We hope everyone enjoyed our Valentine's Eve Massacre death march last month!  Our next event will be the Spring Festival.  This event will begin on Friday, March 19th and end on Monday, March 22nd.  Among other exciting event quests and activities, we'll be releasing the jungle area we used for the death march as a new level 44 group 15 zone.Here are some highlights from last month's updates:- Tuesday archery contests are now operational! Contests will be held periodically throughout the day every Tuesday.- Minor cleanup and additions to the Field of Fonts.- Being dazed/stunned now instills a penalty to dexterity.- The “value” command can now directly target objects, and it can still be used with shopkeepers as well.- Ebon adamantine is now dark adamantine, to prevent parsing conflicts with ebon mithril.- Crafting sampler lootcrates now come with a skin, hide, pelt or shell.- The ability for builders to add randomized crafting supplies to containers has been added, so you may come across stashes of hides, boards, metal ingots and more.- ‘Afflict’ now lowers spellsave for both ethereal and corporeal targets. This makes afflict more consistent and useful for making targets vulnerable to follow-up curses.- Changes to strings and the help page for bloodletting stab to reflect the fact that you can rip into enemies with your hands if you're wearing hand equipment with the right dtype.- A new spell called 'scorch' has been added to replace the fireball spell, and greater fireball has become the new fireball.- Another addition was that of entropy for a god's preferred element, which engages the poison damage type for related spells.Here are some planned updates for March:- Builders will have the capability of generating randomized areas.  This will primarily be used for events.- We’ll be adding another Thirsty Thursday task or two, including a possible bout of drunken target shooting.- Alter Aeon’s official client, the dclient, has audio stack and music fading code is in place, and we are hard at work setting up routines to handle music for players and produce a soundtrack for the game.- We’ll be will be smoothing over stone knapping code and tying it more tightly to lapidary defines. We are pleased to announce that level 39 is officially out, with a new spell or skill for each class!- Mage spell, greater ice elemental.  Ice elemental don't hit hard but are effective against enemies weak to cold.  They are capable of soaking up lots of damage and are effective tanks.- Cleric unguent, fey woe.  This mixture causes great pain to fey creatures and can be applied to iron-based weapons in order to do greater damage against fairies.- Thief skill, grenadier.  This skill makes thieves more skilled at throwing grenades, and allows them to avoid taking damage from grenade splash damage.- Warrior skill, impale.  This attack is carefully executed thrust with a stabbing weapon that can stun an opponent.- Necromancer spell, crystal skull.  These constructs can absorb incoming magical attacks and redirect that magic to heal allied undead and skeletal creatures.- Druid spell, storm of roses.  This spell causes nearby foliage to transform into thorny brambles in order to attack all enemies in the near vicinity.Additionally, the Field of Fonts and the City of Fonts special zones are open and operational.  Progress continues with several areas, including Nightmare Plane solo and group 4 areas, two new level 32 zones for western Atmir, two new level 34 zones for eastern Atmir, and three more level 38 zones for the Isle of Naginag.In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’ll be having an event on the evening of Saturday, February 13th.  We’ll also be releasing a new archery-themed weekday event around Valentine’s Day.For more information, please refer to our latest Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyG0APLsaB0

Welcome one and all to the latest monthly update for Alter Aeon!This update comes on the heels of the recently concluded Winter Solstice event.  The extravaganza provided fun and activities for players of all stripes.This month we celebrate Alter Aeon's 26th anniversary!  In honor of this, we will be raising the level cap from 38 to 39 and adding a number of new features to the game, one of which includes the Fields of Fonts, a special auto-generated area designed to provide new content for high level players.  The map generates coherently, and loads Fonts, treasures, oddball features and batches of creatures taken from encounter files. Random encounters also trigger within the Field. It is scalable, and since it uses encounters for its population, its variety can be expanded ad nauseam.  The final hurtle will be making Purnima-specific jobs functional.  We have already tested a special addition to the survey command that shows players their relative position and distance to the City of Fonts, while anywhere in the Field of Fonts.Last month we added an option to relabel bottled potions with multiple spells, a 'set autocompare' option, and personal fishing records.  We also altered crafting, gathering and mining to make them somewhat more risky around aggressive mobs.One of our next major projects will be a weekly archery tournament for Tuesdays.Other projects for the near future include expanding autogen map code for general use in events, the hunting skill, more custom gathering options, adding more runes to channel casting and setting up random crafting component drops.  Additional upcoming code changes will address some autorestore features that aren't working quite right, fixing instakill achievements once and for all, creating freak achievements for mages, introducing a color filter for people who are colorblind, and working on the siteban command.In the building department, work on finishing Nightmare Plane solo and group 4 areas continues.  We hope to have them finished soon the anniversary.  We also continue to work on the Hinterlands zone, which we hope to finish in early spring.For more information, please see our latest Youtube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WVIUvJQVnw

For the month of December, we are giving out our Advent Calendar gifts.  Log in every day to collect your daily gift!Our next game event, the annual Winter Solstice Celebration, will begin on Monday, December 21st and end on the morning of Sunday, January 3rd.  This year there will be a little something for everyone: Christmas cannons to shoot, teleporting mobs to kill, reindeer and New Year mobs to possess for pk, and the return of the Tower of Challenge and The Forest of Good Will Gathering!We added three new skills in November:- The necromancer skill 'graft undead', which allows you to add forged spikes, studs and scales to your undead constructs to improve their hitroll, damroll and armor, respectively.- The general alchemy skill 'reduce reagent', which lets you create concentrated versions of spell components to increase their level, at the cost of mass.- The haberdashery skill 'livery' which lets you create bespoke clothing of various sorts.Other recent improvements include:- Upgrades made to leathercrafted weapons to make them more viable.- ‘Enchant essence’ now works on held items.- A new crafted weapon was added: the estoc, a rare variety of two-handed rapier.- There is now a new lootcrate: the crafting sampler crate. These give one mineral, one metal bar and one piece of wood when purchased. Once hunting code is far enough along, it will also include a hide or pelt.  (More on that below.)Our previous event, Thanksgiving 2020, featured the false god of pestilence, Chalcuihtotolin, making a bid for power by unleashing plague-infested turkeys across Alter Aeon.  Players slaughtered them by the thousands, but not before avatars and later, aspects, of Chalcuihtotolin were able to manifest.  In the end, the Jeweled Turkey withdrew his influence, and is rumored to be gathering power for a future assault.For this event, disease mechanics have been added to the game.  Diseases are long-lasting and can be debilitating, but they are easily prevented and removed by spells and skills that work against poisons.In the future:- Substantial progress has been made on the encounter code, paving the way for opening the City of Fonts and the autogenerated Field of Fonts.- We have started prepping code for the hunting skill, which we hope will be finished early next year.- Archery tournaments continue to be developed as a weekly system event.- Many new areas are on their way to completion in order to be released alongside the level cap increase to 39 next January.For more information, please refer to our latest Youtube update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-XIU_KQklwHappy Holidays!

