Re: I'd like to work with loops in Logic/GB but my eyes are broken

I would have thought there was a way to at least make the elements convenient little sliders and button controls like the rest of the gb controls are. That's... not very good. It's just there are patches I'd really like to use for some projects, but they have just one or two annoyances about them that someone with access to the transform pads could probably remove easily. I don't have a true midi keyboard per say, I have a Nord that's primarily for playing live, but it can also be used as a midi controller. I'm not familiar enough with the Nord's menu structure to know if it can do anything besides the basics though, which is using the keys, the pitch bend and the effect wheel.

I have another question, this time regarding the alchemy synth. I've done some research and it seems most controls to change the alchemy synth sounds are in their transform pads. But is there any way at all to access those using the keyboard? VO doesn't want to interact with them unfortunately, and I can't seem to find any alternatives how to change the current synth patch's properties.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

Suck it up and shut up already. Yes, some politicians, be this in the US or here in Austria have made huge mistakes trying to deal with this. But listening to the expert's consensus is the least y'all can do when it comes to such stupidly tryvial things as wearing masks during certain situations. I'm telling you, you Americans partially have it good. Here, if you wanna go to school, you're getting tested. If you're not getting tested, you're not going to in person school. This is a thing here, and I'm pretty sure if the US tried anything like it all the parents would start losing their shit. And AS much as I don't like the testing and the masks, it's justified. I have the opinion that it should be possible to do things like in person gatherings or cultural events, even right now, and definitely in the next few months as it's gonna get a lot warmer in half of the world. I'd have absolutely no problem with people reopening cinemas, restaurants, and consert venues. Just make sure there's a testing mandate and people have *free* access to tests.

Prommissing, but asking from someone who only knows about QC from a broad sense by reading futurist content, isn't that still not very commercially viable? Keeping a qc free of quantum noise and keeping it at the temperatures it needs to operate are impossible outside of the lab. I could see quantum computers used similarly to how we use supercomputers like Summit these days, as in people can use the computers to do calculations based on time they buy. Right?

To me, Op sounds like he's trying to say what would happen if time could somehow be stopped and days wouldn't pass anymore, meaning there's nothing to keep track of time anymore. And from what I could gather, I disagree entirely with what they said. Humanity is still humanity. People have to get shit done. Even if day and night stopped being, well.. day and night. never mind that debauchery is only doable for those that can afford it, which is only a small percentage of humanity. And even those can't fall forever because eventually, the resources they make their fun with will be used up.

Happenings may be calming down in the legendary land of Egypt after the ending of their intermediary period, however we shall witness more great events from this part of the known world, I foresee it! What would you say to this? How is civilization progressing in your empire, wherever it may be originally located? Re: Accessibility in video games

That is a disappointment for me too. It's unfortunate that all these organisations like BDW, Able Gamers, etc. don't share what knowledge they have. Most of their spokespeople are streamers, which primarily do just that, stream games. If they're streaming, they want people to watch and donate money to them. They might explain how they do one thing or another while playing a game, but most people don't want to sift through an hours long stream that, in the case of Twitch, isn't even archived permanently to find out how to pass a certain thing. Next you have streamers like Brandon Cole, whose done some great things don't get me wrong, but the only reason he's able to play stuff like Diablo or Miles Morales is because he 1: has sighted people in the chat, and 2: has a gamer girlfriend who can help him figure stuff out in person when he's not streaming. Most blind gamers don't have one or both of those things. With these networks getting as large as they are recently, it's just sad no one's committing to write up guides for new players wanting to get into the scene. There's breakdownwalls.net, but all that thing has is a bunch of MK char guides which are written in MK Lingo, so you can't exactly understand what they're on about unless you already know how MK, and fighting games in general work. MK is often among the first fighting games recommended to someone asking about playable games, so the chances someone might not know the fighting game vocabulary is quite high. This is what the mainstream gaming Discord could have been immensely useful for. Even if no one ever wrote guides and stuff, at the very least it could have served as a place where you could ask for help with a game and someone who happened to be there could help you out in person, either through text or voice.

