I note that the moderation post is still there, which means that, despite the attempts to appease the crowd, the ruling is officially still in standing, despite the absence of a ratified rule, thereby still unfairly punishing a new developer all whilst pretending to take back the statements about said developer's content. This while Crazy Party has no such warning, Alter Aeon has no warning, Cosmic Rage has no warning, etc.Words mean nothing without the attendant actions to back them up. We are still children having to listen to mommy and daddy.

Re: Vast Horizon (new game)

It was an extremely poor decision on the moderation team's part to pass a judgement based on a rule in progress. Typically, you draft a regulation and place it into circulation, allow people to read it, and then you enforce it. How do you justify cracking down on what is (as of now) a nonexistent rule? Sure, you'll be thinking about it and writing it into existence soon, but you haven't yet. This is basically saying we're prohibiting you from drinking pepsy at our store, even though there's nothing on the door saying you can't drink pepsy here. We'll have the sign made in a few weeks, but even not seeing the sign, you should've known the rule anyway, even though up until now, pepsy was a perfectly allowed beverage option.I'm going to say that, in this case, the moderation team has failed the community, and should probably be subject to the community failure clause. This is a guilty until proven innocent situation. This is a blatant disregard for your user base, by attempting to force on them a rule which they knew nothing of, had no choice to accept or refuse. You came out swinging in what I believe was an impassioned decision that resulted in a very poor execution. I've generally always supported the moderation team before, but I also have always tried to fight for the under represented, and in this case, your entire user base is the under represented. It is the severest form of draconian rule to pass a mandate without allowing the members' consent. Would it have harmed anything to let the rule sit for a while as you considered it, drafted it, then put it into play? Would it have hurt anything to let the user base know such a rule existed? It definitely would've caused a stir, but it would have anyway. If this is how moderation is going to be run on this site, then perhaps audiogames has run its course and the user base has a whole needs to wave goodbye and find new grounds. Heck, I left for a while and only returned because of Say The Spire, and what do I return to? Draconian dictatorship without any degree of consideration for the users of the forum. It's this same kind of thing that saw previous moderation staff members be dismissed. Do we perhaps need a new moderation team if the current one is perfectly ok trying to enforce a rule that does not exist? If you were going to enforce this rule, why to this one particular developer? Why not someone else who was much more established? Because this new developer was smaller, has a smaller following, and so you probably figured you'd receive less backlash than if you were to spring it on something like Crazy Party, Alter Aeon, or, yes, Cosmic Rage.I think the moderation team owe the folks who make this game a huge apology, as well as one to the entire user base. You need to reconsider your positions. You are not our parents or our gods, nor our potentates. You are at the end of the day still users of the forum who also have the ability to moderate things when they get out of hand, that's it. Please don't pull the high horse and think you know what's better, which is exactly what you're doing when you try to pass a rule without anyone else's knowledge, consent, or ability to refuse. This is why companies send out terms of service updates, and until such time, cannot enforce such rules. If PayPal wanted to disallow the use of Visa, they would have to first inform their users, then provide a grace period, then put the new decision into play.I hope you're proud of yourselves for having gone this route. If you intend to stick to your guns, I'll probably have to leave this site, but not before I send yet another strongly worded communication to the site owners. It got things changed once when the Steam situation came up, and even if it does nothing now, my voice on the behalf of the user base will have been heard by the site owners.Moderation staff, you are not a totalitarian rule.

I think it's a bit rich for the Cosmic Rage sound pack folks to claim that sounds were lifted from CR to be used in another sound pack, when I'm sure they still have remnants of the Miriani sounds left over in their own pack, which I made back in 2006? This means Cosmic Rage might not be able to talk about their own sound pack, either...

