@22You wouldn't be the first caught by a EULA, people hardly ever read them, even if they really should. I wouldn't necessarily say that this is a question of being "illegal" perse, but it could end up getting you a cease and desist or a lawsuit. If your worried about liability, i'd suggest editing your original post here to get rid of the offer/links, getting rid of your wiki post about it, and giving refunds to those who purchased it to show good faith. You could ask people to delete the data you gave them, but whether they actually do or not is out of your hands.

Re: planning to migrate to US, do you guys think it's possible?

Well, it kind of depends on what kind of music your studying I suppose. The first thing that comes to mind is getting a Bandcamp or soundcloud account and building a portfolio, there's a user here, Eric Matyas who is a veritable beast with the amount of tracks he uploads, you can check out his thread [here]. There's also some game industry articles around as well, such as those by [Winifred Phillips] that may be useful. An example of more conventional instruments could also be Swedish bands like [Wintergatan], he also runs a Patreon page to help fund his current engineering project for a marble based music machine. With a portfolio set up, you could start loitering around dev sites like itch.io, gamejolt, tigsource, etc. and drop a few posts offering your services, see who bites, etc. Just be sure to brush up on your contracting and legalese.edit: Hm, seems there may be some Canadian grants for Ecuadorian students to study abroad? Might want to check [here]. Also maybe some local Ecuador grants [here].

Re: I have my very own TTS voice available to purchase.

A more straightforward way of distributing software would be on an accessible store platform like itch.io, accounts are free and you can choose the revenue share to give to itch.io for their services, if any. You can also sell products as free, pay what you want with or without minimums, or a set fee. They even offer forums and user reviews of your products, if you want. Also, you can embed a widget that links to your itch store page on your website too, if you like. It would probably simplify your distribution considerably.

Re: planning to migrate to US, do you guys think it's possible?

Its a tricky thing, if you can't sustain yourself where you are to finish university, then the decision to stay is moot. Affording it elsewhere without a suitable income however also makes things difficult, although you could try both studying and working part time. It may also be more advantageous for you to go with other family members so you could help support each other, affordable housing and jobs are can be difficult these days. Hmm... another potential resource to tap into for university though could be to try to apply for local bursaries or scholarships to help cover the costs, though it depends on whether your eligible or not.

Re: planning to migrate to US, do you guys think it's possible?

@5Its hard to say. Going to university typically costs money, so starting over is essentially jettisoning what you've already invested, as a result there are a few things to consider. Can you transfer the credits you have already to whatever university you'd be attending in your target nation, or otherwise act as an exchange student? Is the value of your full degree or the knowledge gained from it such that it could help you get work in your target nation? Would starting from scratch otherwise provide opportunities you otherwise wouldn't have, IE: the potential to get an H1B for a Green Card in the US. Keep in mind that if you complete your studies now, you can always go back to university to study something else, either starting from scratch or potentially transferring existing credits from your previous degree. The opportunities your mother have also seem promising, but being offered a job and having one are two different things, not to mention a living wage. In Sweden the requirements to qualify for citizenship are 5 years, but it seems if you live with a Swedish citizen for two years you can cut that down to 3 years instead of 5. Both Canada and Sweden have national healthcare and childcare services, so there are certainly benefits to both. There's some data for Canada [here] and [here], and Sweden [here] and [here]. Something to consider about Sweden though is that it might be more difficult if your not an EU citizen already, and immigration is getting to be a hot topic in both countries.

Hmm... [Digging around] it would seem that gaining permanent residency in Spain can be done in a few specific ways, though that you have family there who could potentially give you a place to stay could be useful. For citizenship and permanent residency, you need to live there for at least 5 years. A student Visa apparently counts for half that, so 10 years, though you could also maybe transition it towards a work permit. If you have private health insurance and a sum of savings, you could also get a Non Lucrative Visa as well. The local [Spanish National Organization for the Blind] might be able to help with education and employment opportunities, since it seems a work visa is one of the more straight forward ways to get temporary residence long enough to qualify for permanent residence. You may want to talk to the various blind support organizations first though, make some inquiries with them.I'm not sure as to the complete process for immigrating to the US, though it may be possible utilizing an F-1 student visa. Mentioned [here] it seems that some entities are authorized to issue H1B visa's for foreign students who have specialized knowledge in certain fields. With the H1B, you could then have the chance to apply for a Green Card and US citizenship. There are also various fee's associated with some of that, there's some stuff [here] that might help. Again, getting in touch with local blind support agencies where you plan on staying might prove useful.

