Also curious about "hand in the fire". It sounds like a last resort if you get too many "rust" or "weed" cards in the hand, and it's only moderately useful as you would prefer not to have to sacrifice too many useful cards.

Re: Crazy Party: mini-games and card battle! (beta75)

I have personally found plant/rock to be the easiest combination to start with, but I don't know about this beta. Also I don't know what to think about ephemeral cards. When I heard of it I thought they could give more usefulness to Souvenir and Natural Indemnity. Perhaps that one could be played more as getting level 1 in normal isn't as hard as before, and Souvenir could be neat in the case of some ephemeral + Combo cards you may want to play again. The funiest thing I managed to do with Souvenir is to play two Flash of Genius, and then Souvenir into another double flash of genius, but I'm not sure how efficient that really is in the grand scheme of things. But it shows Psychic type is really made to support pretty much any deck, with passive intervention, double check and whatnot.

Re: Pokémon access

Hello everyone,I have only played Roaming Red and Red DX so far but encountered the same things in both of them, so I figured I may ask if someone encountered the same problems in regular Red and Blue.In maps such as Mt. Moon, Rock Tunnel or Safari Zone, do you encounter a bug with the path finder which tells you to take a certain path you technically can't, and you have to find another one? For example telling you "3 down" but you can't go down anymore and that's not due to boulder/bush/water?Did you also encounter the bug at 2nd floor in Pokemon Mention, the one where there is a hole and the path finder finds cliff that are very unlikely to be on the map, and as such crashes when using P?

OK there might be better places to ask this, but, in beta 74, are the passive effect cards such as Iron hand really supposed to provide the same buffs as before? Because when placed in the back line, it seems pretty rare for their effect to apply, sometimes the damage dealt won't change at all.

Re: Pokémon access

Well, Red++ isn't really supported, but if one is searching for something a bit similar though with slightly less modern mechanics, most notably no physical/special split, I would advise checking out Red and Blue Dx. Beware, as I'm not certain it would be perfect in all places, like Roaming Red regarding Mt. Moon and Pokemon Mention for example. But so far it seems fine, just no footsteps. But as said numerous times already, they aren't that important. They just would be cool for finding tall grass, especially in places where I usually have trouble finding it, like route 24/25.Anyways, huge thanks to my friend @pika-san for the discovery.

Re: Pokémon access

@techmaster20: I have the same problem, when you are in the file list press p and if you don't here a Windows sound press enter, and if it sends you back to the Lua script dialog, press run. At worst, type the complete file path in the edit field, if you are familiar with that. But still, if anyone knows how to fix it, that would be appreciated. As for my experience with hacks:-Roaming Red seems to work perfectly fine, didn't explor the whole game as of now but the only problem I've found is in the Pokemon Mention, on a certain floor, the path finder finds cliffs which are probably out of maps and using it makes the scripts crash. I don't know if it is different in regular Pokemon Red.As for Red++, it seems that this problem is in the whole game, the path finder can't focus on the current map and pressing P crashes the scripts. Didn't try the hard version but I guess it may probably be the same thing. It is the same that happened when someone tried to adapt the scripts for Polished Crystal when I asked it on their discord, a year ago or so.Again, just thought I would share my experience here in case someone would be interested in figuring stuff out.

OK, so the modifications I made for both Roaming Red and Red++ (hard version) in the "hack.lua" file should be fine, and I created folders for both using content from the "red_blue" folder. It still doesn't work, throwing the "language not supported" error. So I guess I might have to modify the script files, either the "main.lua" or the ones in the "En" folder. Is that so and if so, what do you recommand I verify? Would the scripts still launch if the only problem came from, say, the path finder?

Would usually do so until the pokemon league and then have that Kadabra teleport me back so that I could ditch one of the two, then I would only keep Surf on Vaporeon and Waterfall on Feraligatr for example.

More or less the results I expected, given Polished Crystal is the most tweaked of the three, if the experience with Crystal Access is any indication. My guess is since Pokemon Access was made to support more than one game, it doesn't have a default game to refer to if something is not supported. What could be good is if the player could choose what should be refered to in that case, but it may very well not be possible due to LUA, the emulator or both. @Dragonlee: Yup, you summed it up perfectly. Hell, the entire stream is even available on Youtube and I started watching it but I eventually gave up as move animations were quickly disabled and so I couldn't really tell what was going on.I remember my first battle against falkner. Used my Doduo against is Pidgeoto (or was it a Pidgeot?), and we both decided to use sky attack at the same time. Pidgeoto missed and Doduo hit, probably was an OHKO. Then I did the same against his Glygar, it was a critical which almost ended up with another OHKO. And I was like, OK, it's the first gym battle in Johto and it's completely over the top, but I like it.Dodrio learns Drill Peck much later and I was like, well, since it is overall a better move, I guess it kind of makes sense. From what I remember, Polished Crystal for example is more ordinary when it comes to movepools though they were of course altered. But then with special abilities being a thing you can get a Scyther with technician before the third gym and it's quite a monster. To be fair it also applies to Heart Gold and Soul Silver so in that regard, it's not a problem.