Our Halloween event may be over, but our next event is right around the corner!  We'll be having this event during the week of Thanksgiving, lasting from Wednesday, November 25th until the evening of Monday, November 30th.Throughout November, we'll be tying the loose ends of the Halloween event and preparing for the Winter Solstice event in December.  We have a couple of new skills that will be implemented soon.  We'll also be fine-tuning scribe jobs and creating a new area west of Ralnoth called The Hinterlands.Building continues in several solo and group 4 areas for the Nightmare Plane, and also we are working on high level auto-generated content called the Fields of Fonts.  These will likely be released in conjunction with the raising of the level cap to 39 next January.For more information, please refer to our latest Youtube update here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1qcUaypJJE

It is once again the season for Halloween Havoc, Alter Aeon's biggest event of the year!  We have a little bit of everything planned for this time around, with activities for players of all levels.  There will be teleporting monsters, pumpkin cannons and monster pk arena battles.  The witch bonus class will be returning this year!Halloween Havoc will begin Friday, October 30th and will end on Tuesday, November 3rd.  We will be having several level limited havoc wars on October 31st, and we'll be holding a few costume contests on November 1st.Updates from last month:- New forged jewelry was added to the game: the chain link belt and the medallion belt.- Pre-lag for flourish was lowered slightly, so that it's more effective at triggering combos.- Mire terrain will now yield more minerals.- A new brewing group affinity for unusual curses was added called 'torment'.- The mage spell 'frostflower' was added to the ice brewing group.- Lots of improvements were made to Thirsty Thursday, such as adding two more challenges, having your challenge display using the 'event' or 'show drunk' commands, and waiting until you are no longer fighting to complete so you don't miss it.- A new stable release of Mush-Z, the official MUSHClient add-on for the visually impaired, was released.In the near future:- We're working on ways to create auto-generating high level content so the fun will never end.- Improvements to the 'block' and 'ignore' commands are in the works.- Changes are on the way to simplify how god restores work.- We'll be adding account support for player shops.- Next month we'll be having a Thanksgiving-themed event.- We continue to work toward laying the groundwork for increasing the level cap to 39.For more information, please refer to our latest Youtube audio presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKGIX-kx77c

Happy Autumn!  Our September event is due to begin on Saturday, September 12th and end on Saturday, September 19th.  During this week you'll be able to do a simple quest to find lost pets and reunite them with their owners.  Our next big event will be Halloween Havoc at the end of October.Here's a list of significant changes from August:- We added settable NO_PUT flag, for objects that players want to exclude from 'put all'.- A variety of new forged weapons were added, for increased granularity with weapon speeds with certain base types.- Bundles of sticks can now be used to mass produce batches of arrows, bolts and darts.- A new brew-only treatment 'endure elements', that can subtly nudge fire, cold and zap resistance on objects.- Labels can now be added to containers, crafted or not, using the 'craft label' command.- Improvements, additions and fixes were made for the Thirsty Thursday challenges.For September:- Creating level 45+ content, both handcrafted and procedurally generated.- Improving the block command.- Upgrades to carving foraged holiday pumpkins, for greater customization.- Adding more support for level cap increase to 39.As for longterm goals, we have the following for October and beyond:- Building Nightmare Plane solo and group 4 areas in preparation to release for the Halloween event.- Gearing up for the Thanksgiving event.- More uses for lapidary orbs.- An archery contest weekday event for Tuesdays.For more information please refer to our September Youtube update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olTlnF4jhpg

This year's Feast of the Sacrifice event has just concluded and was a rousing success.  We hope that everybody was able to have lots of fun participating in the event quests!Our next event will be the Labor Daybor mini-event in early September.  Its theme will revolve around saving lost pets.Numerous crafting tweaks were made to the game last month, including:- Some types of wood are now rarer than others.  Also, added a new wood type: madrone- The metal used for crossbow hardware now has an effect on the speed of the finished crossbow.- Checks for adding and assembling crafted objects have been improved further to send more warnings for extreme limits and corner cases.- Added more randomness to fish weights to try and shake up the Catch of the Day a bit.Other changes in July:- Added the Thirsty Thursday recurring event.- Added the Scribes' Guild and accompanying guild job.- Added listings for ocomp and otype to mortal oset command.- Rune 'Fell' adding to channel casting.A lot of time in August will be devoted by our coders and builders toward developing level 39 abilities and high-level content in preparation for raising the level cap later this year. We are still working hard on areas such as Nightmare Plane solo and group 4 zones and another island that will be near Gianasi.We're also working on cleaning up and adding objects, and creating new jobgivers along with items to sync with scribing scrolls on Archais.  Expect more improvements to jobs to follow.  We still have a few little surprises planned, as usual.One more noteworthy announcement would be the forthcoming re-opening of an ancient area of legend and wonder: Dentin's Workshop!  Formerly known as the Mob Factory, this set of four level 28 zones will be able to accessed via Redferne's Floating Palace once they are open.For more information, please refer to our August update on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG92I31wz6I

Happy birthday, America!This year's Summer Solstice Celebration ended just a few days ago.  We hope everyone was able to enjoy the event this year!  We always strive to provide a variety of different quests and scenarios in the hopes of catering to all of players' desires.  We'll soon be handing out additional prizes for players who completed the summer event quests.  Details regarding these prizes will be posted on board 1388 when they are ready.Last Thursday was Alter Aeon's very first Thirsty Thursday!  If you missed it, we won't spoil the surprise here.  You'll just have to log in next Thursday and see for yourself what it's all about!Yesterday we released two new level 42 group 10 areas for the continent of Ramanek!Our next event, the Feast of the Sacrifice, will begin on August 1st!  This event will last until August 6th.  This event features its own special area with legacy quests to complete.Here are some highlights in the changelog from last month:- First of all, guild jobs are now available!  We made some refinements to objects that show up for seeker jobs, including spellcomps that have affinities corresponding to god attributes.  Also, seeker jobs should now only return level appropriate items.- A new level 34 druid spell was added called 'landslide'.  Using this spell, you can blow up earth walls and shambling mounds to damage groups of enemies!- A few called animals were added for mire terrain.- Fear effects now cut into your morale. High morale will help you resist fear, but at the cost of your morale. Valor and other fear-resisting effects come into play first.- Tweaks were made to adding stats to crafted items, including fixing zero weight bugs on some forged items.  Forged torcs and cuff bracelets now weight 2 pounds, but can now be inlaid. FYI this will not work with old ones, as the increased weight is the determining factor.  Also, more tweaks were made to crafting to increase the odds of getting stats, even if its just a few hp, mana or movement.- We added -force flag checks for adding to crafted items with moderate or little-to-no room left for improvement.  We also fixed a bug with inlay runes and this new -force tag code.- You can no longer blood sacrifice, butcher or skin corpses that have been recently killed by others, similar to restrictions on harvesting from corpses.  You can, however, make flesh beasts from the corpses of fish type mobs now.- We spiced up a few warrior skills with fatality strings!For more information, please refer to our latest Youtube update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EznEtVBkrvAFYI Alter Aeon now has an official Discord server!  You can find a invite link via www.alteraeon.com/discord.

