Well, they always release enhanced versions. That's happened since around Dynasty Warriors 4, I think. And the first samurai warriors as well. Typically it's three releases per main title.. the original, extreme legends, and empires. This of course not counting spinoff titles like Spirit of Sanada.  And yep, I know Blazblue and other series have started moving away from individual character stories in favour of more streamlined campaigns. That's a very good point.  In any event, I'm hoping this one is playable. Spirit of Sanada doesn't seem like it is, so that worries me a little. But here's hoping.

Actually, blazblue stopped with individual character stories im their story mode starting with chrono phantasma, then pretty much every fighting game produced or published by arc has had a single campaign with a few arcs featuring all the characters from cross tag battle to dragon ball fighterz to persona 4 arena Ultimax. You can even see that trend with games like street fighter and tekken. For example street fighter 4 had stories for each character, and sure street fighter 5 did as well but the focus became the campaign,. Tekken 5 had stories for each character, but the ones in tekken 6 and 7 paled in comparison to the campaign stories. Even dead or alive ditched individual character stories after dead or alive 4, as every fighting game since in that series has had a single campaign. Soul calivur  did this also with broken destiny and soul calibur 5, thankfully 6 brought them back.  If in fact sw5 will focus solely on 1 arc rather than give multiple perspectives, then I would not be surprised. I've been looking back at the history of this series too, and I wouldn't be surprised if they released an updated version with more content later on, just as they did with sw4 and sw4 ii and sw4 empires.

Ah... no. I was talking about the reverse. This game doesn't focus on each character individually. It focuses on the oda family and has various story arcs within that. Previous games focused on individual warriors, or in Samurai Warriors 4, focused on certain factions. And I'd argue that Japanese fighting games have always had more individual stories that piece together *see blazblue or even games as early as Tekken 4), rather than the long, single piece narative that more common now from titles like those by NRS.  Trends are definitely shifting either way, though.

Thats a trend more Japanese fighting games have been taking also. Fewer story arcs with a focused narrative bs a story for each character.

Apparently, the story's going to be more focused. Not sure how I like this yet. The clan based stories were kinda cool, but I almost like not having to put things together a little more if this focuses on one of the main focuses of the sengoku era. The Oda family. The game's apparently going for a more stylish approach, too. Hoping for not too much though. I always liked the contrast between this game and dynasty warriors.