Re: Revenge Of The Undead, a new zombie shooter

@nolan I find that, with most of the audio gaming community, what you have are a bunch of couch potato critics and trolls who expect a AAA title out of a budding teenage developer. They want the earth, the moon, and the sun, but they expect someone else to deliver it, all so that they can sit back and complain about that one ocean that came in the wrong colour, or the fact that this mountain doesn't have the right amount of rocks.I received plenty of that criticism back when Swamp was starting -- The weapons sound lame, not accurate, not rich enough. You should've spent 10,000 dollars to buy sound libraries for a free game. No, you should've spent the thousands of dollars to buy a sound recording rig, hire a firearms specialist, rent an area, get the liences, etc, etc, all for a free game. People would rather complain then just say "I don't like it", and move on to something else. Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with constructive, helpful criticism and input, but the vitriol I see from the majority of this community is rarely in that class. They're prefer to belittle and troll, to demean and demerit, to tear down and insult, all while they've been handed a free game. It's a starving man going to a soup kitchen and complaining that the crackers for his soup aren't imported from France.I wouldn't blame you at all if you elected to not announce your project on this forum. In fact, I took a break from this place just because I was sick with the general attitude of the entitlement, whining, trolling, and general lack of consideration. That being said, I hope a few rotten apples won't ruin the bushel for you. There are still some of us who appreciate the hard work and charity that goes into a free project, and some of us even remember what it is to respect another human being who has given them a free gift, and might even know how to offer constructive input on your product.Kai

I love playing this game, but ugh. Why are the starting decks so dumb? Always aa million useless strike and defend cards creating clutter. I really wish standard mode let you draft at least some of the cards -- give you 3 strikes and 3 defends, then let you draft (in the same style as the custom mode) the rest of your starting deck. So not a guaranteed good deck, but at less a lot less fluff than this starting deck. Do you know how annoying it is to wanna play a lightning defect and have to be running for every merchant just to pay to remove cards... assuming you have the gold? LOL.

Re: Say the Spire, a Slay the Spire Accessibility Mod

So a question and a couple requests:@stewie Do you know if there's any discernable highlighting done in the custom game mode whilst selecting cards from a seal deck? So far, I really don't know of a way to remember which cards I've selected, and how many I still need to pick. If there's some API way to find this out, it'd be awesome to hear selected or something for the ones you've already clicked on, as well as a tally towards the requirement.Along the same vain: Is there any discernable prompt variation between the different card selection modes? Case in point, I often forget that I have the Gambler's Chip relic, for instance, and so start trying to play cards, when in fact what I'm doing is selecting them to be replaced. I was hoping there'd be some API variable there so you could attach a sound to that kind of prompt. This does happen a lot, since there are a lot of cards that ask you to select cards to interact with. Now my question: I've beaten act 3 with all three of the characters, and yet still can't seem to get the watcher, which (according to the Wiki) should only require beating the game with the Defect unlock and, as I did beat the game with the Defect, I'd say that qualifies. LOL. Does anyone know what's going on?

Neither of the stick settings would trigger the virtual buffer commands. So I can play a game, but I can't read any card details, which makes the prospect less than fruitful.I've tried a full uninstall and wipe before (which was how I even got to this state of being able to play), but I'm not quite sure I'm willing to bother with it more -- I'm kind of reaching the limits of my willing to fuss with a game to make it work. No fault on anyone's part, mind. Perhaps I'll see if it works any better on a different computer, but I doubt that will be today or even this weekend -- I can only stand so much troubleshooting. LOL.I can still play if I'm willing to keep the STS wiki open to read card details, but I'm still unaware of my health, gold, or my enemy's condition, etc. So I may decide to keep the game around anyway, even if it's only for something to mess around with.

