Re: Is there a keyboard command to label item, nvda?

I don't know if the current extension is capable of doing this, but it would be great if it did. I remember System Access had something similar, but it never explained how you should label something if you couldn't see what it did, unless you had to guess based on viewing the DOM explorer or viewing the source.I just started studying the Deque University courses thanks to a scholarship, and I downloaded their Axe automated accessibility testing extension. You also earn CAEC points to take or renew your IAAP certification.

Well, here is the best article for you.And I do eventually believe we can change the Mars atmosphere if we grew lots of trees and stuff, but while we wait for Earth's climate to recover into global cooling, we will have to live there. Then our future generations can go back to Earth once again.I heard George Carlin's Save the effing planet speech, by the way. Surprisingly, he predicted, or merely implied, that we would get into a pandemic.

This article explains a little bit about the microphones onboard Perseverence. I surely hope NASA can make those sound files available so we can experience the EDL landing, the rover's motors, and possibly what Mars sounds like! It would be different with only CO2 being the kind of atmosphere. If I understand correctly, NASA is covered under FOIA, so they have to release almost everything to the general public, unless it involves something controversial. But from what I understand, they have an FTP site.

Re: Monitoring of Google Chrome and fire fox on a school laptop

Back when I was in middle school, I sometimes got away with installing games from various places and installed them on my school's laptop. I can't remember what they were doing with it exactly, but they made it in such a way that I could install things on it, though normally I wouldn't be able to install programmes because it was a user account on a network. However, they probably forgot to change those permissions, so I was able to install anything I wanted. I can't remember if I uninstalled them when I turned in my laptop for the summer. Nobody ever commented on that. That was when we had Windows XP.And, in high school, I sometimes brought my MiFi card with me so I could get past Websense and watch stuff on YouTube or go on Facebook. I sometimes did that in cognito, which also came without problems. That was when we had Windows Seven. But now we have more advanced cloud services, like using In Tune, which can be used to remotely wipe a computer, as someone had just commented.I sometimes also got away with taking ownership of smaller pieces of corporate property by pealing off the barcode sticker when I was in elementary school, and because they had so many of those, nobody noticed. Still, I would just be careful about what you do, but if you do find yourself in a legal battle, I would find an attorney who knows how to handle school issues.

You would mount your iDevice on top of the machine and sing into a microphone. Now, I use a mixer, microphone, and speakers to do the karaoke, and it works!

I actually believe that the rich should pay higher taxes to help the poor, but then the rich will hate us for having to make them pay more. Well, they can afford to, can they not? It's those in the middle and lower class who can't, and raising taxes would allow us to better allocate our funds to help build a basic healthcare system that can be accessed because I believe that basic healthcare is a right. And, because of COVID, I think healthcare will become the centre of foreign policy.I don't support or oppose abortions lightly. I believe there is a right time and a right place for that. But as soon as ectogenesis gets here, we won't have to worry about that any longer. Besides, consider Rowe versus Wade. That was a pretty landmark case that sparked a lot of debate. Also, the International Space Station has a pretty independent life support system. They use plenty of renewable resources to live for long periods of time. If we can achieve this at a macro level scale, then we can create newer industries that won't have too much impact on the environment. Also, a company here in Oregon has designed a generator that works on the booey principle with little to no impact on marine wildlife. The waves will simply expand and contract a set of bellows that will allow it to spin a turbine constantly.I'm not opposed to deporting illegal immigrants, but I believe there are more humane ways to deal with them than our current practices i.e. splitting up families, detaining children, etc.Not all democrats are liberals, and not all republicans are conservatives. @532 Make that trumpets.I'm so glad it's finally over! Even though the counting is still going on, Biden is sure to secure the presidency. No doubt that many legal battles will shortly ensue, as some already have been started a few days ago.I actually had a dream yesterday morning, which was as follows:It was where I was talking to a friend I met four years ago , and Biden had won the election. I cannot remember everything about it, though, but it seems like we were having a post-election party because we were celebrating his win. I think I brought up the subject of self-driving cars, though. We were seated at a round table in her kitchen. I also found it ironic that Trump, who desperately wanted to win, told some kids about why he had lost, and he acted so matter-of-fact about it. I also held onto a rope, but then I realised that it was a snake! I could actually hear it hiss. That was a very weird dream indeed, but the interesting thing was that it came true! I actually called up my friend who was in the dream and told her about it.