This month we will be having one of our big events of the year, the Summer Solstice Celebration! It will begin on Friday, June 19th and end on Sunday, June 28th. Returning will be the fan-favorite event areas, Starving Rock and the Puzzlewood Forest. Each of these is a special area with its own unique challenge. Starving Rock is a marathon to kill as many enemies as possible by yourself, while the Puzzlewood Forest is a high level group zone that generates wave after wave of monsters of increasing strength.The primary event quest area will be taking its cue from the firefighting challenge we first did in 2015 and re-used for one of the missions in last year's event. We'll be redoing this concept on a grander scale, having players travel to an island threatened by active volcano. Players will have to do battle with a volcanic eruption while saving the native villagers from certain doom!Also in June we will be releasing the Sea of Despair, a level 43 group 15 zone for the Nightmare Plane.Here are some updates from last month:    When adding enhancements to crafted objects, such as studs, spikes, inlays, shield rims or gems, the game will more aggressively try to add stats.    Ore yields have been raised, and ore value lowered to be more in line with what finished ingots sell for.    Forged darts, bullets and arrowheads are now produced in lots instead of singly.    Moondust (the end product of using mooncatchers) can now be higher level, but it no longer saves.    Changes were made to the 'weight' command, including aliasing it to 'measure'. For carried objects, it now accurately reports size, weight and capacity for containers.    The 'points' command can now be used to list all spells and skills you can improve with points and what type of points, or generate lists of abilities that improve with profession points or combat points.    Seeker favor jobs should now have more candidate objects.Guild-based jobs are finally finished and should be implemented soon! Certain guildmasters will offer jobs to members of sufficient rank. Our Mayday mini-event is in full swing!  It is open to players of all levels, new and old alike!  Can you successfully pilot a mining robot against an unrelenting army of plant aliens?  Come and join us for a new and exciting take on Alter Aeon gameplay!  Don't wait too long to try out this event, because it will end on Friday, May 15th.Last month we released three new areas:- The Giant's Dream, a level 38 solo area.- Corona Island, a level 43 group 7 area.- The Dragon's Path, a level 40 area.Here are some highlights from the April code updates:- Tweaks and fixes to the compare command last month, including comparisons for spell components and grenades.  Compare should no longer be on by default on auction, but we added a 'bid compare' option if you want to see it.  We also added 'set shortid', to toggle between longform identification and single-line shortform id.- A new level 17 thief skill was added called 'distract'. While hidden, a thief can divert the attention of a target, making them easier to steal from.- If you know mining, the survey command will can now give some information about local geology and local mineral veins.- Mountain brass now has zapsave as its stat instead of strength.- Sterling silver can now be made into weapons and (not very good) armor.  It is average in speed, between silvered steel and doubled silver.- The various steels are now slightly slower in speed to emphasize their distinctness from base metals and mithril alloys.- Adding a rim to a woodcrafted shield will now always increase the AC by least 1.- There is a new wickercraft item: the besom, a one-off wand of remove curse.- We made sneak improve with use in a sane way.  It will be fairly infrequent, and works best when avoiding hostile mobs near or higher than your level.In May, our builders will be hard at work constructing their next areas.  One example would be The Cerulean Shore, a level 14 zone, and another would be the Sea of Despair, a level 43 group 15 zone.Also in May, we will once again return to working on guild jobs.  Much of the infrastructure to support guild-based jobs is already in place, and an Assassins Guild does now exist.  We'll be setting up guildmasters soon.We'll soon begin working toward getting this year's Summer Solstice Celebration ready to go.  The dates for this event will be announced in the June update.For more information, please refer to our May Youtube update here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoYM981nsLo

Alter Aeon will be having two mini-events in the near future!- The first will be an Easter-themed quest that will begin on the morning of Friday, April 10th and end on the evening of Monday the 13th.- The second mini-event will begin on May Day, that is to say, Friday, May 1st.  It will feature a special area with sci-fi story elements.Highlights from the changelog in March:- The ability to set custom landmarks has been removed from survey and added as a general command, 'set landmark'.- 'Survey' is now a classless skill, and the foundation of a new Orienteering skill group, which includes skills such as climbing, forest navigation, mountaineering and spelunking.- The effectiveness of hide is now slightly altered by terrain and your knowledge of orienteering skills.- Since the 'know territory' skill has been folded into animal lore, it has been replaced by the druid spell 'bloom', a healing spell that allows druids to use seeds and acorns to increase the regeneration of their plant minions.- New leathercrafted item: quirt, a short, fast whip.- New wickercraft item: dreamcatcher, one-off wand of 'featherfall'.- Woodcrafted, leathercrafted and dragonscale armor items no long have a level-based adjective.  Those adjectives are now used in with 'craft rename'. The rename routine has also been adjusted, with more variations and unique descriptors for special materials.- The level 38 mage spell, 'blaze' has been implemented.- Added an 'all -force' option for bank deposit and bank withdraw.- The Arkug (plant/tree), Plat (earth), Stal (stone) and Rava (blood) runes can now be channel cast. Arkug, Plat and Stal are more effective the higher level druid you are. Rava causes your spell to do more damage the more injured you are.- Critical spells and skills can be practiced without a teacher.- The Fool's Star will now ascend every April 1st, wreaking havoc across the land as it alters the behavior of various skills and creatures.Updates planned for April:- A new area will be added for Kordan: the Cerulean Shore, a level 14 zone.- Continue updating equipment for the higher level portions of Kordan, and then move onto Archais.  - We will soon release the Sea of Despair, a level 43 group 15 zone.- The compare command is getting a major face lift to make it more useful.- Groundwork for another weekly event should get under way and be ready before the Summer Solstice event in June.For more information, please see our April Youtube update here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BY0XKAtkAw

