by Holst.  I am hoping you find this program both interesting and informative.  Available at www.rockywaters.co.ukA big thankyou to community members, Hannibal, Kane, CrashMaster, IronCrossand Buzz for testing, to Badger for sound editing and to Aprone for advice on graphics.

There is now a QuickRecorder version up on www.rockywaters.co.uk - this is a command line version specifically for developers to use during a game.  Possible use is to record some tts for directional playback in game, so a player would hear the direction and distance of another player rather than just mono "over the radio", guessing developers may well find other uses.

I am concluding that this encryption machine is safe to use, but only if you choose a strong password.  I am therefore releasing a version 2, with unlimited length of password, 24 encryption wheels instead of 12 and an optional second password that reorders the wheels.  Personally I am happy to keep all my passwords in one text file, but at some future point I intend to return to encryption and make a password keeper to conveniently store and retrieve passwords.  Thank you for taking part and please share any ideas for improvement, or tales of woe.

It can convert text from the clipboard, from the keyboard or from a whole text file. I have written version 2.  In passwordScramblerV2 there are now 24 wheels instead of 12, the master password has no limit in length, and there is an optional second password that will shuffle the 24 wheels, again no password length limit.  While this gives the user even more protection, it comes with an extra step and one more item to remember.  Any thoughts on this most welcome, not sure yet whether to release this version 2.

On a more sober note.  No one has claimed the 100$ reward, but I have received several insights.  Firstly, python being a scripting language is apparently easy to decompyle.There are some methods out there to help hide source code, all rather complicated, and none of them seem to be any guarantee.  Basically, python is not what you would use for this sort of thing.  So, don't use this for military or commercial uses, ok?  Secondly, there's always reverse engineering, which is way more powerful than I had thought.  My current take on this, is that it will eventually come down to the  strength of the password.

smoothgunner The clipboard input should handle one return or new line, whereas the file input should handle multiple carriage returns or newlines.  The codes \n and \r are for newlines and carriage returns respectively.  Sadly where I have stripped such characters out of the encryption and reinserted them later, I only took out the \n and not the \r.  It's a bug, sorry.  On the up side the program did tell you, on the downside when you unscramble your 500 page novel, it will all be on one line!  It's at this point I realise I probably need 2 or 3 testers to hammer my programs before I release them.

Rastislav.  I do not intend releasing the source code for the very reason that some folks might well be using this machine to encrypt their data.  However you have a point about developers, a modified version may well be of good practical use.  To comment on your other points, I really do not know whether it is possible to reverse engineer this machine.  The Poles were brilliant but had lots of messages and cribs to help.  On the other hand my whole machine is there to play with.  It may have weaknesses I do not know about.  For example just passing one letter through at a time gives an unnerving pattern.  However I would like to believe even with the machine itself broken, the data would still be secure with a secure password.  I honestly don't know the answer to that, but just in case, no source code.

You would not be giving this thief some hints to your master password would you?  However it is only fair that I share 2 assumptions that Aprone has suggested are reasonable:Firstly: The output phrase contains at least some recognisable English, so it's not just random but has some meaning and it's not just say a hexadecimal maths phrase such as D2 + 2D = FF.  Secondly the master password is not a single word, this would be a weak password.

[[wow]] 1 day and lots of interest and a lot of very astute observations.  I wanted to simulate the situation where you had entrusted important data to this encryption and then your computer was stolen.  Normally a hacker would not have access to the actual machine that made the code, but suppose the thief realised that you had used my encryption engine.  Suppose he also had a month to work on it before you told your bank to change your passwords.  He also has the basic description of the design of the machine from the instructions.  If this competition yields a winner from this starting point, then I need to change the machine and give less away about it's design.

Suggestion: Hope this helps in some way.  Perhaps the connection is connected to certain players levels.  Smiles.  Perhaps Aprone you could reset anyone over say level 2000 back down.  Just for testing perposes you understand, nothing personal folks.  And after a few months if the issue is fixed, then the obsessives can enjoy getting  a few more thousand levels for the fun of it.  If the issue is not fixed then I'm sure the sports would not mind taking one for the team.  Does this help in some way?

Aprone, sorry to post a negative.  Swamp is broke in so many ways.  It has been the best audio game out there and having spoken in depth many times I hope you know I am posting in hope of moving forward.  However the truth is swamp is broke.  It's a big game, it's a big project and you are just one person.  There are bugs, there are game imbalances and there are cheat issues that need addressing.  If you do not have time to fix these issues, I can understand, you have a life to live, perhaps you need to hre think about hiring another programmer or at least another game moderator.   Being one of your best fans, I have struggled over the past 6 months to say this.  It's broke.  People do 200 crate missions in 30 minutes and level like Gods and a year ago we had a debate on level caps.  A topic that needs revisiting.  Some folks waste their lives levelling like hell just to lord it over other folks and follow 
 this with so many insults, I'm actually amazed I sometimes get a decent comment from the occasional opponent.  Look at FabiG's post, a plea for common sense, you really need to keep a check on the game balance.  You also really need to police this game, there's too much abuse and there's also cheating issues that are well overdue for addressing.  If Swamp was not so good, I would simply move on, and count my time as value for money many times over.  However Swamp is still the best audio game out there and it can be fixed.  Aprone, there needs to be 2 of you, so you have the time to play and observe and to program and of course to have a real life also.  Yours truly in hope.