Re: Battle of the Hunter, 2D endless survival game

Seems a bit of a lost opportunity. You're a hunter killing all these animals trying to eat you, but you're eating fruits and such instead of butchering the animals and using their resources for survival. Sinues to make bowstrings. Flesh to eat. Pelts to wear. Bones to make knife handles and other implements. The horns of applicable beasts to make improved composite bows, etc. It just reminds me of the waste that used to have when hunters would get buffalo by chasing entire herds off of cliffs, then only harvest what they could carry, leaving behind massive piles of flesh to rot and go to waste, the starkest example of human inequity. I know that's not what you're aiming for, but you might consider turning the corpses into resources if you haven't already. Even better, consider a nutrition system where you need to balance vitamin intake. Remember, people who ate only meat died of scurvey. People who eat only fruits and vegetables have iron and calcium deficiencies. The list goes on.Kai

Re: Code 7 - Episodes 2 & 3 Out Now

I'm experiencing the same problem that other players have been discussing:I start up Code 7 and am told I can hit Control + V to enable the blind friendly mode. I've tried hitting the key combination at that prompt, during the loading silence, at the game logo sound before that prompt, and at the menu screen without any result.I've deleted the Goodwolf folder from appdata, as well as done a full reinstall of the game in Steam. There is a sapi DLL in my game plugins folder: "D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Code 7\Code7_Data\Plugins\SAPI_UNITY_DLL.dll"The game did (at one point) work for me with the blind friendly mode, so I'm not sure what changed between now and then (it's been a couple years since I've played the game).I'm not sure what other steps I can take. I don't really wanna mess with reinstalling SAPI voices or anything (especially since they work with Narrator and NVDA just fine).Kai

2020-04-15 Thread AudioGames . net ForumNew releases room : Xvordan via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Little Boss's Lemonade Stand is updated in version 0.6.1

I like this game. It's neat, simple, a fun take on a classic that I used to play on the Apple 2, and a very good first release. I have some observations and suggestions below, in case you're interested. If you need help getting sounds for anything, hit me up and I'll do what I can to contribute. As an aside, I love how you say the word blue in your logo.*Accessing the options menu whilst in a game locks you into that function until and unless you choose one of the menu items and interact with it accordingly. For example, I had to choose       "Set speed play mode" then answer "no" to the prompt before it would return me to the game. The escape key should work here to return you to the game, in the event the player accessed the options menu by accident, or decides he doesn't actually want to make any changes. The credits contain a lot of links that the player might want to visit. It is however very slightly too cumbersome to digest because of all the http info. I suggest you abbreviate the spoken URL's, then copy the fully text of the credits to the clipboard so that they can paste this info elsewhere so as to be able to select referenced links. If it's possible, consider adding alt+f4 as a shortcut to engaging the quit game option. In the event a player wishes to restart his game, rather than having to quit the game and reopen the program, consider adding in a restart game menu item.I'd like the weather function to have a forecast for the next day's weather, if at possible. The game could weigh the probability of an accurate forecast based on difficulty (90%, 80%, and 60% for Easy, Challenging, and Difficult, respectively).Given that the Proceed to Checkout option is right there in the menu, is there any chance the prompt to go to checkout could be disabled? It's just another level of tedium when I'm buying multiple things and have to answer that prompt every time.I personally found the menu scroll sound to be a bit too invasive (especially since you're always going to hear it). You might consider doing what I did and lowering the volume by quite a bit, as it tended to step over screen reader speech.Little tiny surface touchup suggestions:The tablet should have its own menu enter / exit sounds, just to give it a more distinct feel -- you're now interacting with your tablet, not thinking about your activities. There should be a sound for turns where a shipment arrives (door bell?).A weather appropriate sound loop that plays as you're selling lemonade. This should only play while you're actually selling lemonade, not while you're selecting preparation options.Kai

I can't afford this game, and the publishers are AAA, and the game's been out for a while, and it's my computer, and you're not even a mod anymore, and I really wanted to play the game, and I didn't want to spend the money on the official game, and I hate Steam, and it should still work on my version since it's all the same files (I'm sure), and anyway who are you to tell me what I can and can't do? I expect you to make your mod work with my game, no matter how I obtained it, ASAP. It's unfair that you're only supporting people who you think actually bought the game. Re: SoniFight v1.1.5 released and paid user trial starts Monday