We're pleased to announce the dates for our next global event: the Spring Festival 2020!  This event will begin on March 20th and end sometime on March 23rd.   It will involve hunting down some teleporting mobs and have some special quests to discover and complete.Here is a list of some changes made to the game from last month:- Improvements have been made to the newbie islands to make early gameplay easier, such as adding more animals to make skinning and butchering jobs easier and adding more equipment appropriate for low-level characters.- Questlines have been devised that lead from Dragon Tooth to Ralnoth to help guide players from the final newbie island toward higher level areas on the mainland in an organic manner.- A new daily event was developed for Mondays: the great Snipe Hunt.  Daily events, such as the aforementioned snipe hunts and fishing derbies, now grant minor boons for completing them.- Adding silver or sky iron-based studs to leather weapons now gives them lycanthrope bane or nonorm damage, respectively.- The 'undead scourge', 'devil ill' and 'angel ravage' unguents can now be applied to weapons to give them a short-lived bane effect.- Changes to the way battle tactics are constructed will prevent incompatible skills from showing up in combos together.- Adjustments have been made to fame calculations to increase accuracy and screen out fame from areas that are no longer open.Within the next month two new areas will be released: the Sea of Despair, a level 43 group 15 area, and the Giant's Dream, a level 38 solo area.Also in March, we will be making some changes to reduced antidotes so that the maximum number of antidotes you can carry and the efficacy of those antidotes will be tied to your thief level and knowledge of the 'reduce antidote' skill.  We will also be introducing a proper Assassins' Guild and begin implementing guild-based jobs.For more information, please see our monthly Youtube update here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8P_EPEkKyH4

Last month we celebrated Alter Aeon's 25th anniversary!  We hope that everyone who was able to participate in the celebratory event had a good time and enjoyed the narrative.Our Valentine's Day event will be getting underway soon.  The story behind this event is that there is a migration of mysterious angelic beasts moving from one plane of light to another, and they pass through the world of Alter Aeon during their journey.  Log into Alter Aeon on or around Valentine's Day to meet these creatures and see what they're all about.Here are some highlights of last month's updates:- We released the Palace of the Dragon Emperor, Public Halls, a level 41 group 7 area on the continent of Suboria.- ICE type creatures are no longer immune to the damage from the necromancer spells tarrant's spectral hand and spectral claw. They take half magic damage instead. This gives low-level necromancers some firepower against ICE monsters.- Items from the starting zones should no longer show up for jobs.- Most thief and warrior melee skills now use same targeting routines. This reduces code redundancy and also makes sure targeting is more consistent between skills.- Feint no longer works against opponents who cannot see you and lasts a bit longer. Flourish no longer demoralizes opponents who cannot see you. The base damage of flourish was also raised- There have been lots of crafting tweaks, including changes in speed for inoxium and starmetal, the ability for certain shopkeepers to make minor improvements to weapons, and some minor changes to weapon assembling.- The ability to inlay metal into crafted objects has been folded into jewelrysmithing. The inlay metal skill is now the inlay rune skill. This allows druids skilled at jewelrysmithing to attempt to inlay metallic runes into metal items. Since this requires melting down metal at a forge, it has a gold cost in additional to a mana cost.- Using socials on intelligent humanoids and living animals will now cause reactions, mostly them being annoyed at you for doing insulting, intimate or disgusting things to them. This is experimental, however, there is nothing to fear; mobs will never attack due to socials. They will eventually socialize with you again, if you leave them alone for a while. They may also respond favorably to being greeted with a smile or handshake, provided they can see you and you didn't annoy them first.- Several new pieces of eq were made and added them throughout Sloe and Kordan. We also added a few camels and other animals on both Sloe and Kordan for jobs and hump day bonuses.Here are some updates for planned for February:- New continuing questlines from Archais into Ralnoth are under construction, and we are improving Ralnoth itself along the way.- Continued work to improve social interactions with NPCs.- Adding minor boons for participating in events such as humpday and fishing derbies.  Another such event is planned: the snipe hunt.- More improvements are planned for all the starting islands.- Guild-related jobs.For more information please refer to our February Youtube update:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kf9wJFeKrY

This January marks the 25th anniversary of when the game went live to the public, guided by a handful of college students in Fairbanks, Alaska. It has been our pleasure to entertain you all these years. We have come a long way, and we hope to go even further!In honor of this momentous occasion, we will be orchestrating an event to celebrate. This event will consist of a special area with intent to bring a role-playing experience with several possible outcomes. It will be appropriate for players of all levels. The event is set begin on Friday, January 17th and end on Wednesday, January 22nd for the time being, although those dates are not set in stone.Last month we developed functional automatic fishing derbies, which are held at random times every Friday, except during events. It was also arranged that the bragging and showing of equipment now works for all equipment types, including consumables.The 'demon lore' skill is now critical, and the 'demonic tutor' skill has 'demon lore' as the sole prerequisite. This fixes our final exigency conflict, where an important or critical ability had an ability of lesser exigency as a prerequisite. As a special bonus, if you know both 'demon lore' and 'corpsecutter', you now have a chance to get special spellcomps when harvesting from the corpses of demons and angels.Here is a preview of feature additions to the game we plan for next year:-    Add music to the dclient and improve the interface to better reflect the player's current status.-    Have certain shopkeepers offer simple services such as tailoring or improving weapons. This is not planned to be widespread or extensive.-    Add the final planned crafting skills.-    Create at least one more bonus class for events, such as Monk or Paladin.-    Add social reactions from animals and sentient humanoids.-    Implement the 'hunting' skill, which will likely be incorporated as an action-based skill like fishing or mining.-    Add hirelings, which would be minions you can hire for gold.-    Add random land encounters similar to ocean encounters.-    Implement naval combat and naval trade. We've already laid out some groundwork for these.-    Raise the level cap to 40.We have plans to release many more areas in 2020 to create content for all different levels, such as:-    The Palace of the Dragon Emperor, a level 41 group 7 zone for Suboria.-    More islands for Gianasi, a level 43 continent.-    Solo and group zones for the Nightmare Plane, a level 43 plane.-    Port Crimsonia, a level 42 area, and other areas for Ramanek.-    A dream zone for Naginag, a level 38 area.-    A trio of areas for Archais called Dentin's Workshop, level 25 zones.And more!You can see our latest Youtube presentation here for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srCdyfbK_3w

