I always feel like such a cranky old lady yelling at people to get off of her lawn when people say that they won't play a mud without a soundpack.Back in my day...I had to walk up muds both ways with telnet and not realizing that I could have turned on local echo in preferences to be able to read what I was typing. All we had was a sword and no spoon!I will try Fed 2 again. Without the navigation system that you can get with some toads, how did you find the space navigation on its own?

Imagine my surprise to realize that I still had an account on SL.I downloaded the client and am logged in, working my way through the guide and hoping that some of this comes back to me for sure.I think that it is important for people to realize that this is different from a game. I can't tell you how much games like this have helped my anxiety in terms of having something from simple to complex and the beauty of routine and repetitive action that helps me remain calm. That has been a nice bonus.Could someone give me pointers on Trimps? I have been trying but I don't find the structure to be intuitive. I also got in a weird loop where I could not build, even though the buttons were available. I couldn't fire workers, gather wood, etc. Perhaps I am missing something.

The other thing to keep in mind is that often, mushes don't quibble about such things as levels. There are benefits and drawbacks to both sides. Recently, I have heard rumblings about an rp mush that has all the things I love about mush rp and all the things I appreciate about mud coding mixed in to one place. Thanks for posting. This thread makes me ridiculously happy.I played 3K a very long time ago in like 2005 or maybe 204.  I had a bard character and it was so much fun. I  also played the secretive breed, and even once you are in the guild, the quests just get harder. It's very cool, though, if you have the patience.I have forgotten so much, but this post answers so many questions and has made me fall in love with the game all over again.So thank you, original poster. You sound like a gamer after my own heart.I didn't realize the differences between 3k and 3S.  I would love to play again, but now I don't know which one to play or even what guild. What am I going to do? Quick, someone help me choose.I am also a social butterfly.  It is hard for me to play a game without having someone to chat with.  I swear, I'm not annoying. Well, I probably am, but we'll just keep that to ourselves.I  love support classes
 , but I also like solo play, but I also like being useful in a party. I especially love the idea of being able to summon, or have minions. Quick, someone, be my brain!

This game looks so great, but the thing that holds me back is that it deals with systems that I am utterly unfamiliar with.  I want to just start out and easily choose stuff.  Stat rolling and the like tends to feel a little insurmountable to me, but I'll give it a go.  You have a lot of systems and updates that look great.

I haven't played a lot of the IRE games, but I have been a roleplayer for years and years. In regards to roleplaying, I think that some of you may be overthinking it.  One of the things I really like about IRE is how it isn't really hard to get in to the character that you are playing.  It seems to suck you in easily enough and quickly without having to be familiar with a lot of lore beforehand.the various examinations by the houses seem to be more about helping someone acclimate to their new surroundings by allowing you to go at your own rate than it is about trying to make things hard for someone to get involved in.  I much prefer that style than say the  roleplay muds that require you to do a lot of reading and plotting things out before you even have an opportunity to find out more about the inner workings of play.  I tend to want to jump in without feeling as though I need to practically memorize the wikipedia of greatne
 ss surrounding a game.But this is from an outsider's perspective, really.  I don't even know which game to start with, and it does seem a bit overwhelming, but complexity can be a beautiful thing.  I think I'll give this place a shot.I'm a social butterfly, so this type of play seems like it would be right up my alley.My question would be just how much does one need to know and use in the way of triggers in order to be successful in both combat and general play?