Re: planning to migrate to US, do you guys think it's possible?

Hmm... [Digging around] it would seem that gaining permanent residency can be done in a few specific ways, though that you have family there who could potentially give you a place to stay could be useful. For citizenship and permanent residency, you need to live there for at least 5 years. A student Visa apparently counts for half that, so 10 years. If you have private health insurance and a sum of savings, you could also get a Non Lucrative Visa as well, and maybe transition it towards a work permit. The local [Spanish National Organization for the Blind] might be able to help with education and employment opportunities, since it seems a work visa is one of the more straight forward ways to get temporary residence long enough to qualify for permanent residence. You may want to talk to the various blind support organizations first though, make some inquiries with them.

@9Unfortunate indeed. I would mirror Jaydes suggestion of talking to a physician about it, but if that's problematic, it may be best to wait for additional information and reduce your risk, or contemplate a different setting. But, if it makes you feel better, there are some very recent studies that indicate that it appears to be safe for kidney transplant recipients to get the moderna or pfizer vaccines. You can read up on it [here], [here], and [here]. But again, and I can't stress this enough, getting vaccinated is about risk management. Its your decision whether or not you feel the risks and benefits of getting the vaccine given the circumstances is worth it at this time. I've posted data on how the different vaccines work in a different thread, it may help to read up on it when making a decision or discussing it with your physician. 2021-03-07 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : magurp244 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Pfizer or Oxford?

@25In a human cell, the Nucleus which contains your DNA exports instructions as mRNA to the cytoplasm to be "read" by ribosomes, the translation mechanism of cells, which then make proteins. The read instructions of the mRNA is then eliminated by various cellular processes. The spike proteins on the surface of the cell may well last for its lifetime, or until it links up with a T-cell. Any changes made by mRNA aren't passed on because they don't effect DNA. Again, this is the same way RNA viruses and the immune system naturally operate, but your right that as with anything there can be unforeseen complications, auto-immune misinterpretations, microbiome effects, psychosomatic responses, etc. Biology is very complex and diverse, and such things can be a factor of any infection. But again, this is about risk mitigation, the vaccine is no different than the virus, so it boils down to how likely are you or others are to getting said virus and how bad it would be if you did, vs the risk of a potential complication from the vaccine. In many respects I can see the wisdom in not picking one over the other until people are more comfortable with it, but given the state of the world and how contagious COVID is, whatever a persons preference it would probably be a good idea to get vaccinated with something.

Re: Pfizer or Oxford?

Vaccines have always been about risk management. Rare side effects/circumstances vs effectiveness of vaccine and severity of risk due to infection. If there was a risk of polio or small pox, the threat a vaccine may pose pales in comparison, for example. As for vaccine types, the [AstraZeneca] vaccine essentially does the same thing the Pfizer vaccine does. It encodes the COVID spike protein that it uses to infect cells as DNA, and loads the payload into a chimpanzee adenovirus. That virus then enters your cells to instruct your cells to build the Spike protein to build antibodies. The [Pfizer] vaccine actually slips in an mRNA data packet into your cells, like the [virus itself], but only for instructions for the virus's spike protein it uses to attack. The cells then manufacture the spike protein, sans viral payload to get a heads up on the attack vector it uses and builds an antibody defense. To understand that process a little better you can read [this], or [this].The huge advantage with mRNA is that they seem to be more effective at being taken up and building antibodies, and are easier to manufacture, so you can make vaccines and booster shots and such very quickly that are very effective.

The problem may likely be the monitor settings, depending on what kind of monitor it is. VGA input is a separate setting from HDMI input on most TV's, so you'd have to switch it on the monitors settings, or possibly the remote if it has one.

I don't think there are any "accessible" android emulators perse, but that may partially be due to the fact they don't come with the Android Accessibility Suite pre-installed, which could be due to copyright issues. What you'd need to do is download your emulator of choice, then load in the Accessibility Suite APK file manually, you can find it [here], among other places.