Our fall festival event may have just concluded a few days ago, but our next event is right around the corner!  This year's Winter Solstice event will begin on Saturday, December 21st and will end sometime on Thursday, January 2nd.  Expect New Year pk arena mob sets, the EPDS cannons, teleporting mobs and several event areas!  Keep an eye on upcoming details using the 'event show' command.Here is a list of notable additions to the game for the month of November:- 'Shellcraft' split off from 'leathercraft' as a fully realized skill. Armor crafted from shells will have higher AC than from leather, and different saving throws than dragonscale armor. If you know shellcraft, you can also craft weapon grips from objects such as ivory, horn and antlers.- Two new brew-only spells were added: 'harden leather' and 'seal leather'. 'Harden leather' adds hitpoints to leather objects, while 'seal leather' adds saving poison. A leather object can only receive one such treatment.- The "metallurgy check" command now shows difficulty for metals, the purity and type of metal yielded from ores and if an item can be used as carbon source for steel-making. When specifically targeting an ore, it will show an estimated yield.- 'Craft label' can now be used on consumable items such as ammo, grenades, spell components, herbs or scrolls, with no profession point cost.- Recently added were supply crates of random forgeable metals and spellcomps will be coming to daily gifts and credit purchases. There will be no exclusive items in these, they will be drawn from existing objects similar to the way shopkeepers fill out their inventories. - Jobs have received many updates to improve them, and more are on the way.Starting in December, automated fishing derbies will be held on Fridays, except during events.  We are assembling preliminary framework for fishing with boats.  It may not be finished until next year.  We will add more random boarder encounters for ships, including some non-hostile ones.For more information, please listen to our December update on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r78bZTKAGj4

The Halloween Havoc event may be over, but our next event is just around the corner!  This year's Fall Festival will begin on Wednesday, November 27th, and will end sometime on the morning of Monday, December 2nd.  There will be a corn-maze, turkey-themed pk arenas and teleporting mobs to hunt down!Land Ho! A new island has been discovered southeast of the Island of Morjah.  This new area, called the Isle of the Dead, is a level 43 group 7 zone for the continent of Gianasi.Code changes from October:- You can now brag and show objects, which displays an abbreviated version of the identify output. Great for showing off loot from tough dungeons or your mastercrafted projects.- The Luam rune can now be channelcast.  This binds light to a spell's matrix, causing it to poison demons and vampires, but it does only half damage to angels.- All the major crafts will accept a level argument.  You can designate the level you wish the finished object to be, as long as it does not exceed your own.- Added a 'craft description' option, allowing crafters to spend a profession point to give a crafted object a custom long description.- You can add grips to woodcrafted bows and longbows, and leathercrafted whips.- 'Forge check' has been improved so it will show the purity of ores you have and also identify viable carbon sources for steel-making.- Scales can be added to leathercrafted armor to increase its ac and add the effects of the metal.  Scale armor will generally not be as protective as its 'forge armor' counterparts, but it can be rune-carved if you know firebrand.- Various tweaks to metallurgy, including more accurate forging costs that treat leftover metal from forging weapons and armor at the same price point as splitting or combining metals, a significant discount.- Seven new job types added: apothecary, wandmaker, clothier, custom retrieval, forager, quartermaster and anointer.Plans for November:- Guild jobs: starting with the Cartographers' Guild.  Venture into the wildernesses of Alter Aeon to map an unexplored region.- Fishing derbies: these contests will be held on Fridays, and whoever catches the biggest fish by the end of the derby wins!- Two new areas: the City of Ironheart, a level 37 group 4 zone, and the Tunnels of Gorthic, a level 38 group 10 zone.For more information, please visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN-cED1eUiY

As our first order of business: it is my pleasure to announce the dates of this year's Halloween Havoc!  This Halloween-themed event is something of an annual tradition and is our biggest and best event of the year.  If there is any event on Alter Aeon that you do not want to miss out on, this is it!The event will be for players of all levels, with content for both newcomers and old-timers alike.  It will begin sometime on Wednesday, October 30th, and run until the morning of Tuesday, November 5th.  Sometime that following week a new island for the continent of Gianasi will be released.Major crafting changes in September include the following:- The cost for splitting and combining metal has been reduced. The cost of smelting has been significantly reduced.- Grips can be added to woodcraft bows.- Nearly a dozen new weapons were added to metallurgy to emphasize differences in speed and damage between the various handle lengths.- A new alloy was added: liver copper.- Hone weapon is now directly dependent on metallurgy instead of forge simple weapon, so that hone weapon and balance weapon do not require you to be able to craft weapons yourself. You must still know forge simple weapon in order to learn customize weapon, however.Job changes include: - Having incomplete jobs save across reboots, except for delivery jobs because that wouldn't make sense with delivery objects not saving on logout anymore.- We added five new 'gather' type jobs: lumberjack, slaughterhouse, fishmonger, ironmonger and skinner.  These involve having to bring the jobgiver a certain amount of wood, meat, fish, ore or skins, respectively.- We also added a 'job reject' command, that way you can disable a job that you have no intention of fulfilling so it doesn't keep showing up in your jobs list.Here are some other changes in September:- Sea encounters have a higher chance of occuring, and the cooldown between them has been lowered. - Moondust can now be quite a bit higher level.- Added an option for 'set keep '. KEEP-flagged objects prevents it from being dropped, given away, donated, sold, auctioned, thrown in a fire and otherwise removed from a player's inventory. KEEP supersedes and replaces 'credit buy nosac', as it is completely free and can be toggled on and off objects as desired.- The thief poison brew is now 'basic poison', because it conflicted with 'poison ivy' and 'poison mushroom' in the spell parser.- Help pages now show the relative speed of combative spells and skills. Keep in mind many melee skills can be performed more quickly than the listing with fast weapons and equipment that adds attacks.- The favor command now indicates when you have maximum favor, for better tracking when priest jobs will give you bonus experience.- Your waypoint list will now indicate how much time remains for a temporary waypoint created by a 'hallowed ground' spell.So, here are our plans for October (besides the event):- All the major crafts will be able to accept a level argument, so you can make equipment of any level lower or equal than your own. Last month we had the Feast of the Sacrifice event, which went off without a hitch!  The event was even extended a couple of days as per popular demand.  While we don't have an event planned for September, next month will see our biggest event of the year, Halloween Havoc.  Details about this upcoming event will be provided in our next monthly update!In August, we added a lot of code!  General changes include:- Additional prompt tags (%%php, %%pmn and %%pmv) for tracking the  percentage of one's own hit points, mana and movement, respectively.- We got the Smiths' Guild up and running.  You can join at forges in most major settlements.  Progression is dependent on how many mastercraft items you forge.  The higher rank you have in the Smiths' Guild, the greater discount you get when forging.  Joining requires forging just one mastercraft item and nets you a 5% discount!- A new condensed format has been devised for identifying weapons.  This should make finding the right weapon for fighting particular enemies easier.  Also, obviously terrible weapons will have an ugly JUNK flag show up on identify.- The 'mystic armament' spell now works on flexible weapons of all types.  Whip it good!- You can now target a worn body slot with identify. For example, if you want to id the equipment on your feet, you can type 'id feet'Crafting improvements:- Help pages for spells now include an autogenerated line of what consumable items they can be added to, such as brewed potions, tinctures, scribed scrolls and spellstaffs.- Leathercrafted armor will have lower armor class (AC), but a greater chance of adding large amounts of hitpoints and movement. - Added forged studs and spikes on leathercrafted armor now more heavily favor adding damroll, hitroll and attacks to leathercrafted equipment over other stats.  The type of metal used is also more important.- Skinning and butchering should work on much smaller animals now.  Don't expect to get much, though.Forging improvements:- Forging mastercrafts should be easier with lower-level characters and less dependent on luck now.- Weapon dierolls have been re-calibrated to land higher and mastercrafted forged armor should gain larger armor class bonuses.- The time for smelting ores has been halved.- All forging costs, including profession point costs for hone weapon, balance weapon, customize weapon and reinforce armor, have been lowered, and this is on top of the discount from the Smiths' Guild.- The speed differences between forged weapons with grips vs. ones with handles (one-handed) and ones with hafts vs. ones with poles (two-handed) should be more pronounced.Job updates:- The job and quest commands are now more intuitive and mirror one another better so that it's easier to learn and use both.  As part of this, some new options were added to the job command.- Retrieval jobs will favor targets from the same sector, and will pay more if they choose an item from a different sector than the jobgiver.- Jobs will favor targets from solo areas, and even when they choose from a group area, they will choose targets from lower level areas that the player should be able to handle alone.- Numerous fixes to specific jobs types, such keeping a pilgrimage target within a level range of the player, having the gold required from almoner jobs be more fair and broadening the range of items acceptable for jeweler and seeker jobs.- Jobs will save and load across reboots now!In September, expect even more updates for crafting and jobs!  Also, the Assassins' Guild in the works!For more information, please listen to our August update on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBlk6xtCzFA