Re: Accessibility in video games

Assuming every blind person who plays mainstream games, be they with a11y features or without is doing so out of desperation or denial, is a picture book case of generalizing. Who are you to decide what people are supposed to enjoy? Who are you to say what their reasons are for enjoying these things? Who are you to call anyone working as a consultant, anyone advocating to companies and dev teams, anyone experimenting with things others deemed impossible "desperate or denying?"I don't agree with everything some of the bdw or able gamers people say and do. I don't take all their words as Gospel like some others. But testing, implementing, and using a11y features in Tlou2 is not bashing a controller waiting for the right sounds to play. The non-vision preset you posted is just that, a preset. You can turn all that shit off. You can play the game with the right audio cues and that's it if that's how you want to play it. So for fuck's sake, let people play whatever they want in whatever way they want. If someone really is desperate enough to run around WoW with a sighted guide so they can pretend they're actually participating in and contributing to raids or whatever, then let them. It won't hurt you.

Lol wondering if @3 even watched blind people playing the game to come to the conclusion they came to. If the game did basically play itself, people like Brandon wouldn't have had nearly as much trouble with some sections as they did, and he was one of the a11y testers btw, so he already knew what was going down.

Re: A question to Netflix users in Germany

That's correct. Every original I've watched so far only has english AD, if it's an american or british series. If it's a non-english series, you'll usually have AD in the series's first language, and if it's popular enough internationally, it usually has an english AD as well. There are some good german series with german AD though, like Dark and We Are The Wave.

Same, I'm just on Mac. I honestly don't know how usable the app is on IOS. Like... how do you step through recording properly and edit them, change what happens in certain regions etc? It just doesn't seem too practical for me, unless you're using a keyboard to do things, at which point you might as well use the Mac app.

Re: A concern over Facebook's new privacy policy for What'sApp Users.

Honestly Defender, the way the system works is fair already. Let's get one thing out of the way first. There is no such thing as a "free service". Some platforms may try to charge you for using them. Those shouldn't be selling your data because you're a direct revenue source. If you choose to use a so called free service, it's only free in the sense that you yourself don't have to pay to use it. So the company behind the service will have to make money some other way. And for most, that's selling your information for ad purposses or for other things of a similar nature. You can layor as many encryptions, vpns, and super duper anti tracking apps over one another as you wish. As long as you're using the site in question, you're still providing them with info they can use and sell. it may be fake info, but it's still info. What you think is preventing them from getting ritch off of your usage of their site is only fighting part of the problem. They'll sell fake info just as quickly as real info since it's all done automatically. Take YouTube and its stance on ad blockers. Part of the reason that YouTube doesn't simply ban anyone using ad blockers is they know they have the potential to lose a lot of people to other platforms if they do that. But the other part of it is, YouTube still obtains revenue from people with ad blockers watching videos. The ad itself is sent out, it just doesn't play on your computer. So they have no reason to care.

can't get rid of apple watch changelog (series 5)

Hi all,Recently I installed a new watch OS update. The problem is, as soon as I unlock it now, a "what's new" dialogue appears. This doesn't have any buttons for me to dismiss it, all it has is a "more info" button for apple ID privacy thingies, which can direct me to the watch's web browser. When I get notifications and click one of them away, I'm able to get to the wach's main screens, but when I lock and then unlock it again, the changelog appears once more.I've tried restarting the watch, but still no dice. Any ideas on how I can get rid of this?

@42 you're fortunate to live in a country where people are forward enough to ask. Here in Europe, especially in a conservative country like Austria, nobody asks anything because everyone wants to be polite all the fucking time. They'd rather just move on, then make their own assumtions about you, and if they don't like what they saw, they'll talk about you behind your back. I've heard things are different in the Americas, people tend to be a lot more forward when it comes to asking things they may feel are contravertial or embarrassing.