Cartridges can have embedded ID's that the printer firmware can check against. One of them I know of is that they can check and block expired ink cartridges from working, or reject third party cartridges that don't have a valid ID, another is region locked cartridges, yes region locked. So an ink cartridge sold in the UK won't work in Poland for example. For the most part though, if you buy the suppliers cartridges for your specific region or from local retailers, you'd be fine. But again, some printers do that, not all.

If anyone is interested in how the Perseverence rover managed to get equipped with a microphone, there's a recent interesting article on [wired] that covers the story of how an LA Musician, Jason Achilles Mezilis, managed to convince NASA to include it in the project.

Perseverance Landing On Mars: Febuary 18th

As reported by [teslarati]:NASA's rover is nearing Mars, and is about to begin its decent to the surface with a powered landing, oft referred to at NASA as "7 minutes of terror", as for 7 minutes they will have noway to communicate with the rover to determine if it survived. Some of you may remember that Perseverance is the same rover equipped with special microphones recording its [journey through space] that will also be used to record not just its entry through the atmosphere, but the sounds of Mars itself. You can watch the event on NASA TV [here] starting at 11:15 am PST, as well as on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, Daily Motion, Theta.TV, and the NASA app.

Re: are their any manga readers for the blind?

Software, no. Comics, and by extension Manga, are very graphically oriented, text is also often integrated into the artwork in various ways which can make automated translation difficult. Having said that however, there may be a few ways you could still do it.One would be to use a service like Be My Eye's to have someone describe it, another would be to try hunting down [Scripts]. As mentioned in the article:... I realized that the creators of comic books have to follow an outline of some sort so that the artist, who works with the author, knew what to draw. These Comic Scripts often consist of pure text and offer complete descriptions, panels, colors, and dialog for the artists to work with. The links to the comic archive in the article don't really work, but I did dig up another comic book archive [here] that contains PDF's of various comic artists works that offer full descriptions. A few examples would include [Batman: Rules of Engagement #1], [Youngblood #2], and [Challenger Deep #1], among others. Its scattered but there are a few series in there.

The current booster previously flew the 19th and 20th Dragon resupply missions to the ISS, a Starlink mission, the SAOCOM 1B mission, and the NROL-108 mission. Its scheduled to land on the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You" stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. You can watch the livestream [here], which starts in 23 hours as of this post.

Re: getting a new braille display, but which one do you recommend?

Well, I mean... I'm hesitant to even mention it, but if price is absolutely no object, why not go for some of the bleeding edge displays like the Graphiti, or a TactisPlay? As a sidenote, the [HelpTech Active Star] seems decent enough, its about the size of a laptop, which you can rest on top of it. No price listed though.

AccessiBe ADA Overlay Webservice

As reported by [techrunch]:It would seem a few companies have been pushing the grounds on web accessibility. One such company, AccessiBe, uses machine learning to put an overlay on top of an existing website to match and provide accessibility to a given website to help fill in its proverbial cracks. Examples of this can be found on sites like [Everlast], [Tupperware], and [Playmobil]. While not perfect it does seem to provide a potentially easier way for people to get accessibility up and running, or address previously inaccessible webdesign, however AccessiBe is also working on a user-centric version that could help in web navigation for users without having to rely on websites to comply or go with their service.

Re: making tea properly?

Hm, you'd think no one had ever heard of a tea pot before... There are a few ways, using either a tea ball or bag, you usually boil water in a kettle and pour it into a cup, or tea pot, and let steep for about 5 minutes give or take. Another way could be to put your tea mixture into a french press and then add hot water, let sit and press it out. Most of the time we pour the hot tea into a cup then put in additives like milk/sugar/etc, since multiple people may want tea and have different preferences to how they take it, basically coffee pot rules.

Re: SpaceX SN9 Starship 10km Flight: Complete

After numerous delays along with last minute permit issues with the FAA, SpaceX has just completed the test flight for SN9. The flight appeared to be a success, with take off, engine cut offs, and skydiving. Unfortunately, during the pivot manuver to right itself it appears there was some kind of ignition failure on engine 2 resulting in insufficient thrust, it tilted towards one side and impacted the landing pad, exploding. The good news is that it appears the Helium tank pressure fix may have worked, but we'll have to wait for them to provide any additional information. You can watch the replay of SN9's test flight [here], the good stuff starts around the 5:20 minute mark.

