@ambiramus Achievement Enabler, when activated, allows you to get achievements. You'll probably have to re-earn the ones you should have received before (so in terms of unlocking the fourth character, sorry you probably have to beat the game as the other three again). Sorry for the inconvenience, I thought I put the fact you needed Achievement Enabler in the readme but apparently it's not there. I'll fix this for the next beta which is coming soon.@thetasigma Can you please post the log even if you resolve the issue? I may be able to fix it even if it is a mod conflict.

Hey so I don't think it's quite as simple as immediately teleporting to the center when you release a direction. You do seem to quickly correct towards the center so I think you are actually moving, at least to some degree.

Okay in that case, run slay the Spire without mods and see if your controller works there. If it does then there's an issue with Say the Spire and I'll look into it. If not I think it's an issue with the controller, your steam settings, or the game itself.

Hey, that is an issue with the game and not with the mod itself. You may have to use DS4Windows or some other software to get the controller working, see some earlier posts in this thread. I'd honestly suggest people reporting this to the game's developers, this happens to a lot of people.

The black screen issue is kind of baffling though, are you sure your computer meets the minimum specs for the game? Do you have multiple graphics cards? Also make sure the full screen setting in options is off if you can (it should be by default)

Ah, that looks like an issue with CommunicationMod (used by Text the Spire and a few other mods, Say the Spire doesn't use it). Try disabling that and see if the problem continues. It should also theoretically stop the problem where dying will crash the game.

Can you paste the crash log? You can usually find it in your steam slayTheSpire/send to devs/logs folder, the file you want is SlayTheSpire.log. Failing that, if it crashes again, can you copy the output log from Mod the Spire if Mod the Spire is still open?

I've recently started work on keyboard support and the general framework is about half done. I still won't promise a specific release date but I'm hoping it'll be done within the next few weeks. I have had a very busy semester.There are instructions on how to set it up, check the github link for the instructions. Setting it up via the steam workshop doesn't require much.

I'm a little unsure how to progress though. I have all of the physical stats at 40 or so and I have all of the second tier of armor (all enhanced to 10) and I'm still struggling to survive any area other than the plains. Enhancing the sword also didn't seem to boost damage or anything so I'm not sure what's going on there.

Make sure you have the achievement enabler mod active. You have to beat the game with the first 3 characters (while that mod is active, so if you've completed the game with a character with the mod off you have to do it again unfortunately). Having any mods enabled disables achievements by default; the achievement enabler mod fixes that.

Check Camlorn's post above though, have any of you been to input settings by accident and possibly remapped your inputs unintentionally? Stay away from that screen for now.

If that's happening you possibly have an issue with steam's controller settings. Try restarting your computer and steam and see if that fixes the issue. also some of those options only work at certain points of the game, for example the draw pile will only trigger in a battle.Regarding java, you do not need to install java because the game is already bundled with a java installation that it uses.

regarding the map, it's left and right on the right stick to move between choices, it's up/down to follow a path forward or backwards. The left stick only controls the node you're selecting next, you can't just skip forward or backward a bunch of rows. The right stick effectively lets you look ahead like you could if you were sighted; the left stick/d-pad allows you to pick the first step on your path to move to next (independently of the right stick).

You can click on raw and then hit ctrl s to save it. I'm going to provide a more direct link to that file. If you are downloading mods from the steam workshop you don't need a mods folder; you only need a mods folder if you are manually installing the mods.

@mojsior Sorry, I should have put this in the readme but I've only encountered this problem once; I didn't think it would be an issue in future. Apparently if you don't launch the game from steam directly (either from the steam program or the start menu shortcut for a game), it won't interact with Steam's cloud API. If you're running the game via Mod the Spire which is a separate program, it doesn't automatically upload your data to the steam cloud. Therefore when you switched computers it used old steam cloud data. To fix this in future, run the game independently and use OCR to upload data whenever you want to transfer computers or back up.@Xvordan You will need the right stick in order to access the mod's buffer and map viewing systems, unless you can find a way to remap. You need something for navigation (either left stick or d-pad), the four face buttons and four triggers, another button for settings, another button for a map key, and a right stick click and movement. Eventually you will need to be able to map something equivalently to pressing in the left stick, too.

Regarding strategies, don't be afraid to attempt nonconvensional ones. Treat hp as a resource to be spent, for example it's often better to just not defend on the odd numbered (9 damage) phases of the sentries fight and gain block on the 18 damage phases. This is because in the long term you defeat a sentry more quickly, preventing more dazeds being being added to your dek and taking less damage overall.After one sentry is down, keep track of which one is not attacking this turn and kill that one first.Since you're garunteed to take damage from the one that is going to attack in the short term (unless you get ridiculously lucky with some ards/relics) then taking out the non-attacking one is better for the long term.

@camlorn just to clarify, the block 3 when reading enemy names means the enemy has 3 block, not the player. I intentionally haven't made everything the enemy does read because it would in some cases take forever. For example there is an enemy that attacks 15 times in sequence and there isn't an easy way to combine them into a statement saying that due to how the game's code is structured. I plan to make this a bit better later on, maybe with some config options. Also as far s I know my mod reads all of the attack names that are visible.@defender I'm working on figuring something out for enemy/card art descriptions, it may take time though.

ah, @Lirin I think you may have a bug with the game itself. I know some of my beta testers also had weird results when trying to change settings. Where is your game installed, is it the default location? If so you should report this to the Slay the Spire developres.(Edit)It seems I was wrong, apparently hitting right trigger in options is literally programmed to exit the game (which in turn crashes BaseMod as a side effect). That is incredibly weird and I didn't know about this. I can fix the mod reporting the wrong prompt on my end though.(/Edit)

@Lirin This actually appears to be a BaseMod bug (a mod that Say the Spire depends on). I uninstalled Say the Spire and the game still crashes in the same way. Thanks for reporting it, I'll try to let the BaseMod developer know. Also let me know if you can cause any other crashes on similar screens.This bug shouldn't be a problem for now, you don't have to hit rt to save your settings. Just hitting circle/b to back out of the settings menu is enough to save them.

Sorry for the confusion with the readme, I have updated it it and the installation and setup steps should be more clear. I was also wrong about the itch.io version of the game; I thought someone I know was playing the game with it but it turns out it was the steam version and there is no itch.io version (I think there may have been one in the past and it was removed). The only supported version of the game as of now is the Steam version. If the mod does work on other platforms, such as the version of the game on game pass, please let me know.

@nolan steam workshop allows you to upload user content for a game (mods, guides, videos, etc) and I think it lets you upload your own games too somehow which can have their own pages. If you install the game then go to the steam workshop link in the first post and click subscribe, steam should automatically download the mod. Launching it is another matter (I forgot to provide a link for the easier cmd file, to use as a shortcut). I'll update the readme to make that clearer. For now if you follow the second step for getting the game to run it should work.@blindndangerous I'm planning on implementing the ability to read the leaderboards. I can't do anything about the game preventing your runs from being posted to them though unfortunately.