Wow, I have the Xenyx1622FX, and I hear a buh-chick, buh-chick, buh-chick come through the phone connector when I plug in my Audiotechnica Broadcast stereo headset! I also heard this humming sound at around 200 Hz.I'm having lots of problems getting my signals to go the way I want them to, so I am thinking of swapping it out for a different mixer.

I don't think the electoral college has any effect on the senate or house. Popular vote decides that. But all we're doing is waiting to see who will get to at least 270 electoral votes first, which is how much you need to secure the presidency. So, when we vote for our candidates, we're actually pandpicking a group of leaders, called electors, who are already pledged to this or that candidate, and they will meet in their respective states on Monday, 14 December. They will officially cast their votes there, which will be counted a few weeks before the inauguration when the new congress is sworn in.Here's a timeline that explains more about what you can expect. https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/04/politics … index.html

One of my friends who is a liberal agreed that mail-in ballots were a really bad idea from the start because they would take forever to count, and now look at where we are at. I mean, it's possible for people to remain physically distant while voting in person, using tablets, voting machines, or using drop-off sites. But whatever method we used would have to be protected by tight security measures to fight back fraude. And I'm really fortunate to live in a state that uses the OMNI noting system that allows you to print your marked ballot. I haven't yet seen  system that actually delivers your ballot for you, although that would be nice, since I currently don't have access to a printer.

I would like to try to focus on blind people intersectionally. Meaning, blind people with hearing loss, blind people in wheelchairs, etc. And of course, blind people from marginalised groups, such as those who come from Spanish-speaking families, or some other language entirely who may be impoverished, especially if they have more than one disabled child. I would like to see more attention on integrating universal design into accessibility. For example, a DeafBlind person may not be able to read Braille, because of their limited communication skills, so they can't use a smart device and a Braile display. They may need some form of facilitated communication with an SSP or certified interpreter to communicate in protactile.

Re: Cat owners, help please?

Have you considered getting a catio? They're pretty small enclosures, but it allows cats to have the best of both worlds. You can also look at a yard rigged with netting or tarps on top of the fence, or maybe put some rolling bars to discourage them from jumping. I read that cats like to keep their footing, so if they step on a rolling bar, they may get discouraged and jump back down.

Re: prepaid vs postpaid cell phone plans?

I actually have a blog post written about this because with post-paid plans, you are actually getting an extension of credit that they will take your word for it that you will pay them back as agreed upon. So, the more creditworthy you are, the more likely you are to get better offers. While they don't report to all three credit bureaus, they do check your credit when you initially set up an account with them, both for the credit check, and also for identity verification. This is what the IRS uses when you need to do business with them. If it asks for a phone number, you must have a record of that phone number with the consumer reporting agency. Here's more information about why post-paid plans are generally better in the long term. I previously thought prepaid plans were better, and that was about six years ago. But after learning about the process of building credit, I realised that there were certain advantages to this, as well.https://www.sensation-experience.com/bl … ould-care/

Re: Lucid dreaming as a blind person

I've been keeping a diary for about ten years now, and it's as simple as using Notepad and writing in plain text format! I really love writing down my dreams and would be happy to share some that I thought were just really weird and bizarre. For instance, I had a dream that incorporated my bed shaker. Since I am hard-of-hearing, I use a vibrating alarm clock. My mother and I found ourselves in a jet-liner, and it took me a while to realise that we were going to land in a different country, so I did my best to sense which way it was flying, and how long we were going to be in the air. After about five minutes, we got into a landing position, and I could hear the pilot explaining everything he was doing, such as how he was lowering the landing gear or adjusting the flaperons to further decrease our speed, and how he kept turning or banking in certain directions to line up with the runway. I did not feel it touch the ground, so I was pretty surprised when I felt it taxi towards the gate. My mother was sitting on my right side, and she appeared to be talking to some people next to her. I think I was in the window seat. I felt the plane bump something on the right side, but we quickly got moving again. I told my mum that she should be prepared in case it was raining where we were. I did not pay attention to the weather conditions the pilot had announced, so I did not know. Then something really bizarre happened. When the plane was finally still, I felt a strong vibration underneath me, and it sounded like the pump the ground crew used to empty out the waste tank that was connected to all the lavatories. When I woke up, though, I realised that the vibration was still going on, so I thought I really was in the plane. Then I quickly figured out that my bed shaker was vibrating, so I turned off the alarm right away.@6, What a coincidence. I had some astral projection dreams myself, and in 2016, I had one that also involved the Eloquence voice. It said something about how our bodies sometimes protected itself from traumatic events by projecting out of the environment, sort of like a defence mechanism. But one thing I noticed was that I'd feel a vibrating or tingling sensation all over my body, followed by whatever tinnitus I was hearing in my ear being horribly amplified, and then I'd find that I could float around my room. I even floated outside my window and found myself climbing trees until I gradually woke up. Recently, I felt my body being really sore, such as my legs or my head, probably because of sleep paralysis, but I somehow felt anchored, meaning that if I tried to astral project, I can't, or maybe because I have resigned myself to the fate of the dream.I once read about a movie in which a guy got into a really bad accident that messed up his brain to the point where he could not tell which life was his real life, since both of them were almost identical. So, he used a system to remind him which side of reality he was on. I can't remember what the movie was called, though.