Though, for this one, the movesets were altered in a way so that availability for some moves can also take the player by surprise. For example Rapidash learns such things as Iron Tail and Wild Charge via level up which I'm not sure it does even on the more recent games, same with Espeon learning Dazzling Gleem and quite a few flying type learning heat wave.

I remember using it before the E4 to turn my Starmi into what Jayde rightfully calls "death star".

As far as I know, the Special Pikachu Edition is the normal version and advanced 2019 is a rom hack which, while it seems good, is quite different. Given the problem you are facing I'm not sure whie the advanced 2019 version would work better, but you can try it I guess. As for your problem, unless the processor on your machine is like really slow, it shouldn't have problems emulating the gameboy. If it only stutters when using a command tied to the scripts it can unfortunately happen sometimes but I'm not sure there is much I can do to help.

Re: Return to the world of Manamon in Manamon 2: The Eternal Requiem

Like others before me, I want to say congratulation for the new release. I started playing the demo and I'm enjoying it so far. I don't know yet if I will purchase the game, I enjoyed the first one a lot but one of my main griefs with it was that moveset customisation was a bit lacking, with no equivalent to tms from Pokemon, which seems to also be the case in the sequel. Also there were only very few equipment pieces to learn moves. However, given that Manamon are no longer genderless, there may be some mechanics with breeding that may satisfy my wish for moveset customisation at least partially. My purchase decision will very likely depend on what I learn about it by the end of the demo.A part from that, the game seems pretty good, and the soundtrack is especially very good though I didn't really expect anything else.

Hello everyone,I just wanted to say a big thank you to Morokuma for such an awesome game. I didn't play that much for the moment, I had my first monster, a Sky Ringer called Staraptor which is a bit more than three years old, it is at rank B in everything except colyseum where it's at rank S. It's at the period where it should consider retirement, well I guess it wasn't too bad for my first monster. Also big thanks to all the composers who have more or less directly contributed to the soundtrack. My favourite so far is Entrance Hall, but I couldn't listen to all of them so far. When it comes to Soleil-Musique for example, I couldn't get any download link to activate on their website. Also just for curiosity, is the song you hear during birthdays a traditional japanese song for birthdays or has it been composed for the game?

Wow I did try the new ice type changes and it's indeed ridiculous, especially all that avalanche stuff. I agree with Zarvox, I guess some cards should have a description element that says "requires the launcher's starting hp to be equal or superior to *insert number*". I mean, the only way I can justify such stuff is for battles with enormous amounts of hp.

@Morokuma: I also think launch conditions for this card are quite severe, especially compared to some other powerful new cards. Ancient time for exemple only requires the ancient ruin environment, and though the confusion lasts for only one or two turns, it's still quite mean. Even moreso if you have a psychic/rock double type with wrap ray. Well, at least it will be a way to shorten battles with several thousands of hp.Also sorry for repeating myself, but I really can't stop considering static cards with a dammage multiplier as overpowered. There must be a thing I haven't understood with said cards really. I mean, Acid Rain only requires the rain environment to be set, steamblast doesn't require an environment or any particular setup except level 14 in steel type.

So I had the occasion to try some new cards especially with steel type and they are pretty cool, you gotta love that laser machinegun a.k.a. continuous laser, but the nastiest new steel type card is steam blast, 3 magical power but with a damage multiplier of 6. It might actually be a bit overpowered for a level 14 card, it does 30 damage on neutral I believe, and 24 without same- type-attack-bonus. Also it has 100% accuracy. I guess it was introduced because many powerful steel type cards have some drawbacks and/or require a much higher level, but still I wonder if it will stay as  it is. Yet again, I don't really know the online metagame.

Also, for missing sounds on some new cards, I don't necessarily think it is a bug, perhaps Pragma didn't make sounds for said cards yet. For example you can check your health and the level of the pokemon during a battle whereas I'm pretty sure you can't in Polished Crrystal. On the other way, pretty much everything related with start menu isn't read in Red++ while it technically is in Polished Crystal, though not really the right way.

