Haramir wrote:Hello! I begun playing this game yesterday and it seems prety good. The only thing that seems confusing at first is how the occupants of the rooms are listed before the exits. Perhaps if we can have one per line, it would be easier. Thoughts?best regards, Haramir.I think that's fairly standard as people look to the end to see the exits. Anyway, here are some short cut commands:WHO HERE - will list everyone in the roomEXITS or X - will list just the exits. Thanks and I'm always interested in feedback!

Lusternia: Age of Ascension

Lusternia: Age of Ascension

I'm the producer of Lusternia which is a multi-user online text game (MUD). Lusternia is set in a multi-planar realm where factions struggle to amass reservoirs of magical energy simply to survive. Within the Basin of Life, an alien evil has corrupted much of the land and people, making Lusternia a broken and perilous place. With the return of those Elder Gods who escaped the ancient divine wars, a new age of uncertainty dawns. So if you are interested in bashing, PVP, quests and of course roleplaying, please check us out! http://www.lusternia.com/Connection: lusternia.comport: 23

Re: Lusternia: Age of Ascension

When I was a player, I didn't consider myself a great actor spewing forth Shakespearean prose. Rather, I just talked as I normally would about things in-game and never had an issue. Anyway, the Lusternia admin generally don't enforce or monitor everyone's RP -- it's more certain players who are sticklers about that type of thing. Some more than most!

Re: Lusternia: Age of Ascension

Fair enough! Some people enjoy the community and roleplay aspect and some don't. I will note that while in-game you are supposed to play a role (wizard, warrior, etc.), many players are OOC in clan chats, etc.

Re: Lusternia: Age of Ascension

For visually impaired, we have a special screenreader command (CONFIG SCREENREADER ON/OFF) which will disable MXP and ANSI colour, suppress ASCII art and some quests that rely on ascii art will have alternate quests (not that many quests have been converted and we are experimenting with this feature). We recommend VIPMUD (http://www.gmagames.com/vipmud.shtml) rather than our online client for visually impaired (though I'm sure everyone here is probably familiar with that client!).Spam is an issue for everyone, of course! We do have a skill (obliviousness) in the Discipline skillset which cuts down on spam (i.e., only see your commands or yours and the target). I've talked to one of our visually impaired players and he said he just prefers to use vipmud and gag or substitute certain spam. As for maps, while you can turn maps off, we do not have an alternative to it other than memory, though in Lusterni
a teleportation is a big thing which helps in navigation. In the old days most MUDs didn't have ascii maps so I don't think that's a big deal.Iron Realms has several notable visually impaired players, some of whom are the top combatants. In fact, one of the lead coders in Iron Realms' Achaea (who began as a player) is visually impaired so we are very conscious of these issues.