We are proud to announce our event for this month, the Feast of the Sacrifice!  This event will begin on Monday, August 12th and end on Friday, August 16th.  The event will feature special Eid themed quests, and it will be for players of all levels!Important updates in July:- Additional runes have been added to channel casting, ranging from decreasing casting lag to using shadows to do increased damage to angels (which requires shadow mastery).- There have been improvements made to scribing scrolls, so you will be able to scribe a scroll using spellcomps that have an affinity for the spell, not just an affinity for its spellgroup (if that spell can be added to scrolls, of course).- We also added two new spellcomp affinities: shadow and force fields.- Crafting skills now all use a unified system for calculating movement point cost.- Metal constructs made from metal with spell resistance or absorption stats will gain corresponding saving throws.- The Cartographers' Guild is now active. Guild advancement is dependent on explorer points. Higher guild rank allows access to private guildhalls which stock caches of minor but useful supplies.  (We now have an answer when newbies ask us, "What are explorer points used for?")- We've made a number of improvements to jobs to have them make more sense, such as keeping newbies within an appropriate level range and locking high level players out the newbie islands entirely.  This is in addition to the efficiency updates to stop job construction from lagging the game.- Sea boarder encounters are now active.  This means that when you are sailing, strange sea creatures may board your vessel!  Some have friendly intentions, but most are hostile. Some encounters only happen during the day or the night, and certain ones may be limited to specific sectors of the world.Upcoming coding and building updates:- Sea border encounters can be built live in the game, so expect more to be steadily added throughout the coming months.- As for guilds, look for an Assassins' Guild to be set up next.- We have plans for a livery skill, based on tailoring, for making decorative items of clothing. This skill should be ready for October and is intended to help players design costumes for Halloween Havoc.- Work continues on the new Nightmare Planes zones and other event areas in preparation for Halloween Havoc.- We've have been working on making sense of all the Ralnoth quests and figuring out a good layout for the aforementioned quests.  The goal is to have guide players to appropriate level areas to complete quests.- We plan on adding many more job types, including jobs for the various crafting skills.- We plan on improving the spell metadata readouts, so that spell help pages will have a line at the bottom telling what player crafted items can have them, such as potions, tinctures or druidic spellstaves.Later this month an interview will be conducted with the world builder Draak using the question-and-answer format used previously with Dentin and Morpheus.  More information about this and other updates can be found in our August Youtube audio presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sQDJHIOVf0

The seventh annual Summer Solstice Celebration of Alter Aeon still ongoing!  We decided to extend it for another weekend so everybody has a chance to finish the event quests!  The summer event will now end the morning of Monday, July 8th.Here's a summary of recent coding updates we did in June:- Critical  skills for the thief class were rebalanced, meaning that the balancing  of all six classes is now complete.  Skills and spells have been spread  out more evenly, and each class's abilities now require roughly the same  number of practices- The  druidic mooncatcher skill is now fully developed and implemented.   Mooncatchers can be filled and then sealed, transforming them into  moondust, a spell component with unique properties.- Areas can now  have a geology type set.  Certain minerals are more common in some  geologies than others.  This should help players find particular  minerals more easily.- Shopkeepers that  randomly restock herbs will only load herbs from the sector they are  located. This should help non-druids find certain herbs more easily,  especially for jobs.- Druid called  animals can be fed by giving them preferred foods. This helps them  recover from combat. They have strong preferences for certain foods, so  while a black bear may eat a wide variety of foodstuffs, a moose will  not eat fish, nor will a mountain lion eat fruit.- Instead of  tripping, called alligators now perform a "death roll" against badly  wounded opponents. This attack does a high amount of damage and heals  the alligator a little, but it can only be used against creatures near  death that are smaller than the alligator.- The thief feint skill will now lower and reset cooldown timers for flourish and crippling strike.- It is now  possible to directly improve the quality of crafted objects with  profession points. You must know the skill necessary to craft the item  to at least 90% (or excellent).- The news command now displays when double exp system events are under way.Here is a list of code changes coming up in July:- Sea-based boarders like crawling octopi, giant crabs and hostile merfolk will be up and going.- Changes to dread portent and soulsteal to make them interact more smoothly and behave more fairly in groups.- Streamlining job processes.  Jobs generate a lot of lag, and the solution is to create standing lists of mobs and objects eligible for jobs that updates every day, much in the same way that fame does.- Making content from the news command to be visible on the main website.Last month we opened the Valley of Sacerdotes, a level 41 autogroup zone for the plane of Crepuscula.Redferne's Floating Palace and the new Dragon Tooth research center have been finished.   Everything has been releveled to level 28 and many new quests have been added to merge it all up together.   Players can talk to Gimthen in Dragon Tooth to start it all.  Our world builders hope to make several more quests that will aid the transition of players from Archais to the mainland.Furthermore, work has begun in earnest to build the  Palace of the Dragon Emperor, which will be a multizone level 41 group 7  autogroup instance in Suboria.  Large groups of high level players will  be able to test their mettle against the elite soldiery of Suboria, as  well as solve puzzles in the catacombs beneath the palace.  Work on the  palace is expected to continue into late fall or early winter.In other parts of the realm, work continues on the Nightmare Plane solo and group 4 zones, a new island for the continent of Gianasi and a new port city for the continent of Ramanek.  The goal is to finish these in time for the Halloween event.Speaking of events, our next event will be for the Feast of the Sacrifice in mid-August.Stay tuned to our Youtube channel for more updates!  Check out our July update here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud7-7PqXOqE