It has more pokemon than the original, new moves (though no new animations for said moves), all types, some property changes for some moves, pokemon have genders, shiny pokemons, etc. And as of version 3.0, the author somehow converted the sound engine from Gen 2 to use in this game, which can be good or bad depending on which move you use. Most importantly, it means pokemon from Gen 2 have their own cries, which is cool. So, it's somewhat the Gen 1 equivalent of Polished Crystal, like Roaming Red is more or less the Gen 1 equivalent of Crystal Clear. Red++ V4 will actually use Polished Crystal as a basis, if I remember correctly.

What I wanted to do as I don't understand japanese was to activate youtube subtitles and then use the NVDA Translate addon to have it all translated in French, and while it technically worked, it tried to translate the same sentence too many times and was quickly overloaded.

Wow, I have missed what has been going on lately with this game. Still hyped for the release, even moreso as there will be an English translation. I can't help but feel a bit sad as dual-wielding was dropped, but I guess implementing it in a cool way with many weapon-combinations would have been one hell of a challenge. A combo system with one button can still be fine, I found the one in Gekiransen too simple for my taste, but if you can use a different skill with each arrow key, that should help.I wonder if skills will depend on the weapon, if it's the case I assume you would have to level up the mastery for each type of weapon. Also, if there is verticality like in BK3, hopefully many enemies will be able to benefit from it, like the mini-demons that could climb trees.I didn't listen to the archived stream yet, so I guess I may be able to find the answer to some of my questions by myself.

Re: Pokémon Crystal Access

@Pika-san: Did something break when using a cheat code? I'll post the instruction if Fredd is still interested.Using a code should normally be fine, but I recommand you do at least save your game, or do a save-state or both before entering a code. When your game is loaded, go to the cheat menu, and select the option that says "view cheat list". Press Tab until you find the "add gameshark button". There are two edit box, the first one is to enter a description of the code and the other is to enter the code itself, though it might be the reverse, but if the code isn't valid the emulator will flash an error anyway.Pretty easy from there, and simply go back to the cheat list and press the "disable all button" when you are done with the cheats. I would also do it each time before I save, just in case, but it may not have an impact. You can also save that cheat list in .clt format so you don't have to enter codes each time.Simply remember, if you are using the cheat to walk through walls in Pokemon Crystal for example, you have to make sure you don't go beyond the edges of the map, otherwise the game will severely break, you should here it. In the scenario of using this code, make a save-state before proceeding and reload if it breaks. If you follow what the path finder indicates to you for finding an exit for example, you should stay in the map. Sometimes you have to disable that code a few steps before exiting, or the map won't be exited correctly and the game will break.I hope I could help.

It is a fairy-type card called "revitalizing dream". I never tried it but Psychic/Fairy isn't bad, so I could try Hypnosis+Rest+Revitalizing Dream for example. Playing it with Cocoon instead of Rest is better but probably also much more complicated, even with symbols.I have a normal/psychic deck that partially revolve around Swagger+Cephalalgia/Wrap Ray/Muscular Cramp, it doesn't seem so bad. Also, Precalculus+Hypnotic Dice+Dream Eater can be quite fun when you can make it happen.Edit: Using Cocoon+Revitalizing Dream  is probably not that complicated if your deck revolves more around Fairy than Insect.

With the path finder, instead of searching for Violet City itself, search for something that should say "Route 31 - Violet Gate". Once you find it, you will reach an outpost, continue West and you will be in Violet City. Try and search for gates like this when it tells you there is no path when searching for a connexion between two places.

Re: Pokémon Crystal Access

In fact someone tried to adapt it for Polished Crystal yesterday, but unfortunately it wasn't a success. He did manage to somewhat fix the path finder at some point, but it was a very partial fix, in Mahogany it would find 173 warps for example, which I suspect might be the total number of warps there are in the game, or in Johto. Pressing P would result in an instant crash. And the harder he tried, the less it worked, and at the current state it seems to not work at all.He said he had no idea how to fix the footstep function because Polished Crystal is handling movement permission in a completely different way. Finally, to make things less frustrating, he asked me if he would need a screen reader to debug it himself, I said he could use NVDA, and turns out he isn't using Windows. If I have further news, I will tell you, but for the moment that first attempt was a failure and seems compromized. Not blaming anyone, it is not as if I would manage to fix it myself.