You're awesome. I'm looking forward to trying this out! Just gotta go brave the infected world to do a spot of grocery shopping, then I'll be back in to give it the ol' tweezing. This comes as a very welcome surprise, too, as I just recently bought and modded my new (replacement for a broken model) fight stick. Still need to get in to the buttons to place the silencing rings, but I've replaced the default plastic ball top with my aluminium version I bought for the previous fight stick, swapped out the weak default spring for  a four pound monster that honestly feels slightly too tight as I adapt to it (I was previously using a two pound spring), exchanged the actuator for a slightly enlarged version which limits the travel distance of your fight stick, and replaced the square gate with an octagonal gate (because I mainly play Zangief, and I still hate 360 motions on a square gate... yes, I'm a gate-riding scrub). I meant to replace the art, but haven't bothered finding an artist to do that yet, so it's the default and horrendous artwork for now.SF4, here we come again.Kai

Re: New SoniFight, Paid User Trials and maybe MK 10 and 11

I'm not having any luck scanning SF4 for combo data. I've tried doing a bite search to see if it stores your combo count as a number with no success. I've tried searching for a test string, too, with similar failure. I might do a bit more testing today, since I think having Sonifight tell us combo stats would be awesome.Would you be able to detect counter hit states? The game doesn't have any sound for that in either SF4 or SF5. In SF5 you do get sounds for crush counters, but not counter hits if you interrupt someone with a medium punch, for example. This is important, as a counter hit opens up big combo opportunities.Kai

Are there any games you need a contributed version to work on? Soul Calibur 6? SF5? Marvel Versus Capcom Infinite? Injustice 2? Killer Instinct? DBFZ? Some of those other titles I haven't actually purchased due to price concerns (DBFZ, for example), but I wouldn't mind contributing towards you getting the game to work on.

The values are 0, 1, and 2, with ultra combo 1 being 0 (if I remember correctly). I was able to find the values, but could do the rest of the process to find pointers. Thanks,Kai

Re: Pitch Black: The 'AAA' Audio Game

See? This is why we can't have nice things.I don't understand why we're villifying Pitch Black, just because they asked for volunteer voice work. VO can often cost a lot, and lets face it, it's not like the kickstarter won 100,000 pounds or anything even close. If they did clearly express in the beginning that it was volunteer gratis work, no one should feel short changed.I also don't understand why we jump to the conclusion that the kickstart funds were spent on a brand new spiffy looking office. I'm pretty sure that the money raised wouldn't have been enough for that kind of endeavour, so yes, the space ovbiously would have to have been donated in the way they describe.Rather than seeking proper answers, it sounds like people decided to jump the gun and blame, rather than politely contacting them and asking, and so I close with my opening statement: This is why we can't have nice things.Kai

Man. I've been watching play through's of Mountain Blade and I wish we could play something like that in an accessible form. Even if all it meant was that we could create battle formations in Warsim with actual archers, cavalry, infantry, etc. I know the battle update is coming, so I'm hoping this is something planned, because I really would love being able to set up my own unit group arrangements, all while having to pay attention to the terrain. Fighting on open terrain? The archers and cavalry will be much more effective. Fighting in mountainous or hilly terrain? The home kingdom will have an innate advantage since they'll likely have the height bonus. Fighting in forests? Archers and cavalry will be less effective, and infantry will reign supreme. Etc.Kai

This update does feel a lot snappier, with the keys in general being much more responsive. The game does still delay for quite a long time between room introduction and room title, though. You get the blurb on visiting a room for the first time, then it delays for like 2 or 3 seconds before saying you have arrived at x.A feature I wish would've been added in this update is using the arrow keys as navigation shortcuts. Up takes the north exit (if there is one), down takes the south, right takes east, and left takes west. It's a little thing, but it would make navigating through areas you've already been familiarized with so much faster.Kai