That's the thing though. Everyone I've spoken to in the past, blind or not, said something like "wearing glasses inside might be weird, but it's better than keeping your eyes exposed because they jump around so much, and it subconciously unnerves people you communicate with." I wouldn't dream of performing without glasses, for instance. I already have an inferiority complex that's gotten so bad over the years it's probably starting to be detrimental to my well-being, and putting them on, at least when I perform, helps a little.

Re: Drama in the blind comunity, why does it happen?

I wear sunglasses when I'm in public. I've been told it gives sighted people something to focus on that doesn't move around too much, something they can hold eye-contact with that isn't creepy as fuck. My pair broak a few days ago, and I'm getting new ones tomorrow, but it's gotten to a point where any social interaction I have with a sighted person feels way too awquard for me. I just don't know enough to figure out how other people are taking this. I can't read people purely on their tone of voice. it's gotten a tiny bit better over the last few years but it doesn't stop me from acting like a fool in a lot of situations. Until recently I thought I was about two years behind what is usual for my age when it comes to social development, but now I just can't say anymore. I try to learn from the past concerning these matters but I seem incapable of acting better in similar situations whenever they come up. And it pisses me off because if things continue like they are, I'll never find anything like a sighted peer circle. Covid is also a factor here. I moved to a larger city this year precisely to be more able to attend events, go out, etc. Without having to rely on car transport, and now Covid's destroyed everything because nothing's allowed to open. Give it a few more years and I'll have turned into the very thing I've been wanting to avoid ever since I became aware of the rift between sighted, integrated blind, and blinky blind. And in the end, I may end up having nothing. No communities in the fully sighted, no freak tt blindy communities

Really_ I perhaps neglected to mention that building this superstar ship is only what one simulation of me, among billions, is doing right now. The original me, the first one to ever travel the stars, has already left the shackels of this primitive reality plane behind. Billions of years ago, I built the great ascention machine in what you degenerate organisms of flesh and bone call the Boötes void. That's why the place is so huge and empty, I took every single star into my huge globular cluster sized hands and crushed it into the material I needed for the ascention machine, then every single living being in the Boötes void ascended into a plane of reality that is simply too wonderful, too awesome, too removed from this confined part of the multiverse for simple human words to phrase it.

How do you take care of your credit card info?

I have a new credit card. My question is this: How do you guys store your financial information if you can't read it off the card? Writing it down in plain text somewhere sounds about as horrible as it can get. My password manager has an option to add payment cards, but entering the expiration date uses some stupid form field that doesn't work properly and doesn't seem to be very accessible. Do you guys just learn all the numbers by heart? If not, where do you store your info?

Sure you could, but nihilism doesn't put food on the table. Unless you manage to come up with your own teachings, write a bunch of books on them and get enough people to buy into it.

Re: Where did my future go?

College is pretty much the only option for me. These days, especially if you live in a country where \college education is mostly free, not having some form of higher education is basically a death blow. Not saying that I'm averse to the idea. I think I'd do pretty ok in Uni. The problem is, most of the other degrees I'm interested in besides law have certain stigma attached. There's an oversaturation of graduates in a lot of them which leads to overall reduced job chances, or some of the others are simply flat out useless unless you specialise yourself to a ridiculous level.

@4 maybe the way I'm looking at everything is wrong. It could be that my view on this issue is pretty black and white, probably because musical studies and something like law are very contrasting in my mind. To me, one sounds more like social death, while the other sounds like, if not financial ruin, then extreme financial worries for the rest of my life.

Where did my future go?