This month we will be conducting our big league summertime event, the Summer Solstice Celebration!  This will be the seventh such annual event.  It will begin on the day of the summer solstice, Friday, June 21st and end on the evening of July 4th.Like last year, the Puzzlewood Forest will return.  We will be presenting a solo version for players of all levels with endless experience level mobs, and a group version with wave after wave of mobs of increasing strength to challenge high level players, just like last year.  We'll also be lifting a couple of elements from the 2014 event and the 2016 event for the main story areas, namely the portal dispelling from the former and the point defense of the latter.  Players will be presented with instanced battleground zones, with specific missions to accomplish for each one.A special effort was made last month to balance the skills and spells of the various classes.  The goal is to even out the amount of practices necessary to gain the critical abilities of each class, giving each class roughly the same number and at regular intervals.  In particular, several abilities have been spread out quite a bit to prevent clumping at lower levels.  In keeping with this vein, there are no longer any critical abilities beyond level 30, only important, helpful and obscure ones.  The theory is that by level 30, your selection of primary class abilities will be heavily influenced by your choices of secondary and tertiary classes.In addition, some spells and skills that are outdated will be receiving improvements, such as 'cure blindness' and 'feint'.  So far, the mage, cleric, warrior, necromancer and druid classes have been updated, and the thief class is soon to follow.In June, we have a number of a code updates planned.  For example:- Druid called animals will eat food they are given. Here is some recent news regarding Alter Aeon:The 'mystic projectile' spell has gotten a facelift, becoming the more versatile 'mystic armament', which not only can be cast on blunt ammunition like sling bullets but also blunt weapons, imbuing affected items with magic type damage.  The 'blindness' and 'cure blindness' spells might be getting changed up a bit as well, and some other cleric spells and skills will be tweaked to increase their usefulness, especially the 'expiation' spell.Small refinements for gods are being devised, such as favored compositions for unguents and sacrifices.  Pantheon entries have been set up to accept composition assignments, and we will finish switching over to the new system soon.  We are also working toward having unguents be able to be poured.There have been improvements to warrior combinations.  Combos can add hit point regeneration or constitution, and they will add movement regeneration in place of strength, dexterity or constitution if the attribute is already maxed out.Basic infrastructure has been set up for randomized encounters.  The goal is to have functional land encounters in time for the Summer Solstice Celebration, so we can showcase them in the event areas.  Details regarding the summer event will be revealed in our June update!We're going to be reworking Redferne's palace this month, which is a major hub of exotic areas for the low-level island of Archais.  The palace and associated areas will have quests added and will be leveled up and moved to the eastern part of the island. Last month we celebrated Saint Patrick's Day and the Spring Equinox with the Spring Festival 2019 event!  Players had a great time, and circumstances throughout the event led us to discover some bugs to fix and inspired us to code some additional building tools to make events and death marches in the future run more smoothly.Code updates in March include:- A new level 33 necromancer skill 'soulsmith'. Necromancers adept at the gemcutting skill can learn to add soulstones to crafted jewelry as if they were gemstones. High-level soulstones are difficult to mount, but result in more powerful jewelry.- Rune-based channel casting options - these changes allows mages to add blasting damage to spells, focus them into cutting beams, increase the cast level and more, at the cost of additional mana. Help pages now show if a spell can be channel cast.- Lapidary, leathercraft, woodcraft and bonecraft check can now be used on crafted items to determine what additions can be added to them. A 'check' option has been add to 'metalurgy enhance' for check what enhancements can be used on objects.- The 'climb' command has been deprecated. Players will automatically use their climb skill when moving through climb-only exits.- Small tweaks to luck to make luck checks more internally consistent.- The option of adding more details to heraldic symbols, such as them being wreathed in flame or covered with armor.In March we released the third and final Tower of Learning on the east side of Dragon Tooth.There are three areas that we should have finished within the next two months:- the Valley of the Sacerdotes, a level 41 area on Crepuscula- the Heliacal Moors, a level 42 area on Diurnus- the Pool of Radiance, another level 42 area on DiurnusExpect more refinement in crafting skills coming up in the next couple of months.We are once again working toward making naval combat and trade a reality.  It is our hope to have naval encounters ready some time in May and naval trade ready before the summer event in June.Watch for Easter Eggs when foraging this month: now with improved colors!For more information can be found at our April Youtube audio presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_uQITu4mBo-Shadowfax