Re: SpaceX SN9 Starship 12.5km Flight: January 25th to 27th

Its been a journey, what with SN9 tipping over in the high bay and requiring a few flaps to be swapped. Additional hot fire testing has been rather rigorous in order to get ignition more reliable. Finally however it seems that SN9 may fly within the next few days, as an FTS, or Flight Termination System has been installed, essentially a brick of C4, in case they need to abort the flight to avoid collateral damage. As always, schedules may slip, but hopefully we can see another grain silo flop through the air.

@6Synthetic gems are typically of much lesser value than natural gemstones, and those created in this current process are of poor quality. They still appear as red, non-transparent stones about 1-2 millimeters in size, but are likely not of much value. Much of the information I posted here is also found in the linked videos, if you have an interest in science and technology try lurking around some of the maker communities and science websites, you can find all sorts of interesting things.

@2Not new, it seems. There's a comment on the video from someone whos done it years ago, offered some tips on refining the yield and quality, so maybe not widely known? Most commercial methods for gem synthesis may use different approaches for higher yield and quality, but that may depend on refining his process. Using microwaves for creating Plasma, with grapes actually, is also a common science experiment. Its often how plasmas can be created, and is actually a major component of how the VASIMR Plasma Rocket works, generating plasma using microwaves and containing it in an electromagnetic field for ejection out the nozzle.

Making Rubies In A Microwave Oven

2021-01-13 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : magurp244 via Audiogames-reflector

Making Rubies In A Microwave Oven

Fairly recently a fellow asked the eternal question: Can I make synthetic rubies in my microwave? This was prompted by him coming across a microwave Kiln for making melted glass at home. Synthetic rubies are primarily made of Aluminum Oxide, with the contaminant determining its color, this so called "seed material" is then heated and produces the crystalline gem.Now the kiln didn't work out and couldn't get hot enough, so he turned to something a bit more... creative. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the idea of not sticking metal in a microwave, or bad things happen, but you may not be totally familiar with why or how. The reason actually has to do with Plasma Physics, yes Plasma Physics. The microwave energy interacts with metal and generates a super heated plasma gas which can be several thousand degrees, hot enough to quickly melt your microwave or cause serious injury. You can actually watch a bit about it [here].So, how does this help make rubies? Well the guy decided to try and harness this super heated plasma to get the seed material hot enough to make rubies, and make he did. To do this he placed a small amount of the material in a glass candle holder with a little bit of aluminum wool stuck in it and capped it all with a ceramic lid to contain the plasma. 10-15 seconds later, rubies.Needless to say you probably shouldn't try this at home, and definitely not with a microwave you cook food in, given there can be some unknown volatile byproducts. But its kind of cool that you can quick serve gemstones with this kind of chemistry hack. You can watch the full video of the process [here].

Re: frustrated with blindness (read post if you want context)

Bold, italics, underlining, etc. are modifiers used for [Emphasis] in literary topography. Each of them can have small differences, some more subtle or overt. Italics for example slants letters to more subtly express a word or letters without standing out from the rest of a sentence, whereas bold sticks out by thickening text. Underlining can be used for highlighting, or for various other purposes, other forms include capitalization, colors, etc.

As reported by [arstechnica]:Launching rockets from planes has been an idea thats been floated before, such as with Scaled Composites [SpaceShipTwo] and White Knight aircraft, Northrop Grumman's Pegasus booster, or Virgin Orbit's LauncherOne vehicle. Now however we have a stealthy new entrant, Aevum with their new Ravn X autonomous drone aircraft. With an estimated payload capacity of 25,000kg for small satelites, the big selling point of the drone aircraft is the ability to launch from just about anywhere there's a runway, and through almost any weather conditions to deliver payloads into low earth orbit, something current launch providers have some difficulty doing.Naturally, this has peaked the interest of military contractors and other parties in terms of its response capabilities, and it would be pretty interesting to see how this drone manages to launch its payloads without the mass or issues that involve physical pilots.