As my name has been mentioned, I did 2 of those raider missions with 180 raiders and 200 crates in the Strip mall.  The first was to find out how elite legion were doing them for a month back to back, and I reported the findings to Aprone.  I did the second one for fun.  As I write, Hellfier has just completed a venting tower raider mission 200 crates and Kilimir has sat on the same mission with 0 crates.  The food rewards are 73000 food each that's over 4 million XP between them.  Hellfier put on 50 levels yesterday doing similar, that's around 20 million XP in one day.  Please do not think I am accusing them of cheating, but if anyone forwards information to Aprone that leads to a ban for these players then I will pay a year's subscription to any account of their choice.

Warning to all players, map 5 safe zone is not safe.  The raiders walk about and can even shoot into the safe zone.  I have just died in this safe zone while AFK and it's probably due to raiders.

Fly by chow, my fluffy friend, with respect, some of your post is not quite right.  The lag is a bug, but the slowing effect of bumping into many zombies is to make it more of a challenge for Swamp Gods to solo 180 deathbringers.  The new player is not affected.  Other changes also, eg having armour sets spread through the maps only affects higher level players with points to stick in armour, below level 100 it's the norm to go with whatever you find.  The new player will not really see any big change at all and the rest of us will have to cope with 87% protection or a 95% with a cut in speed.  Again not a drastic big change.  Hugs to my fluff.Musicman, with all respect, how can I put this gently, your post is insane.  If Aprone reset everyone back to level 1, vast numbers would stop playing, on the basis another reset might happen again.  Again to take out so many hours programming and hard worked changes seems to contradict you

You ask for teamwork, teamwork and fail to recognise the biggest teamwork possible has now come along with PVP and the new fort system.  This is a whole new way of cooperating with other people.  Asking for less change and more ways to play the game does not add up.  Perhaps you could ask for more changes? example rewards for sniper missions, more rewards for the quick learner skill, titles for massive looters, or other alternatives to the 200 crate solo.   These changes are a step towards variety in the game, and not forcing folks to play the same way.

Aprone, the duplicate item bug with HC items has not really unbalanced the game.  Weapons are actually quite easy to find and broken items means that with a fort you will always have spares.  I do not think a reset is called for, or for that matter a complete inventory wipe.  If some folks have exploited this bug beyond repair perhaps reduce every character down to a maximum of 3 weapons of any kind, possibly a naive suggestion that would take more work than I realise.  It's probably only the clans with forts that could exploit this bug fully, perhaps check these clans out rather than disadvantage players without clans or forts.  (Some folks might even complain at losing the new armours found over the last week, smiles).  Either way you decide, as always, respect.

Aprone, I do hope you are encouraged by all the supportive posts on the pages above.  People admire what you have done.  Folks who read the change log can see how much work you have put in.Folks can understand your vision of a challenge and a choice for speed or protection, an easy or hard map, a complete set or a make do and mend set.  But most importantly there's a lot of respect out there for what you do.

Fedai, you suggested I did not work for my levels as I have not gained as many crates as Revan.  Revan is excellent at missions and I respect him for that.  Perhaps you could respect me for my strategy my teamwork and my cooperation, after all it's just a game. However I suspect your post is not about game balance at all.  Fedai, you were previously banned. I believe for cheating with illegal food and taking forts with this food. For one reason alone, which is to ruin the game for others.  Because  of your actions and others like it, we now have paid accounts,Clean up your own act before you use my name and the word injustice in the same post.  I have helped build a good team, while you have helped prevent people from playing this game. Fedai, for your information I'm not on the test server and never have been, but I do know they have put in a lot of work for everyone's benefit.  Your accusation that they are a
 sleep and not working is simply a cheap insult.  Your next post should include an apology for cheating, an apology for being instrumental in bringing in paid accounts, an apology for less people on the game and an apology for insulting people who work for nothing but the enjoyment of making a great game better for everyone else.  My praise goes to the folks who have kept positive and kept bugs in proportion and reported them to help Jeremy.  Well done testers.  very well done Aprone.

Perhaps we should ask Hard core Private DMX how he and all the other Elite Legion clan members level so quick.  He is now HC private level 153, 14 days ago he was normal private level 30 and 11 days before that he was HC level 70 but not private.  He's averaging over 20 HC levels a day at the moment and has levelled over 50 since yesterday.