Yeah, never thought I'd actually make a topic like this here. But at this point, this forum's one of the few places I haven't turned to yet.If everything goes according to plan, I'm going to graduate high school in 2021 and am going to go to college for the next 4 years at least. To start, let me be very clear. I looked at all the options in the city I'm going to live in. I know what colleges, majors, and courses there are. And I have the ones that are realistically achievable for me noted down. That's not the problem though. My problem is that I'm being thrown around between two worlds and I don't know which to choose, and I know that no matter which one it's going to be, some aspects of it will suck. We're a musical family. My older Sister's in the middle of this program at Berklee where she can get the master's in bass guitar, which is going to enable her to teach at universities and stuff. That works out really well for her because she doesn't have anything against teaching, and the hours when teaching an instrument at Uni are low so she can also manage her other projects.I'm a singer. I love to perform for myself and others, but I don't want to teach. I might answer casual questions about how I personally like to do things, and I exchange ideas with other singers, but having fixed students, at fixed times, is something I can't see myself doing. Being a musician in Austria is about the same as it is everywhere else. If you want to live doing just that, you have two options. You have a big break, or you teach. As of now, teaching is out of the question for me. But getting the kind of break you need to be successful requires connections, and most of all, luck. Whether I have the skill or not is up for others to decide, but where luck's concerned I'm completely out, in no small part thanks to Covid. I mentioned two worlds at the beginning of my post. I also thought of toughing it out till I can get a bachelor's in law, then trying to specialise so I can go into music business/event or contract management. If anything, that would at least let me stay somewhere in the industry. I'm getting a lot of pressure from family and my surrounding environment to do just that, and to do it internationally if I'm able to.Starting a law major will mean that I'll have to effectively leave music behind for at the very least 2 years, probably a lot longer than that. Firstly, I'll drown in a mass of about 1 other people who have the exact same idea as I do and are studying law at my prefered Uni. Secondly, I've heard dark stories of how time intensive the degree is, and from what I'm hearing, I won't have anything like a private life as long as I'm enrolled. That private life would, mostly, include music. It's mostly about the people for me. 95% of all the decent people I know are musicians or friends/supporters of musicians. They are the ones who see past my lack of sight. They are the ones who don't bring any bullshit stereotypes into our interactions and don't think I'm less capable at everything. As long as I'm on stage with the right people, my blindness is gone for me. That little barrier that exists between me and a sighted person doesn't exist with most of them. I just don't want to lose that. Now if I did the law/business thing, I'd be drowned in a mass of almost 1 other people, most of which probably don't have the qualities I talked about above. I'd be dealing with all this quiet exclusion bullshit I had to deal with back in my childhood days, and which I have to also cope with today when I'm the wrong crowd. If I go the non-performance road, I'd probably be able to become financially secure if I do things right, but I'd also be consciously turning my back on the thing I really want to do, at least for the foreseeable future. It's not that there aren't any education options when it comes to music without the whole teaching thing, but these "degrees" are next to useless. Consider that in Austria, public uni is free of charge as long as you don't take too long finishing your degree, and even the private Unis are affordable for a lot of people without having to wrack up debt. Hell, I even started the application process for Berklee myself, simply because it's one more option to add to the pile. How realistic it is, especially where scholarships are involved, is a whole other question though.I honestly just don't know anymore and I wish I had another 20 years to figure this shit out.

Re: How do you study?

What I do is:First, I start early. I'm still in school, so I don't have to revise entire books and such like in Uni. It's a bit easier to work with that material. I condense the source material. In German, academics love to make unnecessarily long, nested sentences with way too many words in them, so you have to do that. Keep only the bare escentials. After I'm done, I revise my summary, and only my summary, once or twice a day until the exam comes. This usually works since I'm pretty good at writing out what's important and leaving what isn't important.

After fighting with various AVs for more than 7 years, I just stopped installing any of them. Most of them are either so inaccessible it's not even funny, or you have to fight tooth and nail to remove them if you don't want them anymore. Hell, the way most AVs acted back when I was still using them, they had most characteristics of your typical virus! Nope, these days, the best thing you can go with is Windows Defender and, most importantly, common sense. Don't download shit you're not supposed to download. Don't get programs from sites that try to get you to install a million other bloatware programs. And for fuck's sake never use things like chip to get your files, which all come with custom downloaders that probably include all sorts of nasty shit with your files.