When I woke up, though, I realised that the vibration was still going on, so I thought I really was in the plane. Then I quickly figured out that my bed shaker was vibrating, so I turned off the alarm right away.

Back when the pandemic began, and I heard about how people were panicking over something that was supposed to be relatively mild, at least those with healthy immune systems, I thought it would have been used as a great opportunity to impact the 2020 election. But then we had the economic impact payment cheques, so I'm not really sure.

Re: Interesting and unconventional uses of audio gear

Right now I am using Studio Recorder, which is okay for some things, but it doesn't have EQ or anything, although it lets you put marks in it and everything. That actually sounds interesting. My audiologist and I once talked about psychoacoustic, and one thing I've noticed was that if I recorded something and used my headphones or earbuds to monitor myself, and then I listened to it with my iPhone's speaker pressed against my right ear (the better ear), I am likely to hear things I've missed when I was wearing headphones. It's as though the higher frequencies are much more noticeable.I'm not sure how having a snuggly-fitting earmould or earbuds would damage hearing, though I suspect that there is a greater chance for earwax to build up, as well as the fact that you're sealing the air pressure caused by the vibrations, so it might slowly put a strain on your eardrums, even though the audio sounds good to you. I actually had an acoustic reflex test done several years ago because there were concerns that I was falling asleep a lot with earbuds in and playing different things.I already use behind-the-ear-style hearing aids, but I've always envied those with in-ear shells because they were almost totally inconspicuous as I didn't want people to yell at me or talk slowly, or even stop talking to me altogether once they found out that I had severe hearing loss, but that's another story.

Well, I suppose I could record at a much lower setting so that the mic wouldn't be as sensitive, but when I go to edit it, I would have to normalise it and or amplify it even more just to be able to hear it. Someone I know recommended that I get a headphone amp or an interface that can boost the volume even more.I personally wouldn't want to spend five or six hours adjusting the recorder's gain while I was recording the kittens, though, but maybe putting it on low for a long period of time, then adjusting it during the post-production stage might work?

@17 and @20, I used   my Book Port Plus on Autogain. I put the ME51s directly inside the nesting box, so as they shifted around, they stepped on the mic and probably a few other things. I would've had to come up with a way to hang it, like they do with stage mics in the auditorium. Anyhow, the kittens are now outside, so I can probably hang the mic inside the cage far enough so they don't hit it or anything.I recorded it at 44.1 kHz, edited it to make sure there weren't any personal conversations going on, and then I exported it as a VBR file.

Re: Interesting and unconventional uses of audio gear

I'm not sure if this deserves a new topic, considering how few of us actually use hearing aids, but I'd like to know more about this, especially if you read the link in the original post. Anyhow, someone told me that they'd rather spend a thousand dollars on getting some good pro-audio gear than spend five thousand on a pair of crappy hearing aids. They would probably get some good stereo or binaural mics, some earbuds or noise-cancelling headphones, an probably something that can adjust the EQ to boost or cut certain parts of the audible spectrum. One thing about hearing aids that I've personally experienced is that they do not amplify bass sounds very well, since they're primarily meant to capture speech frequencies. From my experience using monitors, I've been able to hear bass sounds just fine, but not with my hearing aids. And I'd be curious to hear whatever you've created! I just uploaded my first sounds to Freesound!

Re: which mixer should i buy for general usage/ Also a soundcard question.