Happy March, everyone!  We will be having a general game event this month called the Spring Festival.  It will begin on the evening of Friday, March 15th, run through Saint Patrick's Day weekend, and end after the following weekend on Monday, March 25th.  The event will feature the metarrexi as antagonists, which are plant-based aliens from Diurnus that haven't been seen since the Homecoming event in August of 2017.  This event will have two acts, with the first being available from the start and the second act being introduced on the vernal equinox.  A Death March will be ran on the final night of the event just before everything is shut down.General game additions and improvements from February include:- Hiding players will no longer be exposed by searching players, unless both parties are registered for player-killing.- Successful warrior combos can now daze and stun opponents.- Field of the grasping dead is now more effective against ethereal creatures.- As an unintended side effect of the taste project, a 'pine' taste/scent has be added.- An unnatural spring to be used as a source for the flood spell, thus opening up many more possible places where water spells can be used.Here are some crafting improvements:- Certain pieces of forged jewelry will have reduced stats, leaving them with more open composite when adding gems and inlays.- You can now add gemstones to crafted masks.- Crafted weapons with high quality will have better dierolls.- You can now specify a desired weight when splitting items such as spellcomps, herbs and ores.- If you know lapidary, you can crush ore into powder that can be used in brews. This is especially useful for getting materials of a specific composition for brewing unguents and acids.- You can now use salty-tasting spellcomps as seasoning when cooking, and a few flavor tweaks.We can expect the following upcoming changes in March:- A new necromancer skill called 'soulsmith', which allows necromancers to mount soulstones to jewelry like gemstones.- Spalted woodcrafted items will have a chance to randomize their stats similar to patchwork leather.- Additional options to the various mage elemental focus skills, to allow mages to make on-the-fly changes to spells. We're springing into the season on Alter Aeon with all new updates and zones! Remember that during the month of April you can forage for special Easter eggs items!Last month, we made a lot of small improvements, with hints for wearing equipment in empty slots, using the identify command and removing most non-combat related abilities from the initial trainers so they can focus on survival spells and skills that deal damage, protect or heal.For experienced players, we added the dragonscale armor skill, which will generally yield equipment with better armor class. Also, you can now woodcraft, leathercraft, use lapidary, forge and bonecraft on behalf of other players. We also released the Ayakashi Archipelago last month, a level 41 zone in Suboria.A lot of new areas are scheduled to be released soon, adding the following zones:    - Major update to the Zulu lands, a level 40 area.    - Add Five to six new level 40 group 10 underdark areas, including The Underdark Wilds, the city of Neverdawn, the Sprawling Chaos, the Mushroom forest, and Zhar'Gaff'Tran'Zortos lair.    - Add another level 41 Suboria areas, the Misuto-Shima Province.    - Two level 26 areas for Archais.    - A level 40 group 10 area for the City of Kings.    - A level 43 group 4 area near Gianasi.    - Ten solo and group 4 zones for the Nightmare Plane.    - Two level 40 zones, which were the Valentine's Day event areas, the villages of Egmondville and Newtonia.    - A level 27 area for Redferne's Palace called Dentin's WorkshopNow that we have raised the level cap to 38, we will be adding abilities to each class to round out the new level. Alter Aeon March 2018 Update

In March we will be having the Spring Festival, an event to celebrate the vernal equinox. This event will start on Saturday, March 17th and run until Tuesday the 20th. The event will be for all levels, so even brand new players can try it out!Other updates last month include:- Massive cleanup of typos and updating mobs to yield better experience.- Two new zones were added: the Shiroi Sora Monastery in Suboria, a level 41 group 4 area and Kithika the accursed city, a level 42 group 4 area on Ramanek.- The fishing skill has been transformed into a mini-game. You can perform several actions to increase the chances of fish biting, and must reel in anything that bites your line. About two dozen more species of fish have been added.- Cooking has been fully implemented, with the ability to roast butchered meat and fish, as well as prepare simple recipes. Skill-based cooking is interactive like fishing, as you can flip, season and taste the food in order to achieve desired results.- New mage enchantments to imbue fire, ice and electrical damage on weapons, gloves and boots have been added, as well as the 'enchant essence' skill for adding cast level or skill level effects to objects.- The 'appraise' command for objects, to get a rough idea of how much they can be upgraded or enchanted.Next month we plan on adding two new zones (in addition to event areas). We intend to add traps and hunting in the next month or two. Since we raised the level cap earlier this year, we also plan on adding some new skills and spells to help flesh out the abilities of each class a bit more. Happy New Year, from the staff of Alter Aeon!Our Winter Solstice event may almost be over, but there is still time to participate! There are many special event quests and activities to do, and new players are always welcome and can take part in the special events right away. The event ends on Thursday the 4th.Our forging system has been fully implemented, with smelting, alloying, armor, weapons, jewelry and inlaying. Recent reworks for skinning and leatherworking include certain kinds of animals such as foxes, badgers and wolves now yielding pelts instead of skins or hides. We're also adding the ability for skins from the same type of creature to be bundled together, and for those with higher skill levels to remove skins in one large piece instead of several smaller ones.Other recent additions:- A furrier skill has been added for turning pelts into fur lining for forged and leathercrafted armor, and also adds a few new pelt-only leathercrafted items such as muffs and stoles.- Taste and smell have been added to edible objects in anticipation of the upcoming cooking skill.- The much anticipated area of Tashadar, city of the drow has been released. It is a level 39 group 10 area reworked for high level players.Coming soon:- The anniversary of when Alter Aeon first went live is January 15th, 1995. In honor of this, we will be having a special event for both new and experienced players. The story will be that there is a surge of globally-organized bandit attacks, and a new guild will be formed to combat the threat. The event will last from Friday the 19th to Sunday the 21st.- Our level cap will soon rise from 37 to 38. Level 38 is planned for implementation around this year's anniversary event. New skills and spells will be added to accommodate.- Traps and related skills for thieves are scheduled to be implemented in January. We recently concluded this year's Thanksgiving-themed event, the Fall Festival.  It went off without problems and provided many fun quests and pk arenas to play!Our next event will be centered around the Winter Solstice.  It will begin on Thursday, December 21st and will run for two weeks, ending on Thursday, January 4th.  Details will be forthcoming.This past month we saw many great additions to the game, such as:- New fairy-themed zones for the lower level twenties on Archais.- New forged items, such as flasks, buckles, marbles and dice.- New crafting skills: 'forge armor', 'inlay metal', and 'forge simple weapon', for the making of spears, axes, maces, hammers and many more.- New minerals to work with mining and lapidary, such as hornblende and iolite.Next month we plan to add the following features:- A high-level dungeon zone for the continent of Suboria.- 'Forge nihonto' and 'forge kozane' for Japanese style weapons and armor.- A new metal, nickel, and accompanying alloys, such as white copper and nickel silver.- 'Sunstone' and 'starstone' gems for lapidary and gemcutting.- Booby, mechanical and magical traps for thieves.- The ability to build ammunition for firearms.We are excited to announce that we will also be raising the level cap from 37 to 38 either next month or in January!For more information please see our latest Youtube monthly update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwTgfBEeDLw-Shadowfaxwww.alteraeon.com