Re: I've randomly become fed up with school

Yup, School is a drag, especially when you realise how many things you won't actually need later. The thing though is, slogging through it is the best thing you can do. Because of our second lockdown, we've moved all our work to teams and it's really easy to work through assignments there. The ones due the soonest are listed first, I just knock them down until I can't type, think, or be arssed to do anything except watch movies anymore. I had the exact same problem you did three or so years ago, and the thing is, I let it affect me to the point where I had to repeat the year I was in. The good thing about school is the subject matter changes roughly every few weeks. Sure, sometimes it's the same thing in green, particularly for things like history (which seems to go in cycles all the time anyways). But getting one topic out of the way and starting another is what keeps me going sometimes. There's nothing that drains me more than having to drone on and on and on about one particular topic for months on end.An example? In grade 7, we did WWII centered material in our german courses for, I kid you not, a whole year. Yeah, I get it, we live in Austria, and WWII was a terrible thing and all that, but we ended up dissecting so much of it there wasn't much we hadn't already heard by the time we officially got to it in History.

The great separation is underway and progressing, but the total amount of separated living organisms has only recently passed 500, and those organisms are only now learning how to live as separate entities once again. However, everyone's hoping such antiquated things like human versus alien or japanese versus chinese will never happen again, since even though 127 billion brains merged into one were a nightmare to behold, it also brought some advantages. Who knows, concepts like war or violence might now be a thing of the past. But we must also be careful, because when the separation continues, two lifeforms will inevitably meet, and do a thing called "fall in love." this may result in something that used to be called "children." and they will not know what it was like to be merged, and they may be warlike. Keep your guard up!

Don't know how to roll or light cigarettes and am happy about it, because I can't do it alone. That means I'm what they call an opportunity smoker over here. Means I might have one when I go out with friends, or am away somewhere, on parties and such. Most of the people I know roll their cigarettes from scratch though, they don't buy them in finished packs. Does anyone else here do that, or do you guys tend to just buy them?

Re: Discussion of the 2020 American Federal Election

Of course the chinese and russians would love nothing more than 4 more Trump years. It'll weaken american democracy even more, which will do two things. Firstly, it'll allow them to take even more control indirectly, and secondly, it'll send a message to the world and their population that democracy is fundamentally broken. Mind you, i'm not ignorant, I know what we have isn't the best, but it's better than the shit China's government has going on.

Re: the IPhone 12 line

The whole "no charger because environment" is absolute rubbish. It's greenwashing, nothing more. It#s particularly sad since for things concerning a11y and others, Apple has always delivered. But when it comes to climate change, all they're doing is milking the absoluteh ell out of it by trying to greenwash their operation. In the best case, you'll create just as much environmental polution as before, since every phone needs a charger anyway. You'll probably create even more though since the chargers will need their own packeging and transport.@37, I'll tell you what Apples sales numbers will look like. They'll look really, really good. Because as Jayde and others have said, Apple can do whatever at this point and people will buy their stuff. They'll buy it for the brand, even if that means putting up with inconveniences. Apple removed the jack from the 7 and... surprise, it was the most sold phone of 2017. They did the same shit with the X and... surprise! everyone bought it because shiny new face ID and future and awesome and blah blah blah. With Apple, you should really only upgrade anything if your previous model is on the verge of falling apart and there's no way to fix it for less than the price of a new device.

Nope, sticking with my 8 here. Like Simba's mine is beginning to lag a little, but the battery holds up if I'm careful with it and don't stream netflix for hours without charging xd. Literally the only thing that stands out for me in this year's lineup is 5g, which would be a great advantage but 5g isn't halfway ready yet here. I don't even think our frequency bands are fully auctioned and distributed yet, so this lineup can role on by unless something horrible happens to this phone in the meantime.