Sorry if I'm reviving an old topic, but I was searching for topics about mixers, as I'm currently in the midst of building my pro-audio studio at home. I'm currently looking at getting some studio monitors, which I got to feel at Guitar Centre just last Friday.I have a Behringer Xenyx-1622FX mixer that I got at a pawn shop back in March of this year. It has four phono connectors, so that I can plug in a sound card, which is, incidentally a Behringer UCA222. Are the Yamaha mixers shaped like soundboards, or is it like a small square box? I've seen really tiny mixers that accept four channels, and they are anlogue. The interfaces are small, metallic boxes that are pretty lightweight. The mixer I have right now is a soundboard with twelve channels, a submix, and a main mix fader. When I helped run the soundboard for my high school's musical theatre programme, I used a board from the 1980's that had 32 channels on it. Talk about big! It was right next to the lighting console, located in a small booth in the back of the house. We had lots of external amps and receivers backstage because we had so many passive speakers and wireless microphones and headsets. The mixer I have has a built-in USB interface, but unlike the Scarlet ones, they will only mix down to a single stereo track.I am trying to go into business as a musician and creative artist, and because of COVID, there are some promising funding trends in the music and art industry doing well on-line, which is most likely going to continue, as the world doesn't want to lose musicians and artists to a pandemic. SourceBut once it's safe to go out again, I'd like to do some gigs and live shows.

Re: Consider this an official I don't give a damn

Now this brings up an interesting question. I'm not a lawyer, so if you need legal advice, you should consider finding one.Isn't the Blind Mice Mart supposed to be registered as an entity authorised to distribute materials exclusively for blind members only? I believe there is a code, 17 USC. 121.Bookshare, BARD, and Learning Ally all have a screening process for verifying your eligibility before you can use any of their services. Blind Mice Mart and AudioVault don't have that kind of screening, but I think they should, if only to comply with the law. Now, I realise that it won't stop others from getting their hands on what people want, but at least it wouldn't be considered piracy.

In addition, there is the plan to achieve self-support, which I'm actually signing up for because I want to set aside some money when I start a potential business I'm working with through VR and Avita.Interestingly, my attorney said to me once that American Society has always been grossly unfair, and I don't think even a pandemic would make it fair, unless it meant the end of human civilisation as we knew it.

I thought of implementing some kind of internet verification system, but I don't know if this would violate any statutory, constitutional, or common legal opinions.I don't know if this is true, but some dating and X-rated sites may verify your age with a public records consumer company, like the credit bureaus in the United States. And I think it's easy for anyone to create a prepaid debit card under an assumed name if you were to make the forum paid. What I was thinking was that, upon registration, users may be randomly selected to do a background check, which requires you to release your name, age, address, DOB, and probably a few other things.Such an idea may be useful, but I think it would also be expensive, as well.

Re: tips on how to start using reaper?

There used to be some courses, and I think they might be around somewhere, by the former CAVI audio team.Anyhow, the Able Artist Foundation endorces I See Music, as well.

Re: TTHub

If I'm not mistaken, that sounds like a wildcard SSL or TLS certificate from a domain registrar like GoDaddy, especially if it is going to be used for a subdomain or SIP, like TT.example.com.In some newer distros, I was able to use Letsencrypt with Sertbot, which is supposedly free, but I think there might be some limitations on what it can secure.

If I'm not mistaken, though, that information can be obscured in a few conf edits. In fact, two years ago someone on Facebook posted a link to an error page by a phone provider, and it clearly displayed what OS it was using.

Re: Sudden, temporary unexplained hearing loss

I've had this happen lots of times! The earliest I remember having it was in 2006. I was on the couch, and I think I was sleeping on my right side, and I had listened to an audiobook a few hours before. The next day, I woke up to hear this weird tinnitus sound that reminded me of a buggy telephone line, like a square or triangle wave of 120 Hz. Certain sounds sounded tinny, as if I were wearing cochlear implants or something. It went away in about three days. Also, any frequency that was sympathetically resonant to the tinnitus sound I heard gave me an odd sensation, as if I were going to lose my balance.I did hear at some point that our ears have an acoustic reflex ducking mechanism, which audiologists can test for to see how that's going. You can read about it here. https://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/t … pathology. I also talked quite a bit about it in my memoir, since having progressive bilateral hearing loss has always been the epicentre of my life.