Re: Pokémon Crystal Access

@Zersiax: Normally it should work well even on Windows 10, just make sure your numlock is disabled, otherwise Crystal Access won't be able to intercept keys for the path finder and other informations. Also I am playing both Polished Crystal Beta 3.0 and Red Plus Plus 3.0.2, and I was quite a bit surprised as Crystal Access has less trouble with Red Plus Plus. Of course it's not perfect and it can only return text from the game, but is much better than Polished Crystal at doing it, and can return more informations during battles. The main flaw is the start menu and pretty much any submenu in it, so sometimes you have to do some trial and error with savestates.I also asked on the Polished Crystal discord if someone was willing to adapt Crystal Access so that it can work properly with Polished Crystal, and found someone saying he would be willing to try but he is  a bit busy for the moment. So I don't know if it will actually lead to something but I am hopeful. And if it ends also working with the upcoming Red Plus Plus V4 that will use the Polished Crystal engine, it's even better.

@Jayde: For making a deck around music, you could probably do a combination of fairy and normal that revolves around sound surge. I'll have to think more about that though, but with many sound cards, audio therapy and a few other cards to consistantly level up normal type, it may be doable. In fact I have one like that, but it is 80 cards so probably not the best. Still I think it has potential in extremely long battles.

Same, I have a normal/fighting 80 cards deck which has Passive Intervention and Iron Hand that can work well enough, but the others I tried to make generally take too much time to get going. Also the only strategy I can think of for targetting an ally with offensive cards is to attack him physically for moderate damage when he has Bleeding cards, to emplify Blue Blood or whatever he wants to use. Has been used to great effect during Tiflojuegos' Crazy Cup, but I would have to watch it again to be sure.

I guess we all have common memories from this game, like for example when I told my brother I found a Charizard, and it was in fact a Rhyhorn. The games are still a great sound design lesson even 20 years after, though of course the series improved on that more and more.Moves sounded very impressive for a 8-bit RPG, and I have yet to here a rendition of Thunder that sounds as awesome as in Red, Blue and Yellow.I actually found it kind of sad that when you search on Google about Pokemon's accessibility, you tend to find more posts about Pokemon Go not being accessible compared to the franchise being accessible or playable.

What is good with BK3 at least, is that although there is a limit to how many coins you can get, the game doesn't seem to suffer when you have lots of them. In BK2, if you happen to have hundreds of thousands of coins, the game gets stuck for a while when you are trying to buy something. I guess it is because it calculates how many HP you can buy and that's understandably long due to how buying HP works in the game, but I may be wrong. Also, even though the search feature is case-sensitive, it is still fairly easy to use and I never had to scroll too much to find something, though I had to get used to it being case-sensitive.

I can try to explain how I proceed, but it may be kind of hard.Imagine this as some kind of rhythm game. Since the stones are placed three tiles appart from each other, except for the last two who are only two tiles appart, you want to tap the right arrow three times between each bounce, except for the last one where you want to tap it only twice. It goes like this:jump... bounce, tap, tap, tap, bounce, tap, tap, tap, bounce, etc.Of course, tap=right arrow, coma=a quarter of a second, and ellipsis=a second or so.For the last one, you tap twice, with half a second between your second tap and the last bounce. That might be a very hawkward way to explain that, but I can't really do better. I hope it will be useful.

I read the last contributions to the thread, and it's true there are games (both mainstream and audio) who feel short when you finish them, and aren't compelling enough to start another playthrough. At least it seems some efforts are put in that regard, with the different classes you can play as, for example.

Re: Release Date Announcement for A Hero's Call

I am quite interested to see how this game is going to be, but as someone else said, I don't think I will purchase it on day one, I'll wait for something on Youtube or whatever. The aspect for which I'm the most excited about in those cases is that it's real inclusive gaming instead of just audiogaming. Plus it does feel promising and the $20 price feels right, as some audiogames were more expansive and offered not nearly as much content. Now of course how successful the game will be remains to be seen.

In any case, I think falling all the way down is the shortest way without a doubt. Plus it might be the only way if you are playing for the first time as you can't hook down.

Re: Bokurano Daibouken 3 : secondary topic

I must admit I wasn't very clear. You indeed have to do it in the reverse order if you start from 0 and go above. Of course if you start from 400 you have to do it in the right order.

Re: Bokurano Daibouken 3 : secondary topic

Yes I did, and though I did take some time it didn't feel that long. Still I would grind for one or two mega shooters each day at max, and then stop playing until the next day. I didn't use the megaton hammer very much, but I may be a very good option indeed.

Re: Bokurano Daibouken 3 : secondary topic

I believe I used the Omega Shooter for the first one and the Sky Shooter for the rest of them. In Nyanchan's playthrough they use the Super Yo-Yo, it might work a bit better than the triple.