2020-09-09 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : connor142 via Audiogames-reflector

Content overload

I'm subscribed to Amazon prime (so that also means Audible), netflix, and Spotify. Amazon and Netflix have movy catalogues that aren't getting any smaller. I have literally every single book recommendation from Isaac Arthur written down in a list to try on Audible, plus some others I've heard of over the years. There's about 50 different german audio dramas on Spotify that I want to try to see if they're any good. And then there's this giant german sf series called Perry Rhodan that's been producing content for almost 60 years that I want to read more of. let's not forget all that hp fan fiction that I downloaded from Brad's db link. I'm not even going to start talking about all the non-fiction content (ted talks, YouTube, Curiosity stream if I ever decide to subscribe to that)... Thing is, the fuck do I do now? I always have this feeling that I should make equal use of all the platforms I have throughout the year, because whether or not I use it, either me or someone I know well is still paying for access. I guess that' what you get if you want content as a service. The big elephant in the room for this matter is probably Netflix, since I use spotify daily for music, other people than me use the amazon prime subscription to ship things and watch tv, and audible credit builds up over time if you don't use it.I've tried so many different things, some of which include:-Switching to a different thing every day, which didn't work out because I soon lost track of what was happening where.-Just dumping every single show/book/film/audio drama into one giant notepad window and letting random.org put it into a randomly ordered list for me. Eventually got bored of something that I was going through but didn't know what else to substitute it with.-Assigning each month to a different type of content, e.g. January =books, February =audio Dramas, march =Movies/tv, April =Harry Potter, etc. This kind of works since I have a general idea of what I want to get done and can still change to something else within the same category, but sometimes it gets dull if I don't change it up.Please tell me if there's some better way to organise the consumption of entertainment media before my brain explodes!

Um @17, by saying twitter is only full of activists and toxicity, you're already generalising. I'm not going to pretend stuff like that isn't common on social media. But that applies to most types of social media. The only reason you might not be seeing it on Reddit is because on there, everyone's floating around in their own subreddit. Just because you haven't joined the feminist forums on Reddit doesn't mean they don't exist. In fact, look what I found!https://www.reddit.com/r/Feminism/

Or, those people could just go on any one of the other social networks that are already around, and don't further segregate different population groups and create more walls between those with varying degrees of impairment. Consider that integration is what everyone should be striving for, not separation. There's enough sighted people already that act like they've seen a little green alien from Mars whenever a blind person passes them, this kind of thing really doesn't need to be reinforced.

2020-09-03 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : connor142 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: How do you handle crossing roads in a straight line?

First of all, I like to use the traffic sounds. If you're crossing an intersection, especially one that is controlled by a traffic light, you will most likely have cars traveling to the left or right of you, on the street that intersects with the one you're crossing. So all you have to do is go with the flow. This is especially useful if there are cars coming from behind, because you can just walk with them. Second, I don't know how the traffic lights in Slovakia are designed, but here in Austria, each light has an arrow on the top which points straight to the other side of the road. You can feel that arrow and use it to orient yourself. Finally, most cities here have a way for you to activate an audio signal on the lights that tell you when it's time to go. For some cities, you can just press a button on the light, while for others, you need to take a transmitter device with you. But if you're crossing somewhere with no traffic management, using the directions the cars travel is still the best way to align yourself. Don't make use of the step down from the pavement to the road, because those things curve in unnecessary ways, which can lead you right into the parallel street.

Re: Don't eat to much because of covid19.

I can't see myself ever ceasing to vote if I can help it. My opinion is: If you can't be arssed to go and cast a vote during an election, you have no right to criticize those in power. I mean, if you live in a democracy, the right to say whatever you want is given to you by default, but if I know you haven't voted, I'm probably not going to take you very seriously. To those who put forward the argument that "my vote doesn't matter because I'm just one among millions." Please stop. If everyone thinks that way, democracy won't function. I'm not saying that it works particularly well at the moment, but it's better than living under a sadistic despot whose had his mind warped by a pampered upbringing and understands nothing of the world. Call me naive, but partisan politics sounds kind of stupid anyway. As a member of a certain party, you always have to stay within the party line and never cross it. I'd say this got out of control in the US. There, if you vote democrat you're a tree hugging godless vegan hippy liberal communist, and if you happen to vote republican, you're a racist sexist homophobic meat eating conservative capitalist.