Re: TTHub

I actually found it coincidental that a business owner would detail exactly how they did business, which, in some cases, might be helpful if you wanted to know they did it, but it might also open the door to unsuspecting attacks, unless of course they have secured their server with things like Fail2Ban and things like that.Where are these servers hosted? How do you run so many? Etc.TTHub is currently hosted on a Digital Ocean server in New York. My Operating system of choice is Debian. Why shouldn't I host my own server instead? You need a fast internet connection to accommodate more than a few users. TeamTalk does not mix audio streams together, so as more people transmit, the required bandwidth multiplies. Many home connections just aren't good enough. Hosting from home requires a reliable machine that never shuts down, fast and private internet, and knowledge of forwarding ports. Setting up a server like this one requires extra time and working knowledge of Linux. TTHub servers are set up quickly, backed up every hour, and are backed by a rock solid server from Digital Ocean.Source

Re: Usable surround receivers

I've been interested in setting up a home theatre system with at least 5.1 surround sound configuration ever since I first heard of using an entertainment centre with them in 2019.I recently got a Behringer Xenyx1622FX USB analogue mixer, and I am planning to get a set of DJ turntable sets, but in the meantime, I am looking into using it to plug into the back of a receiver. So far, I've gotten some recievers from eBay and NextDoor that are at least fifteen to twenty years old. I first got a Sony STR DE 425 receiver, which was extremely heavy, particularly on the left side. Then I swapped that one out for a Panasonic SC HT-740, 743, and 940. This one came with all six speakers.I noticed that in some computer settings, you can set the channels to be mono, stereo, 3.1, 5.1, etc. In Windows XP, this could be set up in control panel. Now, you have to configure the selected sound card, and it won't let you choose more than two channels if it only detects those. Now that computers have HDMI ports, I'm wondering if I could send surround sound that way.Of course, now almost everything is possible using Aira and Be My Eyes, so I can get sighted assistance to initially set up the system, like wiring and stuff.Any updates to this topic would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

I'm just now seeing this topic. I highly doubt that the virus will mark the end of human civilisation, at least not yet. But I do think it'll be a fair warning to people for not paying attention to how easily and quickly the human race can be wiped out due to biowarfare, massive technological failure, or something else entirely. This article gives some pretty good ideas of what futurologists and other apocalyptic survivalists are considering. The planet will remain here regardless, but we will simply vanish with a fresh opportunity for new creatures to evolve and start anew. We've gone through a similar pandemic in 1918, and a lot more people died from it, but still many survived. Then there was the H1M1 pandemic of 2009, but it didn't require us to socially distance as with the SARS-CoV2 that leads to COVID19.I was actually reading some stuff on the internet about how you could get tested, which would also include a serological test after you've already dealt with the virus to see if you were immune to it. This gave me an idea. What if we could draw some vials of our own blood, expose the white blood cells to the virus, let it develop antibodies, and then inject those antibodies into our own bodies, so that we could theoretically develop immunity to the virus right away? That sort of thing could also help people who are already fighting the virus, or maybe for vaccines in general. Many scientists are rushing to develop several prototypes while we sit here, playing wack a mole with the viruss. It is hard to imagine that just a month or two ago, it was practically non-existant, and then a few days later, it rapidly became widespread.

Question about NVDA's interaction with Office 365 word

2019-12-31 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : Green Gables Fan via Audiogames-reflector

Question about NVDA's interaction with Office 365 word

Hello, and happy end of 2019!I am having sort of a weird issue with using NVDA in Word.I recently joined the writing profession by investing ninety percent of the time on sites such as Reedsy, KDP, Smashwords, and Lulu, as well as the copyright office and LCCN. For sites that aren't accessible, like using Canva, I've used Aira.Anyway, using Word has become the heart of the manuscripts I've produced, and the sites are the arteries and veins used to distribute them.So anyhow, I noticed something weird happening lately. When I started navigating large documents, like this novel I wrote five years ago that is about seventy-eight thousand words, I noticed that it took a while to load, and sometimes the focus and browse cursors don't always line up. For example, if I hit the down arrow key whilst in browse mode, it'll read many sentences in that instance, rather than just one line.Additionally, if I hit control A to select all text, it says 65,000 characters selected. But, when I copy it to the clipboard and hit NVDA C, it says that the clipboard has a large portion of text. It is 439,834 characters long.I remember playing with this feature about a month ago in the advanced settings called use Microsoft UI Automation to improve performance, or something like that. I had it checked at one time, but when I started having problems, I unchecked it and restored everything to default. However, I noticed the same thing happening once more. I believe I also changed some settings in Word as well, but don't remember which ones. So, I am currently using Word that came with my Office365 subscription for OneDrive, with a Lenovo computer that I recently purchased, running Windows 10 with the latest version of NVDA. I'll say this much, though. The ram on this computer doesn't go past 3.89 GB, and it is a dual core AMD Radeon processor mainly designed for gaming.Does anyone here have any recommendations for how to optimise Word to run more quickly with NVDA, or how to fix these weird issues with how it navigates in focus and browse mode? Thanks!
